This one is flat out wrong. Let's say Chrysalis's power is 200. Let's say Celestia (in theory) can go much higher than 200. Let's say her limit is 1000. If Chrysalis can use 200 power without vaporizing nobles Celestia can use 201 power. Granted, this is an assumption how magic works.

This one is the most basic yet plausible. The only argument I can think against it is that she beat Tirek originally with just raw combat power, although lore just says 'sent him to tartarus' I assume he had to take a beating before going.

I like to think she is more of a pacifist, only going into combat if really needed.
She has the regal intimidation look about her so ponies know she is hot shit but she never really studied combat magic all that much.
Her sister did, so that was all that was really needed for the time, and she trained Twiggs to do the same kind of stuff.

He seemed like he was a fan of the show since S1 and had a lot of ideas to write for its lore. He probably wasn't keen on letting Lauren fulfill her story ideas. They might have been too controversial at the time. I think she wanted to make something progressive like Steven Universe and Starvs Forces of Evil but Mike wanted to start with something more conservative.

Now he is still carefull with messages like "death of Aj parents" and homosxuality in MLP but he also gives a lot more freedom to the writers.
