I know I could garner so much "horsefame" (whatever that's worth) if I put myself out there a bit more, I just feel like I'd sacrifice what little integrity and humility I have left in doing so.

I would put my name on things I make, if only to help Anons find the rest of it. I'd not necessarily like that all my works are related, but that's the nature of a name.

I produce nothing. I'm here for no reason I don't even know why I keep the tab open constantly.
>>
>>29692243
I didn't use to have a problem with promoting myself before, and I was never actually called out on it either despite really whoring links out any chance I could, but somewhere down the line I just sort of found out on my own how much of a faggot I was being and stopped. Now I never promote myself ever except when I make something new and even then I only drop a link once when asked and I no longer make the kind of views I use to back when I started. Can't be helped though because it was virtually drilled into my head by people I respect that promoting yourself is a faggoty thing to do.

In the end as long as whatever name you create shit with online can't be traced back to your real life identity, you shouldn't give a shit how it makes you look to promote yourself if you had fun making it since rude words on a screen don't mean shit anyway. Otherwise you end up in my situation where I feel like shit if I do promote myself because someone told me it's bad, but I feel like shit for not promoting myself because all the effort I put into my work goes unnoticed because no one is seeing it because I don't promote it because someone told me I look like a faggot if I promote it.
>>
>>29692243

I have a development name "Ponyforms", but noting final. And the name only makes sense due to historical reasons what probably wont make sense to a player. Its actually a 'mod', kind of. Im working on the engine for a non pony game, and decided to ponyfi it in parallel. making 2 games in it also helps me keep the content and engine code separate as well.

A couple of days ago, I started writting something out of boredom. So far, I've wrote about 1,719 words. Story so far:

>You're a changeling, expert on assassination and infiltration missions. Your next target is War Veteran ''Spitfire''. As you meet her, you suddently realize that something feels off about her...

That's it so far
I'd gladly post a link of it, but the story itself is on Spanish. Maybe I could translate it somewhere in the future, but for now, I will make sure everyone who reads it finds it enjoyable

"Integrity" is irrelevant here. And humility? Who gives a fuck about humility? You put the fucking effort into your fucking stories, now do you want people to read them or not? You don't lose your humility when you start shilling your stories or talking yourself up, you lose your humility when you act like a massive twat whose farts don't stink. Actually, that's when you START to lose your humility, you fully lose it when you give yourself a cult of lunatics that'll sing your praises and throw money at you while calling you/whatever diety you made up a god.

By the way, after too fucking many years, I've overcome my crippling depression and IRL BS long enough to fully rewrite chapter one of my MLP fanfic. https://www.fimfiction.net/story/224996/the-shining-silver-star-of-the-apple-family Please read, rate, review here (not on there, because I might not be him) and offer advice on how I can improve.
>>
>>29696209
That was surprisingly good. Not quite MAS tier, but higher than FiW tier. In a few parts it feels like abrasive language is used as a substitute for good writing, but most of the time the script was pretty solid. I was especially cracking up during Rainbow Dash's scene.
>>
>>29692318

Okay, I watched it all.
I assume by now you want to follow the same mechanic that 'DBZ' and 'Hellsing' abridged series does, rather than MAS or FiW. I personally like that.

And for the ones who dont know:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0_4nmW5GZhQ
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2nYozPLpJRE

Overall was okay, it had it's low moments and it's good moments:

Twilight and Spike were okay characters, but nothing too amazing
Applejack was a strange one, but thats my opinion.

I liked Appleboom character, tho. I feel it like Appleboom was 'the voice of reason' for her bigger sister, Applejack; and the younger sibling being 'the voice of reason' (again) is hillarious. Also I felt that Applejack will perform some sort of 'dumb' character?

Not enough screen time of Rainbow Dash to judge, same with Rarity and Pinkie Pie.

Fluttershy was kind of boring if her character will orbit around Rainbow Dash, but if she ends being some sort of neurotic bitch that will be okay, I suppose.

Celestia is meh. But I really like the swearing, deep thick black man voice on NMM, is fucking hillarious to hear.

