>What is this thread about?
This thread revolves around stories about ponies being enslaved.

>Can you elaborate more?
Sure! SPG (Slave Pony General) is mostly about characters dealing with the actual implications of the horrifying thing that is chattel slavery. It's more looking at how people with modern sensibilities deal with the ownership of another sentient being, and how most people aren't total cunts.
If you want an explanation on the differences between /SPG/ and /SiM/, go check out the FAQ.

"Well, we've sorted out all the submissions that were meaningless or... pointlessly antagonistic, put the remainder to a vote, and put the rest to a series of votes."
> Anonymous nods, though one eyebrow rises.
> "Pointlessly antagonistic?"
"Yes, Master."
> "Were there that many?"
"...yes."
> Please don't ask what was in them...
> It's the last thing you need.
> "Hmm. well."
> Shrugging, Anonymous lets off a small chuckle.
> "Suppose there were bound to be a few who don't like me. Not a concern; let them vent. Long as nothing serious happens I don't care."
> A small relief.
"With that done, we've resolved everything down to a top few responses."
> "Alright. Hit me."
> You pass the slip-laden envelope to Anonymous and he pops it open -- working through each in turn.
> "New housing... well, that was in the cards already if expansion was going to happen. You're probably going to want to hold on that one. Expand the general store's stock... that's a doable one, though you'll have to tell me exactly what you want..."
> You glance askew as he works, taking peeks at the expressions of the two other ponies who'd joined you for this.
> Mocha Cream was as much here as Anonymous' servant, but truthfully you were glad to have her part in this as well.
> Mayor Mare, on the other hand, seemed decidedly nervous.
> She hadn't had as many direct dealings with Anonymous, but her administrative skills practically demanded she be a part of this.
> Rumble had preemptively bowed out of joining you - accurately (and to your private relief) admitting that being in Anonymous' presence wouldn't be good for him.
> "A party?"
"Finding a proper date might be appropriate, but a celebration of some kind to help ponies... let go of everything for a while."
> "Noted."
> Flipping to the next card, both Anonymous' eyebrows shoot up.
> "Well now, Cadance, I didn't expect this one."
"Sir?"
> Flipping the slip around to show you, he tilts his head.
>>
>>29390047

> "I mean, I understand there are many couples in the camp but - 'sex dungeon'?"
> Blushing furiously, you practically rip the card from his hand to float it before your eyes - as if to confirm that yes, it did indeed have those two words written on it.
"That - that was not a voted choice. It must've... slipped in by accident."
> "Of course."
> But you could hear the laughter in his tone, and it only deepened the flush on your cheeks.
> "Now, let's see... an outside camp? What's this about, Cadance?"
"Master - for better and for worse, this camp is basically our world. Except for trips to hospitals for more serious injuries and the occasional off-site job, we basically never leave."
> "And you think that getting out would actually ease tensions?"
"Yes, Master. A - A secondary camp, or even just an apartment or cabin - someplace else to go, get out for a while."
> It was hard to hide the anticipation that was leaking into even your own voice.
"There's another suggestion in there for just putting the funds to allow some days to be taken off work, so you can see this is a thing that ponies want."
> "Alright."
> Folding his hands together, Anonymous meets your gaze evenly.
> "I'm going to be honest: You don't have enough funds there to both build - or buy - someplace else, cover the costs of ponies taking off work to go there, and have guards on-station."
> Your ears fall, but he goes on:
> "Now, I'm not against it... but it means that you're going to have to accept further costs down the line to meet it. Whether that means working harder, or just putting any rewards you earn down the line towards this too - but you're going to be locked into it."
"I... understand, Sir. I was hoping to rotate ponies out over time to minimize the costs."
> "It'll help, but won't replace. So, if you pick it just be aware of that."
> Folding the next card over, he goes on:
> " 'Museum of Equestria'?"
>>
>>29390055

"Ponies are worried about losing who were are - as a culture, a nation, and about ponies who've been lost in slavery being forgotten. Putting somewhere aside where we could store mementos, memories, tokens of our past to make sure it isn't forgotten-"
> "Absolutely not."
> Shaking his head, former smile now absent entirely, Anonymous folds his arms.
> "That's the exact kind of thing that will keep pushing rebellion. The longer you keep pining for something that will never come back, the longer you will take to accept that this is how things are now."
"You can't stop ponies wishing for the past!"
> "No. But I don't have to encourage it either."
> You aren't even sure why this in particular incensed you so much.
> It certainly wasn't the first time you'd been subjected to some indignity, and not the only time you'd been told to let go of Equestria either.
> But something about this - the way he just brushed you off and seemed unwilling to hear even a basic argument.
> Forcing your anger down, you take a deep breath and try again:
"Master. There's no intent to drive rebellion here; in fact, I think it would reduce tensions to - to make a show of allowing them to express themselves."
> "Possibly, in the short term."
> Your heart rises, but just as quickly falls as he goes on:
> "In the long term, though? In the long term it'll only drive desire to try and seek that out. Maybe your ponies are right - maybe it would be better if it were forgotten entirely."
> Taking the slip out, he pointedly tears it in half and then again.
> A little voice in the back of your head reminds you that he doesn't mean to be insulting.
> Even so your teeth lock together to keep something bitter and unfortunate from slipping from your lips.
> Mayor Mare, picking up that you are in no state to continue, coughs softly.
> "Perhaps... we should continue?"
> Bless that mare.
> Anonymous nods, seemingly content to let the matter go as well.
> "Next one... let's see. A - 'break room'?"
>>
>>29390064

> "Or recreation hall. Games room. Something for ponies to do in their time, go blow off steam. It'd generate good will, and give everypony something to do better than paint graffiti and break windows."
> Rubbing his chin, Anonymous nods.
> "I see sense in that. Low footprint and reasonably cheap as well - this could definitely be done with your current funds. Improved on, with later ones. It's definitely an option."
> Folding over to the last card, he tilts his head.
> "Off-site vacation... yeah, you did mention that would be coming up-"
> This directed to you.
> "-and if we're not talking about having anything set up for them off-site, just visits..."
> He scratches his chin.
> It'd be hard. Maybe even harder than building or renting some place for them to go. At least security is easy to manage in a limited area..."
"They wouldn't be out as long this way, then."
> Finally having managed to unlock your teeth, go back to work trying to convince him on at least this much.
"It'd just mean a bit of time away, instead of too long-"
> "I know. I was already figuring on it."
> Leaning back in his chair, he frowns.
"You're not against it, though."
> "Not automatically. It can be done... it'll just take a bit of planning. You'll have to figure out how will be chosen."
> "That's easily doable."
> Mayor Mare pipes up.
> "A straight schedule is probably best. That way we can make sure nopony's absence is too disruptive."
> Again, Celestia bless that mare; she was more than you felt you deserved sometimes.
> Nodding, Anonymous crosses his legs.

> "Alright, Cadance: I'm going to lay it out for you: I can definitely get a second site set up away from the camp for them, but it's going to cost you - a lot. You're going to be paying it back for a while, maybe even some extra shifts to make it happen. An on-site rec center or something is much, much more doable. But if you want a chance at running vacations... well, it'll happen over time and take a bit of planning, but it'll be easier to fund. Especially since we can do it as a once-off thing."

So, what're we doing?
> Off-site 'vacation camp' - extremely pricey, but definitely would be a big morale boost.
> Rec center - a smaller step, but has no strings attached.
> Outside visits - tricky and complicated, but at least not as pricey as a permanent 'camp'.

I'm setting this as a 'pick one' choice to avoid discussion dragging out too long.
>>
>>29390081
>Rec center - a smaller step, but has no strings attached.

This, and maybe convince ponies to work towards the Off site.
>>
>>29390081
>Rec center
These ponies seem to be getting antsy. They should get something out of what they were promised sooner than later, the off-site vacation camp can be something for later on.

It's easier to promise something that big when we deliver something small first anyways.
>>
>>29390076
Old history fella, but really with a sweet ending
>>
>>29390081
>No to the museum
I'm sorry to outright break the 'pick one' rule but, iff anyone else in the thread would second or third it? I would like to vote towards Cadance making a stronger push at convincing Anonymous of the museum. Mocha especially looked like she REALLY needed something to help remember the land she was stolen from. Point out to Anon that ponies are afraid of their ability to speak freely being stifled. That part of the reason for the grafitti is that they believe they will be punished for remembering Corona or their homeland. Point out that in completely shutting down this request, he is affirming some of those fears. He will only piss off more ponies by insisting there can be no remembrance, an act he admits he can't stop anyhow, but in agreeing to this he would be giving them a show of good faith that will make them more compliant. One that is desperately needed after the Corona incident and his degradation of their leader.

If he no sells it, my vote will be the rec-center. Because it's better to buy something tangible and there now when they need something like that most than something intangible that will need more work later, like an off-site camp, or something that only a few ponies will be able to enjoy at a time like vacation (though Outside visits gets my secondary vote)
>>
>>29388885
Oh yeah. That, among other things, was pretty nice.

>>29389404
This is almost like, the opposite of how I prefer to write their body types.

It's interesting, up until her transformation, all the mane six used identical body frames. But we know that "in world" they weren't actually the same; Applejack specifically calls out Twilight as a little pony.

Most notably, I've always preferred the idea that Fluttershy is the tallest, but also most slender (though now Twilight is taller).
>>
>>29390081
Rec center, I think. More talk of "long term benefits for short term sacrifices" right now will probably piss off a lot of ponies, so for now, I think a vacation camp is out of the question.
>>
>>29390081
>> Off-site 'vacation camp' - extremely pricey, but definitely would be a big morale boost.

A trip outside could improve the mood of the ponies and encourage an improvement in their performance, it really is not a bad idea to make them see more than just the property as the real world.

The primary problem is cost, logistics, transportation and security, maybe there is no problem with the hotel or place to go, but the problem in the long run is that the ponies could take advantage of escape, in addition, despite everything, They are not workers enjoying their vacation period; They are slaves and going outside could arouse feelings of rebellion in them.

>ec center - a smaller step, but has no strings attached.
It sounds like the most feasible, a place of relaxation and recreation ideal for exhausted workers to relieve their pain, perhaps not a tavern (although I do not doubt that the ponies traffic with the guards in exchange for bottles of cider or other 'harmless' things) But if a place free of pressures and that invites to fun and communication between ponies

>Outside visits - tricky and complicated, but at least not as pricey as a permanent 'camp'.

Let them start with the second idea and according to the result of their work and the numbers in the book Anon decide to take a group of ponies to visit the city or wherever he plans to take them

Adding onto my suggestion here.

>>29390191
I agree with this. Take note that Anon doesn't know pony history. He doesn't know that they've gotten through everything with harmony and companionship. If he knew this maybe they could have something set up like the stain glass windows that the old canter lot castle had. It doesn't even have to be as expensive and fragile. It can be a series of paintings or one long marble mural if somepony around is a mason. A mural could be set up publicly in the middle of or even around the recreation area to remind ponies that they didn't get through hardships by singling other ponies out and causing straight up anarchy. The only way to defeat your opponent historically is to show him how much more valuable friendship is and learn how to return it.

Mural can be something like pic related.
>>
>>29390081
>Rec center
The boring choice, and like most boring choices the right one.

>Sex dungeon
Actually the most practical! Anon already has a fancy purpose built facility. All he needs to do is loan it out when (almost always) available for zero cost. Have you been a bad colt? Whap!

>Museum of Equestria
I love how Anons motivations come out here: he really believes taking their culture away is best for them, and has good arguments for it that just happen to serve his interest. But is seems (and is!) the height of arrogance and cruelty from Cadance and the ponies perspective. Dramatic writing: good on ya Slaveventure!
But that museum will be built regardless of how Anon feels, and on a grander scale than they can imagine. What seems to be forgotten here is they happen to be no-shit intelligent aliens right here on Earth, and a whole field full of tenured professors will be studying Equestrian Culture for generations. When pony slavery ends, even many centuries in the future, human academics can be trusted to preserve it. But only if they have stories and artifacts to preserve now. These ponies should find a way to reach out to the local university; someone there will be thinking about this and have the resources to do something about it.

>Vacation Camp
As Anon says, not today, but...

>Outside visit
Impractical for the whole camp, very practical for a few lucky lottery winners. Even if the Rec Center gobbles up almost all the funds this should be done as a pilot project. Megan, Flurry, a few winners wearing tracking / shock collars, and an accommodating guard or three could have a (sort of) good time for less than ten grand or so. This would take some world building, and perhaps a crossover to another story. I'm sure ShinyAnon, GlimmerAnon, or GeologicAnon could put them up! Or they could just chill in a nature park for a while.
>>
>>29388176
>And that's not to mention the out of nowhere powerslide from someone that basically sounds like a touchless kissless shut-in to a regular sexual BDSM Dom, planning to froce Fluttershy to wear fetish leather (admittedly he doesn't know about her empathy for and connection to animals).

IIRC people were complaining about Anon being too nice and the writer caved in, to poor results.
>>
>>29390458
>Museum of Equestria
His memories of his life in Equestria can only be preserved in the memories and legends that the ponies narrate for generations to come, a form of rebellion against their human oppressors, the last flame of freedom in a world of slavery.

Who knows, if everything goes well and Megan and Flurry lead the next settlement in the future they allow the museum to open in honor of Equestria's past

Seems like Anon really dislikes the idea of preserving pone culture. A shame, really.

I vote Rec center and start setting 10% or so of monthly funds towards Camp. How long would it take to fund it? If over 2 years, Im not sure if ponies would go for it, seems like too long of a time.
And if funding a camp would take too long, visits would help release the tension.

For now, Rec Room.
And if Anon doesnt make us a museum, we will make ourselves a secret museum on our own!
>>
>>29392193
>And if Anon doesnt make us a museum, we will make ourselves a secret museum on our own!
Yeah, I still think we should talk to him about horsie history too. If only he knew pony history as a whole met his interests as well he's probably be behind it 100%. It's not at all like Human history and he wanted them to be more friendly, forgiving, and grateful Or complacent which is exactly what it encourages. Hearths warming especially. They made Equestria their new home and had a much easier time living because they stopped fighting and took the effort to learn to work together. They could have hope to make Earth their new home if they stopped fighting and rebelling the human way.

That's another thing, actually. Anon should give them holidays off. That will probably increase morale better than a party at some random day.

Thanks Google Translations for this fine work

Who knows, if everything went well and the project of expansion came to fruition and Megan & Flurry were old enough and ready to take the reins of the operation and the direction of their respective group of ponies and to achieve successful results would be a Good gesture to create a museum or a memorial celebrating the past of Equestria, a place of recreation to celebrate parties, cutieañeras, birthdays and even weddings between ponies and possibly organizing guided visits to the city for ponies more outstanding in their work or through a lottery (could be bi-monthly, semi-annual or depending on the season), perhaps the objectives more ambitious are not fulfilled during the administration of Anon and Candance, but they could lay the groundwork so that their daughters can give everyponies a better future without losing the roots of its origin and the effort of its predecessors to achieve it

>>29393051
I think what he's looking for is a story where someone buys their slave, and actually treats them like a slave? Like, most "first-time master" stories in this thread are focused on characters who mostly reject treating their ponies as slaves. Most of those who do treat them slave-like are "veteran" owners.
>>
Something like that, the daily life of a rookie master who has never had anything under his authority, not even a pet, and then acquires a pony, and then he has no idea what to do.

