I feel your pain. Almost every night, I imagine having some pillow talk with my waifu. And the worst thing is, I've gotten more open with the conversations. Honestly anon, I wouldn't worry about that too much. I'm pretty sure that's a fairly common and not unhealthy phenomenon, to make up conversations while going to sleep. I do it pretty much every night unless I'm in a pretty bad place emotionally. It helps me work through stuff in real life, and sometimes it's a bit of escapism. I have an ongoing sci-fi plot in my head that I've been going through for about a year now solely through imagining things while in bed. It's pretty terrible self-insert masturbation, but that doesn't matter - it's fun and it keeps me distracted from stuff that keeps me awake.

Reading posts like these make me incredibly thankful that I started practicing lucid dreaming years ago, and that I was fortunate enough to have a series of lucid dreams over the course of about a year involving an Equestria that remembered me each time I returned. I lived the dream for a short period of time, Anons.

I've carried on a conversation with Luna under a starry night sky.
I've shared a warm hug with Luna, feeling the softness of her coat along with the slight tickle from strands of her mane brushing against my neck.
I've wandered Canterlot Castle by Celestia's side, passing by guards and taking in the scenery, later ending up snuggled together.
I've felt the weight of Chrysalis on top of me after being forced to the ground, as she used her magic to wrap my arms around her in an embrace. And other things
There were many other dreams too.

Except that those were all years ago. My only fantasy now is to one night dream again of Equestria.
I wonder if they would all still remember me?

Not being alone for the rest of my life.
That's my fantasy.
My reality is that I will be alone for the rest of my life.

It's nice to find someone who can relate. I've shared my experiences on the occasional dream thread for years with no one else coming close to what I've experienced.

I think my personal problem is that I'm simply not as mentally involved with the world of Equestria anymore.
What I mean by that is back during the first three seasons of the show, I was inspired to write greentext stories on here, and back then most of the writers had a chatroom to gather in and share now-vintage memes, discuss the show, and most importantly, we did a lot of worldbuilding for stories. My mind was actively thinking about it all the time.

You can look back at it now and call it the pinnacle of autism, but it was fun then, and I made quite a few friends in the process.

But; time passed. Friends lost interest, the show changed directions, life got busier, etc.
Basically, if your mind isn't absolutely filled with the subject you want to dream about, you're going to have a really hard time getting many coherent dreams in a row.

For me personally, what training I found helped the most is to simply focus on remembering aspects of your dreams. Get in the habit of reading through your journal, recall how those things played out in your mind.
Additionally, work on becoming aware that you're dreaming. You don't need to expect to go all the way and control every single dream, just imagine becoming aware and seeing where the normal dream takes you.
After awhile, you can start to notice that you're dreaming normal dreams almost every single night, and with that you have a solid foundation for practicing lucidity and deeper dream recollection for your journal.

I still lucid dream, and over the years I've had a handful of either non-lucid to semi-lucid dreams involving a pony or two, but nothing at all like what I once experienced.

I guess I would also have to put more emphasis on life getting busier. I had a lot more free time to mess around and flex my sleep schedule. Now I have more work, which means getting up earlier while getting to bed late. I'm often tired and have a hard time focusing on anything specific because of that. I just fall sleep and enjoy my almost nightly dream, often making it at least somewhat semi-lucid in the process.

My method is to simply lie still when you wake up, and replay the dream through your head now that you're awake.

Movement deletes dream memories, so by going over it again before you move converts it to actual memory that won't get wiped. Then you can write it all out.

It takes a ton of practice to get lucidity in any sort of reliable sense. Try drinking Tonic water before sleep. It helps me dream/have more vivid dreams and remember them better.

Isn't the realism in lucid dreams incredible? It's still amazing to me how powerful the human mind is to generate those dreams.
The most "real" lucid dream that I ever had involving ponies was actually a moment with Celestia. It stands out as the single dream that I've never experienced anything like before or after, even among all my other lucid dreams.

But it was a very, very bittersweet dream to say the least. I don't share or talk about it very often.

this whole lucid dream thing is so interesting. It's only happened to me a handful of times when I'm bone tired, and of that only two of memory involved pone. The first involved me having sexy time with my waifu cadence and latter being luna pulling me out of an endless IRL loop dream. Shit was incredible, especially the intimidate one. I swear I was able to feel how soft her fur was when my arms were wrapped around her warm body unfortunately I woke up before I got to the glorious horse pussy part. If I recall correctly, on both occasions I had fallen asleep for the night reading green (sexy time one was spurred by a lewd candy yandere and the other was from the heart of war series when anon was in the endless loop of dream sequences).

