If i remember right Equestria Divided is more a concept than an actual PnP RPG.

Mine is finished but needs that damn translation, and i am the only one who is translating everything so far, except for a friend who helped me for one single compendium.

I have to translate:

Core Rulebook (376 pages)
Bestiary (176 pages)
Adventure Compenium (45 pages)

And check the grammar for the Allies and Adversaries (67 pages)

Also it needs drawings! lucky me that i can also draw more or less (for example the Armored Diamond Dog from above is mine) but MAN it's a lot of stuff to do all by myself and other artist aren't really interested "so far".

The only thing that many could not like, especially here, is that i used Anthro Ponies for everything, since it make more sense for many things, like using weapons and stuff, BUT i've also made the Pony Edition Ruleset (10 pages) so if anyone else want to play as an actually pony, he can do that.

Welp, i'm half-way to finish the Reduced Ruleset (almost no lore, few drawings, less stuff) but at least with that the game can be played more or less. Also i'll upload the rules online (actually the rules are already online but not translated) and then i'll show that to the guys of EQD, so maybe the thing will get a little more attention and maybe other people will help me.

Actually the normal ponies arent really an "aside".

The Pony Edition it's 10 pages because there are just few changes to consider then all the rest of the Core Rules will apply as usual, since all of the other stuff is about the character customization, the equipment, spells, and stuff like that.

It's like when you like a Car and you simply change the color and some stuff inside, but the engine is still the same and almost 95% of it

I always try to set certain goals in my everyday life and keep a positive attitude. Whether it's working out during summer or making horse art. I need to convince myself that whatever I do is fun. And also don't set the goals too high. That way I try to introduce a fun routine to my life without any stress if I don't deliver.

I've always found that tackling anything quality of life (so it doesn't apply to school/work stuff on tight deadline) is mostly about taking it easy and making some trade off with yourself.
Instead of setting myself to lose 20 pounds in a month, convince myself to work out or just do some intense physical activity daily. Reward yourself with a protein drink if you're going /fit/ or a good meal. Establish the routine first, and then add onto it if it goes well.
To fix a fucked up sleep cycle, reward yourself for waking up at 8 AM instead of noon. Go buy fresh bread for breakfast. Drink a glass of juice you normally wouldn't. And so on. It's all about finding the right motivation to convince yourself that you want to do something, not that you have to.
Your mileage may vary, but this is basically how I live my life the last few years. It's not strict, so it's not always healthier, but every day is definitely brighter.

At first they where just simple npcs, since i had like 0 official material, but then Lost Treasure of Griffonstone and ka-BLAM! Playable Race.

The only race isn't avayable lore-wise are the Crystal ponies, since the rpg is played 200 years after the banishment of Nightmare Moon (the general Lore of the Anthro Version is more different, while trying to use everything that came from the show)

Pony version can use whatever lore you like, so i'll probably also add rules for Crystal ponies and MAYBE hippogriffs, so Silverquill and Equestria Prevails would be happy

Tried my best to fit the effects and visuals to the music while also trying to present the idea the song is getting across.

Not sure, I don't know if I am happy with it or not, I made a lot of these PMVs, I have another ones in the works, I just want to create something and I am not sure if this is the best I can do, next PMV may be different, or not, I dunno.

Worked a pretty long time on this one and I can't saiy the work paid off in the end, at least to me personally, I always loved making PMVs but recently I felt very out of motivation, as if I hit burn out. Probably because few months ago I released PMV that had 54 minutes, that possibly could be it.


I also had plans to release some fan fictions, writting one right now, will release on fimfiction under a different name, maybe, if I will bother to release it, I dunno, I am just desperate to do something.

When it comes to PMVs, my head's full of ideas and recently a lot of projects gotten thrown out of the way since I got another idea which seems better, my PMVs are taking more and more time to make, since I try my best, that is what causes thesm sometimes not to be completed at all, it isn't making me too happy.

I make this stuff just to express myself, so I sometimes feel like I have to do something or I feel empty, or something like that. I dunno, when I don't finish anything or create anything I feel this very unpleasant feeling. I don't know why, It's autistic as hell from me.

Right now I got two projects going on, one of them is the typical dark edgy stuff, the other is Andrew W.K PMV which would be very different from what I've been doing recently.

I wouldn't stress yourself too much on creating a PMV that's absolutely perfect, especially if it's causing actual stress. Maybe start out with a rough draft and go from there? At least that way you'd have something semi-completed.

A lot of people also don't really notice the minor touches and refinements anyway, I don't really see why you'd focus too much on trying to take it to a standard that's difficult to achieve. If you're not enjoying yourself then stop dude, or maybe even take a break for a bit

It's Everfree Outpost, you might have seen it already. You run around in the forest as a pony, chat with other players, and build your own house (or an entire town). There's also a bit of exploration involved, since some rare items can't be crafted and can only be found as random loot.

The reason I suggest splitting push_player into two functions if you can is that with the current setup, the compiler can't catch as many mistakes for you. Here are two examples:

There are lots of reason, but it comes down to lack of experience. I've been part of several failed projects, and been on the lead of a couple, but managing and directing is a tough skill. You need absolute clarity when you speak. When someone's unsure, you fill the gaps, when someone challenges you, you listen. Too many people go in either one direction or the other. The other people working have no idea what to do, and the leader's all "lol, you guys can figure it out" or someone's pointing out alternative paths and solutions to problems, and the guy heading the thing shuts them down, because he thinks he knows it all. To be able to do that, you need to have some understanding of all the moving parts, and know where your place is. You don't need to know coding, but you should have a good understanding of the limitations that your coder's working around with the engine/language they're working in. You don't need to be a top tier writer, but you do need to know how a story comes together. There are tons of reasons why collabs and projects fail, and these are some of them. Also, ambition relative to skill. People tackle huge projects, and don't realize how much effort they require.

