the only way to really answer that is to look at all the popular ones. i really only ever followed two (horse wife and ask fury belle) so i can't really weigh in on what makes most of them popular but i imagine they're the same things that make *anything* popular.

A lot of them did. The grand majority that didn't die have significantly cut down on updates. You mentioned Flufflepuff, which updated like 10 times last year and twice this year.

Those are the ones I follow. It's like a sit-com sorta thing. It's cool to interact with characters, especially if they're well-written. It's an interesting concept.
