Power Rangers cost more to make, but they're advertising the hell out of it and everyone I've talked to says something like, "I can't fucking wait to see that, it looks awesome." It will be more difficult for it to turn a profit, but will probably meet that goal.
MLP cost less to make, but is barely being advertised and the fandom has dwindled in size, meaning relatively less turnout. It wouldn't need to make as much to reach profit because of the minuscule budget, though.
It might be a wash.

Power Rangers is a huge blockbuster movie with shitloads of advertising behind it. And while Hasbro hasn't advertised the film directly yet (it comes out in October, for fuck's sake), they're proud of it, and you can bet your ass they'll advertise the fuck out of it once the trailer drops, just like they did with Bayformers. Face it, both of these films are toy commercials for popular brands, and there'll be plenty of normies going to see both, let alone fans of the respective franchises.

I'm seeing Power Rangers posters EVERYWHERE in places where a lot of people can see it. One of the most popular newspaper in my country even did an article on it saying that "Power Rangers are coming back" and it was on the front page. They are investing a shitload of money into advertising it, but then again the movie was also much more expensive than the MLP movie, so I guess we'll see.