You could ask for advice from other slavers, read some manual or see some shit on Youpony.

Of course, he does not know if he should treat his pony like a dog or a servant
>>
>>29393440
I think a lot of our stories start that way, but quickly derail because the pony is in such bad shape, such as in A New Landscape.
Others stick pretty close to the theme, but with masters that treat their property well, like Geologist Maud, Shiny/Corona, and Fire and Sky. Maybe Buying a Bookhorse, but it's been a while and I've forgotten their early interaction. They still expect their ponies to work and don't give them a choice, but they aren't sadistic about it. I think a few stories even touched on the master looking up care instructions online and things like that.

>It’s been two and a half weeks since your town outing with Anon and his family.
>You figure that’s probably the best term to describe their relationship, and you doubt any of them would contest that from what you’ve seen.
>Having told what really happened to somepony has helped to clear your mind somewhat. And her comforting yet still firmly honest reassurance that your actions weren’t all bad has undoubtedly helped as well.
>Construction on the residences has, to your great frustration, ground to a halt. Issues keep cropping up, and as soon as one problem is resolved, two more take its place. One day there isn’t enough cement mix to fill a foundation. The next, you find out that the bolts you’ve been using the past four days have all been the wrong size. The problems just don’t seem to end.
>Any time advantage you had from the rail construction has been wiped out, and other construction teams are starting to move ahead of yours.
>At least you’ve started growing more comfortable with a position of leadership. It’s easier now to organize the ponies and give commands. You still hold reservations about yourself, but it’s probably not healthy to outright avoid responsibility.
>Today, work has been progressing well, but you’ll have to shave a few hours off your planning (and perhaps a few days after that) due to a massive incoming snowstorm. To be fair, you’ve had exemplary weather so far, but you’ll be damned if you like it when good things come to an end.
>Before that storm hits, you need to have the metal roofing in place for the first residence hall. You’re going to be cutting it close, as there’s a lot of work to do, but if it’s not done feet of snow will inevitably pile up inside, causing incalculable damage to the fresh foundation and scattered materials.

>Thankfully, you pulled a few strings and got some pegasi to help out. Their assistance in placing the sheeting is invaluable, and might make the difference between success and failure today.
>You haven’t seen much of Crystal Skies lately, but his help was critical in rounding up their group. Apparently, he’s actually managed to attract a fine young pegasus mare, a green-coated beauty with a fiery yellow mane named Cloud Skimmer, and you’re glad to see the end of his nonstop half-joking flirting.
>You can see the couple working hard, straining under the weight of a metal panel they’re flying up to the roof. But, they seem happy, chit-chatting with each other to take their minds off the work.
>You, on the other hoof, have few ponies to talk to here. Looking Glass and the other unicorn higher-ups are working elsewhere on the farm, and your co-manager Frostfern isn’t the talkative type.
>As for the rest of the ponies, they don’t seem comfortable talking to you when it’s not strictly business. And you’re fine with that, really. Almost all your friends here are in elevated positions, and thus you don’t expect the ‘common workers’ to fraternize with you.
>After all, you’d almost become the Karl Marx of Equestria, and some of that sentiment still carries over.
>As the day goes on, you become less and less sure that you’ll be able to finish the work before the storm hits. You can see the clouds starting to move in from the west, and they don’t look welcoming.
>You have the ponies start working double time, breaks reduced. You get a few groans in reply, but they by and large comply without complaint. After all, none of them want to be caught out in a blizzard either.
>>
>>29394707
>As for yourself, you’ve been working on transporting materials and doing heavier lifting throughout the day. Now, though, you’re joining the pegasi and unicorns frantically applying the roofing materials to the building itself.
>Several feet of snow are expected to fall tonight alone, so tarping won’t be an option. You have to get this done.
>But as the clouds draw nearer, you start to become less confident in your situation. The other construction teams have started to go in already, and you can see your ponies getting anxious as their friends trot by.
>The temperatures have dropped, and the wind is picking up. It’ll only be a few minutes before the sun has been blocked out by the clouds.
>”Starlight!” you hear Crystal Skies call out. You look over and see him wiping his brow after bolting in another sheet of roofing. “We’re out of time! The storm is gonna hit us, we have to go in!”
>You scan the building from the air. It’s only a pretty small corner left, it’ll go fast. And if it’s not done, days or even weeks might be shaved off your schedule to repair the damages the building will incur.
“We can get it done! Just keep going, we can do it!”
>The ponies look to you with varying degrees of concern, but they all get back to their tasks and pick up the pace. A look towards Frostfern reveals him to be of a similar mood, anxious but determined.
>Within a quarter of an hour, the work is done. By now, though, the cold has started to bite and snow is falling thick. Any traces of the sun’s warmth are reserved for land miles away, yet to be caught up in the storm.
“Alright! That’s the last of it! Everypony stick close, I’ll get a heater orb to follow us!”
>>
>>29394718
>Creating an orb large enough to keep everypony around you comfortable indefinitely isn’t possible, but it should help to prevent anypony from being hurt in the walk back home.
>The strain is compounded by the pegasi, who can’t fly back in the driving, wet wind. They’re forced to walk alongside your group.
>The rail system can’t hold everypony your with, but that doesn’t matter much. By now the tracks will be too icy and slick to use.
>So instead, your group plows forwards. You’re comfortable in your enchanted winter clothing, but you have to get back fast for the sake of the ponies behind you who are already shivering.
>Halfway there, and you’re officially caught in the storm. Although the heating orb melts most of the snow that comes inside its radius, visibility is reduced inside of it due to the dimmed sun and present fog.
>Outside of the bubble, you can’t see more further ahead than a few paces. If you didn’t know the dimensions of this road and the farm as well as you do, you wouldn’t be able to tell when you’d arrive at the housing area until it was just a few feet in front of you.
>The ponies behind you are shivering, but not just from the cold. You can understand their concern: if not for this heating bubble, there’s a very real chance none would make it back.
>You’ll have to do something to thank them. Perhaps arrange for a special event, or empty out your liquor drawer.
>At last, the barrack-style housing blocks come into view. You give a cry in excitement, with the added effect of rallying those behind you. You pour into the nearest building, one of the communal housing blocks.
>>
>>29394730
>The ponies inside quickly make way for your group, which pours into the warm interior. You recast a heating orb, to get everypony back to a healthy body temperature quicker.
>As the last of them trickle in, you go back to the door and scan both visually and magically for anypony still outside. Finding nothing, you shut the door and turn back to your relieved crowd.
>Ponies are hugging, chatting, and curling up for warmth. A few dirty looks are shot your way, but you ignore them. Those sentiments are to be expected and forgiven after such a difficult and dangerous hike.
>But, before anything else, you need to do a head count.
“Everyone! Everyone, quiet down please! Before all else, we need to do a head count. Can I have everypony not in our team to please go to the other end of the room?”
>Somewhat reluctantly, the ponies separate themselves, leaving your group on its own and away from the rest. It looks like everypony is here, but you’ll do a head count just in case.
>One, two, three… fifty-five, fifty six. Add yourself and Frostfern, and that makes fifty-eight ponies.
>But… wait.
>Before you can speak, a pegasus darts up from the crowd and wildly looks about the room.
>”HEY! WHERE IN GOD’S NAME IS CLOUD SKIMMER?!”
>…

NOOOOOOOOO
>>
>>29394758
Why do I have this awful feeling that her work group was being deliberately sabotaged? After the rapid success she had in putting together the rail line and being rewarded with yet another trip outside with all the foreponies, someone might have decided that Starlight needed to be taken down a few notches. If that kind of pettiness ends up costing Cloud Skimmer her life, you can bet there's going to be hell to pay.

Anyway, good update overall. If you do plan on killing Skimmer I sort of wish we'd gotten to know her earlier so it would hurt more, but it's not that big of a deal; the impact can still be shown on Crystal Skies.

Also, I'm guessing that repeatedly teleporting ponies too and from the work site would have been too exhausting for Glimmer?

I didn't want to name drop Skimmer, but I felt I had to when writing in that last line. So I went back and added in the name. She is dead, the part about Starlight searching for life signs by magic and finding nothing confirms that. She is not significant aside from being a pony that just died due to Starlight's directives.

Not commenting on the rest right now, but as for teleportation, I see it as follows.

Difficulty for the spell is effectively number of ponies squared multiplied by distance. So, while Glimmer going 500m in one spell is ezpz, it's four times harder with an extra pony. This mechanic is actually extremely important later on (not the equation I'm imagining but the difficulty scaling) so keep it in mind. Weight of inanimate objects and animals also increases difficulty, but not nearly as much as adding ponies.

Teleporting a group that size more than a few yards could be enough to kill her.

>Not one of these pans has ever turned up anything but rocks and dirt, but still you find yourself trying again and again. It’s an exercise in futility more than anything else.
>You sigh, put the pan of worthless rubble off to the side and take a look around.
>Your breath condenses into a gray mist in front of you, despite the morning sun’s full presence. It’s October, which means that most leaves that can fall off already have, and the first snow is probably right around the corner.
>Not like you can know. Even if there are weather stations this far out in the Alaskan wilderness, it’s not like you have any way to access their data.
>So instead, your expert opinion determines that it’s fucking cold, as usual, but not fucking cold enough to freeze the stream yet.
>But despite the cold, the overriding peace of this idyllic landscape puts you in a permanently good mood. No matter how many pans yield nothing, no matter how many potential veins turn up shit, the natural beauty of this wilderness keeps you going.
>The only signs of human occupation are your own cabin, traps, and storage facilities, but those blend in well enough with the rustic theme. Occasionally, propeller aircraft pass over, but there isn’t a runway for them for dozens or maybe hundreds of miles around you.
>You would get lonely, but you’re not that kind of guy. As long as you have your books, pens, and paper, you can hold enough conversations with yourself to keep up your English.
>You shove yourself up from your position and go to check the crawfish traps. Thankfully, even though your gold search seems to always turn up lacking, the tasty critters can’t get enough of you.
>Which is good, because you can’t get enough of them, either.
>>
>>29400825
>As expected, your traps turn up full, and you’re spared of another day of fishing or hunting. But, depending on how your mood swings, you might do one or the other anyway. Winter’s coming, and your stores can never get too full.
>You’re about to shoulder the baskets of writhing shellfish when a large crash rocks the woods on the other side of the stream.
>Holy shit, the tree shook. That’s a grizzly or a moose, and either one can and will gore you with ease. You unsling your shotgun and point it at the brush, ready to unload six rounds of buckshot at a moment’s notice.
>A bit more rustling, and finally, the offending animal is visible.
>Wait, what the fuck?
>”Oh, hi mister!”
>…

>But, apparently, not too lost, because there’s a nice man with a gun on the other side of the stream!
>”What the fuck? Where’d you come from?” he shouts, keeping the firearm steady.
“Oh! I came from those woods.” You point to the brush behind you, “But I crashed a few times and I’m not sure where I am. Are we near Fairbanks?”
>”The Hell? We’re a fifteen day hike from Fairbanks! How’d you get out here?”
You should probably be concerned by his gun, but it’s not in your nature. “Oh! My plane crashed a few days ago, and I’ve just been kind of flying around, trying to find my way to a town. Is there one nearby?”
>”A plane crash?”

Wait, new story? I haven't been on SPG in the few weeks, is A Glimmer Of Hope finished?
>>
>>29400844
>You hadn’t seen much of these ponies yet, since your visits to civilization are few and far between, but from what you had seen, you’re very surprised that this one isn’t cowering at fear having a gun pointed at her.
>She’s small in size with rounded features, so you’re pretty sure it’s a she.
>You’re not even sure if she’s looking at you, even though you can clearly see her massive yellow eyes from across the waterway. For some reason, they seem to be pointed in different directions.
>Can ponies do that?
“You armed?”
>”I’ve got a Swiss army knife, but I don’t know how to use it.”
>The bags she has strapped to her are packed to the brim.
“Put your bags down, leave your stuff, then fly on over to this side of the stream.”
>To your slight surprise, she obliges, shrugging off the packs and flapping over to you. You notice that her flight is slightly erratic, but she somehow manages to avoid injury upon landing.
“If I stop pointing this gun at you, are you going to do anything?”
>”Why would I do that?”
>You look around. No witnesses, if she’s some kind of criminal. But then again, it’s not like you have anything of value out here.
>Stupid bad luck prospecting…
“Alright, point taken,” you say as you lower the weapon. To your relief, she calmly walks towards you. “So, uhh, pony. You got a name?”
>Her expression doesn’t shift, maintaining a soft, cheerful smile, “Well, back in Equestria my name was Derpy, but lots of ponies called me Ditzy. Then, my old master started calling me Muffins since that’s my favorite food, and he said it was a cuter name.”
“So, what you want me to call you?”
>She shrugs, “Anything’s fine, I guess. You could call me something else if you want, I don’t mind.”
“Guess I’ll call you Muffins then. Your master’s right, it is a good name for a pony.”
>But wait.
>>
>>29400853
“Actually, hold on a fucking second. That’s right, you ponies are indentured or whatever. Where’s your master.”
>For the first time, her smile breaks, and she looks down, “He’s… still in the plane.”
>You eye her. She certainly has her fair share of scrapes and bruises, but if she’s been flying into trees like you just saw, they could all be new. For all you know, the poor guy might be lying in a ditch somewhere a mile away with a knife in his gut.
“Pony. Muffins. Look at me.”
>You’re going to ask her for details, but the streams of tears flowing down her cheeks tell you she’s being truthful.
“What… know what, never mind. How long you been traveling, uhh, since the crash?”
>”It’s been four days including this one, mister. We crashed right around noon.”
>At least she doesn’t look starved. But, then again, there’s probably ample food for her in this lush landscape.
“And you’ve just been wandering around, looking for a town since then?”
>”Well, not wandering. I have a map, but I’m a little lost. I just know we went down somewhere straight north of Fairbanks, and I’ve been going south since then.”
>That causes you to pause. Something doesn’t add up here.
“Now hold up. That doesn’t seem right. We’re west of Fairbanks. Like, cardinal west.”
>”Really?”
>She jumps a little in surprise, and her eyes shift directions. They don’t exactly straighten out, just shift.
>You think you can see why she’s lost.
“Yeah. And, more bad news, there isn’t a town anywhere around here, either. It’s basically just you and me for at least fifty miles on all sides.” You scratch the back of your neck, “Up until five minutes ago, I was assuming it was just me, too.”
>”O-oh. Shoot.” She looks somewhat downtrodden at the revelation.
>But, she perks up again, and shifts the topic, “So, uhh, mister! I told you my name, what’s yours?”
“I’m Anon. Pleasure to meet you, Muffins.”
>…
>>
>>29400852
Nope, side story. Wanted to write this, so I did. Won't be nearly as long.
>>29400855
>Wow! This guy’s got a cool name!
>He seems pretty nice, too. Although you are worried about there being no town nearby.
>And also being hundreds of miles away from where you thought you were.
>”So, uhh, if I let you go get those bags of yours, you aren’t gonna hurt me with anything in them, are you?”
>You look over to the saddlebags you left behind across the stream. Mostly, they just contain survival equipment, but you also found a couple cool rocks and flowers. Don’t want to lose those.
“Oh, no sir! I don’t think I could hurt a fly.”
>Actually, you had hurt a fly on accident, one time. But you took him to Fluttershy and they both forgave you, so it probably doesn’t count.
>”Alright, then go ahead and get them. I’ve gotta take these crawfish back to my cabin before anything else, and you’re coming with me.”
“Okay Mr. Anon!” You quickly fly over, pick up the bags, and come back, landing next to him.
>”Don’t have to call me mister. I’m just an old-timey prospector. Anon’s fine.”
“Okay Anon!”
>There’s a trail worn into the ground leading away from this part of the stream, and Anon starts down along it. You decide to walk the distance, keeping pace with him and, thankfully, avoiding any more crashes.
>Your face is hard after so many thousands of impacts, but they can still hurt.
>Shortly, a quaint log cabin comes into view. Supported by a set of large, thick poles, the cabin itself is pretty small, but it has a big deck area and storage space underneath on a separate raised platform. Both are packed with crates, barrels, and pallets of supplies.
“Wow, Anon! Do you live here?”
>”Yeah, I know it ain’t much, but it’s all I need. Guess it suits the atmosphere, too.”
>>
>>29400861
“Yeah, it’s amazing!” You recall delivering post cards back in Equestria with similar scenes on them. This place, you think, would trump all of them.
>”Amazing isn’t the word I would use, but whatever floats your boat. I think ‘cozy’ is a better word.”
“Ooh, yeah, that is better!”
>He looks back at you, through the cage of crawfish slung over his shoulder, “You’re certainly cheerful for someone who’s just survived a plane crash, is lost hundreds of miles from civilization, and is currently being led to an isolated cabin in the woods.”
“Oh, I’m always cheerful! Except if I have a reason not to be. But right now, I don’t think I do, so being cheerful is just natural!”
>Your mood does dampen when your thoughts shift back to your master, dying underneath the plane’s smoldering wreckage.
>And all at once, the scene replays itself in your mind.
>…

