The plane's engines rumble outside the cabin, nearly sophomore in their litany.
Hmm... mental purple prosing, that's not a good sign. You lock the controls of the plane with the flick of a switch and go to the back area to eat something, compensating for the subtle changes in the floor's angle without quite noticing.
Your eyes pass over the cargo manifesto on your way: Two tons of fertilizer, mining, deforesting and construction tools, explosives (The boxes that keep it safe weighting thrice as much as the small packages themselves) and of course rope. All that's necessary to make a mining outpost.
And sweet sweet money (And rest! And social interaction! And a heater that isn't broken!) for you when you reach your destination, you tell to yourself as you turn on the coffee machine. And maybe even coffee that doesn't taste horribly, just maybe.
Hey, that rhymes!
OhfuckTHATBURNS
You grab a water bottle from the icebox (Why did you even bring THAT to fly over taiga?) and spray it over your hurt hoovsies, squeezing it open with your jaws and trying to think of what might be the cause of the sudden shake.
The answer comes as soon as you look up-- through the window you can see that one of the plane's turbines is smoking, sparks from a fire trailing behind.

>>
>>29687031

>>
>>29687031
>>29687207
Just take everything we can, the explosives shouldn't detonate, and if they are the kind that can explode on impact then that means we'd have to hit the ground hard enough to kill us anyways.
>>
>>29687031
Some of the cargo should have parachutes.

Your thoughts turn immediately to the explosives. Those boxes are thick, nigh impenetrable, but they conduct heat like nobodies business. With a flaming plane, it'll be no time at all before the explosives go off in their boxes, and then there goes any chance of getting out of this mess you might have.
You wobble to and fro, the plane shaking violently as the other turbine starts to fail, unable to pick up it's siblings slack. You crash into the walls a couple times on your way to the explosives, reflexively neighing in protest a few times. If your very life weren't in danger, you might be a bit embarrassed; but it is, so you aren't.

Grabbing the nearby parachute, you get ready to affix it to the box of explosives and send it floating to the ground below. As the shaking intensifies, you consider that maybe you should go the way of these explosives and get the hell out of here. Of course, if you're going to be jumping out of a plane, you're going to need more than some explosives, a parachute and a good attitude.
You move over to the mining supplies, and find a few things that will be essential for whatever might be out there: a survivalist's axe, an pick, an emergency blanket, and about a day or two's worth of food and water. You grab a parachute of your own, and affix the rest of the supplies to your person, ready to leap.

You push the explosives with all your might out of the plane, pulling the cord on the attached parachute as you do. It falls rapidly for a moment and then starts floating not-so-gently to the ground. You follow suit, not eager to be roasted alive. You pull the cord quickly, and while you're jostled, you're mostly safe. You watch as your cargo plane disappears into the forest below, burning all the way.
That selfsame forest is below you, with a clearing of to your right, and to your left a river. Where should you land?

199
>>
>>29687441
Why not just perform the emergency checklist for an engine fire and cut off the fuel to it.
>>
>>29687441
Aim for the clearing; getting impaled on a poplar would just be an awful way to start, ditto getting wet.

Pray the snow in deep and brace for impact.

You spot a clearing mostly free of trees to "safely" land. Safely as in you won't be impaled by trees. You take hold of the reigns and begin to maneuver the parachute towards the bare spot of snow, hoping that it's a soft landing.
You can't help but wonder if the plane could've been saved, but thinking about it there's no way that old bird could reach and airspeed quick enough to make an incombustible mixture without tearing apart itself.
The large crash of the plane in the distance snaps you from your thoughts, and you're left with the empty feeling of dread as the situation really sinks into you.
Cold air beginning to seep through your jacket, you ready yourself for a landing as the snow comes rapidly closer.
OOF!
Well, Not the most graceful arrival, but you're alive at least. The parachute draping over you like a blanket, you almost want to curl up and sleep this miserable situation away. You steel yourself for the upcoming challenges as your bone shake in response to the cold.
The sun's getting low, you need to find some shelter. To the east you see a densely wooded area, to the east what looks to be signs of a lake.