Lastly, the humour is okay, but not too amazing; tho I can tell you're going on the correct path with this.
Keep improving, and dont rush it. I will definely keep watching further episodes

7/10

Thank you anon for your feedback! I will say this without giving too much away every character in the show will start somewhere and end somewhere some will take a bit longer than others but for the most part they will get to the goal I set for them.In a short term I basically made this show what would happen if these girls actually had to work at their friendship. Again can't give too much away since thats part of the fun.
>>
>>29697359
That's okay, again, don't rush it, take your time and do a good job.

On a sidenote, tho I think already you know this, keep in mind that, if you actually based this on the 'abridged' series I think you did, consider that with this you're aiming for a fairly smaller demographic, than the abridged series.

What I'm trying to say is that your series will grow slowly I believe, because the anime fanbase is way bigger than the MLP fanbase, so don't get descouraged if things takes time to develop, that's normal I say.

Here's some progress in a gaem I've been working on. I had to re-work the maps because of new tools available to me. This isn't probably high quality, it's made in RPG maker, but I'll do my best. Here's a webm of some testing.

Basically the setting ties in to EG, mostly because of the resources I'm using and also because of this idea I had for a time.
The gist of it is that it's a post-apocalyptic Equestria. In this timeline Tirek ended up absorbing most Equestrian magic and in a last ditch effort he was banished along with the magic. Because of the loss of their magic Luna and Celestia, being mortally wounded, become one with the celestial body, powerful pegasi become one with the weather and the surviving ponies morphed to a more suitable frame to survive in a post-magic environment. Amid all the chaos the prisoners of tartarus make their escape. The setting would take place long after the event when the survivors forget their Equestrian identity.

I'm trying to get some practice via fangame. Right now I'm trying to aim for a sorta original Fallout feel, I'm using some of the formulas as placeholders. Not many areas but with more detail. Also stats that influence dialogue and quests.

Weapons so far include swords, zweihanders, pikes, halberds, flanged and normal mace, two-headed axe, bow, crossbow and firelocks (guns).

Armor include gambeson, chainmail, coat of plates, breastplate, and plate armor with various helmet types like the armet, kettle helmet, great helm and others. Shields include round, heather and kite shield.
All equipment is visible on the character.

Races include Earth, Pegasi, Unicorn and Zebra equivalent, no names yet, with bonuses to base stats and skills.

Right now I'm testing out plugins and maps. Not much on combat but it's probably going to be the default RPG maker with sideview battlers.

I'm open to suggestions and criticism.
>>
The story I'm writing now has only been up for a few months that and has almost as many views as my first from years ago. I don't know what's up. I don't think the current story is so spectacular it should be raking in those numbers compared to other stories I've put a lot more effort into.

the 2 things I dont like about lua is that you dont instantiate variables (using a variable not assigned yet gives nill), and no symbol to show end of statements like ';' and '{...}', both of which are changed in squirrel (whcih was inspired by lua, but fixes all the annoyances the author had with it when he was using it in game development). The only reason id choose Lua over Squirrel is that lua has a larger community and should thus be less buggy and easier to use in C#.

I started a reading of some shitty fanfic someone linked in a cringe thread forever ago. The initial reception was alright, but I'm not sure if it's something that could sustain any kind of following.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PpFFZv-ABIQ

I learned a bit about recording loud voices since then so it no longer peaks. Episode 4 is done but not edited together yet and has been sitting in my documents for a month now.

Now I'm not looking for anyone to suck my dick but I would like to hear if this has any kind of potential to continue. I had planned to read a lot of, but not all of, this particular fanfic and then take requests for others. What do you guys think?
>>
>>29699188
1. You should not be trying to use variables before assigning them in the first place.
2. You CAN use semicolons in lua if you want to, you just don't have to.
>>
>>29699188
If you are bad at catching your undeclared variables you can use something like strict.lua to notify you about them (ie. creating variables into local scope).

For curly brackets you can use do-end-blocks.

Not that anon, but I used to render some poses for the 4cc using 3danon's models to try to generate some HYP, but I got kinda lazy and didn't make the others at the time.

I made was the last one I made during the Winter2016 cup then people completely ignored it which tanked all the motivation I had for other renders.

I still remember some of the poses I wanted to do next, maybe I should continue some time.

I also have a youtube channel where I'm doing "Dev vlogs". The videos are kinda cancer atm because during the winter I had no time to actually put any effort into editing. Now that my schedule is freeing up, I will be making more professional looking updates instead of recording with OBS and just winging it.