Thanks senpai. Glimmer of hope is starting to wrap up but it's still got 10-20k words left.
>>29400866
>”Derpy,” he called out. It was the first time he’d used your real name. “Listen to me. I don’t know how you got out. But you gotta go.”
“Master, I can’t. You’re stuck.”
>”Listen to me, girl.” His eyes stayed locked on you, and you wished you could hold his gaze, “My leg, I saw it. You don’t want to. To look. I… I’m not gonna any more.”
“Master, please, can’t you pull yourself out?” You nudged his side with your nose, fighting back tears.
>He winced as you do so, and you pulled back. “Fuckin’ A, that’s a broke rib too. Probably more. Derpy, Muffins, I ain’t gonna fucking make it. You got your map?”
“I-I have my saddlebags.” You were crying at this point, he had to get up!
>”Good, good. Aaahh, alright, not moving that again. Girl, you know my full name, right?”
“D-david Scheffield…”
>”Good, that’s a good girl. When you get back to town, tell them what happened. You’ve got a copy of the plane’s registration in those bags, keep good care of them. Tell them where we crashed, and what happened to me, alright?”
“No, master, I don’t-“
>”Just stop, for a second, okay? We’re at…”
>He listed out your last coordinates, and they became branded into your mind in the process. “You got that?” he asks, weakly.
“I got it master, but I’m not leaving you. You-you’ll die out here! From the cold, or from thirst, or hunger, I can’t leave you here!”
>Tears stain his face as well, but his eyes widen a bit, and his gaze shifts to a spot behind you. You follow it, and your heart sinks when you see what he’s looking at. “Then don’t, girl. Don’t leave me here.”
>The safety was off and a round was chambered. Just how he always kept it.
>…
>>
>>29400880
>”Hey! Hey! You alright?”
>You snap out of it when Anon puts a hand on your back, shaking you lightly. You realize that you’ve stopped a few feet from the cabin’s front steps, with him kneeling beside you.
“I-I.. I…” You don’t finish the sentence, and instead jump and pull him into a hug. You don’t care if he’s practically a stranger, you need to hold someone.
>”Muffins? You okay?”
“Th-the plane crash. Master. I…” again, you can’t fill in the final words, instead sobbing lightly into his jacket.
>”Oh, uhh, shit. It’s alright, let it all out.”
>You shouldn’t do this to him. He just met you!
>And he’s also the only source of shelter for a hundred miles.
“I-it’s okay. I think I can deal with it.” You break off the hug, slightly embarrassed.
>He stays kneeling for a moment, silent. “You were pretty close to him, then?”
>You just nod in response. He gives you a rub on the head, and stands up, “Alright, if you need more time out here, that’s fine. But come on up and inside when you’re ready, I’ll get started on some cooking and get some fresh wood on the fire.”
>He ascends the stairs, and after a moment, you follow.
>…
>>
>>29400887
>The cabin’s interior is small, but you could see that from the outside.
>The floors are made of unfinished but well-sanded wooden boards, while the walls are composed of stripped logs laid bare atop one another.
>It’s the kind of cabin someone could have and probably did make with his own two hands.
>A small, roughly carved wooden table sits in one corner with two cut logs resting aside it as seats. Aside from some counter space, a rocking chair, and a bear hide couch, the room is otherwise absent of furniture.
>Perhaps surprisingly, there’s a small sleeping area separated from the main cabin space. It doesn’t have a door, instead only partly obscured by a line of bead-laced strings. Inside is barely enough space for a small but comfortable cot and a hand-carved end table.
>The only source of light in the room comes from a dimly-lit wood burning stove, but Anon quickly moves to add more fuel and fan the flames. He also stretches up and lights a kerosene lantern, giving the room a significantly brighter glow.
>”Well, I hope you’re not used to living in a big house or something,” Anon says while still fiddling with the stove.
“Oh, no. Master has - had - just a small apartment in Anchorage. It was only a little bigger than this place, actually.”
>”Ah, but no rustic charm,” he says, turning around with a grin.
“Yeah. Actually, where’s the bathroom?”
>”You didn’t see it when we were coming in? Outhouse, opposite side of the staircase, downhill just a little bit.”
>Oh. You’d thought that was a shed or something.
>”But, yeah, make yourself at home. Only got one bed, so you’ll probably have to sleep on the couch or one of the furs.”
>>
>>29400894
Although you don’t really want to sleep on animal hides like that, it’s probably preferable to the cold wooden floor. “That’s okay, thanks. Where should I put my bags?”
>”Just toss ‘em down wherever. The place isn’t actually this clean most of the time, I just did some fall cleaning last week.”
>You quickly toss your saddlebags down and perch them against the wall, eager to be free from their weight. Might as well take stock of what you have while you’re at it.
>Left bag has all your survival supplies, paperwork, and important stuff sealed in a waterproof bag. This is the side Master had put together years ago in case of an emergency.
>The right side was empty when you started out, but you’ve filled it with tons of cool rocks and plants since you started traveling a few days ago. You should probably take those out now.
>”Are those… rocks?” Anon asks, clearly puzzled by your supplies.
“Oh, yeah! I thought I was a lot closer to the city, so I picked these up to take with me. Some of them are really cool and shiny.”
>You pick up the bag and turn it upside-down, spilling out the rest of the contents. Oh, oops, maybe you should have put the plants on top…
>”What the fuck?” Anon almost shouts, scrambling over to you. “Where the hell did you get these?”
>…
>>
>>29400899
>You are Anonymous, old timey prospector working the unluckiest strip of mineral-rich land in Alaska.
>And the mysterious gray horse you just met has spilled out the contents of her heavily-packed bag, revealing what is probably at least five or six kilograms in solid gold nuggets.
>It’s more than your grandfather found in the decades he spent on this land, and more than you’ve found by a factor of several hundred.
“What the fuck?” you exclaim, feeling your eyes going wide. “Where the hell did you get these?”
>Her brow furrows in a puzzled look, as though confused by your actions, “I picked them up in the forest. Why? Do you want them?”
“Do I?...” Did this horse rob and murder her owner or something? “Okay, do you know what these are?”
>”Shiny rocks, I think?”
“Shiny rocks? No, this is fucking gold! And some pure as shit gold, at that!”
>”Oh, cool!” She smiles at you, her eyes still facing two entirely different directions.
“Did you take this from the plane?” You’d like to retire early, but not on a dead man’s fortune.
>”No, I just found them as I was flying,” she explains, lifting her wings slightly as if to remind you that they’re still there. “Sometimes I would see the sun glint off of something below me, and I would go down to check it out. You have a lot of these around here.”
>Some of these nuggets have to be thirty, forty, fifty grams on their own. And that big one at the center… that one must be close to a hundred. And they’re all big, no flakes.
“You found this. You found several hundred thousand dollars in raw gold, in the last few days?”
>”I guess. Are they really worth that much?”
“Yes! My grandfather spent half his life searching for just this much!” you exclaim, holding up a nugget to the lantern to inspect. It’s pristine.
>>
>>29400904
>”Cool! You can have them if you want. I just thought they looked pretty.”
>This trove alone is worth… a lot. Easily enough to pay off the moderate debt you’ve incurred buying things on credit when you make the trek to town.
>The pony seems unfazed by the revelation of her trinkets’ value. Even if you are taking advantage of her, what harm could it do? You’ll just be taking her back to civilization next season anyway.
>…
>>
>>29400912
>You are a certain gray pegasus who apparently has a knack for prospecting.
>You really didn’t realize how valuable those rocks are! You thought they were just some bits of metal or something. Gold wasn’t as rare back in Equestria, but it was still pretty uncommon and kind of valuable.
>Here, though, it’s worth a lot! Master told you that when he showed you his wife’s wedding ring. You still wonder why you never saw her. Master cried a lot that day, so wherever she is, he must have missed her.
>Back in the present, Anon is still taking your rocks and holding them up to the light. He curses under his breath every now and again, but his tone is of awe rather than anger so you think nothing of it.
>Master certainly didn’t cut back on his language around you…
>Stop! Stop thinking about him! You know you have to let go! If only it weren’t easier said than done.
>”Have them?” Anon asks in reply. “This is a lot of gold, Muffins. I know it’s my business and all, but I’m not sure if I feel comfortable just… taking everything like that.”
“Really, it’s fine. I can’t sell it anyways. Maybe it’s payment for helping me out?”
>He grunts in affirmation and picks up another rock. Come to think of it, how is he helping you out? You’re pretty far from civilization, and the temperatures at night can’t be much higher than freezing already. A trip out now is probably going to be pretty hard.
“About that, by the way. Anon, how are we gonna get to Fairbanks? Or are there any other towns between us and them? Do you have a car or something?”
>He puts down the piece of gold and sighs, “I was about to talk to you about that. You’ve been out for a few days, you know how cold it is, right?” You merely nod your head in response.
>>
>>29400917
>”Well, if you’d shown up maybe two weeks ago, we could probably leave and not get caught up in a blizzard on the way back. No cars, not even a dogsled for me. But now, it’s too late. Trying to hike the distance would be suicide.”
“Oh. Okay then. Can I, uhh, maybe stay here this winter then? It’s definitely a lot warmer.”
>”That’s just what I was about to get to. I think I have enough food saved up to accommodate you, but it could get tight if winter drags on. I’ve got plenty of ammo anyways, so I’ll probably be adding some game to my stockpiles.”
>He stretches a hand out before him, inspecting it absentmindedly. “I wouldn’t mind some company around here, if you’re willing to stay. But I do wanna know one thing.”
“Yeah?”
>”Think you might be willing to help find me some more of these shiny rocks?”
>…
>>
>>29400921
>You are Anon, and you really hope this lazy-eyed gray horse says yes.
>This stretch of land should, by all accounts, be rich with gold. But you’ve never found anything here, and your grandfather barely eked out a living too.
>The sky-pony, though, has collected a small fortune within the span of a few days.
>Even if she only found a few more nuggets this winter, it would give you an idea of where to look in the future. Until now, you’ve been searching with as much knowledge of where you’re supposed to be looking as a blind retard in a dark room.
>Which is why you really hope-
>”Yeah, sure! I love flying, and if it helps you out, that’s just an added bonus!” Perfect.
“Thanks. I won’t make you do anything, of course. No flying when it’s too cold or anything. But really, just finding a few more nuggets on this land would help me out for years.”
>”Yeah, mister Anon, it’s cool. I mean hey, I’d still be wandering through the woods right now if it weren’t for you!”
>That is true. You could probably force her to search, if you wanted. But you’re not that type of dude.
“Awesome. I like you, Muffins.” A thought suddenly comes to your head, “I might have some spare leathers down below the cabin, want me to spend the rest of the day making you a hammock or something?”
>”No, that’s okay. The couch is plenty big enough for a pony.”
“Oh, right.”
>A moment of silence passes, and you throw a small log onto the fire behind you. It doesn’t really need it, but you’ve got plenty of wood and the stove will keep it burning for a long time regardless.
>”So,” the mare asks, “what do you do around here all day? Just… look for gold?”
>>
>captcha is literally "dick alarms"
>>29400930
“Sometimes,” you answer, picking up the fire poker. “Sometimes I do that, sometimes I do other stuff. There’s plenty to do out here, you just never have to do it at some specific time. I was probably going to try some fishing in the river, until you came along.”
>”Oh! That sounds like fun. We can do that.”
“It’s fine, you’re more important than some greasy river fish. What, uhh, what do you like to do for fun?”
>”I like to bake…”
>You look around the room. Yeah, no ovens here, or probably for a few hundred miles in any direction.
“That’s… probably not an option. Any kind of rugged, ‘outdoorsy’ stuff? We’ve got plenty of opportunity for that out here.”
>She shrugs, her left eye moving slightly in the process. “Not really. Maybe you could teach me.”
>You kind of want to start looking for gold, but quality social time with an actual talking, sapient being is something you’re lacking far too often. A slow, chatty fishing day might be a good idea, actually.
“All right, fishing then. Let me grab you a spare rod, and we can head back to the river.”
>…
>>
>>29400936
>To be perfectly honest, you didn’t expect much from teaching the pony to fish.
>You doubted she would even be able to grasp the rod between her hooves, much less actually catch anything.
>But somehow, between her teeth, hooves, wings and body movements, she’s making it work. Already caught herself two trout, and you haven’t been out here an hour.
>You haven’t done much better, taking a salmon and a trout, but by weight you probably have her beat. Regardless, if this keeps up, your food reserves should just keep piling higher.
>They are a concern, after all. There’s no way you could make it through the winter on a full belly with just the stores you have now. You haven’t been planning on feeding for two. Doubtless, you’ll have to devote a substantial amount of time in the coming weeks to getting as much as you can before the river freezes over and the animals grow sparser.
>If one thing is for sure, it’s that you’re going to have a protein-rich winter. What little you’ve gathered or brought back from your last trip to town will all be going to Muffins. Chances are she’ll probably have to eat some meat too, or else forage for herself in the late winter.
>But, thoughts of hardship are pushed to the back of your mind as you chat with the cheerful mare. Her personality is bubbly enough to match her ass picture, or cutie mark or whatever.
>”Anon! I got another one!” You snap your head to the side to watch as she starts reeling in with her teeth. It looks difficult, but she’s making good progress somehow. At last, her catch breaches the surface, revealing a small but hard-fighting char.
“Let me get that for ya,” you offer, already grabbing the line. She drops the pole and you hold up her catch to inspect. “Not the biggest fish I’ve ever seen, maybe three pounds. But nice catch, regardless.”
>>
>>29400942
>”Thanks, Anon! Ooh, it’s got a pretty belly. What kind of fish is it?”
“This here is an Arctic char. They get to be three or four times bigger than this sometimes, so watch out for those.”
>She inspects the fish closer, her ever-present smile widening slightly. You wonder how she manages to see it when her eyes fail to look forwards.
>By now, the sun is getting pretty high in the sky. Your luck probably won’t be lasting much longer.
“I think it might be best to head in. We won’t be catching too much until evening, and in the meantime there’s more important work we can do.”
>”Okay, sure,” the mare agrees as you remove the char from her line. “What were you planning on?”
“Well, first order of business is making you some blankets. The heater might keep the cabin warm for now, but the cold nights come fast. Don’t want you freezing now, do we?”
>”Okay, sure. I can help, if you want. Do you have some yarn? I’m pretty good at knitting.”
You chuckle, “Heh, no, don’t have anything like that. But I do still have a real nice grizzly bear pelt from July. Big male bear showed up near the house, I got a clean shot on him and decided to keep the pelt.”
>”Oh,” she says, her smile briefly dissipating. “Oh, yeah, that’s okay. Sounds good.”
“Something the matter?”
>”I was just hoping you had some wool or cotton fabrics, instead of an animal pelt. I know they’re not really smart here like in Equestria, but I still don’t like to hurt them.” Her smile returns, “But, I get it, better to have that than nothing.”
“Yeah, not a lot of options, sorry. The bear pelt should be warm and reasonably soft, so that’s probably the best thing we have. It’s only for a season, anyway, until we can make the trip to Fairbanks.”
>>
>>29400951
>”Oh! I almost forgot to ask. Why can’t we just take the river? Isn’t Fairbanks down the way?”
“Nope, it’s upstream, and I don’t have a boat that can go that way. It’s on a different tributary anyway. I have to hike out, and then usually get a raft to get back home in half the time.”
>”Oh, okay. I’ve never actually been to this part of the state, just flown over it.”
You laugh, loudly this time, “Oh, trust me. The number of people who can honestly say they have, I can probably count on one hand. Including you. Occasionally a boat or raft goes by on the river, but aside from that this is some pretty isolated land.”
>You pick up the basket containing your fish, and bring out your knife to start gutting them. You’ll do the salmon first, then the char, then move on to the trout.
>”Anon, what are you doing?” You look up and see one of the mare’s golden eyes fixated on you.
“Gutting the fish, what’s it look like?”
>”O-oh. I thought we were going to put them back…”
What? This dumbfounds you. “What? You realize this is how we’re going to be able to eat, right?”
>”Now that you say it, yeah, I guess. I just didn’t really think about it.”
>She actually seems upset. They’re just fish! They can’t even physically feel pain! But then again, she doesn’t seem like the type of creature that could hurt a fly on purpose…
>>
>>29400958
“Well, sorry. But it’s not just sport, we need to gut and salt these to survive the winter. Homesteading isn’t forgiving if you fuck up. Head back to the cabin if you like.”
>She nods and starts back to your small forest home. You sigh and get to work, estimating how long this catch will last you. It’s actually a pretty sizable haul for this time of day, no doubt due to having an extra line going out. You just hope she has the will to help out again this evening.
>Much as you’d like to coddle her, she’s going to have to get used to a lot of hunting and killing. Alaska isn’t a forgiving land, and you’d not realistically survive the season ahead with even a small inhibition towards hunting game.
>She’ll come around, though. Hopefully.

