When she was introduced there was no explanation for her cutie mark, which is the Crystal Heart, other than the fact that it was heart-shaped and she's the "princess of love". It wasn't until Season 3's premiere and the Crystal Empire that a connection could finally be seen, and even then it was never brought up how her cutie mark actually was the Crystal Heart. It's got the traits of executive meddling—product placement, super specific specialty, and silent, unacknowledged, taken-for-granted changes to the show.

Yeah, Candyass is a walking plothole. She doesn't fucking fit in with the others, she doesn't look she belongs there. She also shits all over the concept of ascension, you're supposed to fucking EARN it, and Candyass has done fuck all, she got to be a princess for free, no training, no preparation, just sudden princess, like your run-of-the-mill shitty OC.
There's very little to justify Cadance's existence, even with quite some mental gymnastics it just doesn't feel right. Nyx from Past Sins is far more canon-friendly than Cadance is. A clone of Nightmare Moon? Yes, it makes sense for it to be an alicorn. But a pink princess out of nowhere and no explanation of how the fuck she's so special? Fuck this shit.