There are a million other reasons that a project could fail, and I could on about this for hours, but I have practicing to do. Besides, no one ever listens when I talk about this stuff.

Because it would be hell to make the game with one character and try to add more. The current mock-up I have written down uses a system that basically does a check with most every action and choice the player does, and a) tailors your game with a semi-random assortment of possible scenarios, and b) determines how characters react to you.

It's intended to classify your actions to gauge your passiveness (or lack thereof) and other factors, so the game can pick scenarios that the player might enjoy more, based on how they behave. It also is used to punish the player for pursuing more than one character at a time (the game is intended for 1-1/2 hours per game, with emphasis on making other playthroughs for other characters interesting and engaging, and also because save mechanics with Quest is a bit tricky).

Luckily the program I use, Quest, makes this easy, but it's tedious, and adding characters means making edits to a fuckload of other things in-game. Apart from previous attempts at making this in the past, I'm writing down a plan before just getting balls-deep into it. And the only obstacle I really see is tedium of actually writing every line of dialogue and every scenario.

At the advice of another anon in another thread, I am rewriting from scratch (again) the shitty 2d sidescroller that I am working on. I do this every time I am introduced to new programming concepts, as it helps me cement them into memory.

The two main things that I am focusing on for this rewrite are:
- Rewriting the engine and world classes as namespaces. These were single-object classes, and I am changing them to namespaces so that I can access the functions without having to use object pointers.
- Separating my classes into several base classes. For example, the sprite class will deal with drawing sprites onto the screen, and will be inherited by the player class, item class, enemy class, etc.

Are these good ideas, or am I still being an idiot?

Where are you going to put the data? Global variables? You're better off having them as singletons. Keeps things more organized, since there's still a "world" class and an "object" class, but you can also access them from anywhere (`World::getInstance().doStuff()`).

Be careful with this. It's easy to go overboard and make things more complicated than they need to be. Do you really need a Sprite base class, or could it be an interface (no data, just a virtual `draw()` method) plus a few free functions to handle common drawing operations? And do you really need that interface? Is it actually useful to be able to abstract over multiple types of drawable objects, or would it be okay to handle each one separately (`map.draw(); player.draw(); for (e : enemies) e.draw();`)?

Nah, I thought about it a bit more and I think that's a pretty good option. Don't forget you can also have static variables in a .cpp file (like `static int foo;` at top level in the file), which are accessible only from that file and nowhere else, regardless of naming or namespacing. Those would be good for private data, so you can guarantee that other code isn't manipulating them from outside the namespace.

It's probably a bit more convenient having the variables be non-static. Also, with an object you can do some tricks where you actually have more than one instance of the "singleton" in the program - you could make the static `Singleton::INSTANCE` field thread-local and have one instance per thread, for example.

Problem is that moho focuses on rigs too much, they just implemented frame by frame lately but it feels quite clumsy. sometimes you just need tweening, you can't do everything with rigs only. The vector tools also take quite some time to get used to. Toonboom is also more often used in the industry, so you got better chances with it if you wanna go somewhere

Is it going to be like an isometric shooter? If so, add a button that halts movement and allows free control of direction. Another thing that helps is a button that freezes your direction so you can backpedal and still be able to fire.

thanks, Ive actually been working on the engine since December, but only recently started to actually add content and textures, there's a lot of stuff done that cant be shown yet, like the inventory system and skill tree since I dont have any sprites for it yet, but hopefully development is going to speed up now that its 'playable'.

yes, controls are based off of crimson land (great, old, game if you havent played it), WASD moves you around, and you fire in the direction of the mouse curser using the left mouse button, so you can move back and fire and so on. I may add keyboard only controls too, in that case ill probably base it on The binding of Isaac rebirth (Edgy: The Game, if you havent played it), but with diagonal firering as well..

I started on Unity, and made pretty good progress, but at some point I realized Unity is shit if you want total control, and unity doesnt support the latest C# versions, and you cant use unit testing, so then I switched and could luckily keep almost all of my code.

Im planning multiple attacks, but im having some difficulties deciding what, since I want multiple ponies, and some projectile weapons.

Unicorns are easy, just use magic, either directly, or to levitate the weapon, but earth ponies and pegasi are a problem.

Maybe make weapons yoke mountable.

To be show accurate, earth ponies should only be able to use weapons when they are stationary (or slowly moving for a limited time), and stand on their back legs, holding it with their front legs, maybe give earth ponies a powerful melee attach (kicking), plus a ranged attach that can only be used when stationary for a couple of milliseconds.

And give pegisi contact damage when moving fast, + long range jump/fly.

Although that all changes when you change the zoom, and I have no idea how to keep everything at the same resolution since im not going to draw everything at zoomed in detail.

Maybe just put a shader on the menus to pixelate them when you zoom in so that they match the tiles, but that will make text unreadable.

Or remove ability to zoom further in, only out since that will naturally be limited by your screen resolution.

Or just keep menus at a consistent resolution and the world at another.