AAAAND that's it. I was considering posting this when it hit 10k words instead of 5k, but it seems to be long enough already. This is a side project I've worked on after finishing a Glimmer update or when I'm not feeling inspired on that fic. Feedback really desired and appreciated.

Good start to some green. Interested in seeing where it goes. You have any experience with homesteading? It's pretty nice. Lot of work though, and weather has been screwing up my plans since November.

I'm interested in your take on best pony. Always so nice to read. That innocent charm is infectious.

Is this anon full Bear Grylls survivalist, or just using the land as an excuse to get away from the city, or what?
>>
>>29401152
Anon journeys out to Fairbanks once or twice a year for supplies, but in general yeah he lives off the land. No, never lived anywhere less dense than a suburb although I'd like to someday. As for Derpy, she's not my favorite background pony (that goes to Lyra) but I thought she's pretty high up overall. Places high on my "good poner" list, which EXCLUDES PINKSHIT, FLUTTERSHIT, AND SHIMMERSHIT.

Maybe not today, maybe not tomorrow, but someday you shall see judgment for your villainy.

All jokes aside, not bad! Interested to see what the central sort of conflict/theme of this story would be, since the typical dynamics of conflict aren't exactly there. Or is it going to be more slice-of-lifey?

Or, are you even meaning to run this simultaneously with Glimmer of Hope or just whenever you're hitting writer's block on it?

Yes.

Primarily man (+pony) vs nature, but a few bumps in the road aside from that.

Also I'm basically out of pictures of her, so just the text this time.

>Be Clear Skies
>In bed.
>With your master.
>The same as every night.
>In your master's arms.
>Snuggled up against him.
>Your happiest place.
>Only this time, your mind just won't stop running.

>You push your back against him.
>A little harder than normal.
>Just being this close isn't enough.
>You've never been very good at handling your...
>Urges
>During estrus.
>Usually you end up at mom's house, locked in your old room.
>Just so you don't do something stupid...

>He's always been so nice to you.
>And gentle.
>And affectionate.
>He loves to cuddle with you.
>And you love it too.
>He's the best master.

>Your head is lying on one of his arms.
>And his other arm is draped over your barrel.
>He's running his hoofspider back and forth.
>Down, rubbing your belly.
>And then all the way back up, stopping to scratch your tuft.
>And back down again...
>Teasingly slow...
>It feels amazing.
>And, being in bed...
>His scent is everywhere.
>And so... overpowering.
>It's making you feel lightheaded.
>That warm tingle is very, very strong now.
>Stronger than you've ever felt it, you think.
>...
>>
>>29401687

>It always makes you so happy being with master.
>But now, it's something else...
>You've had friends, but you were never this close to somepony.
>And you've had coltfriends, but they were always just coltfriends.
>But now, you have some...one, who you can't imagine being away from. Even for a little bit.
>Who makes you happy no matter what you're doing.
>Who treats you like you're the best thing in his life.
>And...
>Who has you so turned-on you're making a puddle.
>There's no way you could hide that.
>Even if you tried.
>He could probably even smell it by now.
>...
>He's your best friend, and your precious master...
>But... could he be more?
>Could a best friend even be a coltfriend?
>You don't see why not, but you don't know what that'd be like...
>Probably really nice.

>Should you...
>Should you try taking it...
>Further?
>Master loves you.
>You know he does.
>And you love master.
>You're absolutely sure about that.
>...
>That's all that's needed, right?

>Yes. Yes it is.
>...
>Master's a colt, no matter how mareish he acts.
>He made the first move tonight.
>Kissing you, on your walk home.
>And you panicked.
>This time, it's your turn.
>Mare up, and show him you want to take it further.

>You lean your head up, and stretch a little.
>And plant a kiss on his chin.
>And he tilts his head down and puts one on your snootle.
>And then in your mane.
>And then another.
>And another.
>And he breathes in, deep.
>Master likes your scent as much as you like his.
>You're getting so hot it feels like you're going to burn up.
>>
>>29401695

"Master?"
>"Mmmhmm?"
"Do... do you... l-like me?"
>He kisses you again, right between your ears.
>"Of course I do. How could I not? You're perfect."
>You don't think you could blush harder than you already were, but you certainly try.
"I-I mean... L-like me, like me."
>You don't know if you have it in you to say it out loud.
>So you push your rump against his crotch.

>He's quiet for a second.
>His face still pressed against your mane.
>His arm still rubbing your belly.
>As nervous as you are, it feels like forever.
>"Yes, Clear. I do."
>You can feel him through his clothes.
>He's already hard.
"D-do you, umm, want to..."
>You wiggle your rump a little.
>And you feel it twitch.

>"Clear... Are you sure? Being with a human is a little... different than a pony."
>You don't know what he means.
>But you know you want this.
"Yes. I'm sure. I.. I want to be with you."
>He moves his head to the side, planting kisses as he goes.
>And he nibbles on your ear.
>Your rear legs buck a little.
>Oh wow.
>THAT is a new feeling.
>...
>Those sharp teeth...
>He could hurt you if he wants.
>And there's nothing you could do to stop him.
>But instead, he's using them to make you feel good.
>U-unf.
>>
>>29401698

>His hand goes back up to your tuft, running his hoofspider through it.
>And keeps going up, gently scratching your chin.
>And then down, through your tuft again.
>Lingering a little on your belly.
>And then...
>Continuing down...
>He stops.
>You know why.
>He's asking for your permission.
>He's making sure it's not moving too fast for you.
>Even now, he's worried about being too rough with you.
>You wrap your tail around his leg.
>To let him know. Yes, you're sure.
>Gently, he moves to your teats.
>Slowly rubbing them.
>And tracing little circles around them.
>And brushing against them.
>He pinches one a little, and you let out a gasp.

>Between the ear, and his hoofspider, the feeling of his chest, and the pressure against your rump...
>And his scent...
>You haven't even started and you're already nearing a maregasm.

>You squirm a little, enjoying his touch...
>But you want more.
"Please, master. Don't teeaaaase me..."
>He bites down a little harder.
>And you twitch.

>He lets go of your ear, and licks it.
>And places a slow, gentle kiss at its base.

>He pulls his arm out from under you, and repositions so he's above you.
>You turn onto your back...
>That smile is as gentle as ever, but this time there's something else too.
>The way he's looking at you.
>His arms pressed down to either side of you.
>Those sharp teeth...
>You can't help but shiver.
>...
>He wants you.
>Just as much as you want him.
>And he's going to take you.
>Because that's what his species does.
>And you've never wanted anything more than you want this.

>!!!
>You were so focused on his face, you lost track of what he was doing.
>His...
>He's poking against your crotch.
>The tip is slipping between your folds.
>You're so wet right now he could probably get it all the way in with one thrust.
>The thought makes your wings twitch.
>But you can't manage to look away.
>His eyes. His smile.
>...
>You really do love him...

>He pushes, slowly entering you.
>Stopping every few seconds
>To let you get used to his size.
>You can see the hunger in his eyes.
>Every time he pushes further in you twitch and squirm.
>It feels so good.
>You're startled a little when you feel his hips press against your rump.
>You wink, and it brushes against his skin.
>OH.
>...
>And there's the maregasm.
>Master hasn't moved yet, he's just looking you in the eyes.
>And his smile...
>That's not master's normal smile.
>That's a predator's smile.
>...
>You start to wonder what you got yourself into, when master starts moving.
>Still slowly.
>But you're really sensitive.
>Even with the extra lubrication.
>Your rear hooves kick a little.
>And then back in.
>A little faster this time.
>He hilts again, and holds it until you wink.
>Your wings twitch.
>This is a bit more than you were prepared for.
>But you want to keep going.
>He does it again, a little faster.
>All the way out until only the tip is inside you.
>And all the way back in, until your bodies meet.
>And again.
>And again.
>Faster each time.
>You start to feel like you're at your limit.
>>
>>29401720

"Master! I- I'm..."
>He speeds up.
>And your world is filled with little sparkles.
>As you cum. Hard.

>Your insides are clenching down on him.
>He hasn't stopped.
>He hasn't even slowed down.
>He's nibbling on your wing.
>And you cum again.
>You start to lose track of time.
>You're so sensitive.
>And it's so hard.
>You can feel it poking against your insides.
>The thump thump thump as your bed hits the wall.
>And you cum again.
>It's going so deep.
>He's running his hoofspider through your mane.
>As the other one rubs the extra-sensitive fur between your wings.
>And you cum.
>Again.
>Your inner muscles are starting to get tired.
>You didn't know that could happen.
>You never want it to stop, but you don't think you can keep going.
>And he's going even faster.
>And then he starts growling.
>Like an animal.
>He holds you tight.
>His hoofspiders scratching you like claws.
>And he bites your neck.
>It's too much.
>Your back arches and your wings flap spastically.
>You cum harder than you ever have.
>It's so intense, it's almost painful.
>You lock down on him like a vice.
>Your vision is covered in sparks, like a million lightning strikes.
>At this point you know you're a twitching mess.
>And you can barely think.
>You start to lose focus, the edges of your vision turning black.
>All you can do is hold on to master as tight as you can, as he finishes inside you.
"I love you I love you I love you I love you I love you I love you I love yooooouuuuuu-"
>...
>It's so warm...
>...
>He kisses you.
>A long, deep, lover's kiss.
>"I love you too, Clear."

>It takes you a few seconds to realize you said that out loud.
>...
>That's okay.
>You're going to be saying it a lot more from now on.

Well, shit. I honestly didn't plan on ever writing lewds. Was just gonna make it super comfy. But I did this from start to finish in about three hours. As opposed to my two or three days for the previous parts. Boner too strong.

Pretty green thread today, huh?

Very different. Guessing "little" ponies weren't expecting that human D to be so big, if that's what it's doing to her... or to last so long. Lucky little slavemare found herself a good lover.

