Last time, the Elaine and Jack investigated the helicopter crash site again. Everything seemed the same as before except for two new pieces of information. Elaine was suddenly able to see blood all over the place. The blood leads back inside to the facility the party was originally holding up in.

However, everyone else was able to see some scrape marks as if something heavy was dragged, leading the opposite direction. The scrape marks lead into an alley. With the sun starting to go down, the alley is dark, and you can't see where the scrapes lead.

After some deliberation, the party decides to follow the scrape marks. The four of you venture into the dark alley. With the buildings obscuring the setting sun, it becomes shockingly hard to see what is in front of you.

"I just want to point something ou-" Proto begins to say before he bumps into a wall. "Ow... What the? How did this get here?"

"This shouldn't be the organization of these buildings...?" Trigger mutters as he touches the wall, looking up it. His face goes pale as he notices the sky. It is pitch black. "What the heck is going on?"

Elaine, however, views this scene quite differently. From her point of view, she is now standing in the lot on the other end of the alley. When she turns around, she sees that Jack, Trigger, and Proto are standing at the end of the alley, talking about a wall that doesn't seem to exist.

From Jack's point of view, Elaine has disappeared.

Meanwhile, Blue Screen managed to wade through a series of bizarre events to get Curie to safety. A medical team takes Curie from Spike's arms and brings her into a tent. The two of you follow them into the tent.

"She's lucky you got her here when you did," the female griffon in ARC armor observes from the entrance to the tent. "We could use more of that luck right now," she mutters, looking down to the ground.

"My name is Jane," she suddenly says in a brighter tone, looking back up to the two of you. "My brother Calamity and I are the heads of security on the ARC," she extends her claw for shaking. "Good to meet you. And, sorry for the mess."
>>
>>29474113
Jack follows the trail of scrape marks diligently until it becomes increasingly dark, stopping short of the wall as his hoof feels out and grabs it before he runs into it, "You're saying this shouldn't be here...?"

Jack presses up against the wall, looking around blind as a bat as the sky begins to go dark and presing up against the wall. "Hey, wait a second... Elaine? ELAINE! Luna damn it, where did she go?" ELAINE CAN YOU HEAR ME?!" He pounds on the wall, looking for weaknesses.

"Whatever's happening to the sky isn't good but we have enough problems to worry about. You said this shouldn't be here, so it must be another illusion. Try to break through it, feel around for something out of place. A latch, a crack, check the bottom." With that, Jack pulls out his flashlight from his belt, and begins searching the wall for inconsistencies so to break the illusion.
[1d10+1] Perception
>>
>>29474119
"I'm Blue Screen, glorified prisoner. Mess isn't yours to apologies for, you've just got clean-up duty."

Blue gives a tired smile, shaking her claw,

"Considering we're expendable and I made friends with the computer database here, I think we're heading over to deal with 814 now."

She muses,

"I never thought I was vane, but here I am going looking for a mirror."
>>
>>29474119

Xavier shakes her claw.

"Nice to meet you.", Xavier sighs out, realizing he has just now calmed down from the chaos outside.

"Sorry about that, the real mess is out there and it's a little much for a first day at ARC. But now that we are here, how can we help? And your brother? Is he on site to assist in this as well?"

He says, a twinge still scared.
>>
>>29474173
"I'm on the other side, I think you're stuck in an illusion." Elaine calls back, though Jack doesn't hear anything.

Elaine meanwhile steps forward a bit, looking around the lot for anything interesting.

[1d10] Perception
>>
>>29474173

When you pull out your flashlight and look around the door, you see that there is a long handle going along the entire bottom of the wall. In fact, upon further inspection, the entire wall looks like a large garage door.

Proto looks up and down the wall again, then says, "Come on," without missing a beat. He takes off his electric gauntlets for the first time since the party met AO-666. He bends over and grabs the handle. "I don't know where we are, but we have to keep moving. Help me lift this."

Trigger grabs the handle as well.

>>29474238

It's just an empty lot. You DO, however, take notice that the usual background noise of the chaos going on seems to have settled down a bit. Or, it's at least gotten farther away.

"Do you like the taste of blood?" suddenly comes out of your own mouth.

**********************

>>29474209

"Calamity is out on the field taking care of business," Jane answers. "Tch," she adds afterwards. "Never thought the Arc would BE the field... This sucks."

>>29474185

"Wait," she says, shaking her head. "You got 404 to cooperate? That damn glorified virus is obnoxious to everyone. I don't know what you did, but good on you."

"You shouldn't go out alone, though. We're getting a handle on the situation, but there's no telling how much worse things will get till we get that mirror off this facility."