A deep sense of grief fills you, memories of Planey flooding with it. Getting drunk in it, repainting it, playing dice games with the gauges as dies...
You cry marely tears and make a symbolic tomb for it, grabbing a piece of wing that fell with you to keep you company.
Rest in peace, Planey. May the great winds of insurance guide you safely to the grand airport beyond the stars.
The tears freeze on your face, reminding you of the frigid winds that definitely won't guide you to safety.

Trees are the best bet for shelter. The lake could have some food, but that is a problem for later.

grab that parachute and head for the trees- it's time to build a temporary home. Axe off some spruce and puine boughs and a couple of saplings. Parachute line for rope, parachute material for the interior of the shelter, followed by the spruce, then a heaping of snow.

Don't work fast- sweating is no es bueno.
>>
>>29688130
masturbate in grief
>>
>>29688375
>>29688540

Your metallic, winged companion metaphorically laid to rest, you can't focus on anything, you're so overcome with grief. A grief so powerful, it prevents you from moving. You have felt this grief only a hoofful of times in your life. And each time, there has only been one thing able to pull you out from these darkest depths: furious masturbation.
Your flannel, though tightly buttoned, offers no restriction as you reach back to your nethers, your lips already moist and eager for a good session. Your mind fades to black as you spend several minutes satisfying your carnal needs.
192

You come to your senses not long after, a bit happier, but still not any better off. In fact, the juices you secreted during your "mourning period" have left your left hoof extremely, bitterly cold and your nethers feel ready to freeze. Maybe masturbating wasn't such a good idea after all. Oh well. Can't take it back now.
The first thing you need to concern yourself with is shelter. No telling how long you're going to be out here, or when you'll find help. so creating a place to keep warm and lay your head is priority.
You head to the trees, ready to slice off a few branches and pitch yourself a tent. Crumpled parachute in tow, you take swing at the branches with your axe, cutting them free of their homes. You swing quickly, but are careful not to overexert; sweating in this climate would be suicide.
Gathering a sufficient amount of branches, you use the parachute line to tie the branches together and create a base. You then take the chute itself and wrap it around, forming a sheltered interior for you to rest in should you get tired. You also roll up a nice, thick ball of snow, to use as a plug.

All right, good. Tent pitched, you've got somewhere to sleep. It's not nearly time to sleep though. There are things to do. But what?

Really wish I had the Tinepone to participate, but I can't. I will say this though.
Salvage the plane and all its contents of its valuables, get a camp fire set up, make sure you have weapons and at least one on you at all time, chop some wood or gather stuff to make a fire, check food supply, consider killing animals for nutrients.
>>
>>29687636
Agreed. I kind of hope it does not finish so new qms can give it a shot.

You climb a nearby tree to assess the immediate surroundings... the river's still there, and there's what seems like remains of manufactured wood in its coast, and hey, you probably should stay away from that group of bears.
Bears.
That looks arous... the frozen juices on your hoof make you decide against it. Maybe when you are better off.
With a sense of purpose and pent up sexual tension that might not be well placed, you climb down from the tree and head for the remains of the plane, noticing the smoke on your way there... oh golly. That fire doesn't look good.
Hey, a shovel, a jacket that's too heavy to wear comfortably, and some rope!

You slide away from the fire -the group of trees on fire is somewhat separate from the others, so maybe it won't expand beyond them- and go back on your steps, heading for the place where you saw some animals digging the snow.
Are those... deer? You peek from behind a tree. Their small black eyes don't seem to be focused in anything in particular as they dig the snow with their cloven hooves, the elk that accompanies the three smaller mares stands vigilant, his eyes not attentive as much as less unfocused than those of the others. And the old, battered spears that hang each against one of his sides don't give you good feelings either.