> Cadance sighs.
> "I think we'll start smaller - with something that ponies can appreciate in the moment, and understand what their work is earning them."
"The rec room, then."
> "Yes, Master. We'll put together a list of exactly what we want for it, but I actually think it'd be better if the actual construction and decoration was left to us."
"Build your own reward, take a bit of pride in it - makes sense."
> She smiles, but it doesn't reach her eyes.
> Mayor Mare's eyes flick between the two of you, and privately you wonder if the earth pony had been brought along because she was effectively the camp's second-in-command organizer or to keep Cadance in check.
> Perhaps both.
> "Is there... anything else?"
"No, Mayor. I think you had best finish your planning and then present me the full details. I'll have this worked on.
> "Understood, sir."
> "I'll go back and give the announcement, then."
> Cadance stands, and soon after Mayor Mare joins her.
> Both bow their heads in a suitable display of acquiescence, and you lightly wave.
"Alright. You're dismissed. I'll be looking forward to seeing what you come up with."
> All three ponies turn for the exit, Mocha Cream moving to see the other two out.
> Just as they reach the door, however, a thought pops into your mind.
> "Master, actually could I-"
"Cadance, why don't you-"
> The alicorn has spoken at the same moment you did.
> In the silence that follows, she turns back around - nudging the door shut with a flicker of her horn and returning to seat herself on her haunches in front of you.
"Well - you wished to speak, I think?"
> "Yes, Master."
> Head drooping, she pauses to find words before speaking.
> "I'd... I want to request that you reconsider your ruling on the 'museum', Master."
"Why."
> She hesitates, but forges ahead:
> "Ponies are scared, sir. Right now, they're afraid to speak freely."
>>
>>29402423

"What about your suggestions box?"
> "Even with that. Their input is still dependent on your approval. That's why there's been graffiti and vandalism in the camp - they feel like they can't speak openly, but have to speak. If you shut this down, you're only confirming your fares."
"So instead you suggest that I just go ahead and let them reignite the resistance by encouraging pining for a dead country."
> "With all due respect, sir... you don't know our culture."
> One of your eyebrows rises, but you do not interrupt her.
> "Equestria was built on harmony and friendship. Literally - the union of the three tribes brought it into existence. If you deny that, if you let disharmony and hatred slip in, it'll burn you just like it almost froze us. If you encourage us to forget it... I can be their leader, but not if they break apart. If hatred divides them, you lose too."
"Equestria was built on it, but it can exist without Equestria."
> "Not if you keep gagging us. Fear is driving them now - fear of forgetting their home, fear that they themselves will not be remembered when they pass... if you validate that fear, it'll only grow in them."
"I see what you're saying, Cadance... but look at things from my end: You're not asking me to accept unity and harmony among your ranks - by all means, push that if you want! You're asking me to promote the memory of a dead nation. A nation that doesn't exist anymore, but which'll be held up as something - 'better', whether or not it actually would be! Can you honestly say that if ponies are given that memory, they're not going to decide it's worth fighting for?"
> "We didn't fight in the past. We won by coming together in peace and working together."
> But Cadance is grasping at straws, and she knows it.
"To what end, though? There are ponies in that camp who are so eager to see me as the enemy that they'll twist talk of Equestria to act as if I personally took it away from you."
>>
>>29402435

> Head turning away with an expression of pain on her face, she takes a moment to answer.
> "Ponies are being hurt by this, Anonymous. Here. Now. If you don't give them something, they'll turn anyhow."
"If you can name me one pony who's-"
> "Mocha Cream."
> You pause.
> Hesitate.
> And Cadance sees the opening, immediately leaping at it.
> "She's young, Anonymous. She was barely into her life when she was taken... but even she wanted this. Not to rebel, but to have a place for the memories of the parents she was taken from, before they fade away entirely.
> Your finger taps lightly on an armrest.
> Mocha...
"That... was a low blow, Cadance."
> "It's the truth."
> The mare had found a bit of a spot in your heart, you must admit.
> It would be so easy to say yes.
> But...
"If I do that, Cadance, where do I set the line? Go ahead, remember Equestria - but don't talk about how you were taken? Because you know what some would-be Spartacus is going to make the leap from 'remembering' to 'trying to resurrect'. And it didn't end well for him either."
> From the expression she makes, you get the feeling Cadance doesn't quite know that reference.
> That's alright; your point is made.
"If I allow 'memorials', do I ban talking about how you were taken? The omission would be as pointed as if I just straight-up allowed it."
> "I..."
"Even for Mocha... so I let her talk about her parents, but what - she can't say anything about how she was separated from them? It's ridiculous. Infeasible."
> "At least give us something! Let us properly celebrate Hearth's Warming, put on a real pageant again-"
"A pageant celebrating how Equestria was founded?"
> "Celebrating ponies giving up fighting and actually giving the effort to work together!"
"Do you really think they'll see it that way? Hell, I'd half-expect to see me playing the villain!"
> "If you keep muzzling them, you always will be!"
>>
>>29402445

> Cadance flinches, eye closed and cheek turned in avoidance - a wing half-raised in a suppressed instinct to shield herself.
> ...when had your hand risen like that, palm open and ready to deliver a blow?
> When had you stood up?
> Deep breaths, Anonymous.
> Long, careful breaths.
> Hands clenching and unclenching, you force yourself back down into the seat.
> You wouldn't hit her.
> Not for this.
> Then you really would be the villain.
"I'm sorry, Cadance. Sometimes my anger... runs away on me."
> She, too, is only just relaxing.
> Wing folding back down, eye opening again, and head turning to look at you again.
> And, to your surprise, she does not hang back but instead rises to approach you until she is standing just in front of the chair - those large, liquid purpose eyes meeting yours.
> Showing she has no fear of you.
> "You stopped yourself, though. That's what matters."
> A small smile creeps onto your face.
"...yes. I did."
> "It is possible to stop anger once it's gotten started, Anonymous. You know it - you just showed it."
"You really want this, don't you?"
> Seeming to see what you are thinking, Cadance raises a hoof to gently set it on your knee.
> "Yes. Master... you want me to lead them because I'm an alicorn. Because they respect me. That's tied to old Equestria, though. If you make that tie vanish... I'm nothing but a sell-out to them. And they'd be right, too."
> Again your hand rises, this time to cup her cheek lightly and brush back through the light fuzz covering it.
> Every bit of logic you had said not to do this.
> That it could only end poorly.
> If you do give her this and it turns out badly, who knows where it will end?
> And yet, you could.
> Not give her any more money, but give permission for a... memorial of some kind.
> A chance.
> A trial.
> Would it really satisfy them?
> No.
> But it might help settle Mocha Cream's mind.

Yes for cultural purposes and ancient history. focused on harmony and working together to make the world a better place for every pony, no matter the race. (When where they enslaved? I mean if this is after changeling, dragon, and griffon reformation/alliance episodes, use those.)

Yes for a memorial spot for close friends or family's lost that never got a proper burial because they were never found.

No for historical figures that would inspire rebellion and chaos. If they pull a Discord, Anon won't be as forgiving as their princess of friendship.

Well, I was in the no museum group. But Cadence convinced me.

Start out small. A memorial to their homeland, and all the family and friends they've lost. Something simple, but symbolic. If it makes an impact on them like Cadence says it will, consider an actual museum.

Maybe as a small two or three rooms attached to the rec center. We've already seen that there's at least some access to Equestrian art, and maybe some of the camp would like to contribute the rest. There must be artists and sculptors and writers somewhere in the camp.

But, Cadence is going to have to work harder calming the rebellion. Sunburst's thing can't be the only resistance. I'm sure there'll be someone who takes it the wrong way, and that needs to be dealt with before things get out of control. Some ponies hate Anon enough that even a gesture of goodwill will be seen as an insult.

And even then, it's worth it just to make Mocha happy.

To the demon the centers of recreation, the trips and the free days! As that they serve all that if your heart and soul live caught as through this one your body?

Give them his Museum, give them his festivity, give them his small piece of Equestria. That for this time Anon is the villain for some (?) ponies. For Mocha you will be their hero.

PD: If you grant to him Candance that Flurry takes part in the Hearth's Warming and learns that more of his culture you will reinforce his loyalty towards you and the appreciation of his mother, damn.. you even should take Megan so that it is known a little more of those that one day will direct

Yes, we do give them the museum. With stress on how Equestria was made by uniting the three tribes, and without that unity Equestria wouldn't exist. Stress how unity and peace are a means by which ponies can improve their situations right now, just like they did back then.

Part of me still thinks maybe it's a risky idea, though. However, if word gets out that they'll be getting a museum, ponies may change their extreme dislike for Anon into something more even keeled and perhaps gain some respect for him.

>anon is at a crossroads where he has to either accept that slavery is wrong or he must make war with the ponies. he wants them for work, not for amusement, so they aren't broken to him, but he doesn't understand that this means ponies will want to be free again. for his idea to have ever worked in the first place, a bunch of ponies choosing to live and cooperate with him, he must understand that for that to exist they need more than his money management skills and rulership. they need to make this place their home again. The only choice from here forward is as follows. do you, anon, change, do you help them make equestria from the ashes, if not in reality then in spirit? or do you insist that they are slaves and must obey you, that they cannot reach for what they wish in the future? Ponies will raise mountains in harmony working together to build a place where slavery is nothing more than a technicality. Anon could rechristen his enterprise as equestria or some other branding, and point his charges in the direction of financial solevancy to increase their living standard and numbers. All he has to do is give up a slice of his pie.

He is at the point now where he can, he owns his buisness, not a board of asshole stockholders. for this to work, he has to give up some of that pie to those who truly deserve it, who lost everything and need something more than just their necessities to subsist.

If he chooses not to do this, there will only be war, violence will be the only recourse. weather violence of the mind or body, the ponies are not obedient because they have accepted slavery. and untill they all have accepted slavery, they will continue to hope for what they can't have. that slavery is to deny the building of this museum. If he will not accept the facts of his surroundings, the unhappy ponies in bondage. the only option remaining is to make them happy in bondage. and unfortunately, the only way forward is wickedness

Anon must respect the ponies grieving process for what they have lost before they can move on into the future he plans for them. The steps cannot be skipped, but they can be managed! Academia has a way of leaching the passion out of things while preserving their essence. Instead of fighting this, Anon should bring in professional historians (perhaps even locate a qualified pony) to put Equestrian History under glass, where it will be safe but irrelevant. It's origins in trust and friendship, long golden age, and his slaves personal memories of it's bitter fall can all be dispassionately recorded for future generations. His own mistakes are already acknowledged and the past is the past; there is no need for any censorship or shame. He is already doing this himself, displaying Cadances old regalia and other treasures, does he now want to hide them away?
Also, they all have a duty to the future. Surprised those professional historians aren't already beating down his door if they're worthy of the title.

>If I allow 'memorials', do I ban talking about how you were taken?
Is that banned already? Is there actually a rule in the camp, "No talking about how you were taken"? Because that might be difficult even for one of the more rigorously controlled labour camps to enforce. Anons ideas about submission and assimilation into human culture have some merit, but this level of censorship is just getting silly.
And I want to hear how they were taken too; don't censor me, Slaveventure!

To The hell the centers of recreation, the trips and the free days! What good are all that if your heart and soul live prisoners too?

Give them his Museum, give them his festivity, give them his small piece of Equestria. That for this time Anon is the villain for someponies.
For Mocha you will be his hero.

PS: If you let Flurry take part in the Warm Hearts party and learn more about their culture, you will reinforce their loyalty and love to you and the Candance appreciation

I can't think of anything else to make this more degrading and humiliating for the ponies, but I believe in you /spg/. Let's give them what they asked for and make them regret it.
>>
>>29403295
The purpose of all this is to give the ponies a little freedom, not to rub in their faces their slave condition
>>

I thought it was because they were worried their culture was going to be forgotten. It'll be remembered, but nobody said we had to respect it.

I think that is the point Anon is making: He can ban a big memorial in the first place, but he can't possibly stop ponies from including a big public reminder of how they were captured and enslaved if he does allow it. That's exactly why he was hesitant to allow it in the first place.

Equestria's dead, mate. They can kill me all they want, it won't bring it back. And if we start now by tossing them a bone here and there, it won't be long until they're asking for something more. And eventually, we'll reach the limit of what we can provide.

We need to find a balance here, and I think a memorial is too extreme in one direction. We need to preserve their culture, I agree, but if we go too far things will end badly.

Ooooh. I'm so glad there is a shot of this happening after all. I definitely want it from Cadance's perspective.

>>29402701

>>29403065
>>29403077
I agree with these posts the most. Have Anonymous provide the okay for making the museum (I like the idea as including as part of the rec-center as well), but with something small. Start off for cultural purposes, teaching values of harmony and friendship that founded the nation and details on its history (highlight the importance of alicorns so they know to respect Cadance and eventually Flurry Heart more). Remember Equestria, and I'd go so far as to respect it, but not celebrate it.

And of course allow for memorials to be made for those ponies wish to remember if they fear forgetting them. If Corona gets one though they'll have to be careful for it to be tasteful.

But not anything that can inspire rebellion. Cadance will have to keep a close eye on ponies and if this doesn't make ponies feel more at peace with Anon, but instead does only make them fight harder to obtain something they'd lost, you'll have to bring down the hammer hard on it.
>>
>>29403968

I'm the anon from before who was thinking about starting another CYOA. Constructive criticism welcome, I guess.

>You are Anon.
>You're a pretty decent black mage, if you do say so yourself.
>Which you'd have to .
>...You have no friends.
>Which is part of the reason you're in the city ofAdeakin.
>You need to carry all of your gear, which is starting to get you hurt.
>Yeah, one or two furs, a book or two, and your food are pretty light.
>But you need thirteen or fourteen furs for a decent profit and they're starting to slow you down.
>So you're here to buy a pack horse.
>You don't have very much money, but you saved a lot by getting a cheap room at the inn.
>By cheap room you mean a horse stall for ten gold.
>Normally a room would cost you fifty gold, but the innkeeper felt bad they were out of rooms.
>Something about officials coming from Adraych and a festival to celebrate?
>He certainly didn't pity you enough to let you sleep in the stall for free...
>At the moment you're walking through the market, realizing two things.
>Firstly, not a lot of people sell horses.
>Secondly, those that do charge a lot of gold.
>The first place you checked had a minimum price of over a thousand for just a horse.
>The second place didn't have set prices but asked how much you had to spend.
>He laughed at you when you said you had 860 gold.
>So now you're wandering the streets, looking for lunch.
>"Hey! You! The black mage!"
>Not seeing anyone else dressed in blue robes and huge hat, you figure he's trying to get your attention.
>Turning your head, you see a greasy looking man in the characteristic robes of a black mage, without any hat.
>You remain silent as he runs up to you, panting from the exertion.
>Straightening his robes, he begins to speak
>"A friend of mine said you were in the market for a pack horse?"
"Yeah. Your friends' prices are a little high for me though."
>"Don't worry about that, how about a pack pony?"
>>
>If this guy is selling ponies, they might be a little cheaper than a full grown horse...
>Doesn't mean you should let him know how much you need something to carry your stuff, though.
"Depends. How much can it carry? I need it to be able to carry a decent amount."
>You really don't, just a couple of books and furs.
>Not fighting bandits with thirteen furs strapped to your back is something you look forward to.
>"Oh plenty! Follow me and I'll show her to you."
>He starts moving before you can even respond
>"I never caught your name, I'm Issac"
>He sticks out his hand as you walk through the streets, a little awkwardly as you both move through the typical marketplace crowds
"I'm Anon."
>You shake his hand firmly as he leads you into the residential district
"Your friend sent you to find me, without giving you my name?"
>"He's pretty forgetful, you know? He remembers the names of his horses better than his friends"
>He gives an awkward laugh and stops suddenly.
>"Well, we're here"
>In an exaggerated gesture, he swings his robed arms and points to a small thatch house
>...It actually looks like the worst house on this street
>"It's not much, but it's mine! Want to take a look at the pony now?"
"Yeah, wouldn't want to have made this trip for nothing, would I?"
>Honestly, this house looks a little run down.
>Your worries about entering his house are evidently unjustified, as he walks directly behind it.
>As he rounds the corner, he calls back to you
>"I've got a stable for the animals back here, if you'll just follow me"
>Without responding, you continue until you see what is basically a thatch roof and six or seven high fences that you assume constitute 'stalls'.
>With another exaggerated wave of his robes, Issac motions to a chained up purple...unicorn?
"This...is not a pony"
>>
>"W-well she's just as good as a normal pony! She's not even a real unicorn, no magic or anything!"
"Look, that's not the problem here. This is a fucking unicorn, why are you trying to sell me this?"
>Unicorns were insanely rare and in the south it's frowned upon to touch them, let alone sell them.
>Although, unicorns or their parts can be sold up north for obscene prices.
>"It's not even a real unicorn! It's u-um a magical experiment!"
>Suddenly his back straightens, but looks at you guiltily
>"You caught me, this has something to do with magical experiments, okay?"
>He begins to grin
>"I'll give you a low price for her though."
>You're poor, but are you suspicious-wannabe-insane-mage-unicorn-salesman poor?
>...You honestly might be
"Let me get a look at her before I commit to anything, alright?"
>He slams his palm into his forehead.
>"Of course! Of course!"
>He calms down and looks back at you, smiling once again.
>"Look for as long as you want!"
>Ignoring Issac's borderline insanity, you take a closer look at the unicorn.
>Her coat and horn are a light purple, with her mane a darker purple, with stripes of pink and indigo.
>On both of her flanks there's a pink star with small white stars surrounding it.
>There's an unfamiliar glyph branded on her left flank, in stark contrast to her otherwise normal coat.
>She stares into space though, which contradicts the stories you'd heard, of unicorns with almost human-like intelligence.
>Other than the sort of creepy silence in the air and the blank stare of the pony, everything looks okay to you.
>She does look strong enough to carry your books and furs, probably even more than that.
>Perhaps sensing you were done examining the goods, Issac begins to smile again.
>"So I was thinking I could let her go for about 800 gold?"