>Any advice on learning C/C++ and game related stuff? Some pages where you learned or something?
Game related stuff depends on what engine/libraries you want to use, but when it comes to the language, learn C (freenode ##c isn't a bad place to start) thoroughly and then learn C++. That is if you really want to learn it. If you just want to botch stuff together until it works, I'd recommend using something like Java or C# (or javascript, if you're particularly masochistic), or you'll end up like pic related.

Nil is very much a real (useful) datatype in lua. By using Strict, you're losing out on that. Variable return functions, variable send functions, and the coding paradigm in general heavily focuses on

{code modifying or creating 'x'}
if x then ...
OR
if type(x) == "table" ...
elseif type(x) == "string"

etc. Lose your Java mindset and begin to trust yourself with variables and catching exceptions and runtime cases and you'll be off much better as a programmer, in my opinion.

I put my name on things, it's just that if ever there's a thread where someone asks "Hey could someone provide me with Twilight green?" I'd never post my own works. I never mention my alias in content creator threads and I never put myself forward. I still write stories from time to time, but all of the attention I've received over the years was purely due to word-of-mouth and other people posting my stories around. It just makes me wonder what could be, since a close friend of mine recently started putting themselves out there and have garnered a huge amount of attention. I'm certainly not jealous as such, but it eats at the back of my mind a lot, the nagging question "what if you put effort into making yourself known, just how popular could you really get?"

Ego is fucking stupid.
>>
>>29705445
Programming language is irrelevant anyway. What matters is compiler quality. The language with the best compiler is the winning language. This makes C++ the best language.
>>
>>29705749
There is no 'best' language, best for what? Thats like saying a screwdriver is the best tool, better than a hammer. Sure I guess you could use the handle of a screwdriver to hit a nail into a wall, but using a hammer is much better.

Do you need autistic levels of performance, use C/C++
Do you want light weight scripts that can be edited on the fly, use python/lua
Do you want to do math with arrays, use J
Do you want a good libraries for windows, use C#/F#
Are you indian, use Java

I don't really like Java.
I got atleast some background in a couple different languages(most of them died by now) but never made it past the most basic and some advanced function in most cases. Mostly because I had no goal to pursue.
I learned C++ one but it changed so much since then that it feels like a completely new language to me.

Thanks you all for the answers!
>>
>>29710250
>>whatever you use, be sure to rewrite it in Rust afterwards ^:)
>Why?
I think he's memeing you, but Rust is actually a pretty good language. It fits the same niche as C/C++, but it's based on 20-year-old programming languages research, instead of 50-year-old PL research. Its main selling point is memory safety: any code that could segfault will produce a compile-time error instead.

>I learned C++ one but it changed so much since then that it feels like a completely new language to me.
Yeah, C++11 was a pretty big deal.

>could you name some examples for each?
Imperative: C/C++
Functional: Haskell or Lisp
OO: Ruby
Logic: Prolog?

>Is pearl still a thing?
Not really. These days most people use Python instead.

>What about html
HTML is still around, of course. CSS and Javascript have gotten pretty crazy in the past ~5 years.

>php
PHP is slightly less shitty than it used to be, but that means it's still really shitty. Use Python or Ruby instead for web stuff.

>SQL
Still around. There's also Mongo and other NoSQL databases.

>Also why learn a script language?
They're usually easier for building smallish programs. For larger systems you're better off with a compiled language with a static type system to catch bugs early.

Same reasoning applies to NoSQL vs SQL databases, by the way.

Is there anything like the glue function? I always wondered about the interaction of different languages.
You could always make an interface in form of some file but that seems like a hassle.

>"It makes us miserable."
Holy fucking shit, I know that feel.
Been doing pony shit since mid-2012, and it's just so fucking bland of a concept after 5 years. I know a lot of animators who feel really "tethered" to a lot of fandom work, just because it's expected of them as artists to never experiment with anything else.
Most people in the fandom who actively follow content, especially people here on /mlp/; believe that all pieces of content is created specifically for them. The truth of it is some people really just love animating/drawing/making music, and some just love getting sucked off by some group of autists.
It's not worth trying to stay relevant in this fandom anymore.

Thank you guys for all the information regarding programming languages!
I think I'm starting get a feel for it.

I would only need two more pieces of information.

>>29710402
>OO: Ruby
Do Python and C++ also match the criteria for this or is there anything special about Ruby in this regard?