My theory is the key to lucid dreaming is to stay up late reading stories of the topic you want to dream about. Also, lift or excercise ALOT and often, I was /fit/fagging hard when both these instances occurred

If this was a dream thread I'd just post the actual dream log, but since it isn't I'll try and make a general synopsis of what happened.

This was the last portion of the dream I mentioned at >>29712575 where I was walking around Canterlot Castle by Celestia's side. I mentioned that I ended up snuggled together with her.

It was exactly that. Except more.
See, anyone who has had any experience with lucid dreams will know what I'm talking about when different lucidity levels are spoken of. You have non-lucid "normal" dreams, semi-lucid dreams where you are aware of your dream but have little to no control over it, and proper lucid dreams where you are fully aware and in control of your dream, along with various levels in between.

But in all my years of lucid dreaming, for one brief, precious moment that lasted about a minute, something exceptional happened.

After a few minutes of wandering the castle, the dream scene shifted, only to suddenly find myself being big spoon with Celestia in what I can only assume was her bed.

Here's the thing though: The moment the scene shifted, my lucidity changed too. It transcended what I thought was possible. I was no longer aware that I was dreaming, but I was still in total control of my own movements, and everything felt and looked extremely real.

In other words, to myself in that moment the dream wasn't a dream at all, but I was absolutely, totally convinced mentally and physically that I was awake and in reality.

So there I found myself with Celestia's soft, warm body pressed against mine. She was laying on her side with her back to me.
My left arm rested between her left wing and her body, hand idly rubbing her chest area.
At the same time, I was gently running my fingers through her mane with my right hand.
All while I could hear her slowly breathing in and out, body slightly rising and falling with each breath, clearly relaxed.

The level of detail was unreal. Or rather, it WAS real. Everything felt and looked so real to make me believe it was reality at that point.

I remember looking up for a moment and looking around what could only have been her room. Just as detailed and furnished as you would expect it to if you were to actually be there.

Rubbing her chest or playing with her mane elicited various responses. A little movement of a forehoof here, a twitch from an ear there.

I felt completely at peace. No daily stresses, no worries, no thoughts in the back of my mind. I was just there, enjoying Celestia's company.

All too soon, the relaxing scene made me feel tired, so I moved forward enough to rest my head on her neck. Feeling her soft, warm coat against my cheek, along with the rise and fall of her breath, I closed my eyes to presumably fall asleep.

And so the dream ended. But reality hadn't caught up with me yet.
At some point in the morning, I woke up, but my eyes were still closed, and I still felt a soft, warm presence against my cheek.

Instantly I had a big grin on my face and became excited. And I felt happy, incredibly happy. Because of how deep my lucidity went in the last part of that dream, in that moment I absolutely, 100% expected to open my eyes and see Celestia, and her room, and Canterlot Castle, all the other ponies, and the rest of Equestria.

Instead, I opened my eyes, and only saw the curtains covering the window next to my bed. The soft feeling on my cheek was a little corner of a sheet that found its way up to my pillow during the night.

It took a few moments to register in my mind, but I realized then what actually happened.
And then feelings on intense, bitter disappointment hit me like a truck, wiping that grin away real quick.

It's strange. After years of lucid dreaming and the associated practice, I barely ever have anything resembling a real nightmare anymore, but the things that can still scare me shitless every once in awhile are the auditory hallucinations associated with falling asleep, waking up, and especially during sleep paralysis.
Look up Exploding Head Syndrome. It's one of the most common auditory hallucinations that people experience.

Of course they still look cute. Beautiful, even.
Though it's hard to describe. It's a mix between the show and realism. Pic related is the closest example that I've been able to find. You can clearly see(and feel) the textures involved in the coat, mane, wings, etc. Bone structure and musculature is also defined like in pic related.
The only noteworthy difference I can think of compared to the pic, besides some minor body scale/proportions, is that the eyes are smaller.
Imagine the ones in the pic shrunk by another 10-15% and you have it. Still very pretty to look at.
It's not that big of a change, but it's a definite difference compared to how they look in the show with those gigantic eyes.