What the fuck is this thing? For all we know, this pony could be a walking time bomb ready to explode into a smelly goo within the hour. That price is going to need to drop hard if we're going to make an investment this shaky.

Also, nice start.
>>
>>29408163
Important question first:
What the fuck is the value of a gold?
We can't make informed decisions if we don't even know the actual value of the currency we are using.
>>
>>29408163
Not just too much for his creepy science experiment, but he's awfully eager to be rid of this thing. It's a fair bet that someone's after him about something, and we can get on his back to negotiate a better price.

...also, for context, how close are we relative "the north" or "the south"? Are we going to get crucified or jumped for our unicorn if we travel a few towns in either direction?
>>
>>29408388
Well, the room of an inn is 50 gold for a single night. Presuming that's twice the cost for long-term rent, it's probably about a month's rent.

Depending on the availability of gold to sustain the value of the coin, I can only assume that the currency itself is not entirely gold, but also has nickel or lead alloy to support its weight if it were entirely gold, it would be more Logical that there would be other currencies like silver or copper to maintain some economic stability

>With the tribal rebels in the south attacking any cities allied with Adrachian empire, most cities have enforced curfews.
>You don't know much about the southern tribes, just that they practice white magic, worship unicorns, and hate Adrachians.
>Thanks to them, hunters in the east and west have been recalled to Adraych to serve in their army.
>So, less competition for you.
>Honestly, you'd like to learn some of that white magic, but they don't teach it to outsiders and half of the white mages are supposedly eunuchs.
>Red mages haven't been around for years either
>So no white magic for you
>Suddenly, you notice you're back at the inn.
>Or rather, the inn's stables.
>Echoes of your father yelling at you for getting lost in your thoughts run through your head, but are quickly dismissed.
>Last you heard, he went way past Pinestall.
>Which is the farthest south you can go without being attacked, about five or six towns from Adeakin.
>You shake your head in annoyance
>The irony isn't lost on you, though.
>Getting lost in your thoughts about being lost in your thoughts.
>Realizing this is going nowhere, you navigate to the stall the innkeeper gave you.
>Opening it, you grab the thick woolen blanket that the innkeeper probably left for you.
>As you settle down with a book, you notice Star is just standing by the stall door.
>She stares blankly into the darkening sky.
>It's a little early so you read for a few hours, a spellbook about status affliction spell.
>They were surprising useful in hunting.
>After a while you light a candle and realize you'd forgotten something.
>Glancing up again, you see Star still standing there.
>Staring.

>>Order her to get under the blanket with you, it's pretty chilly out.
>>Go look for the innkeeper to find another blanket, she doesn't need to share yours.
>>Let her do what she wants, she'd do something if she were uncomfortable.
>>
>>29411497
And that's all for now. Although I made a pastebin and forgot to post a link before:
http://pastebin.com/u/ReebAnon
>>
>>29411497
Tell her to get in the stall and lay next to you.
No need for sharing blanket, she got coat and can get a bit of bodyheat from leaning against you.
If she starts to shiver next to you, you will notice.
Also, doesnt she look like in some kind of daze? Investigate it?

Interesting green, dont drop it.
>>

>>Order her to get under the blanket with you, it's pretty chilly out.

Order her to ge under the blanket with you. Also, talk to her and ask her some questions to break the ice. She seems really broken.

>>Order her to get under the blanket with you, it's pretty chilly out.

She doesn't seem dangerous, that's for sure. Just don't boner the poner.

This. We've already had enough pr0n with Clear Skies, maybe next thread. Then cast "reveal magic" or something and find out what the fuck.
>>
>>29412086
>"reveal magic"
In case it wasn't clear, Anon is a black mage . You'll see his spells but black mages use destructive magic, "reveal magic" would be white magic. Sorry about the confusion.

>>29411559
>don't drop it
Thanks, I'll try not to.
>>
>>29412133
Started reading it. Maybe it's because I'm a /tg/fag and have grown to be paranoid, but if Anon can into magic, the first thing I would do was check for any illusionary magic attached to a god damn purple unicorn. Just seems odd to me that he'd just look.

I like it though, continue.

>>Order her to get under the blanket with you, it's pretty chilly out.
If not for her, than for you if it's that cold.
>>
>>29412161
If it does bother you then you can look at it two ways, slight spoiler warning I guess?
1)In case you hadn't noticed by Anon's world building tangents and the fact he just noticed it was evening, he's rather absentminded. He doesn't notice things unless he's really looking for them. He's really just a hunter who fights bandits on occasion.
2)We'd have less of a story if he performed full magical checks.
>>
page 9 wtf gaiz
>>
>>29412751
Especially when we have two new writers and more green than I've seen in a while.
>>
>>29412234
I don't know, I'd think he'd really look at something he was about to drop most of his savings on. What I mean is casting some kind of detect magic spell though. Just to see if it was some illusion on a random animal that would fade within an hour of purchase. I also don't think there would be less of a story if Anon thought to double check things before screwing himself over, especially in the future.
>>
>>29412875
I mean, I know this is sort of a knock on my writing, but I feel pretty happy that somebody is thinking about what I wrote. If you want illusion detection to be Anon's next course of action, sure that can happen.

And in terms of less of a story, I suppose you're right. If Anon detected all magic cast on her then, it might not quite go in the general direction I'd planned for.
>>
>>29413158
>I mean, I know this is sort of a knock on my writing.
It's not, just making discussion trying to wrap my head around a "pretty decent black mage" that doesn't double check things when offered a weird deal by a shady man. I do like it though.
>>
>>29411497
That unicorn's definitely no good on her own, and we don't need to be paying the innkeeper for another blanket (let alone tipping them off we bought a fucking unicorn).

Have her lay down close, but don't necessarily cuddle up just yet. Also pet her a little - just gentle touches, see how she reacts.

Stay By Me by Anon

>The two of you are sitting in silence.
>You want to say something to cheer her up, but it almost seems inappropriate to even try
>but from the look of it, the blonde haired pony seated on the other side of the bars looks like she’s about to break down
>shivering, lines of tears on her face

>you all knew what happened as soon as the side of the building collapsed.
>luckily, nopony else was there, but the damage was significant
>That was more than a full day’s work wasted, and a lot of materials wasted, too
>And when you saw the dust cloud settle and the pony responsible for all of the destruction emerge, you and other ponies had groaned

>but this wasn’t the Ponyville town hall.
>This wasn’t Equestria
>This was a camp
>you were all slaves

>and your Master was already an impatient man.

>once the gravity of the situation hit you, your heart broke.
>Derpy’s crooked eyes, when she looked at you from where the collapsed building lay, they had been so filled with fear that it made you dizzy thinking about it
>>
>>29413760
>you already offered to take Derpy’s punishment for her
>but your Master was not one for vicarious punishments.
>“Whatever pony commits the crime, gets the punishment,” he told you.
>The coldness in his voice gave you an icy chill.
>you had continued to plead, but he heard none of it.

>Now, here you are, the day of the scheduled punishment.
>Derpy sits behind the bars of her holding cell
>head low, ears pinned back, and tail curling around her body for protection.
>She’s frozen to the spot, and you can see her ribs rising and falling

>Derpy’s voice was low, whispered, the low volume the only thing keeping her from breaking completely down
>“I-I’m s-s-scared, Doctor…”

>Such a simple statement.
>But it hit you in the gut like a thrown brick.
>You close your eyes, lip quivering and tears forming
>It wasn’t fair.
>She didn’t mean to be clumsy, forgetful
>She was so sweet and kind, and loving to all

“I know, I know, Derpy, I’m… I tried to take the whipping for you, but he told me no. I tried, so hard…”
>>
>>29413766
>Derpy looks up at you, and her crooked eyes actually manage to straighten enough for both of them to look at you
>She gasps, and her mouth opens up
>She shakes her head adamantly, and sobs

>“No! No, no, don’t… I would never! I would never do that to you!”

>You’re shocked by the raised tone in her voice
>It came so boldly, so unexpectedly that you flinch backward
>Derpy hangs her head, and slides down to the floor, crying softly into her hooves, wings unfurling defeatedly

>You feel short of breath
>Seeing Derpy cry was already enough to break your heart
>but the thought of watching her be whipped made your stomach do flips

>Derpy crawled forward over the cold floor, and reached her hoof through the bars
>She gazed up at you with her bleary eyes

>“Don’t leave… don’t go, Doctor, s-stay here with me until… until…”

>You don’t hesitate to grab hold of her hoof
>You squeeze it tight, and clasp your other hoof around it
>it feels so cold…

“I won’t go, Derpy. I would never even dream of leaving now, my dear. Never.”
>>
>>29413783
>Derpy sobs, and slides even closer to the bars, pressing her face up against them
>She fits more of her fore leg through and squeezes your hoof back
>Her eyes, trying so hard to focus solely on you, stare back at you gratefully
>You give her a simpering smile, trying to bring her just a little bit of warmth to this icy air

“We’re here, Derpy. We’re going to be here for you when this is over. We all love you, and I… I... I love you.”

>Your heart seizes up momentarily as your confession slips out
>But in the face of Derpy’s fear, you suddenly find courage swelling inside of you
>courage for her sake

>Derpy breathes in sharply
>her mouth gapes open
>You can feel her shivering stop for a moment as you caress her hoof

>She’s silent, but the corners of her mouth begin to turn upward
>And for a second you see her smile
>Her eyes flutter closed, and she sticks her nose through the bars as far she can go, trying so hard to get close to you
>You feel her snout touch your hoof through the bars, and the pleasantly warm air touches your fetlocks

“I love you, too…”

CREEAAK WHUMP!

The heavy, metal door behind you both swings open, and collides with the wall
>You both jump, and you turn your head around

>The man standing in the doorway looks down at you with a neutral expression
>he points to Derpy, and holds up a ring of keys
>She shrinks away, and clasps your hooves for dear life as she sinks into the floor

>“It’s time to bring her out.”

>>Order her to get under the blanket with you, it's pretty chilly out.

>It's pretty chilly out, so it's really for both your both your sakes at this point.
"Star, come sit over here."
>Just like when you asked her to follow, she responds without hesitation.
>She sits next to you as you lay down on your chest.
>You pull the blanket over your back, covering Star as well.
>You turn to see how she's doing, and are greet with yet another blank stare.
"Star? Star?"
>You try speaking to her but get the same blank stare in response.
"I know unicorns are smart, there's no reason to be so quiet."
>No response
>Almost every unicorn you've ever heard of can understand common, some can even communicate back.
>Maybe it's because she's Issac's experiment or something?
>Maybe she just has the intelligence of a normal pony?
>Then again, she has made a single noise as long as you've had her.
>So, there are three options here:
>First: She's smart enough to have a reason not to talk.
>Second: She's stupid or this is the result of Issac's meddling.
>Third: This isn't a unicorn.
>Honestly, none of those options are too terrible, but you might as well figure out what's going on here
>Reaching your right arm towards your bag, you feel around for a particular scroll
>Draping your left arm around her withers, you feel her shiver.
>Finding what you're looking for, you pull out a Sight scroll.
>>
>>29414098

>Normally you'd use this if you couldn't find any prey, but it has other uses as well.
>Quietly chanting the words off the scroll, your vision begins to change.
>The world becomes wreathed in the blue light of mana.
>If you really focus you can see other things too, but for now you're just worried about Star.
>Her stare is now lit up by the mana as well.
>Looking directly at her, you see a flow of mana between the ring on your right hand and the brand on her flank.
>From the brand, it flows along the rest of her body to her head.
>That's how the ring works, you suppose.
>There's normal mana flow as well, centered mostly around her horn.
>Other than that, you can't make out too much.
>This damn spell always gave you a headache.
>Closing your eyes for a moment, you think.
>She's definitely a unicorn, but she can't be too stupid.
>Mana creation, (in humans, at least) is connected to intelligence.
>In unicorns, you have no idea.
>Hers was certainly above the human average, though.
>Sighing, you figure this can wait until morning.
>Pulling her closer with one hand, putting the candle out with the other, you lay your head against your bag in an effort to fall asleep.
>Surprisingly, sleep comes easily to the both of you.
>>
>When you wake up, it appears to be about noon.
>Star is already up and staring
>Feeling annoyed, you take your index finger and press lightly against her nose.
>Her muzzle suddenly scrunches as she tries to stare at your finger.
>She looks back at you, almost annoyed.
>You let out a quick chuckle
"Have anything to say to that?"
>After a few seconds her stare slowly goes back to its usual blank state.
"Fine. I can play the long game."
>No response except for a low growl.
>Wait.
>That was your stomach.

>>Do you want to put Star's bridle on and get on the road, eating later and avoiding the afternoon rush of travelers?
>>Same as option one, but you don't need to put her bridle on. The city guard is usually pretty lax and Star hasn't disobeyed an order. No real need for a bridle.

>>
>>29414119
Put Stars bridle on and hit the road.
You have to carry it somewhere, what better place than on her noggin, where it belongs? Also there might be something weird or magical about it, might as well find out now. Also muh bondage / tack fetish.
>>
>>29414209
Seconding this, for similar reasons.
>>
>>29414119
First option : Out as soon as possible and with a bridle.

Unicorns are rare, we want to avoid too many people knowing we have one. And even if the guard is lax, we want to avoid him being in a bad mood today and causing a scene. Just buy whatever supply we need normally, plus a bag of unicorn chow or whatever and a sturdy pair of saddlebags.

We can always un-bridle Star after we get out the city, and then try to explore what's wrong with her when we will be in a more secluded space.

