Twilight pardons Sunset Shimmer's crimes and allows her to return to Equestria. Little does Twilight know, Shimmer has been playing the long game, distracting Twilight with ridiculous magical happenings. Shimmer blasts Twilight and the mane 6, depowering them. twilight reverts to her Unicorn form. The two duel through Canterlot Castle as it is slowly destroyed in their wake. Twilight finally falls, but Starlight Glimmer, invigorated by the power of her new friendships, takes her place. The dual rages on until Shimmer is forced to flee back through the portal. Shimmer acts on the chance, destroys the portal forever severing the two worlds, and cutting all magic from the Equestria Girls universe.

Twilight finds herself unable to ascend again without Celestia's help. Luna takes over as Equestria's one leader. Glimmer becomes Luna's right hand mage, and Twilight returns to her friends in ponyville, just in case the elements of harmony are needed again.
