But there was also Skippy, still going, and a couple people expressing interest in writing new stories. Appropriately, for the number of this thread, one of them was Eris.

Ironically, I missed the bump because I was distracted by trawling the archives.
There's a shit load of stuff with dead pastebins and short stuff that had one or two updates and then never got archived or continued. But I suppose that's the fate of any thread. Thank Kek for desuarchive.

The thread seems so friendly now, but there was some real anger about traps and gayness just a few months ago, and before that, for some reason, somebody was really triggered by lesbians.

It looks like some of the earliest threads by this name tried to merge with sissy/trap for a couple threads, in the halcyon days of not-even-a-year-ago.
(I may not hate traps, but that seemed like a bad decision. Very different fetishes. Good thing they abandoned it after two threads.)

Saw more Anon E. Moos and it made me sad all over again.

Dying from lack of bumps was more common than I thought.

I feel like I may spend this weekend going to the first thread and reading forward to catch the stuff that was never archived. well.

so before I start posting my story. It's by no means finished. I haven't been on /mlp/ in like 2 years and this is my first greentext story on this board. Yeah something you don't want to hear, but what can ya do. so please any feedback/criticism or sugesstions would be great to hear.
Also there's not much fanart on Eris so there won't be as many pictures with every post.

You turn to wave goodbye to Roseluck, when you see Rainbow whip around and close the distance between you alarmingly quickly.

It was her records for Track. You see her slightly stumble over her words once she realizes you've painted her into a corner. You look around and notice the alarmingly large crowd that's gathered to watch what's happening, Roseluck with her head out the classrom door, mouth agape.

You see Rainbow look around trying to find the source of the voice.
>"I DO NOT! Not if you were the last man on earth!"
>"Careful what you wish for, you'll probably have scared all the other ones away eventually."
Dash turns to look at you after you finish your sentence. For a brief second you swear you could almost see...genuine hurt maybe? But just as quickly Dash grits her teeth and let out a frustrated yell, stomping on the ground as she spins on a heel and makes for the nearest exit.

As you come back to your senses, a few people come up to you and thank you for finally putting Dash in her place, but you don't feel like sticking around, and instead head to lunch to unwind a bit after how heated things got.

You head to lunch and meet the usual group there. Rumble, Button, and the others have already heard the gossip about what happened. You just play it down and move on. You don't regret what you did, Dash clearly deserved it, but having an argument like that, especially with so many watching, is the kind of thing that just throws off your mood for a whole day. Lunch now over, as you make your way to your next class, you look out the large windows overlooking the school property, you see what you can only assume is Dash running laps around the track. We all have our ways of killing stress. But if Dash has been out there since she stormed off, she's been at it for at least an hour, and at a pretty impressive pace. No wonder she's a track star. The rest of the day goes by without incident, despite you being uncomfortably in the spotlight in all your classes. Another dreary bus ride home, and you notice Dash isn't in her usual spot at the bus stop. Maybe she went home early, not that you really care all that much. You've got bigger fish to fry, as it were, with plenty of homework and an upcoming project to prepare for in English. You finish said work and prepare for bed, hoping that tomorrow will be a simply normal day, without any alterations or complications.

And that's all I could manage for the night. Motivation is waning but I won't abondon my story. I might go back and rewrite the entire thing because I feel like it can still be heavily improved on. But that'll be later down the road. If someone, *cough skippy, would contribute to the thread, that'd be swell. At least I won't feel so alone writing out my fantasies.

Then you remember you don't even know the topic yet. You ask your teacher on the way out.

My friend actually said something similar, so that's why I'm really considering rewriting it but without the filler junk, I was obliviously trying to make the story longer when I should've been worried about actual relevant info. Revision can often be useful. It teaches you a lot about your own writing.
But I find rewriting something I've already put up can be bad for my motivation. It might be best to just bull forward and aim to be better with the next updates.
I think the Pinkie comments are at least half joking. You could retcon that sort of thing without too much trouble too, a sort of "Soarin, seeing Pinkie swaying away, asks anon again why he's so gay if he's not gonna tap that, anon breaks down and admits that he has sibling-y feels about her, didn't want to say since he thought that sounded gay," thing.

I don't know if there's necessarily a filler problem. It's not like every verb has an adverb, or there are pointless sections. I'd just choose different words in some places. Rereading it, the biggest issue is in Anon's story about the prank, but in that context it makes sense, because he's telling a story to Pinkie, and making it out a bit like a fairy tale.

The advice I repeat often is to write a big chunk ahead of time. About 2500–5000 words maybe, then revise that.
In my opinion, separating writing and revision is overall faster, makes it easier to get over writer's block (since you can mindlessly write shit, knowing you can fix it when editing), and results in better writing.

If you want, you can get help with revision at writefag's guild, when somebody gets around to recreating it (I guess it was killed by... barneyfag posting? The things I miss by sleeping in).


As a different aside, when I was considering a reverse trap Eris, I thought it'd be hilarious if she had remarkable vocal ability, and was able to do a good John de Lancie imitation despite her gender.
An idea based off of that was that one of the girls would recognize that "he" always had vocal fry, and would comment to Anon that they thought Discord was compensating for his small frame by trying to speak with a too deep voice all the time.

You say you'll try, and the rest of lunch period is spent talking to the two of them. They're very nice, lots of interesting stories. Twilight especially, having traveled far abroad for study in some crazy advanced school programs. You also can't help but notice she's pretty damn cute as well. You haven't really thought about dating since you arrived here, you never had much luck in your last school, but you feel like you've been given a fresh start here. So far there's only one definite no, Dash, but you feel your chances aren't bad. Just something to think about in the future.

I usually reread things before posting them, and do some minor revisions as I notice them, but I don't usually worry too much about it beyond spelling and the like. Plot holes as well, I suppose, but I never catch all of those and just let them slide.

Keep in mind that the more you write, and the less time you spend agonizing about previous things you've written, the better you can focus on what you're going to write later on, which is where your attention should be. Don't rush, filler is necessary, but don't put in too much filler. I always find myself eager to get to the good part, but you can't do that or you risk blowing the whole thing. It happens with endings for me, which is something I need to work on, but I'd never notice it if I didn't write.

tl;dr: Write, don't worry so much. Just write.

The Blinding Knife, second novel of the (planed five book) Lightbringer series by Brent Weeks has a tomboy/reverse-trap, Teia (main character mistakes her for a boy but it's cleared up in a scene, with lots of embarrassment on her part).
It's pretty good if you like fantasy. It obviously doesn't focus on Teia enough, but the parts that do are good.
Includes slavery if you're like, the one other anon that also visits /spg/ and is interested in that as a theme.

The project is coming along well, with most of the work done. Now comes the difficult part: rehearsing.