Is there a library like SDL or SFML for Python that is good for beginners.
I'm looking for basic things like keyboard input, sounds and music, bitmap-background and text-bubbles, maybe even sprites.
>>
>>29723745
Ruby is the "purest" OO language that's in use these days. If you learn Ruby then you will definitely understand the principles of OOP by the time you're done.

Python and C++ both support OO, but they don't follow the OO paradigm as strictly, so you can learn Python/C++ without needing to fully understand the ideas.

>Is there a library like SDL or SFML for Python that is good for beginners.
There are python bindings for both SDL (called Pygame) and SFML.

Not that anon, but if someone is known for pony stuff and people come to him exclusively to see such content, switching gears and doing something that is not expected of them could feel as though they're doing disservice to their fans.

>>Is pearl still a thing?
>Not really.
It's still got its niche and afaik perl5 is still backwards compatible pretty much all the way. And perl is much closer to shell then, say python, and thus better suited as a systems scripting language IMO. Generally it just has kinda specific appeal though and looks scary, so python gets all the newbies. Also perl6 should really be called perl++. Just so you know if you come across it.

>PHP is slightly less shitty than it used to be, but that means it's still really shitty. Use Python or Ruby instead for web stuff.
php 7 is actually decent. Much of it comes down to personal preference, but php 7 is faster than both and is procedural language with OO capabilities and (newly) some stricter typing. Ruby is pure OO with pretty weak typing, which I hate (though there's something about capability based programming, so maybe it's not that bad). Python is decent but slow.

Well, personally I couldn't give a shit if somebody stops doing pony stuff. I can sympathize with them. It's just the mass majority of content producer's fans always expect them to make content that they followed them for. If an animator known for animating suddenly drops their pony animation stuff, then hops into something completely different like music/songwriting while posting it on the same channel, the mass of the fans aren't really going to give a shit about it. Exactly what this anon here said >>29723911
Ponies are really limited in the animation community. There's so many other ideas out there you can make when you're not tethered/attached to forcing a pony into the work. Fanfics and art can have all kinds of different ideas and silly stories, but most followers of the animation community in the fandom seem to always expect MLP show accurate skits and videos based off of jokes and things from some episode or some shit. It's very bland after so long.
>>
>>29723745
The thing with C++ is that it tries really hard to be totally different language than C, but the committee couldn't agree on some stuff, so sometimes you're stuck with doing it the c90 way (because of course they didn't include any C development either). Some people are pretending that
>"you don't have to know any of the ugly low level stuff like pointers, just learn to use the stl"
but you're gonna run into issues sooner or later, so you're still better off learning C first.

You say it as ALL your fans will bully you if you suddenly change the subject in your art.

Like, 99% of the fans are pretty ok with their fav artist changing subjects and just telling why. There's 1% of assholes, of course, but they don't need attention.

This isn't a excuse to say that ponies are limiting you from doing different things anyway.

>but most followers of the animation community in the fandom seem to always expect MLP show accurate skits and videos based off of jokes and things from some episode or some shit
So, was Duo-Cartoon doing it wrong since their animation were like disney's cartoon?

(I know is not only one but we anonymous, faggots.)
>>
>>29724173
Only 1% are assholes, but a lot more than 1% will quietly stop watching your videos if they subscribed for MLP content and you suddenly jump ship and start making FNAF/SU or even non-fandom content.

>>

>>
>>29724193
I mean if 50,000 people sub to you for MLP stuff and you switch to do something else less than 100 people will really leave. From experience can tell you that if you're doing i dont know say, brony music and then switch to other fandoms most of your fans will be supportive enough to stick with you.
>>
>>29724193
These subscribers were going away anyway since
1: you don't post nothing anymore
2: you don't like ponies anymore
3: you jump to another fandom completally

But if you still like ponies, and still producing ponies content, do something different will not hurt you.
Also you can ponify everything, and there's not such thing as "forced ponies".

