The disaster at the Battle of the Bands cost the Dazzlings everything. Soon enough they lost their one valuable thing. Their dignity. The sold their bodies to pay for food and shelter. Adagio made some money by taking off her clothes and posing naked for hungry eyes in art classes. She wore a calm expression, if not stony, but inside she cried.

Aria found a job elsewhere. She took her clothes off and lied down naked as various men took their turns with her. One after another, with others watching them. Their faces were hidden behind masks. She didn't care and she couldn't feel their touch. They took things away from her but they also put things in her.

By the time she could walk again, most of her scars had healed. Others didn't so she got tattoos to cover them. Now Aria is a different person. She sees things others can't see and hears voices others can't hear. A satelite is beaming panoramic images to her electric eyes while Mission Control is giving her intel. She is literally mechanized and officially dead. A ghost who walks and neutralizes enemy agents and terrorists. Another crisis averted. Another war that won't be making headlines.

Different strokes for different folks, but I find the 3D designs very off-putting and disturbing. Which is kinda the opposite of what these types of designs are supposed to do.

Animation-wise, its quality. Probably the only thing I can enjoy about it if it weren't for the creepy lookin' alien babies. I just feel like these designs may have worked better in 2D rather than 3D.

There's nothing wrong with it, I actually think its a neat idea to have what happens next decided by the audience. But I think the author/artist should try to increase the quality of his/her work. Looks half done, and for some reason I feel like he/she is aware of the quality, but doesn't address it.

It just looks "off" because of how stiff and skeletal it looks in the poses. Faces are fine, artist just needs a way to make those poses more lively, loose, something eye catching & fun to look at.

Two questions /dzg/

firstly the other day I saw someone mention that the dazzlings were mentioned once more briefly in another movie, I was curious what was actually said about them.

Secondly, do you think the dazzlings desire negative energy even without the crystals, or were the crystals the only reason they wanted negative energy? Or maybe the crystals just made collection easier?

What do you guys think? trying to decide how a story could work

The girls were briefly shown in cards in their siren form in Dash's song in the gym in the third movie in the franchise. There was also a crystal prep student that bore a resemblance to Adagio but most likely wasn't.

In one of my stories I've taken the approach that the crystals weren't necessary and that they were like the catalysts in Dark Souls. Another idea I have is that when the gems were shattered, fragments were embeded in their chests. Since the gems were attracted to negative energy, the Dazzlings are forced to cause trouble so the fragments will be stop heading towards their hearts.
But it also stands to reason that they could be stirring up trouble out of habit.

Really depends on what gang and people you are looking at, to be honest. In real life, the ways are as varied as the people are, and it can range from tire chains to lead pipes to fists to guns to anything really. The larger you go in the club size, the more dangerous get, to be honest.

And what comes to ideals, that can vary wildly as well. Most of them do feel extreme sense of camaraderie from my personal experience. They often are a brotherhood in true sense of the word, and always look out for their own, and take 'betrayals' very seriously. Authority is the enemy and all that jazz, too. Plus there's a sense of community, and while they might harass the local people, they're also quick to have their back in times of trouble... as long as they are respected. You scratch their back, they'll scratch your back. Still, at the end of the day, they are criminals, and all the lofty things I just said could fly out the window at a moment's notice.

Still, if you're talking about the bikers in MaMwM, then the image presented is definitely a romanticized one. The people Anonymous rode with, El Forastero, are portrayed as the true-blue brotherhood type who mostly got in fist fights and we're the vigilante 'heroes' of their town. Some guns, but mostly physical violence. An old and faded tradition, much like cowboys back in the day... and similarly, they are pretty far from reality at times.

They aren't monolithic, that's for sure. In the land of stars and stripes, many groups choose to get involved in politics. It doesn't seem likely that the gems are just for making collection more efficient. When their gems shattered they even lost the ability to sing well at all.
It's clear that it's the focus/source of their dark magic (a lot like Rarity's book in Inspiration Manifestation, or the Alicorn Amulet in Magic Duel), the way it shines when they sing, and the way the negative energy goes straight to it.
I looked at the movie, at Twilight's description of the Sirens. It seems pretty clear there's a deep linkage between "absorbing negativity and distrust" and their dark magic that influences with their voices. So those go hand in hand to my mind. Even if the gems only enhanced their powers, rather than being the source of it, if they retain one they should retain the other.

On the other hand, looking at other responses gave me an idea:

The idea is that sirens are self-centered to the point that they wouldn't do anything for anyone else even if it meant surviving in the long run through offspring. So Mother Nature has programmed them to get pleasure out of feeding their vulnerable mate so that the pregnant males won't die and the species will live on.

But since there's no shortage of food in modern society and no predators, the Dazzlings' insticts would be obsolete and cause more harm than good.

Most of the good fics on here involve the sirens only being evil because of the situations they found themselves in, not because they're absolute sociopaths with zero remorse towards other living beings.

That constant exposure to negativity could explain a potential skewing towards evil in most sirens and a dullness of positive emotions.

But now that the Dazzlings don't have their powers anymore, they're essentially human. No necklaces means no feeling all the negative emotions around them. So understanding concepts like caring for other people wouldn't be alien to them
