Yellow eyes would at time be edgy with a dark coat, and similarly a yellow mane with a dark coat. Yellow and darks typically come off as edgy. Not always though, sometimes it can provide a needed "pop".

I want to make a lengthy post explaining why the definition of a good OC has changed since /mlp/'s conception due to the show naturally progressing. But, it's almost 5am and my brain is barely functioning as is, so excuse me if i'm a little confusing.
Okay. When I say "a good OC" I mean an OC that can easily be placed into the background of the show and meld right in, or at most be a minor character and stand out A BIT. This has ALWAYS been the definition of a good OC, ever since the Mostly OK OC Threads and even before then. During the first few seasons of the show, the background ponies were all pastel, simply colored, and simply designed. The only ponies that really stood out, as they should, were the mane 6 and other major characters. They are not bound by the same rules as the other background ponies, and they shouldn't be considering they are the "mane" characters of the show.
Ever since around season 4, things have changed. The background ponies in Manehattan have more grey and browns in their color scheme. In Appleloosa or any other western areas the background ponies have more orange, reds, and other warm colors. The look of background characters and minor characters has changed with the times. The guidelines initially set in place have been torn down and reconstructed to allow the DHX team more freedom with the look of the show, and this can be a good thing or a bad thing. Depends on how you personally feel.
Making an OC that looks fine in 2017 is not as hard as making one in 2011-14, since the designs for these characters when originally made by DHX are becoming more and more unorthodox. Saying this, there are only a few really bad moves you can make when designing an OC nowadays: Mega-saturated colors, #000000 black and anything close to it, or colors that don't match.
By the way, color is the most important part when designing an OC. Design and other shit is a whole different post that i'll only make if it's really desired.

The colors aren't well matched. If you are going to use grey you CANNOT use white. It's combining two colors that have no hue at all, remember that this is still a My Little Pony. If you are going to use a neutral color like any shade of black or white, it must be ONE thing. Look at Rarity, the Pie sisters, any pony in the show that has grey or white on them. They all only dedicate the neutral color to either the mane, coat, or eyes. So, what you would have to do to make this a good looking OC that would be OK in the show would be to replace either the white or grey with something that matches the rest.
All in all, 4/10.

Welp, I forgot to talk about the Cutie Mark. It used to be a phoenix the original design, it represents my desire to visit countries and learn about its culture (you know, birds emigrate), and also my passion for drawing (feathers -> pen). The problem is that it didn't fit quite well in the body and I had to redisign it a bit. I'm a bit dissapointed because I loved the original design. Probably someday I will try to make it fit again in the body.
