She's definitely vain and narcissistic, yes, but she's also hell-bent on standing up for those who can't stand up for themselves and lending a hoof to those most in need. Y'know, element of Loyalty.

She stood up for Fluttershy all those years ago, and stood by her side ever since, barely keeping her from truly becoming a recluse, taking her out as often as possible, and on occasion dragging her out of her shell by force. It wasn't until the mane6 as a whole came along that Fluttershy finally managed to crack out of her own.
So what did Dash do then? Now that Fluttershy has overcome her greatest weakness?
She got a pet. A slow, useless pet. A fucking turtle, whose sole redeeming quality is determination. And she taught the turtle how to fly. To overcome it's flaws and limitations and soar like the birds.
And then?
She took Scootaloo under her wing, a kid she has no interest or direct relation to. A kid with big dreams and hopes that Dash doesn't know if she can ever achieve, but Dash will stand there by her side, egging her on, supporting her, showing her that there are other ways to excel.

Disagree. She started out as the least mature of the Mane 6 (barring Ponka, who's impossible to get a grip on). But we have seen her mature somewhat. Her world may be all about her, but she stands by her friends and looks out for them.

I'd make the comparison to being with the star player of the high school girls basketball team. Her focus is on her sport and her team, and if you're dating her you'll come second to that. And she's a high school girl, so she's not gonna be all that mature. That's kind of where I see Dash's head being.