Staring at the form of the mighty elk, you can feel a stirring in your near frozen loins. Thinking about how he and his harem of does must spend hours out of there day just copulating, thrusting, mating... you need some of that. Right now. And you'll take it by force if you have to.
You take care and try your best to sneak up on the group of four. Outnumbered? Outgunned? Yes to both. But you know what you want and you're going to take it.
You pounce on one of the does, startling her and causing her to buck wildly.
"Just let it happen!" ,you shout furiously, trying your best to keep a grip on the doe and subdue her. Your grip loosens as you feel something knock against the side of your head, hard and fast. You crash to the snow, bleeding from the side of your head, and cry out in pain as the buck of the group stabs you in the hind leg with his spear. As you watch the group bound into the wilderness, you can safely say that any lewd thoughts have vanished from your head. You honestly don't know where they were coming from in the first place, but boy do you feel like an idiot for worrying about sex instead of survival.

As you stand up, you can feel a heaviness in the leg that was stabbed. The wound isn't deep, but the spear that elk was using must have been coated in some kind of paralytic. You can still move, but just about everything you do is going to require a bit more effort. For how long, you can't say. You just hope it works it's way out of your body soon.
Well, time's wasting. You have shelter, but you still need food. The plane might also bare more supplies, but you don't no if you want to risk the flames. There's also the river nearby, whatever it has to offer.
188
>>
>>29694367
Go to the river.

We should have fucked the stag instead then he could not attack us.
>>
>>29694367
Wake up and realize it was all just a dream. You nodded off at the controls briefly and are still in the air. Then land the plane and finish your delivery. Then go on to have a full life where you are fulfilled and have a family and several beautiful foals. Never think of this dark dream again and let it slowly fade from both your and our memories.

>>29694650
You decide your best bet for food is by the river. I mean if there's a whole bunch of bears there it must be close to spawning season for the salmon. Through pained motions and over-exertions you make your way across the clearing and reach the river, being sure not to walk directly into the path of the bear group. You plant yourself next to the waterside and take a nice long drink, making sure you don't fall in or drink too much. That would be disastrous.
You allow yourself to lay for a bit, collecting yourself after that battle.
You feel awfully tired, maybe it wouldn't hurt just to let your eyes rest a bit...
You wake up from your dream with a start, greeted with a shaking hula pone on your plane's dashboard. O-oh man, what a dream. You reach over to your thermos to grab some coffee, help wake you up. You unscrew the top but fumble and spill it all over yourself.
You reel back in shock, expecting to be burned.
But it's, cold?
Really cold.
A cold the spreads it'self throughout your entire being. WHat the hell is going on?
You suddenly wake, back into the real world, where you've fallen into the river.
This is NOT good.

153
>>
>>29694899

Oh
Oh no.
We may have just died. We need to get out of the damn river and get back to something warm, quickly. Drying ourselves and restoring body heat just became out top priority.
>>
>>29694899
Go for a swm.
>>
>>29694911
>>29695119
You swim to the river's shore, trying to keep your breathing in check. Not the moment to waste air, or anything in all truth...
You drag yourself up to the shore, the frigid snow warm in comparison, and don't give yourself time to shiver, instead collecting wood in a rush, hoping that the movement -impaired as it is by the poison- will keep you, if not warm, from getting even colder.
Either there aren't that many deer or they don't care much for fire, as the wood's plentiful. A few pieces that are too troublesome to be carried on their own are swiftly cut to more manageable sizes with swipes of your axe, the reports echoing across the seemingly empty tundra.
It's only when you've collected the wood that you realize you don't have any way to start a fire.

148

>Start a fire.

Anon pls. At least comment to rub two sticks together or something.
>>
>>29695541
>>29695656

Well, can't have a fire if you don't even try!
You hold the bundle of sticks in your hooves, beginning to glare at them. Maybe if you dream hard enough, the gods of fire will come and ignite a spark for you. A-And then maybe they'll stick around, letting you wrap your hooves around them as you trail one hoof further down, embracing them as you lean in to-
The cold jolt as your still freezing hoof touches your nethers helps you come back to reality. This fire wasn't going to light itself.
You use your axe to pry the sticks just a little bit further apart, creating some tinder. Then, you take two of the sticks, laying them down, and spinning one stick in the middle as fast you can.
It takes roughly five minutes of freezing your flank off, but you finally see a hint of smoke from the friction. And then a deeply satisfying yellow glow flares to life just after.
A cold gust of wind threatens to topple your pile of tinder and extinguish the flames. How are you going to keep this fire alive?

