They will reboot the gen when enough time has passed and the current gen doesn't make enough money anymore.

It's not like Hasbro has a giant clock for each ip they have that has a giant REBOOT instead of 12.
They actually try to fucking delay new gens as much as possible since an important part of the toys are the character themselves. Kids love ponies but if they have to chose between a random pony and PRINCESS Twilight Sparkle™ they will chose the Twilight they know. That's why G3.5 exists after G3 didn't sell that well.
And seeing how this gen has characters that are both likable and memorable and they refreshed the toy line with new higher quality molds we are looking to a few extra years at least.

Celestia isn't the star but all the princesses and most of the side characters have gotten their time in the spotlight. Luna has three episodes where she plays an important role. Celestia just has those two times she sang and she giggled at some jokes a few times.

That Apocalypse timeline in the S5 was Twilight herself absorbing everyone into a Friendship bubble ala End of Evangelion

Every timeline was a degeneration of friendship, but each had friends despite the villains. The only counter to that is a false concept of friendship nullifying all friendship everywhere, and Twilight, being the Princess of Friendship, would have been the only one powerful enough to twist it to that conclusion

The dark and windy atmosphere was from the Princesses completely absent from their duties, as even the other timelines had night or day

I think her episodes suffer because she might be difficult to write for. When the episode has her paired up with another pony or just just has a good plot to work with she really shines.
But I also think the best episodes focus on 2 or 3 ponies specifically instead of just having them all there being a peanut gallery.
