As far as I know, most of the things I hated in season 6 were entirely the writers' fault. It's hard to write a good episode if you don't know anything about the show you're writing for. But someone let them write their shit, someone accepted their scripts, no one tried to fix anything. The story editor did absolutely nothing at all, I honestly doubt Haber used more than 5 minutes to coordinate the scripts, I don't even think he actually read them. Everything would have been much better if he had done his fucking work. But no one made him do it.

With a few honorable mentions, and I appreciate them more than you can imagine, the staff that worked on season 6 were a bunch of morons. On the top of that, we have Jim Miller defending the season, saying that he's proud of his work and dismissing literally any criticism using the lamest excuses. I don't even remotely think that everything wrong was his fault, but if he self entitles himself as the responsible, if he makes us think that with a different person who didn't think that everything was already awesome, with a different person who had made the other retards do their fucking work, everything would have been better, he deserves to be the "convenient person to blame", it's his decision and his decision alone.

Yeah, that's the funny thing. People don't want MLP to go on forever and become stagnant and pointless like Spongebob or The Simpsons, but they don't want it to end either.

Well, the only way you can do that is by changing the status quo so there are new stories to tell; otherwise, you run out.

But every time the writers do that, the fandom shits itself and rages for years at the new element, even as it proves to be successful at generating new stories.

And then when it fails to ruin the show, they fixate on the next season's plot development, convinced that no, this time, REALLY, the show is ruined.

It's not entertaining when those flaws are blown extremely out of proportion and result in shit writing like in every episode she's in in season 6.
She constantly bitches about how her past is horrible and she's a bad person, but the only one who's giving her shit for it is herself, even after she tells other people about it.
And when she fucks up horribly she's either given a light slap on the wrist for it like when she mindraped the entire M5 or is REWARDED for it like when she destroyed the entire fucking planet.
Not to mention that despite all of her forced """flaws""" she is somehow more powerful in magic than Twilight even though she's not only an alicorn, but was the most magically gifted unicorn in Equestria beforehand.

Starlight is a shitty mary sue and shouldn't have even been in the S5 finale much less a main character in S6

And it would be great if done right. The problem with this is, the show has a severely flawed character, but instead of working consistently with that idea, it treats her as if she was perfect. ELTSD is a perfect example, you have her doing something that the show itself had already established as terrible, and she doesn't even realize she has done something wrong. That could be an interesting story, and it's certainly original. But instead of doing anything with it, the other ponies forgive her and even clean her mess straight away.
She's a flawed character, but she's treated as if she was perfect, and that's what makes the whole thing look really bad.