"I'll go with them," Spike speaks up. "Twi- The Head Director left this job to me anyway."

Jane nods her head solemnly. "Take this," Jane says. She hands a flare gun to Blue Screen. "If anything happens, shoot it up. Someone'll come to help. It'd be a shame if that pretty face got scarred up from this."
>>
>>29474308
"Is that the objective now? Simply remove the Liar's Glass? Isn't that almost the opposite of ARC's purpose?"

He contemplates for a moment.

"Well, you are the security master, and this is an issue of security. I imagine we should be headed for Calamity"

He says, realizing that that's probably not the only Calamity we're going to find.
>>
>>29474308
"Elaine! Elaine, if you're out there, I can't hear you. If you can hear me... I don't know, fire your gun up in the air or something, give me a visual!"

Jack turns down to look at the long handle at the bottom, "Oh good, a handle. Now just to hope this isn't all a trap." He leans down and grabs it it, looking over at the electric gauntlets curiously before taking hold in a hoof, "Okay, on three. One, two..."

[1d10] "Three"
>>
>>29474308
"And now compliments, guess the mirror is making everyone crazy after all."

Her grin widens, feeling a bit more confident. She takes the flare gun.

"Knowing myself, this will probably end up being fired at something rather then into the sky. But it'll be useful either way."

she looks around at the chaos,

"Hey, and even though it's your job, take care of yourself too."

>>29474372
"I mean with my plan, I think we do something a little more ARC-y, sans the "don't actually practically use the artifacts" rule. 404 worked for me and I'm getting the hang of the knife; This is just my old Tech Support job with a scifi-horror twist."
>>
>>29474308
Elaine ignores the Beast.
>>29474380
Elaine pulls out her ray-gun and fires it into the air as per Jack's request. She scratches her neck a bit near where the Regulator is plugged in.
>>
>>29474400
"I still don't trust these objects, Miss Screen. Everything, living or dead, flesh or matter, has ambitions. Some more chaotic and destructive than others" He says gesturing outside.

"But I suppose it has been working to utilize what we can to try and quell the situation. But be careful."
>>
>>29474372

"We have many containment facilities around the world," Jane explains. "Many AOs are too dangerous to keep near each other. 814 is obviously one example. So, top priority is getting it away. We can handle containment next."

>>29474400

"I'd object to the fact that you're carrying around an AO..." Jane says, her voice half-hearted. "But..." she glances toward Spike and sighs. "Just be careful."

You both start heading back the way you came. Sadly, this involves head back through the parking lot full of spontaneously flying cars. When you get closer, you notice that you don't hear any explosions.

"Do we go back the way we came or try to look for a safer way?" Spike asks. "Safer could take longer. Which could just lead to more danger."

********************************

>>29474380

The door lifts with shocking ease. In fact, the entire wall lifts up.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Xht41sk-gBI

On the other side of the wall, you see a large forest. All the trees are tall and devoid of leaves. The large jagged limbs all point down as if reaching out to you. Through the canopy of naked sticks, you can see the moon hanging low and large in the sky, an unnatural crescent shape that also seems to bend toward you.

A trail winds before you. It seems to lead up a distant hill. You can just barely make out a pony walking along the path, up the hill.

"Who's that?" Proto asks, pointing to the pony.

"Better question," Trigger mutters as he looks around. "Where is this?"

>>29474421

Jack and the others don't see or hear your shot. They don't react at all.

Proto points his still naked hoof. As he does, you notice that his hooves are caked in old, dried blood. In fact, judging by the dried stream, it looks like the blood came from under his armor suit.

"It looks so good," your own mouth says. "If only I could lick our lips."
>>
>>29474486
With no response coming from Elaine, Jack gives a low growl. "Damn. The mirror's got us totally cut off. Got to be some way of getting in contact with her..."

As the wall goes all the way up, Jack blinks his eyes a few times at the large, dead forest ahead of them. Staring up high at what may well not be Luna's moon he steps through the gate, staring up at the pony beyond at the hill.

"Wherever it is, we're still on the ARC. That damn mirror might be able to fool us in to what we're seeing but it can't actually teleport us somewhere we're not. If we keep moving forward, we'll find something. That might even be Elaine. Come on," Jack says as he races towards the pony on the hill, looking around for any more clues that the forest can give of disturbance / something out of place.
[1d10+1]

"Trigger, Proto, what should be on the other side of this alleyway? You know these facilities?"
>>
>>29474486
"Is either way really safe? Besides, I have an idea."

She looks around,

"Which by now you know may not be entirely safe."