"Alright, Cadance."
> Resting your elbows on your thighs, you cup your face in both hands and massage your eyes.
"I didn't plan on this and frankly I have a suspicion I'm going to deeply regret it. But you've sold me on trying it."
> Practically exuding joy, she dips her head into a bow that can't quite hide the smile forming on her face or the sparkle in her eyes.
> "Thank you, Anonymous! Thank you!"
> You're unable to resist her infectious happiness, and reach out to give her a little scratch behind one ear.
"You'd better understand what you're asking for here, Cadance."
> "I do. I think this really will help everypony trust in you - work with you, not against you."
"I hope so."
> Slipping your hand under her chin, you tilt her head back up to face you:
"Because I want to make this abundantly clear: If this goes bad, it will be on your head. You will be responsible for tearing it down, and you will be responsible for any disorder that comes out of this. So I hope you're really sure of this."
> "I am."
"Then you've my permission to try a 'museum', a 'memorial'. Just remember, though - I don't want to see anything that could actually drive rebellion. You're welcome to preserve Equestria's history... but be careful."
> "Yes, Master."
> Her voice is little more than a murmur, yet you can still hear the joy in it.
"Cadance."
> Lifting both hands, you cup her cheeks again - locking her in to facing you.
"I mean it, Cadance. No matter how cruel it seems, my primary concern here making sure there's no need for any punishment. Not for you to punish some other pony who gets out of line, and certainly not for me to punish you."
> A wing extends forward, curving around to gently rest the tips of a few feathers over your hand.
> "I know. But please, consider how this looks for us-"
"That's why I'm allowing you to try it, Cadance."
> Her smile spreads ever so slightly further before she pulls away.
> "If I can be excused, then?"
>>
>>29418887

"Go ahead and tell Mayor Mare too. Split the funds between the rec room and 'memorial' as you see fit."
> You smile softly as Cadance's tail vanishes through the doorway, though it fades with time.
> God, you hoped you wouldn't regret this.

> "Hey, Thunderlane?"
"What's up, Seismic?"
> "There's a stallion watching us. Uh, third building on the left, up on the roof."
> Following his eyes, you find a familiar horned head watching you from the top of a nearby building.
"Ah, that's Granite."
> Raising a wing in greeting yields a bob of the distant stallion's head.
> "Y'know him?"
"Yeah. Was in the Guard back in Equestria, seems to feel pretty strongly about the princess."
> Almost conspiratorially, you lean in towards the big Earth Pony who walks alongside you.
"Truth be told, I've been angling to get him on the security team if I can. He's a good pony."
> "And we can always use another competent unicorn."
"Heh, yeah."
> Your laugh is meant to be easy, but comes out forced.
> Granite rolls his eyes, nostrils flaring as he snorts.
> "Don't tell me you're not thinking it, Thunderlane. With the way things are heading up now..."
"...yeah, I know."
> Drooping slightly as you walk on, you nod.
> "I respect the Princess for what she's trying to do, but she's got to be ready for the idea that it might eventually come to needing more guards."
"Hey, don't get started on her. More and more ponies have been coming out in her favor since she started accepting ideas for the rec room and memorial!"
> "More graffiti, too."
> Eyeing you sideways even as he keeps his head pointed forward, Seismic Shift pauses before adding more softly:
> "And you're awful quick to jump to defend her. Thunderlane. Careful you don't come off as biased in her favor; that could come off as a whole new line of problems."
"She did kind of convince me to do this in the first place."
> "Still. If you're seen as just enforcing her rules-"
"Yeah, I get it."
> Grimacing, you nod.
>>
>>29418894

"I just... don't want to see it come to another open rebellion. I don't want anypony else to go through what I did. I am on her side about that."
> "Hah."
> You hold your silence for a long while after that, mind roiling in quiet turmoil.
> There was, of course, the other reason you were so keen to see Cadance's plan succeed:
> Despite the agreement you'd clearly made with Anonymous, you hadn't revealed Sunburst's scheme to him yet.
> Why?
> That's hard to say.
> Maybe you were privately hoping it would never come to pass, that everypony could find some measure of happiness even in this miserable bondage.
> ...or maybe you were a coward, running from the reality of your duty.
> "Hey! Hey, Thunderlane!"
> As if fate just happened to know what was on your mind, a familiar voice turns your ear.
> Trotting towards you was Vapor Trail - a bit heavier on her hooves, the pregnancy finally beginning to show itself in her belly.
"Hey, Vapor."
> Smiling - thinly, but still a smile - you call a halt to your march as she reaches you.
> "I wanted to ask - did you donate that big Wonderbolts Academy poster for the memorial? I asked and somepony said you did-"
"Yeeesss? Its not original though; I repainted it from memory and I'm not really that good of an artist."
> "It's great!"
> She smiles widely, eyes sparkling.
"Really? I just made it for my quarters originally - something from home..."
> "I was so surprised to see it, and - and it made me real sad at first. But then I thought, the Wonderbolts were always about inspiring ponies, right? So actually, I think it's really nice to have a reminder of what we can be inspired to be."
"I... you're welcome?"
> Laughter - light and flowing - as she shakes her head.
> "It's not just me thanking you, Thunderlane. Everypony will."
> Leaning in, she brushes her cheek along yours - nuzzling you gently.
> "I'm glad I listened to you when you came to look out for me."
"...I, ah..."
>>
>>29418897

> Still smiling, she turns and trots off with a wave.
> You aren't quite sure of what to make of that for a few moments.
> Then Seismic snickers.
> " 'Laney's got a mare friend..."
> Rolling your eyes at his singsong taunt, you roll your eyes deeply.
"Shove it, Seismic. What are you, sixteen again?"
> He does indeed quiet down, although you can still feel the stallion smirking even when you aren't looking at him.
"...fine. She's nice, alright? But I don't know if I'd call her my marefriend, exactly..."
> "Eh?"
"We've both got... pasts. With other ponies. I mean, hers is obvious, but I miss Cloudchaser too..."
> "No shame in it, Thunderlane. There are plenty of us here who've lost special someponies. And I'd say she's pretty open to you."
"Are you seriously giving me dating advice?"
> "I'm just saying, don't just reject something without a thought. You never know who you can find something with."
"I guess."
> He doesn't realize the other reason for your hesitation.
> Sooner or later, Vapor Trail's hopes of escape with her child would be dashed.
> What would happen when they were?
> Again your thoughts wander back to Sunburst's scheme.
> If Anonymous found out about that from anypony else, or even one of the human guards...
> Well, you doubted there would be any chance for them to use it to help Vapor Trail.
> Then again, if he heard it from you he might demand you root out and turn in the plotters anyhow.
"Hey, Seismic?"
> "Yeah?"
> Were you really going to ask him about this?
> Have to be careful...
"If... you found out about somepony doing something stupid, but you thought there was a chance they'd be better off if you let them be instead of turning them in... would you?"
> In the following silence, you can all but feel sweat trickling down your neck despite the chill winter air.
> "Is this a something theoretically stupid, or...?"
"In all honesty... no. Not entirely theoretical."
> "Is it Vapor Trail?"
> Despite his gentle tone you nearly stumble.

"Celestia above, no! She's been alright since Cadance, Anonymous, and I talked to her."
> "Somepony I know?"
"I don't really think so."
> "Anypony else going to get hurt?"
"Don't know. It's a risk. If I turn them in, someponies definitely will."
> "Hmmm."
> The Earth stallion's grunt gives you pause.
> "I... you're gonna have to make that call, Thunderlane. But remember: Ultimately, we all agreed to be guards so we could do the dirty work and Anonymous' guards wouldn't have to."
"Yeah. I just don't want to break that trust ponies have in us."
> "It's not an easy thing."
"You don't know the half of it."
> "Don't be so sure."
> Tilting your head and blinking you pause.
"...what's that mean?"
> "Just... there're things I'm struggling to tell about too."
"Anypony going to get hurt?"
> In a change from when he'd asked the question, Seismic shakes his head - shaggy mane flopping.
> "No. S'just... trust. Like you said. Trust. It's lonely enough in this job when they still do trust you."
> For a second a bolt of fear runs through your heart.
> He couldn't know about your betrayal... could he?
> No.
> Seismic isn't watching you for a response.
> You're in the safe...
> ...are you?
> Sooner or later, you were going to have to make a call on whether to cue Anonymous to the slumbering escape plan.
> Because Celestia herself wouldn't be able to save you - or Rumble - if he found out you were hiding something from him.

No proper choice as of yet. There will be another writing section to let things develop a bit more first!

If Thunderlane reveals the plan... fuck him.

That isn't just some podunk nothingburger plan to get outside the fence. It's absolutely ingenious, and there's no reason to report it while the plan slumbers and things are getting significantly better.

Also, THUNDER. THIS IS VAPOR TRAIL WE'RE TALKING ABOUT HERE. THE SWEETEST QT EVER. Don't you dare throw her under the bus, good sir!
>>
>>29418908
Yeah, this news will not bode well and Cadance will be the one to blame. He should keep him mouth shut about openly telling Anon something for no reason too and never bring this up with another pony again.

>>29419041
I don't know, man. He promised her he wasn't trying to get the V, at least give her some more time.
>>
>>29419080
It's not about "getting the V", it's about being open minded to her. She's highly appreciative of him and his help when she was in a very dark place. It's a scary new environment for her, but Thunderlane went out of his way to help her out anyway, on his own time. I could see why she would want to share some affection with him.
>>
>>29413794
Really flog her hard. Carelessness cannot be tolerated, and she will have to learn her lesson.
>>
>>29418897
Vapor Trail is qt, qt!!

>>29418897
Remember when Anon practically planned to adopt the Vapor Trail baby to prevent her from having an abortion? I wonder what she thinks of him now?
>>
>>29419477
Kiss her tenderly, Thunder!
>>
>>29419243
I know but will she see it that way? She was really pensive when Thunder first asked to look out for her. Now she's just starting to show signs of pregnancy and open up more.

Relatively quick update tonight.

>>Put Star's bridle on and leave the city
>Despite your hunger, you suspect it would be best to leave now.
>That way you can avoid the bulk of the inevitable rush of travelers later on.
>You gotta just try to avoid thinking about a warm inn-made breakfast.
>You move around the stall, gathering your belongings, when you see Star's bridle.
>Remembering Issac's advice on the matter, you call Star over.
>Wouldn't be much point to trying to leave the city quickly if you got held up by the guard.
>First, you attempt to place the bit in her mouth.
>She opens her mouth to accept the bit without your prompting.
>Next you slide the straps over Star's head, with her horn in between what you think is the brow band and crown.
>You adjust the slightly tangled reins, making sure they're in the right position.
>Throughout the whole process she gives no indications of discomfort, no indications of anything, really.
>It does worry you, but she does listen to you and it wasn't a joke when you said you were willing to play the long game.
>Tightening the bridle until it appears to rest comfortably, you take Star's reins and strap your pack to her side.
>At least, you assume it's comfortable.
>Her silence isn't really a great indicator of her emotional state.
>In less depressing thoughts, you should be able to carry a lot more furs now.
>Before, you could really only carry a max of ten safely.
>Any more and you were slowed down by your equipment too much.
>Yeah, you could handle a few hits from bandits.
>Potions aren't cheap, though.
>Sadly, a lot of furs are pretty cheap.
>Still better than selling yourself as a mercenary or something.
>You'd make five times as much, you haven't heard great things about southern POW camps.
>Probably because they don't exist due to the fact those tribals leave no survivors.
>Well, that got dark real quick.
>You just said you were going to think about something less depressing, too.
>>
>>29420774.
>Deciding to look around for a minute, you see a few people are giving you second glances, but no one is outright staring.
>People in the city have probably seen weirder anyway, a purple unicorn isn't as weird as some of the stuff you've seen
>Actually you aren't sure.
>Is a rabid five-legged racoon weirder than a purple unicorn?
>Probably doesn't matter and you just reached the west gate.
>A guard in plate armor stands on either side of the gate, checking everyone's papers.
>After about a minute you reach the guard on your left.
>"Papers, please?"
>You silently fork them over to the guard.
>"Mage guild, Okay. freelance work, Okay. Trading license is still good. You got papers for that thing?"
>He points his gauntlet-clad finger at Star
>She turns and stares at him, actually looking a little annoyed.
"What? I need papers for her?"
>"Well, I figure you do. You're selling that thing up north, right? You'll need a license for that."
"No. She's my pack horse. I'm not planning on selling her."
>The guard sighs.
>"I'll let you pass cause I don't really got a case against you. Just try to have some papers for that thing, with the mess going on down south and all"
"Thanks."
>You take you papers back and give him a smile as you walk away.
>You never understood why guards always said they didn't want trouble, while doing things like that.
>Well, whatever.
>It's good to know the forged guild pass worked.
>You haven't paid the guild tax in ages.
>The trading license is real, though.
>Things are cheap anyway.
>>
>>29420782
>Although, now that you think of it...
>The guard might have a point, although you couldn't sell her in the north.
>You could get a pretty penny for her in Pinestall.
>Or they could just kill you.
>Probably just kill you.
>You should probably just stick to hunting.

>>Go hunt deer in the forests to the west. Less profitable, but safer than hunting other animals.
>>Go hunt wolves in the aforementioned forest in the west. Twice as profitable as deer, but they're more dangerous and make you more likely to have to deal with bandits
>>Hunt exotics in the south. Pretty stupid, hunting everything from bugbears to wyverns, but with obscene profit margins.
>>Try to sell Star. Insanely stupid, but she is damaged. If you can find some white mages, you can probably get a good price for her.
>>Just go home. You have an old shack in the woods to the east, why not take a break to relax until you're actually out of gold.

Well, that's it for now. Mostly just a set up for where you guys want to go next.

You know what would be a good idea for the memorial? A wall with the cutiemarks of all ponies that are no longer with them, painted by their loved ones as a reminder of what has been lost but never forgotten.

Inspired by this image
>>
>>29420792
Can we write in? Is there a way to forge papers for her right now if it's going to be a thing asked frequently? If that's the case, go home and look around for a while to get that sorted out instead of of risking the day one of these these guards won't be so kind.

Other than that,
>>>Go hunt deer in the forests to the west. Less profitable, but safer than hunting other animals.

>>29421086
Yeah, this was mentioned earlier. It'd be good for the ponies since a lot of these bodies aren't even found and they have no place to really grieve. Also it'd help them stop painting Corona all over the fucking place.
>>
>>29421134
Writing in is fine, for any options. Just make sure it isn't a completely radical divergence that doesn't make sense and I'm good.
>>
>>29421134
>implying anyone knows Corona's cutie mark to paint it on the wall.
>>
>>29421188
I wonder...How would the camp react if they found out Corona wasn't dead, but just ran away?
>>
>>29421231
Not as impressed as when they know it was Candance who gave her to Anon to torture her
>>
>>29421231
Keep pretending that she's dead so Anon doesn't try to bring her back.
Rebellions would probably spike as ponies realized that, yes, it is possible to live outside the camp, and happily.
>>
>>29421256
And they will stop listening to their leader and the rebels will try to use the moment to accelerate a massive escape of ponies
>>
Anyone want to see the rebels try something again, only for them to get massively blown the fuck out? I'd love to see them plan out this big escape, fill themselves with hope and then for them to get cut down and stomped.

>Afterall they re expensive as hell

>Why didnt they use the elevator?

