Not reading any of what you wrote because OCs are actually accepted in this board, there's even threads about them. The only thing people don't like is when they get shoved in thread discussions nothing to do with them.

Because the board isn't a hivemind, and when you pretend that is a hivemind to try and understand it, you understandably become confused. Yes, some people don't like OC's that are alicorns. Some do. That's why we have Erroria threads. Some people like OC's that are grimdark, some people don't. That's why we have FoE threads. Some people like OC's that are mary sues, and that's why we have Glimmer threads. Some people hate OC's in general, and they can't be helped and I assume they go into threads about canon ponies.

And yes, there are OC's that the board does hate as a whole, but that doesn't mean we hate original characters as a whole. It means we hate that particular character.

But throwing a blanket over the term 'original character' and claiming that the board as a whole hates every single one is ridiculous and baseless. It's like going onto /co/ and asking 'why does everyone here hate Batman?'

OCs are shit, because they invariably are designed to be hyper unique snowflakes or shitty self-inserts to fill some power/romance fantasy. Reads like you wrote in some shitty 1 dimensional original into your story and people called you out on it. And if you're so superior in your practice of ocs and understand their use or whatever then why do you care that people keep telling you or others to stop?
Good rule of thumb before making an oc for a story is: Can whatever that character is offering be done just as well or better by a canon character? And if it can, then just use the canon character instead.

No, that's not what I'm saying at all. I feel you've missed the point. I'm saying that the board doesn't actually hate original characters as a whole and that there's no one reason that people hate OC's. Most reasons are subjective taste.
And yes, there are people here that hate all OC's, and you're allowed to hate those people, but pretending that they represent everyone on the board is a shitty thing to do.
If you wanted to be against people that hate all OC's, why not make a thread that addresses that 'problem' specifically, instead of painting the entire board in one stroke?
