No they didn't. Especially after she changed her look to be NMM, when she gift wrapped the CMCs and sent them to Twist's birthday party. Twiggles fear was that ponies would connected the dots, and find out who she was supposed to be. Rarity care of less than a chapter, and CMC just said cool and rolled with it. Celestia was the only one to fear what she could become, but she never feared Nyx, which was her conflict before the end of the night. And she didn't find out by connecting the dots, she was told by the guy controlled by evil plot device tentacles, so the premise of the story (ponies fearing Nyx for being NMM) never happened in PS.