144
>>
>>29695891
Shelter the fire from the wind with your body. It will keep the flame safe as it grows and help you to gain the most heat possible from it. As you start to warm up and dry out we can try to arrange more wood around ourselves to form a better barrier against the elements. If that doesn't work, we can wait until the fire is big enough to be transplanted on a burning branch to a better location with more shelter.

Fuck it. I'm going to play. I don't like it and I'm not happy, but I'm going to play. I resent the aggressive tone you had in the general and the way you talked about how you're going to finally finish the quest and kill the meme. It felt arrogant and offputting. I still can't stand to see a pony suffering though so I'm going to hatefuck this quest and contribute anyway.

As the flames begin to grow, you use you're still sopping wet body to protect them from the elements. The wind beats against you, before barely noticeable, but now running across you like a thousand tiny knives, the very vibrations of the air painful. But your efforts are soon rewarded.
As the flicker turns to a steady burn, you surround the fire with branches, placing them in a teepee formation around the still growing heat source. You take the liberty of huddling, trying to stave off the cold. The flames grow on, and becomes a mighty roaring bonfire. It's very sight warms your spirit and clears your head... clears your head...
You think back on the actions you've taken in the past hour or so: you masturbated when you should have been worrying about survival and tried to rape a doe. You tried. To rape. A doe. That's not you. It's never been you. You have a kid dammit.... Just thinking about the depravity of the actions you've taken is enough to crumble your dignity and make you want to give up.
But giving up isn't you either. You've made some pretty out there decisions yeah. But you'll blame them on the knocks you took while you were trying to escape the plane. You neighed, for Celestia's sake. Who neighs?! But your thoughts have returned to you. You have clarity, determination and a clear goal: you need to find somepony, anypony, and get out of this wilderness. And you won't do any of that sitting here feeling sorry for yourself or worrying about what you could've done better.

Your resolve redoubled, you consider what you can do. You've got a nice fire going now; maybe you could take a branch and use it like a torch to bring it back to your camp. Then again, you haven't even started worrying about food yet. And you really should. Of all the ways to go, starving is not the most pleasant.
144
>>
>>29696471
Fire first. Try to transport it back to camp. If we have the strength bring some of the extra wood too. We need the fire first since if we start to freeze we won't be able to go looking for food. Plus the fire could help us melt snow for water and maybe even find some pitiful grass or bushes under the snow to munch on until we get real food.
>>
>>29696471
I'll take it

>>29696555

>>
>>29696555
>>29696832
Fire is definitely crucial for survival, in fact, it is as crucial as the shelter you already built. The same shelter that you should probably get back to soon, the sun is already on it's way down.
You curse under your breath as you try to pick up one of the burning branches from the fire, singing your fur in the process. The branch drops in the snow, melting a little but ultimately getting extinguished.
Quickly you stick your hoof into a small hill of snow in hope to fight the burn at least slightly. Fortunately for you, it actually was only fur that got burned so your hoof is still usable.
A second inured one might have been your death here.

Attempting to take out another branch, albeit much more careful this time, you succeed and hold a torch in your hoof. The flame is far from strong but you hope it'll hold long enough to get you back to camp.
Not wanting to abandon all the firewood you brought with you, you secure some of it to your back with the rope.
The wet rope. Combined with the icy tundra wind it gets stiff and freezing cold, feeling almost as if a blade of pure ice cuts into your side.
With the still paralyzed hind leg of yours you slowly start to limp away from the fire, making your way westwards and back to the small tent you made.

[1/2]
>>
>>29696868
It takes all your willpower to not just collapse right there in the snow after the day you had so far, but you know exactly what's on the line.
You... you didn't even say goodbye. You left and you never said goodbye to him... it dawns on you that this could have been the last time that you saw him ever again
If you were to never return home, your son... no, Piney stop thinking of this, do it for him. Survive and see his happy smile again as you take him into a big hug

The sun is about to disappear behind the horizon as you see your base come up in the distance. And just like that, a strong blow of wind hits you, digging straight through your clothes and fur,
chilling your very bones. And as you look back at the branch in your hand, you see that the fire you held is barely able to keep burning itself alive,
struggling just as much as you against the freezing temperatures.

