Are you new to hiatus or something?
When the season starts, things will get show-focused again, at least for the date it airs/leaks and maybe a couple days after. Then its back to the usual.

Its literally how things work around here.
In all honesty though, I found myself caring far less about show discussion than usual with how lackluster S6 was in general, and I'm not optimistic about S7 either.

Here's a thought.

Since Equestria doesn't have telephones or radio yet it would be safe to say that outside of instant messaging magic in the form of magic books (a la Rainbow Rocks), dragonfire mail is the fastest form of communication. Does dragonfire mail work for all dragons, or is Spike specifically charmed in some way? Can he send letters from anywhere? Can they get passed any magic barrier? For example, if he went with the Mane 6 to Starlight's village the first time, could he have sent a letter requesting help to Princess Celestia from that far away? Could he have sent a letter through amulet-crazed Trixie's magic barrier? If he was in the Changeling Kingdom before the throne was destroyed, would his dragonfire have been interrupted or negated in any way? Can he send letters to anypony, or is it specifically set up for Princess Celestia to receive them?

I'd say it's probably unique to Spike, we haven't seen any other dragon do it. Mind you, he's also not grown an inch in 6 years and actually reversed his aging process at one point. Dragons in MLP are weird. But in any case, it's deffo tied to Celestia and Celestia only, which makes me think it's a high-level enchantment she placed on him, which in theory means Twiggles could learn it and cast it on people too. We don't know that it HAS to be dragonfire, maybe a regular pony could do it by farting on it or something.

I think it's about the polarization this season caused. Season 5 was mostly seen in a good light, but this season was highly controversial, and while different opinions can be good for discussion, extremely opposite opinions kill it.

From what I've seen, people who liked this season feel any kind of criticism as an attack. I guess that the reason is, there are a number of fans of the fandom who never liked the show, they want to kill anything here related to it, so it's a natural response to fight back those people. Unfortunately, this season caused so much complaints that the border between those people and honest fans who didn't like the season became too fuzzy, and that means that any legitimate criticism is treated as a trolling attempt, you literally can't say "I think this should have been done differently" without getting "if you don't like the show, get out" as a reply. Likewise, there's a point where people who have honest complaints about the show just stop caring. If you hate something and trying to explain why you hate it causes the exact same reply as saying "it's shit", people will just say "it's shit", because it's quite easier to type.

There can't be any kind of discussion if both parts just ignore each other.