The content posted for years is always going to be under the assumption that it was made for the fans. I didn't mean it in the sense of fans bullying a creator for quitting fandom work, but as a clear example, depending on the amount of notoriety in the fandom somebody has, there will be a lot of upset/whining people out there who will consistently bitch about the fact that somebody just got sick of making pony content. Usually, as you said, they can be ignored though. I was just stating an observation.
Duo Cartoonist was doing an amazing job as animators. Their animations were unique and very impressive. Although much like quite a lot of fandom content, it's bland as all hell.
I guess I might've been paying too much attention to the small minority of idiots wanting content because they can't be arsed to make any themselves. In general, I can genuinely see why making MLP content would make somebody miserable. Making pony content for people is so draining, and there's never really any payoff for it. Just a shitty pony moving on the screen and the same old comments asking what program you use and what video is next.

This. If you're catering to an audience that wants pony stuff and then you stop making pony stuff, don't be surprised when they stop giving a shit.
Truth is, making stuff for a sizeable fandom is such an easy kickstart. Even the most mediocre animation with a pony in it will get (or at least back when the fandom was more active) you reposted across the whole fandom, from this board, EqD, DHN to reddit and various forums. You're basically getting free promotion, except it's not really free.
Tell me, if a hypothetical song or an animated short of yours wasn't pony, do you think it would still sit on a few thousand views, or more like fifty total, because nobody would care? Would Duocartoonist have almost 4 million views on The Moon Rises, 40 on Children of the Night and 200 thousand subscribers, if they never delved into fandom stuff?
You're marketing to a niche audience that wants content in a certain theme. In exchange you're getting free attention and the ability to skip the toils of trying to make yourself relevant. You completely bypassed the first weeks, months or years of being a literally who with a couple hundred views, and got straight to the top with millions of views. But you didn't get 200k subscribers who love you for making animations, you got 200k subscribers who love you for making pony. That's the price of the free promotion.
Some will stick around even when you leave, but you'll slowly fade into obscurity anyways. Maybe you'll still get some of that extra promotion for your service to the fandom, but don't expect much. Most of the audience that gave you millions of views won't give a fuck. You skipped the hard work of building up a subscriber base that is loyal to you, so don't get surprised when they leave.
I wish Duocartoonist best of luck, I really do, but I'm afraid they won't get anywhere. Especially since you can't make such high quality animation on a more regular, frequent basis to catch people's attention.
>>
>>29725929
This is more me venting than aiming it at the animators, but god do I fucking hate when artists say that making pony stuff is cringe, that they're done with it, and even better when they cry about how nobody cares about them anymore. You have an already fickle fanbase and instead of trying to keep them through some compromise (I'm still on that pony stuff but I want to give some original shit a whirl), you're alienating them, calling the only reason they even follow you cringe, and then give them no reason to follow you anymore. Good fucking job. Even better when they delete their channel/page/whatever, trying to start anew, and then have the audacity to bitch about how they nosedived back to 50 views per video and five bucks on patreon. Like I don't know just how much on a delusional ego trip you have to be to not see that coming.

Oh wow, I'm having a great day today.

For C, any common POSIX-ish OS is a good IDE. I've read that MS recently included C99 support so it's not as terrible as it used to be, but I'd still avoid it for non-MS languages. qt-creator is all round great IDE. I'd use that and mingw, if it has to be windows.
>>
>>29725978
I completely agree with this sentiment.

I'm subscribed to 300+ youtube channels that I discovered thanks to something pony related. In some of those channels, pony is just a tiny fraction of all the content, and I don't care. I don't expect anyone to do nothing but pony, I don't even expect them to keep on doing pony forever. But when someone who has been doing nothing but pony suddenly says "I'm not doing pony anymore because it's too much cringe", OK, immediate unsubscribe, fuck you, go fool someone else.

Finally i've finished to do the Reduced Ruleset for my pen and paper RPG based on MLP. So y'all amerifags/britishfag/thosewhoreadsenglish-fags can now enjoy it.

Still i'm checking some grammars with Rot on the Content Creator Discord.

Also:

- Updating Pony Edition to 1.1 since i've added two extra races (only for Pony Edition): Crystal Ponies and Hippogriff, since it seems that in the movie there is one or something like that. Also "muh Hyppogriff" for those few people on earth who have that heres... Race.

- Created some pre-made Pony Adventurers for the Pony edition both with Metric and Imperial System

To Do:

- Finish to translate from Italian to English the small compendium for the stats of some NPCs and Monsters

- Finish to convert the Anthro Pre-Made adventurers from metric System to Imperial System

- Everything else, like send the stuff and links to EqG

Have a picture of an Armored Diamond Dog that i've made for the game

>Please read, rate, review

You might want to break up the first chapter into at least 2-3 separate ones. 17k is pretty long for a single chapter.