Blue Screen takes the knife and looks to the wrecks of cars, and thinks of "Path Forward" as she slices ahead of her.

"I cut a lock open earlier. How about Cutting a Path Forward?"
>>
>>29474486
"I say we press on, take the devil we know versus the devil we don't."

He says, without looking back from the path onward.

"And besides, I don't think there is a safe way anywhere here."

"Wait a second. The blood..."

"Jack is a donkey, if anyone should be resistant to the mirror its him. Yet I was the only one who saw the keys. And now they're trapped in an illusion, and I'm not...." Elaine starts pacing.

"You're immunized to the mirror...and you're seeing through my sensory organs, filtering it through my neurology, meaning..."

"This is real! My sensory information is reliable! I can act! I can do Science!" Elaine exclaims overjoyed, drawing her ray-gun, clicking her heels to send her rocketing into the sky back towards the bloody trail and into the building.
>>
>>29474596

"I admire the creativity," Spike responds. "But, you generally need to actually cut something specific to take something aspecific out of it. If you just use it like that, you're just cut a path forward out of the air. And, that's... probably not safe."

As you make your attempt with a knife, you hear a small popping sound, as if there was momentarily not air around the knife, but then the pocket was refilled.

The second you step a hoof onto the parking lot, cars once again begin to fly up in random directions.

Both of you roll one roll to see how far you run, and one roll to not get hit.

"It should have just been another facility," Trigger says. "I think it was for a pencil or something. Doesn't matter. Definitely not anything related to this," Trigger says as he runs along-side you.

As you follow the oddly winding path to the foot of the hill, the pony goes out of sight over the top of it. Now that you are here at the foot of the hill, you now realize how steep it is. In fact, with your keen sense of observation, you notice that the ground seems to go from being perfectly flat to a sudden and perfect 45 degree angle upward where the hill starts.

"That's an interesting hill..." Proto mutters.

"'I can do science,'" 666 snorts with your mouth. "I'm sorry. I shouldn't make fun of you in a time like this. That line just got to me, though."

You quickly fly back to the original facility. You now stand at the doorway which the blood footprints lead into. Inside, is the same familiar entry lobby from before. However, everything is dark now. The only lighting comes from the dim floodlights where the walls meet the floor.

You hear a sound that is a combination of skittering and sloshing. You can't tell where it's coming from in the darkness.

Elaine slows her breathing as she stares into the darkness. Her grip on her ray-gun tightens. She tries to maintain calm, despite her newfound exultation of escaping the mirror.

The Scientist steps cautiously through the darkness, further inside.
>>
>>29474742
Staring up at the oddly perfect slope of the hill, Jack grunts under his breath as he eyes it curiously. "Yeah, odd the mirror would make it like this, but it's not really much of a trail. This damn mirror is probably trying to lead us right off the edge of the ARC the way it keeps string us along. And now that Elaine's gone I can't even ask her to point out that blood trail she could see earlier and see if that bares any fruit."

Looking up at the pony, he snorts. "No way to go but forward. We look over this hill and if it's nothing but a dead end, we turn back and get the hell out of here before we get lost." Jack says, continuing his way up the steep hill, using his knife as a hold if need be.

"Good to know. Then in that case we'll go with magic, then."

She focuses her magic through her ornate watch, trying to slow the descent of the cars to action-movie slow-mo speed.

In the heat of the moment, you fail the spell.

But, you fly quickly into the air to dodge the Dodge flying at you.

>>29474800

All the expert dodging you do makes it so that you don't actually get very far. But, at least nothing hits you.

[1d10] for Spike

*********************************

>>29474805

The blood path leads down a narrow hallway. At the end of the hallway, you see some blinking lights. The lights just barely illuminate a door enough for you to make out a large lock on it. The lights seem to be a part of the lock mechanism.

Now that you are in the middle of it all, you can tell that the sloshing and skittering are coming from two different directions. The sloshing sound is coming from the direction of the control room you were held up in before. The skittering seems to be coming from the hallway you are now facing.

**********************

>>29474813

You make it up the hill shockingly quickly. Like, oddly quickly. It's as if space is warped with each step, leading you to making it up to the top of the hill in exactly 15 steps.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WBXZWtTeGoI

At the top of the hill, there is a mare, now facing you. She wears a lab coat. Her dark green mane falls to either side of her orange face. The length and straightness of her mane gives a sad of weighted, sad look to her. Her face is wet - as if she was crying at some point, but not for a while now. She just never bothered to wipe away the tears.

She stares at Proto and Trigger. "Rosemary," Trigger whimpers, a catch in his throat stopping him from saying more. He slowly walks toward the pony. He extends his hoof.

