There's other factors to consider, like who's going to distribute the film. Does anybody know that yet?

Disney & Dreamworks make enormous shitloads of money on children's films because they can advertise the piss out of them and get them into tens of thousands of theaters...then use their leverage to keep them in those theaters for weeks.

Hasbro doesn't have that kind of industry leverage. They're not an entertainment company; they're a toy company dabbling in media. If this film is going to make money they need a strong marketing partner to distribute it.

You know you can't just say those quotes if you haven't fully digested them. If you're gaining a lot of publicity for having a bad product that tarnishes your brand, then you'd be better off staying quiet about it. But then in this case I think you're right. I expect the movie will be fine for the kids but a bit of a snooze for adults, which is not super exciting for me or a lot of people on this board but may be exactly what people expect from Hasbro as a brand.

Which is unfortunate. Only a few years ago Hasbro seemed like it was on fire with the explosive revival of both Transformers and MLP. It's only coasting down from those highs now.

Here's what I predict: I think the movie is going to be bland. It'll provoke disappointment from some bronies, and they'll give up on MLP, and long term that's it. That's all that's going to happen here. A year after the movie comes out, people who hated the movie will be gone and people will be posting here about how great the movie was, just like they did with Equestria Girls after the people who hated that left the board and quit watching MLP.

People who designed characters like pic related will likely defend the movie and even feel vindicated, but they're in kind of a cringey minority. At some point, if the show is followed by people like this in the majority, most bronies will leave because they don't actually want to be associated with it and it'll be a dominant part of the fandom.