I only read up through the scene where Coffee sees the green and yellow ponies arguing about where Silver Star is. The part I read wasn't too bad overall.

Here's some more specific feedback:

That first paragraph is brutal. Too much detail all at once. If the point is that the most important pony in the world walked into a generic office lobby, then you should just say that. It shouldn't require 132 words.

>cast a spell that would have multiplied the speed at which it moved, functioned, and existed by four
Where the hell did Coffee learn a spell like that? I'd expect it from Twilight or Glimmer, but not from some random guy with a cutie mark in coffee.

>Some may say he was bad at managing a store. And while they were technically right
It's very surprising to see a character who thinks he's such a big deal admit that he's bad at basically everything he does, even to himself.

>the powerful, the connected, the elusive, the legendarily and utterly unnecessarily rich Silver Star
For the love of god, don't describe your self-insert this way. Writing a blatant self-insert fic is bad enough on its own, but having description like this in the very first chapter just screams "Mary Sue".

>The room was set up with dark browns coating the room...
Too much detail again in this paragraph.

Is Coffee actually going to be a major character? Because if not, and he's just there to let you introduce the real main character, I think you should simplify his story a lot.

I love these threads. It's encouraging to see that there is still genuine passion for content creation on various levels. Much needed especially when videos like this come up causing feels https://youtu.be/4FQq2GYl9YA

It's difficult to make content completely original because YouTube's shitty system makes it harder for people to find. But the second you make a remix or parody, it can be susceptible to take downs, claims, or docked revenue due to higher competition.

I love making content, but it's unethically discouraging at times for sure.

How is everyone holding up these days?

Apparently Toastie went over to "Ostereo" and along the way gave them ownership of the music. And so, they decided it would be a terrific idea to go and delet everything else that had given rise to it. Looks like BDP is just waiting for Toastie to save them all.
>>
>>29741486
So like, there are things called networks on YouTube. Some of them are also Record Labels.

From what I found in the video and then looked into myself with some other dudes was that Wooden Toaster signed with a network (Ostereo) that recently got approved as a record label as well. When that happened, they claimed the NMN video by Brony Dance Party. He thought that's all they were gonna do since YT revenue is shit and knew he didn't own the song anyways. However they contacted him telling him he needed to purchase a license to keep it up. Those can cost thousands of dollars from these greedy networks in some countries. BDP couldn't afford it according to him and he tried telling them that it was unnecessary to remove the video. They took it down anyways when he didn't buy the license.

So that's the story according to him.

Now, the problem is that he could be lying and he took it down as soon as he found out he couldn't monetize it anymore. Why would he say that? Maybe to give himself an excuse to move on from Pony altogether as he mentions he is looking into SU and UT. Some people are afraid of moving into new franchises because they think their fans will turn on them if they do it without certain recourse.

I had my Wooden Toaster/Glaze videos all claimed a month or so ago. Won some disputes, lost some. Regardless it doesn't matter to me since they were making jack shit in revenue and I only made them because I really wanted to learn the songs on piano myself. However I never had any of my stuff taken down. We do have different channels to be fair though.

TL:DR

He had his videos taken down as a result of a record label getting rights to Glaze's songs and he refused to buy a license. However he could be lying just to give him more ground to leave pony for other content from other fandoms.
>>
>>29741744

>>
>>29741785
Yea I knew that part definitely was after looking into claims. But I've never heard of a company demanding a random YouTuber pay for a license or else they take down a video. That stuff happens to big name news channels not fucking bronies. Now maybe they issued a C&D like lots of people get. But BDP didn't use that word so I can only suspect.

Regardless, Wooden Toaster probably won't do shit. He'd have to tell his network to stop auto-claiming and allow all his content to be used for fair use (or Creative Commons) and stuff.

Wooden Toaster is gonna ignore it like it's not even going on because that is what he's always done even before Ostereo with people like me. Guy wasn't personal even when he was in the fandom. I like his music though.