Suddenly, there is a loud snapping sound accompanied by a bright flash of light. You are now standing in a room, alone. There is no sign of Proto and Trigger.
>>
(part 2/2, forgot to say part 1/2)

The room simply consists of two chairs facing each other. There are bits of paper on the walls as if someone had hung something on them at some point. But, they are gone now. There are no windows. There is one closed door.

The only source of light comes from the flood-lights near the floor around the room. It gives everything a sort of black and white glow.
>>
>>29474993
"Alright Spike. Tell you what: You're the technical son of royalty. You're getting the escort treatment."

She says as she watches him struggling, deciding to fly over him and face the knife above her as she tries to make sure any car falling splits in two away from her, even trying to cut air off to the side to cause the cars to fly off course to fill in the void in space.

General effectiveness [1d10]
>>
>>29474993
Jack gives an odd glance back towards the bottom of the hill, pondering the illusion's choice in making it so easy to make it to the top as he turns around and faces the mare. "Ma'am?" He asks her, noting the sorrow in her eyes and and the wetness of her cheeks. "Ma'am, I have no idea if you're real or not, but tell me who you are and I'll figure out the rest from there."

"Rosemary-?" Jack asks as Trigger reaches out, giving a curt swear as he reaches and the bright flash emerges, "NO! Trigger.... damnit!"

As the light clears, Jack looks around at the two chairs, the various papers on the wall and the door. He gives a look around for any sign of the mare or the guards, tapping his hoof as he laments his situation. "Great... just great." He sighs, looking towards the door as he gives a snort.

"No, that'd be too obvious." He says to himself as he looks to the papers on the wall, moving forward to look under them, lifting them up to investigate the room.

He pauses just short of her, reaching for one of the two chairs in the room with his hoof and dragging it over closer to her. "I have no idea in Equestria whether to think you're real or not. We're already dealing with at least three rogue AO, I wouldn't be surprised if I just got thrust onto another one. "There are a lot of security measures in place," Spike says defensively. "But, they don't really matter when ponies are hallucinating and deactivating them. Sure, the agents and guards and buildings can handle an AO or two. But, there's only so much defense you can have."

"Plus," he adds, looking back toward the tower. "I'm sure Twilight's devoting a lot of our resources to keeping AO-1 on lockdown..."

"Well, we saw a security team here handling AO-420 earlier. So, this area SHOULD be pretty safe..." Spike says hopefully.

The 3 of you continue to make the trek back to where you started. The walk is long, but after a while, you come back to the familiar sight of the crashed helicopter.

"As if we're gonna keep dealing with AOs one at a time. Imagine the synergies of two working in tandem. Ugh, remind me not to play team Magic the Friendshipping again, Free for all Commander is the only way."

As the pepper-spray does its job, preventing the odd, wailing mare from screaming out any further, Jack looks on at the strange globs coming out of her throat and piling onto the floor.

He leans down next to her, looking at it disintegrating into sand as he looks around the trembling room. "Hmm. Seems it didn't like that..."

He looks on at Rosemary, coming out of the shadows to reach around her, pulling her eyes up to face him so he can investigate whether she is still possessed or if there is still more of the foreign substance to expunge

Elaine continues ignoring the Beast, and leaves the room back to the hallway.

She heads to the control room, keeping her gun ready for anything weird [and sloshy].

"Right, it's difficult to contain an AO on such a high intelligence level. Speaking of difficult to contain AOs I am not entirely sure if I want to know what AO-1 is but lets just hope it stays in place."

She moans at you angrily as blood-sand drools from her mouths. She tackles you with startling strength.

You head to the control room. The door is open, and you can see vaguely inside. With the lights on the floor, you can't really see the ceiling. But, you can some sort of goo hanging from it, like a wad of spit. At the end of the dangling wad is the shape of a head of a pony.

It faces away from you. You naturally attempt to look at whatever it is looking at, and realize it's the mirror you're looking for! The dangling goo doesn't seem to notice you.

"Ze knife was here..." it mumbles to itself.

"Right, well if you're going to be a shit about this, then so am I," The Beast says angrily in your body.

"I have the knife," he says in your own voice.

With a sloppy wet sound, the goo head twists around with a crazed/malicious look in his eye. "YOU VILL GIVE IT TO ME!" he screams at you. As he screams, something similar to a guttural roar assaults your ears from the ceiling.

After screaming at you, the head retreats into the ceiling slowly. As it does, there is a flurry of movement above you. For a moment, you swear you see what looks like the bottom half of a jaw roughly the size of you, complete with rows of jagged teeth.

From outside, you can hear the scream and subsequent roar.
