They're in the same bracket but most people consider them separate because they happen at different times, so most people will look specifically at whoever most recently acquired the winter cup as the defender of the winter cup and the person who acquired the summer cup most recently as the defender of the summer cup.

How many people actually play PES here? I find 17 really enjoyable to do so, and you don't get blowouts because of bad ai like pic related. It also shows which teams are worth a shit, /mu/ was still really difficult to beat

Regarding our poor performance, especially the /mu/ game: we realize that it's not a good look to avoid making changes when down late, but this was a conscious decision to stick with the proven tactics we were using rather than unproven tactics (that might end up being worse). There are plenty of games where your strikers git gud at 85 minutes despite playing like garbage for the whole game.

It didn't work out this time, but there are plenty of games even this cup where late changes don't actually help. Nevertheless, we're going to focus on improving our livemanaging plan in Spring.

The first round was null and void, since the group ended at patrician 1-1-1-1. Whatever could have been on super star, nobody knows. So the road was simple, 2 matches to play, try getting more than 3 points.

Match vs /an/ looked kind of solid? I have no idea about the meme preset 3 and how serious that was, but rest seemed to have went according to plan. But holy shit that /mu/ match. From the get go possession was dominated by /mu/, and the siege in >our box was relentless. But, that would not be the first match played on counter, so it was not too unreal. Or it wouldn't have been, if it wasn't for the Wall of Sound. 2 saves on Derpy, 5 on Merzbow. Twilight choked everything she could, and all the opportunities were wasted. It was a much closer match than he scoreline tells, but nevertheless come 75th minute >we are down 2-0 in a "must draw" match.
And then nothing happened. No call for changes, no +1 mentality, no memenpress, no panic. Nothing. The offence was not working, at least not well or fast enough. And with the tempo of the game, scoring 2 in 15 needed something else.
But nobody came.

Pes will in the end always pes, and upsets happen. But to not move a finger when you are being blown back to babbies, that's just wrong. Again, look at how /gd/ adapted in the dying minutes vs /mu/. Look how /vp/ did vs /jp/. When you have nothing to lose and everything to gain, you go full retard. But that requires live management, not precise calibrations.

It also reminds me how we almost got relegated in summer until PMB unretired to help. I think you're right a little practice at reading the game and making changes would help things like that game versus /o/, where we waited too long to adjust and then didn't have much of a backup plan when we did, and the games versus /jp/ and /mu/ this time where we were getting outplayed for a long time without trying to change the game at all.

Now you're being unfair. The managers are still making calls and changes throughout the game, and just because they didn't do panic all sliders to 20 change to win the game doesn't mean they're equivalent to a pastebin.
I see it as a doomed if you do, doomed if you don't thing. If we would've won with changes it would be tactical genius, without changes massive balls for sticking to the original tactics until they pulled through. Lose with changes and it's pointless panic changes and being under prepared, lose without changes and it's pointless livemanaging and too much relying on preparation. I don't think there's a clearly right or wrong way of doing this, and I can't fault the team if they stuck with what performed best in tests.

/mlp/ is in great hands. I helped out last summer because the team needed it. This season, the managers and new testers cranked out more tests for the group stage than we did for the entirety of Summer 2015. I can't claim to have any knowledge of how the inner-workings of most teams function but I'm guessing it comes down to manager/tester dedication and ability to analyze data than actual numbers of people involved. Eventually you should get to a point where further testing brings back diminishing returns and a clear pattern has already emerged.

I do know the "horde of testers" is a meme though and small teams can have impressive runs like /out/ or this year, /jp/.
