twilight transfers to canterlot, is very nervous about making new friends; the shadowbolts (Sour sweet, Sunny flair and sugar coat) notice twilight looking at images of the mane six on her phone and start teasing her having turned into midnight sparkle it and her being nervous about being friends with people.

The Shadowbolts then give her "Advice" on how to be a friend, which basically boils down to "Everyone is an asshole to everyone and gossips about each other: find someone you can team up with to tear down people with together, and verbally abuse people before they can abuse you".


Moving on, twilight has bonding excercises with the other 6 when she gets invited out to have fun with them, and basically learns about friendship from them via the activities, while the book juxtapositions the Shadowbolts fucking up at friendship at the same time, such as (for example) dash and twilight going wall climbing with dash saying that she utterly trusts Twilight to hold her rope because she's a good friend (and vice versa) for loyalty, while the shadowbolts are off bitching at each other about beings hit at holding each others rope.


Anyways, Then they end up having a sleep over together with Twilight having the idea to invite the shadowbolts too, and things end up going to shit because the shadowbolts are a bunch of assholes who hate fun and think the games that the mane six have planned are shitty kids games.

Things then turn to truth or dare with them apparently having "dare" cards pre-written for the game, and the shadowbolts start pretending that one of the dare cards was to imitate Midnight sparkle to continue bitching at twilight about her having turned into Midnight.


anyways, Twilight somehow gets the shadowbolts to stop being cunts with a friendship speech, there's some book talk about Twilight being like a princess of friendship, and the shadowbolts learn to stop being cunts and become friends with the group.

Nah, the 22 minute format just means its a movie cut into 3 easy Episode sizes. Most probably the Shadowbolts just show up, bully twilight, and then get saved at the end of the third special when magic starts happening for them to be shown how good of a friend twilight is that she'd forgive them and not hold a grudge.