I came in late and don't know what our shelter is. If there is any ventilation bring the fire in with us before we go to sleep. Otherwise put a small hole in the roof for smoke and then bring it in. We'll be warm when we wake up in the morning.

Surefire way to die.

Rocks; two or three fist-sized rocks set against the fire to warm up, then before bed you shuffle two into the shelter with some sticks to heat the place with much less risk of fire. If you wake up cold, you shuffle in the third and put the other two back.

Fuck you harder. I'd rather see a quest die with dignity than resort to using shitposts.

Could you stop trying to stir up drama?

Planes can fly.
>>

I'm not starting shit. The guy said fuck you and I said fuck you back. It is my sincere opinion that a QM should never use shitposts. If he wanted to give his reasons why he thinks using shitposts are okay then I would be glad to give my reasons why I think they aren't. But he wanted to just say fuck you and I'm fine with doing that too.
>>
It is getting very unpleasant in here. Do you think that maybe we could start over so we can avoid all the things we are fighting about? The counter says we're only 57 posts in and I would gladly go that far back to avoid all... this.
>>
>>29697860
>Could you stop trying to stir up drama?
to be fair I did say fuck you to him so i kinda started it.

still fuck you as much as i do want this quest to end you are a faggot.

no fuck you I bet you are the faggot who convinced the qm to fuck up Planeswalker.

Now that I can respect. Fuck you back a second time anon. Thanks. You're a pretty cool guy even if I disagree with you. Fuck you.

this was faggotry

This was fine.

Guys, can we please drop this bullshit and just play the fucking quest? Thank fucking you, Jesus H. Fucking Christ.

>anons try to masturbate in the cold
>anons try to fuck fuck doe
>anons swim in freezing water
>anons forget to build fire near the campsite
>anons bringing Piney ever closer to death
Wow you anons are idiots. Doesn't matter if you posted the stupid suggestions or not. By not opposing those stupid suggestions, you all are as much to blame.

The parachute tent was a good idea, not so much building it one the spot instead of building it near something noteworthy, like close to the plane so we could salvage some of the parts if any. Did anons forget about those two items near Planey's grave?

Items & constructs:
-axe
-tent
-shovel
-heavy uncomfortable jacket (wet)
-rope
-plane: probably still burning (slight chance of salvage later or now depending on action)
-burning stick (slowly dying)

Injuries and discomforts:
-nether regions: chilly
-hoof: covered in juice
-hindleg: stab wound from spear (if stone, apply alcohol. If metal, you're slightly fucked)
-Head: bleeding that may have stopped. Cause, blunt trauma causing tearing of skin?
-Poisoned: non-lethal. Attacker as a Buck. Causes lethargy of sorts. Affected area, hindleg.
-hypothermia: no doubt about it. Soaking wet clothes, swimming through freezing water, lowering of outdoor temperatures from sunset.
>>
>>29697655
There was a big fucking hint you shit for brains. No non sentient creature would be walking around with spears.
>>
>>29699154
As you were told in the general, if someone isn't there they can't oppose anything. Now fuck off retard.
>>
>>29696875
>>29697049
I'm not too sure if bringing a burning stick into the tent is a great idea. I don't think the tent is tall enough where it won't get singed by fire, and there's also this storm outside so hole in the roof would be a bad idea. Do you have a link or any evidence that building a fire inside the tent would work and not be hazardous at all?

Do we have anything in our pockets we have yet to account for? Food? Snacks? . Pocket knife? Lighter?
>>
>>29696875
Was there enough parachute canvas left to be used as a floor, or do we need to shovel snow out of the tent?
>>
>>29696875
You know what, fuck it. I change my opposition about the fire. There's no way she can keep the fire alive outside in that story. Man I wish I was here earlier to provide input. Freaking work.

