Here's my dilemma
I love pone, and I can get along with the fandom, but when I indulge in anything MLP related, I feel like a colossal fucking autist. It feels like every person I know and love is just staring at me laughing.

Am I the only one who feels this way? How do I get over it?

When I joined the fandom, I was a bit saddened by how cringy it is, but then I found this place. This board is really the only fandom related thing I do.

I have friends who enjoy it, friends who don't care, and friends who cringe. There's nothing wrong with having some fun with MLP, you just have to make sure you're not stepping on any toes or taking it too far.

But there's a difference between being confident in your geekiness and being oblivious to your social ineptitude. I don't bring ponies up in normal conversation anymore, but when it comes up, I confidently admit to it. And if they hate it, it's whatever and we move on. If not, I'll have some fun with it. Until they dig deeper, and then the real fun begins.

I still wear some pony shirts though, and no one really says anything. They're probably cringing quietly like that dad, but once they get to know me they stop caring. If they're people I don't know and will never see again, I don't really care anyway.

If you're chill and comfortable enough in yourself to own it, people get past it. Some people will always stare and laugh, but who cares what they think? If they're strangers, just shrug it off. If they're colleagues or friends, you can win them over by being yourself.

Don't force pony stuff though. We all know that usually doesn't work.
