Lesson Zero is Twilight being written pretty massively out of character just to make a plot happen. For all of the whining about later seasons not being 100% true to the characters, this is probably the biggest offender of OOCness.

The freelancers at Dhx Media, especially Jayson Thiessen, were all aware of the fandom since November 2010. That's why Thiessen managed to edit Derpy's eyes starting with S1 E14.

Furthemore the executive did catch wind of the fanbase and wanted to pander to it immediately, that's why Faust couldn't take it. She had to cope with the fact she wasn't given her adventure show with a main big bad villain and without Luna.
She instead had to work with a slice of life show which originally was 10 minutes long. After that she called it quits when some noname took complete control away from her.

Nobody screencaped their criticism and yelled so much "what a disappointment" when Slice of Life aired.

Or why Snowflake got so much love compared to Nyx who everyone hates or why Dusk's Dawn went completely ignored was the fandom's version of The Room in terms of hilariously bad.

Because how I remember it Luna Eclipsed was loved and praised by everyone, there was a Grinch parody about how everyone at first cheered after the premiere and arrival of Luna.

The critique was focused on the episode rather than Luna. Everyone was more butthurt over Pinkie Pie being annoying and Pipsqueak just breathing the same air as Luna in order to focus and care about Luna. Plus nobody even peeped

I don't think I'd call Lesson Zero OOC for Twilight. It makes some existing character flaws excessively over the top (I'd say "Flanderized" if it weren't so early in the show), but I like the slightly neurotic Twilight it depicts, and it also provides a base for subsequent character development.