Dig out the snow in the tent. Make the campfire slightly off to the side of the tent entrance, a bit away from it. Place the burning branch somewhere ideal. Get some modest sized rocks to surround the fire pit. Go grab some bits of metal wing sheet. Make some kind of improvised table / roof over the fire using a small segment of wing and some of the wood we collected. How tall is the tent?
>>
>>29700466
>>29696875
My reasoning for the improvised mini roof / table / grill was to keep the fire from burning a hole through the roof.
>>
>>29696875
Any grass or flowers under the snow?

>You move over to the mining supplies, and find a few things that will be essential for whatever might be out there: a survivalist's axe, an pick, an emergency blanket, and about a day or two's worth of food and water.
Forgot to include that quote in my post. Again, forgetful bastard forgot we had food and water.

You rush your way back to camp, and hopefully safety. As the sun vanishes from the sky, so does the last bit of light, barring your flickering torch. It won't last long, you need to get to camp stat. Only seeing five feet ahead of you makes that difficult though, and the darkness is oppressive, misleading and distracting you. Out here you feel, watched, stalked almost. Whatever dangerous creatures skulk during the day, you know things can only get worse for you during the night, so you pick up the pace, exerting yourself only slightly more.
When you finally find the camp you breathe a sign of relief, though your lack of movement reminds you of the ever creeping cold. You mull over a few designs for your fire, something to keep it alive, and to keep you warm at night. You decide that the best place would be right at the entrance. You quickly get to setting the other wood ablaze, it takes a while as they aren't very thinly cut, but you succeed. You clear part of the ceiling from your makeshift home and lay around the fire a small ring of stones.
Finally, a moment of peace. You lay back in your hut, nestled close to warm, life giving heat and let your body relax for the first real time since the crash.
But you wake up to a nip of cold at your ears. A dreamless night, for a hopeless day. Your fire reduced to coals, only giving off the barest heat. But the sun crests over the horizon, and with a clear sky it's rays relax you ever so slightly.
What should you do?

>>29701497
Feed the fire for a bit, then go gather food.
>>
>>29701497
FUCK. Forgot about the blanket. Might as well use it to warm up and build up the fire.
>>
>>29701497
Are our clothes still wet? Did the heat from the fire manage to get out our clothes over night?

Do we have any food? If not head to the plane to scavenge what is left. Forage for food on the way. Don't forget to put out the fire before leaving so the tent doesn't accidentky catch fire.
>>
>>29701497
Do we have our wallet? Take a look at the family photo. Let it fill you with DETERMINATION. Or despair. Which ever comes first.

You throw the wood that's left to the fire and check your clothes-- there's still some humidity on them, but you'll have to weather.
Your rations won't last forever... you make the fire burn brighter for a while by blowing air onto it with the blanket and, once the wood's consumed, prepare head out for more food. The warmth should stay with you for a while at least, so long as nothing happens.
You take the photo from your inside pocket before heading out, if only to restore some spirit. The photo, so small in its plastic frame, just like the grinning colt in it.
You are getting back to him. He'll be proud of his momma.
With the photo secured back in its pocket and after making sure the fire is completely dead, you head outside, back into the white.
Several minutes go away as you search for a clearing, some place where there might be grass and flowers under the snow, but ultimately you find one.

>+15 dandelions!

After a while of digging there's cracking on the snow, and you turn to see a deer peeking into the clearing- the opposite direction from you, at least.

Hue hue hue hue hue hue hue hue. I saw what you did there. This is morning so we're going to have a lot more time to do things than yesterday.
I want to sneak up to the deer. So least close enough so they can see us offer the dandelion. Bitches love dandelions!
>>
>>29702068
I wasn't going to play this because this version is so fucked but I know that if you only have shitposts you actually use them for some insane reason.

>>29702361
Not this.

Eat some dandelions and go look for resources or something.
>>

>>29702068
Why not go to the deer anon? They could help us.
>>
>>29702068
>>29702428
Right, I should have gone into a bit more detail as to 'why' we should do that instead of saying we do it.
The deer are sentient beings, and they live out here. This whole freezing region id their home so it's safe too assume they know their way around the place. If we can convince them we're not crazy then they might help us, and that bit of help could increase our chances of survival.
>>
>>29702973
Go ahead and do it then. I retract my vote. I don't care anymore. They really should have just let this die and run something new.
