It would be nice to have a fancy dinner with Rarity, but unless you can really charm her, she'd probably be a pain. You'd have to turn your charm up to maximum levels to keep her entertained for a while. You'd also have to eat proper, and be completely 100% elegant - it's just too much work in my opinion. For Applejack you kinda just sit down with the family and have a chat about the day, a nice family cooked meal, and enjoy each others company.

I'd pick the latter, though I'm open to interpretation.
