Larimar sprints around the pool and charges straight at the monster.

At first the zebra doesn't seem to respond, but almost suddenly and seemingly bored, the zombie raises it's spear to block the colt. Larimar realizes this too late into his jump, but has to follow through and hope for the best.

There is a bright green glow and Larimar is shocked to find he not only slices through the zombies flesh, but also the spear as well.

Larimar lands, skidding a few feet before hurriedly turning around. As if frozen in time the zombie is standing there struck dumb, sliced in two with a green gash between it.

Confused, Larimar looks down at the sword. It's glowing a bright green that slowly fades as the colt watches. The colt approaches the corpse, and after poking it a few times he loots what he can from the body.

The spear and the cloak are ruined, but Larimar picks up the decorative circlet.

What does Larimar do?

Larimar examines the head of the spear, and decides to take it too. He doesn't have a free hoof to carry it, but he realizes she can just wear the circlet.

As Larimar dons the circlet voices flood his head telling him this place is sacred and must be protected at all cost.

Larimar picks up the circlet as well as half of the spear with the edge on it. It's a little cumbersome carrying these without a backpack, but he manages.

The colt continues on into the next room. Here he notices something on the wall that he couldn't see before because of the zombie zebra.

It seems to be some sort of plaque with a bunch of weird symbols on it. In the lower right corner one of the symbols is missing, but in the spot there is a hole where something can be pushed in.

Below this is a small plinth holding four symbols. Clearly one of these is supposed to go inside the plaque, but which one?

Larimar also notices that the whole floor of this room is covered in small holes. A trap?

Not wanting to deal with this, Larimar tries the door in a vain hope that it'll open without needing to put anything in, but it doesn't budge. He looks at the puzzle again and tries to figure it out. He really doesn't want to try one of them after the other just in case it springs something. He'll need a good reason to pick a certain tile.

What does Larimar do?

Larimar is not the smartest pony. Larimar only has an intelligence state of two. The puzzle is evil because it could kill Larimar if he guesses wrong. Larimar should move some distance back to get a running dropkick on the door, or use the sword on the door like what he did on the zombie. Larimar should BOOST.

Larimar attempts to break down the door, but it's stone and far too sturdy.

He sighs and turns back to the puzzle. Larimar checks the back of the tiles, but they all have the same half-screw, half-nail like pattern. He then decides to grab at one of the tiles on the wall, but none of them seem to come loose.

Looking at the tiles again he notices that all the squares match ones on the plaque except for one. The triangle with the lines coming off of it has five lines. The one on the wall has four.

Taking his chances, he puts that one in the wall. There is a click, and the door besides him opens. Larimar blows out a heavy relieved sigh and peeks through the door.

It opens up into some sort of pillared great hall. From here he can't see any exits other than the main one at the front of the hall from his position. There are no people here really. Not even the zombie zebras, though he can hear a commotion coming through the main entrance.

What does Larimar do?

Larimar sneaks over to the door with the commotion and begins listening. It sounds like there is a fight going on. He hears the zebra language being thrown around. He decides not to dally too much longer, and heads for the door opposite the one with the commotion.

He puts his ear to the door and listens. He hears whispers but not much else. Oh well, can't be worse than the other door.

Opening the door a crack and peeks in and sees more of the zombie zebras barricaded against an attack, armed to the teeth with spears, swords, and crossbows. However he also notices that there are regular zebras mixed in with the zebras.

Larimar leaves that door behind and decides to go look at the final door in the chamber.

The first thing the colt notices is a big hole in the center of the room. It's covered with iron bars on the top, and it seems some kind of liquid has splashed out of it, as it's wet around the outside of the hole.

There is also a large cauldron in the room, with a cabinet with alchemy tools on top sitting beside it. The cauldron has large chains coming off the side that lead to the ceiling. It seems there is a mechanism to move the cauldron.

What does Larimar do?

Larimar warily peeks down the hole. It's pitch black. He takes a small stone nearby and drops it in.

There is a gurgling, guttural sound and Larimar thinks he hears words, but doesn't understand them. It's hard to tell, but he think he might recognize it as zebra.

Taking a wide berth around the hole, Larimar goes and searches the cabinet and cauldron. The cauldron is empty, but the cabinet contains jugs of some weird alchemy supplies. He kinda wish he knew alchemy, because he may have been able to make something out of this. He can't even read the labels on the jugs because it's in Zebra.

