Scanning the ballroom, Celestia saw no new guests in need of her attention and slipped away from the populated center of the room, hoping for a few moments of relative peace to see to her little problem over by the wall.

It was to her shock, then, that a sudden surprising tickle spurred her leg into a short kick as the speck once more revealed itself, inching along until it reached the groove where her flank met her tail dock. Celestia bit her lower lip and forced her leg to relax. She didn't know if anypony had noticed her brief slip up- A quick look around suggested no, not that any of these ponies wouldn't pretend they hadn't anyway. Celestia felt the speck continue moving and blinked an eye as it touched her tail dock, trying to hold her composure for as long as she could while she thought of another solution. She almost broke into a giggle when she felt it squirm, and instinctively twitched her tail, her pupils becoming like pinpricks when the troublesome speck was swept down to the base of her dock.

Well for in a nutshell the whole 'subtle pop and then a red smear' is nonsense. If you want the basics of what sudden massive weight/pressure does to a much smaller body just find some fresh roadkill of the bird/rodent variety. Sure there's flattening and smearing but it's rarely neat you get a mess of fur/hair gunking everything up intestines will often exit via natural orifices making the spread of gore asymmetrical, plus you know bowel and or stomach contents will often make an exit. Depending on how completely the thing was flattened you'll be able to see bones (broken and whole) deforming skin or pushing through. As for sound expect a lot more in the way of crunching noises. All in all there's no real standard for what a crush death will look like.

To be fair though, that's mainly for stuff like cars, trains, and so-on. Pones of the massive variety likely weigh tons against those specks, so if they were to sit on them it'd likely be a hydraulic press of fat, doughy ass.
What'd be more likely is that everything is flattened -- the body, the bones, the fur, everything, some bits of the body sticking to the floor and some sticking to that small bit of that planetary ass as she eventually lifts off.

A highly yielding surface that's going to be a completely different game when it comes to crushing, I'd expect a lot more of the deformed and broken bones plus innards forced out through orifices.