If BDP made a fuckload of money off of WT's music and didn't bother to pay him, that's kinda fucked up. Granted, it's also WT's fault for not asking for a cut when the agreement was made, but maybe he thought BDP was making the animation without it being monetized? Either way, it just sounds really messy and both of them could have handled this situation better. If BDP was making money off of it, he should have given WT a cut.
>>
>>29694193
Put it through google translate. It'll be great.
>>
>>29746785
OK, but then why didn't Ostereo just claim the monetization and call it good? Were they trying to get the 50% retroactively as well? I could imagine that being a significant sum, which fits with BDP's claim that they demanded more money than he could reasonably pay.

By the way, it looks like Ostereo really did take down the video. The video page https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kle9DkkwlM8 says "no longer available due to a copyright claim by Ostereo Limited" rather than "removed by the uploader".

>black scene
Well as I said its in progress. Its still in the polishing a finalizing phases. So he still needs to get some stuff in order. So the black scenes are still scenes that need to be put in.

>reuse of animation
Well to be honest man as much as we wish we could find more places to use different animation we have to reuse a lot of scenes to fit with the scenes. Of course we can always cut the characters out of different scenes and splice them in with the proper background but that
takes QUITE a while to do especially for someone who is very much still a rookie at this type of editing.

anything silly or goofy is fine
Thats added after all the lines and scenes are put together.

Take it down and try again. The dialogue and the voices are awful.
Now all you just did was point out how in the original episode the mane6 jump to help Twilight when they barely know her. Funny enough we've actually had our sound guy equalize all the audio but I think when it compresses on youtube is really messes with the audio. It sounded just fine when he sent the video file before uploading it. We have to look into fixing that for future episodes.
>>
>>29752343
Work with the audio in Adobe Audition. It's a great program for mixing and audio shit. Apparently it also has some video stuff involved with it, but I personally only use it for music/VA stuff. Sony Vegas is pretty decent enough if the audio engineer knows what they're doing.
Not sure why the YouTube video's audio would be messed up, though.

>Any advice on learning C/C++ and game related stuff?
I know others have given you plenty of replies, but I figure I'd weigh in my shitty opinion.

I don't know what your background is, but I'd recommend the following path:
-Learn Python and make a couple shitty games in it. Learning Python takes all of 3 days if you've got any prior experience with programming, and all of a week if you don't. It may be loosely typed (as opposed to C), but it's still a pretty versatile language in its own right. There's a great introductory website called invent with python, which will give you a quick rundown on the language, as well as get you started with Pygame.

-After you've made a couple small projects in Python, start learning C. There's a shit ton of books here to choose from, so just pick any of them. The classic is "The C Programming Language, 2nd Edition" which is available everywhere on the internet. Grab a copy and start plinking away.

-After you've made enough headway in C, start C++ and just like, make game.

You might be wondering, why learn Python first? Isn't it a waste of time?

Realistically (and I'm projecting a bit here), you'll probably get burned out if you just dive headfirst into C, then headfirst into C++. If you're new to either of those languages, it'll be a while before you can make even a shitty game. The reason to learn Python first is it doesn't take that long to learn the basics, and it doesn't take that long to start making some smaller projects. This way, you can work on your silly Python games as you learn the other languages. Think of it as tiding you over until you're comfortable enough with C++.

As a bonus, you'll also be learning handy game logic that doesn't really change when the language does. Your Python games won't be too hard to "translate" to C++. Also, Python itself is kind of handy to learn, so who knows, you might accidentally enjoy yourself.

tl;dr [comment too long].

Fyi, it's generally better to use sys.exit() instead of just quit(). You could save yourself a line of code and move

pygame.quit()
sys.exit()

to where quitting = 1 is.

This will also allow you to just say "while True:" or "while 1:" instead.

As far as the rest goes, it looks fine for simple experimentation. Are you having any problems with it?
>>
>>29753992
You use 'quitting' as a boolean yet set it an integer value.
Why would you do this? It works but it's convoluted.
>>
>>29754805
Makes sense if you're a C programmer. But using True/False instead of 1/0 is more idiomatic in Python.

> Life has never been easy. Unceasing battles, bloodshed, tragedies everywhere, this war only brought sadness and desolation throughout the land of Equestria. When you moved to Manhattan, it was not to run away from her. You were made for deception, deception, lies, and betrayal. Pretty close I think.

Once you've got a decent understanding of Pygame, it shouldn't be too hard to switch over to C++. Obviously the function calls will be different, but you'll mostly be going "Oh, so that's the function call in C++".

The performance difference probably won't even be that noticeable for smaller projects.