Beside the cabinet is a lever. Larimar looks over to the cauldron and pulls the lever. The cauldron is nosily hoisted into air. It then starts to travel towards the hole, and when it reaches the space above it tips over.

There is a stirring beneath the grate, and after a few moments of incoherent words and animal noises tentacles rise slowly out of the hole.

The tentacles move over the surface of the inside of the cauldron, and finding nothing he slowly slinks back into the hole with a disappointed sound.

What does Larimar do?

If the order doesn't know we are here I am inclined to go back into the tentacle room and then throw something out into the central room in hopes it will draw both parties in and lead to a fight. Maybe climb into the cauldron to hide if it is back away from the grate in case only the order responds to the noise.

With how handily the order wiped out the first group of zebras and zombies they would probably be able to push through the central room to the other barricade and leave their path of destruction for us to follow out if we timed it right.

I'm just thinking of how I would want to be treated if it was someone else, and I wouldn't want someone snooping through my stuff just because they want to know more about me. Even if it would be flattering in a way, being snoopy like that is a very quick way to lose someones trust. I'm pretty sure most people don't like having their privacy invaded, and I doubt Joy's an exception to that.

I also doubt Joy would go nuclear by any means, but it's still not very courteous to just take what you want, without asking. Even if it's something arguably harmless such as info about her past.

Emerald wishes he still had Joyride's keyring. It seems like now would have been a good time to go and explore a bit. He supposes it's for the best thougho, he does still feel a little guilty about looking into Joyride's past memories without her knowledge. The pair decide just to head over to the promenade near the docks.

Emerald is quite surprised by his first view of the promenade. Unlike the surrounding dock areas which were jam packed with boats, crates, and warehouses, this are is much more spaced out.

It's still early morning, but there are still a few people around. Mostly elderly ponies getting some exercise, or ponies running errands between the various stores. Shops line the beautifully paved walkway, most of them are restaurants, but still more are various specialty food shops, places that sells the usual touristy stuff, all emblazoned with quotes like "I <3 Whitherwater." or "I went to Whitherwater and all I bought was this lousy shirt." The air smells like the sea, but it's mixed with the smell of spices and fried food. It makes Emerald's mouth water a bit despite the fact he just had breakfast. Where there aren't stores there are trees and benches set around the promenade for people to relax, and from here there is a nice view of both the ocean as well as the city. There are even a few ponies doing some sort of exercise classes, and others sitting around playing instruments. Emerald can tell in a little bit this place is probably going to be swarming with ponies.

Emerald decides that they should get the reason they came here out of the way, and then they can go and explore the promenade after. The colt approaches one of the elderly walkers and asks if he knows of Haiku Sushi. The older stallion says it's a little ways up the walk, and they approach it.

It doesn't look too much different from the other stores from the outside, but the inside is very nicely decorated. He doesn't know too much about furniture, but much of it appears to have an oriental design to it.

Perhaps hearing the two foals enter, a mare comes from the kitchen and leans over the counter.

"Welcome in, and welcome to Haiku Sushi! First timers? Please, feel free to sit anywhere. We are actually not quite ready for business yet. My apologies." The mare says.

"How'd you know we were first timers?" Ruby asks, pointedly.

"We don't get ponies too often. Sushi is more of a... carnivore or omnivore thing. We do have some vegetarian options though!" She answers happily.

Emerald instantly recognizes the mare from the description that Cherry's skull gave, and approaches the mare.

He says that he'll take a strawberry roll and a firecracker roll. Sushi's eyes squint ever so slightly, and then she says,

"My goodness, such odd choices! How'd you know we even had those rolls without looking at a menu?"

Emerald says that someone told him, and that he has very 'discerning tastes'.

Sushi's cheery look still doesn't quite fade, but she doesn't say anything and instead watches the colt. Emerald says in a low whisper that Cherry Chiffon has been killed, and hands over the skull.

"Jeez!" She exclaims, wildly looking everywhere to make sure no one saw. After stuffing the skull into a nearby take-out bag and hiding it under the table she continues in a whisper, "Do you regularly walk around with people's skulls in your pockets? Who are you anyway?"