>”Good, you re awake, lets talk business”

>Using a pony to distract and kidnap others, not cool
>”No? Cmon, i can be very persuasive if i want to~”

>”There I dropped the knife, I wont hurt you, Pinkie promise, but please work with me”

>”Anyway I need a place to crash and I doubt my owner will ever suspect me to be on one of these apartments”
>”Soo since I m already in here I m afraid I wont give you any choice but to keep me, while i plan my escapade”

>But before you could think on a rebbutal she was already in your face
>Pink covered the edges of your vision and sharp icy blue eyes glaring at you upside down
>”Pinkie promise me you wont do anything funny”
“What”
>”Do it, or else I cant garante what may happen to you if I need to use self defence”
“U-uh I-I Pinkie promise”
>Those eyes kept staring into you, furrowing slightly as if trying to see into your soul
>”Meh, it will have to do for now”
>Almost instantly all your binds came off and the light simply disappeared as she pulled it back
>”Now go make something for me to eat, a caesar salad with extra topping will be a good start”
“You know this is not really legal right?”
>”And what you guys are doing to my friends is?”
“I never said I liked that, did I?”
>”Oh, so you just stand in the sidelines doing nothing, big difference isnt it?”
>You two just stand there looking at each other for a while
>Taking your time to see her features better, you see that she has a bright pink fur and three baloons as her butt tattoo
>Not only that but you note of her impossibly straight dark pink hair hiding one of her icy blue eyes
>She keeps looking at you as if challenging you to do anything
>And then blows the bang of hair hiding one of her eyes as if trying to be more imposing with both of them on you

>Deciding you should break the ice you try to start a conversation

>”Pony, baloon butt, doesnt matter, just go make the salad”
>She sure seems like a big pile of friendship
>Shrugging, you move to the kitchen all the while thinking on what you should do to the pony
>Sure she s bigger in person than you though they d be, her face reaching up to your belly
>You still cant think on how she could be that threatening
>Still, she may look fine outside, but maybe her scars are all psycological
>Better to just go with the flow for now
>You hear the pony moving to the couch as you start prepping her salad
>And then the TV turns on, already in the news channel
>Something about not having any murders in your city today
>After hearing that you instantly cheer up
>Not like you could be any more worried with the daily murders from before
>Either way you cant help but whistle as you get out of the kitchen with the plates
>Hearing you, the pony jumps from the couch assuming a defensive position in front of the tv
“Dinners ready?”
>”Whatever, lets just eat” – she says, visibly relaxing
>You put both the plates in the table, earning a raised eyebrow from her
>Yet she silently sat on the table, not removing her gaze off of you
>Dinner goes by withouth any of you saying a word
>You re so tired that you dont see the time go by
>You do notice that she finished her dinner first, but waited for you to get up before doing so herself
>Both of you move to the bedroom and each take a side of the bed
>She groans as you climb up, but besides that she doesnt say anything else
>You re too tired to think straight, so you just decide to sleep it out and figure what to do tommorrow

>Considering your last owner, yes
>Anon doesnt seem like he s murdering people to make more friends though
>After all he doesnt have a pony to do that for him
>Well, didnt had one
>Great job silly filly, more friendship throught murder awaits you
>You re tired of this
>You re tired of killing others so your ‘master’ can make more friends

>What has this world done to you?

>Meh, not like it would be the first time you went by unnoticed

>With a sigh, you get up and walk to the window
>3rd floor, even landing ground, no where to jump to silence the sound
>You ve done worse for your master
>You jump through, landing on all fours and slightly cracking the ground with the impact
>You re unharmed thanks to your Earth pony magic, but a car you didnt see close by goes crazy
>Quickly you dash to the shadows and wait the alarm turn off
>Not hearing any other sounds you rush away from the crime scene
>Wait, was that even a crime scene?
>Oh well, as Twilight would say its better to be safe than sorry

What kind of punishment Anon should apply to serve as an example?

A) Sell the ponies that were part of the escape but were injured or captured in the early days

B) Sell to Flurry Heart

C) Sell to Candance

D) Write your own idea

Of course none of this is official or part of the CYOS story, it's just a simple exercise to keep the thread alive

When I first gave the idea that Fluttershy worked with the bountyhunters, someone else suggested that Flutter's betrayal is a form of kindness, save the others ponies from the cruelty of the human world.

I was on the other hand less considered, simply Fluttershy had adapted to the nature of our world and its philosophy, she had lost the last drop of kindness that had in Equestria and now is just a pony that does not care about the pain of others, the only thing that interests him is to share his pain with everypony and to smoke his marihuana after his work

Fuck, poor Candyass. That would just destroy her. All the more reason she just has to keep a watchful eye for descent she hasn't told to stand down yet, even if this thing works well to soften relations with some of the camp.

If Anon punished Cadance for such a transgression, I doubt he would sell her or Flurry. That'd break either his operation or Megan's heart, both of which are too valuable. And with more escapees I can't imagine selling more ponies would be a good idea. I suppose he would do the logical thing and punish them by burning down the Rec-center and the memorial in a raging fury, possibly make a public spectacle of Cadance all over again in his regressed state

>Dissolution of the Candance elite group, all will be dispersed to different parts of the plantation and will be imposed schedules that will make interaction impossible
>Curfew every night for those who are not assigned to night work, in case of finding a pony in violation of the order will be considered by the guard his punishment
>In the case of recapture to them ringleaders of the leak is you shall submit to interrogation until confess all the information of your organization and if have contacts with others groups outside of the property.
>Execution of the ringleaders in the front of the pony general population
>Candance does not receive the same destination but were forced him to witness the punishment, permanent removal of the Princess of love from any position of authority, physical and chemical suppressors to avoid the use of their strength, wings and magic, will remain in the dungeon guarded at all times and will be prohibited all contact

>You didn’t find her body for two days.
>The snowstorm ended up being far worse than expected. Over six feet in total fell in those two days, the wind and the darkness not letting up for a moment. Being the only one capable of safely going out into the storm, you had to bring each of the residence halls the food and supplies they needed.
>But that’s the least you could do. Then again, no matter how hard you try, you know you’ll never be redeemed in their eyes after this. Not for many years, at the very least.
>Your friends assured you that it wasn’t your fault, that she should’ve stayed closer in the storm. After some discussion, Anon and his family also agreed to forgo punishment so long as you swore to be more cautious. But, none of them were actually there.
>Of course it’s your fault. You didn’t want to fall further behind. You didn’t want to explain to Anon that you’d need thousands of dollars in replacement materials and extra time to repair the damages. You didn’t want to disappoint.
>But now, a pony has paid the ultimate price for your recklessness. Again. But now, you’ve destroyed the hopes and happiness of everypony around you. Again.
>They’ve glared at you openly. They’ve insulted you. Some have even spit on the ground in front of you. But it’s well-deserved, and you assured the other higher-ups that you don’t want to see those actions get punished.
>Punishment for them would be like icing on a massive cake of loathing.
>Most vocal of all is Crystal Skies. Once a pony you would call friend, and the only one here who saw you at the auction, is now understandably your greatest detractor.
>>
>>29422025
>After failing for so long in his romantic pursuits, he finally found a mare willing to except his mannerisms. And, by the looks of things, a very sweet one at that. No longer would his desperation stain his personality, and no longer would loneliness drive his actions.
>Until, of course, you took her away from him. It was less than a week into their courtship.
>On that third morning after she first went missing, the snow had finally stopped coming. You and a search party set out immediately, melting and digging through the snow and trying to find her underneath. Few still clung to the notion of finding her alive.
>It was you who ended up finding her. About ten yards off the road, and not sixty from the housing. She must have lagged behind, lost the group and ventured off the road. Perhaps she fell into some deep snow, or tried to fly back.
>More likely, she was probably overwhelmed by the wet, freezing snow that would have quickly sent her body into shock.
>As the snow melted around her, her body remained rigid. It was frozen solid, and when he was the first to try and move it, a stallion in your search party vomited. You were glad that Crystal Skies wasn’t there to see the scene.
>Tonight, the same night you found her, a funeral service is being arranged. Anon hasn’t had to deal with many pony deaths due to the generally young age he acquires them at, but he claims to be treating this incident with the same reverence as the last.
>A pony-friendly preacher is brought in to administer her last rights, and oversee the burial. A coffin of quality cherry wood has been purchased, custom made to allow the pegasus to be buried with her wings unfurled. A respectful dinner to honor her memory is planned, and Crystal Skies will receive time off and other amenities to help him in recovery.
>>
>>29422029
>Of course, you’re barred from the funeral and all related services. You wouldn’t go regardless.
>You could go to your room and study, but you instead decide to actually be productive and head out to the construction site. Perhaps you can lighten the workload for the ponies who have to get started tomorrow.
>You’ll be switching roles with Ruby Heart, to keep you away from your old group. The new one won’t be friendly either, but it’s probably far less likely to inflame the situation than the still-hurting ponies formerly under your command.
>You teleport over to the job site, and find your work thoroughly buried under snow. A quick peek inside reveals that at the very least, the building was properly sealed from the elements. No difficult repair jobs necessary.
>You sigh and start removing the massive piles of snow from the sides and roof of the building, and then the snow around the two other foundations you’ve poured. It’s easy work for you, but the ponies will struggle when they inevitably must face another winter storm further down the line.
>With little else to do, you teleport back, and go to rot in your room as you wait out the funeral.
>Study magic? You doubt you’ll be able to concentrate. Video games? Not appealing at the moment. That fiction book you haven’t read yet? No thanks.
>So it’s liquor then. You’re glad Anon sprang for the fridge with a drawer.
>…
>>
>>29422034
>Morning comes, and you’re all able to finally eat breakfast as usual.
>Well, not entirely as usual. A pall of silence seems to have fallen across the tables, and where there is usually lively conversation and laughter, few raise their voices beyond a half-whisper.
>Your table is no different, although thankfully all its regular members are still here. At least you haven’t made an enemy of everyone.
>At last Looking Glass breaks the silence, “So, Starlight. Are we still on for magic training on Sunday?”
“I… yeah.” Maybe some honest teaching and practice would be good for you. “Yeah, we can still go.”
>Further conversation fails to ignite, and your meal continues in relative silence.
>It’s only when one of the breakfast servers, a plump and somewhat elderly pegasus mare, comes over that the silence is again broken.
>”Starlight, dearie,” she speaks, poking you lightly in the back. Turning around, you can see her face is a mix of emotions, although you think you can detect some pity in there for you. “Just wanted t’let ya know, Crystal Skies ain’t holdin’ up too well. Somepony caught ‘im heading towards ‘is room with a rope last night, but managed t’yank the thing away from ‘im. I know he probably don’t wanna see you, but if you could do somethin’, anythin’, it’d mean a lot.”
>She turns tail and walks off. You’d thought his melancholy to be exaggerated (if still valid), but if he’s really that far gone…
>…

>That evening, a set of six bottles of hard liquor are placed in front of his door.
>By the time curfew sets in, they’ve disappeared.

End update. I really apologize for the slow update speeds, I've just had a lot going on in life and this section in particular gave me writer's block. Short update I know, but I decided it was enough to publish now. Feedback always welcome and appreciated. Pastebin: http://pastebin.com/TnWCRgzK
>>
>>29422053
YOU MANIAC

YOU KILLED HEEEEERRRR

Something tells me Starlight should volunteer herself to publicly take a whipping for what happened. It won't save a dead pony's life, but maybe it would restore some of the respect she once had from other ponies.

And fuck, poor Crystal Skies. Why the hell doesn't Starlight at least try to see him after hearing he was suicidal? She needs to stop being a coward and at least face him.
>>
>>29422053
I really did not expect this, but this tragedy is all it takes to break everything Glimmer had achieved, I expected an exemplary punishment for her from Anon but instead she had understanding and support, enough to sink her more The blame, more regrettable that the loss of a pony under his command is to know that she has failed herself, it would not be strange that she gave up all her comforts and focus on improving her skills to prevent this tragedy from recurring
>>
>>29422107
>>29422112
I'm going to offer direct commentary on Starlight because I feel that I've spend long enough trying to subtly build the darker parts of her character.

She is extremely narcissistic and self-centered in this fic. Of course she downplays that throughout and tries to justify it with internal struggles, but when in this entire fic has she actually done something selfless? Leaving Crystal Skies some booze is the first time she's ever been generous beyond simple applications of magic, I think. She is also somewhat detached from reality: at this point, the ponies have noticed and are aware of her bad traits, and don't like for a moment that she's going to be in charge of them. This incident is just going to be very jarring justification for her nay-sayers. She's not going to seek punishment, she's not going to get up on a stage and announce her apology. She'll quietly acknowledge her mistake as individuals pester her and hope it goes away.

Anon is a smart individual, although he's not perfect either. He can see these flaws and believes them to be potential signs of mental instability, and given her past (from what we've seen on the show, not what AJ knows) there might be good reason to think that. He himself is afraid to have the most powerful unicorn in the world turn on him, and also wants her closer to him. So, she damn well deserves a flogging, but won't get it.

That's how things stand right now. Starlight, our protagonist, is actually one of the least aware individuals on the entire farm of things. Which makes me wish I had done multiple perspectives and not experimented so much with POV, it makes writing sections like this incredibly difficult because lacing in underlying themes is far from easy.

Now that I typed all that out, how much of it can actually be deduced from reading without my commentary? I want to know if I fucked this up or not.
>>
>>29422144
Oh, it can be deduced. I haven't actually liked Starlight in a while from this fic. I care much more about the other ponies around her.

I hope somepony close to her can set her straight, eventually.
>>
>>29422174
Oh, they'll make efforts to set her straight. I hate happy endings.

I hate bad endings too.
>>
>>29422144
Anon should do the following:

put to Starligth to test until the situation over and them encouragement is have calm, nothing serves a powerful unicorn that does not work well with the rest, it would not take away its powers to him but if it would put to realize works more appropriate to his abilities, I believe she is the one who must give up the things she has received from anon as penance and help the rest of the unicorns to improve their abilities.

You say that Glimmer is narcissist in extreme in your history, because if after the fiasco of the portal and the death of Skimmer they do not lower it of its cloud then its narcissism lines in the psychosis, and Anon must act fast before something worse happens
>>
>>29409790

>I want to know if I fucked this up or not.
Sorry, but your last post was enlightening.
The creepy Stepford vibe I was getting from the whole Sweet Wheat setup makes much more sense now: I'm just seeing it from Glimmers POV. This would be much easier if it alternated between Anons POV, but that's not the story you are writing. You tried to show me this in Anons office, where he talked about how the wheat crop was a sham. You should have (and perhaps still should) make the point again by showing us some disgruntled ponies who are re-gruntled by his master plan.

More Derpy whipping green, short update!

(five minutes later)

>You had wanted to fight them.
>You had to hold yourself back as they let you walk out, and two more men walked into the holding area to retrieve Derpy
>Their unfeeling gazes made you want to scream

>you think back to where you just were
>you see her snout pressed between those metal bars
>can feel the gentle warmth of her breath on your hooves as you clasped them together

>you should have kissed her.
>You should have kissed her, and told her you loved her.
>Just one more time...

>you walk up the concrete ramp from the holding cell building
>A crowd of ponies has gathered around the stage
>it’s made of wooden boards, mostly, a simple flat platform
>and in the center, there is a tall, square wooden pole, with metal bracers on the sides for a pony’s hooves to keep them still
>and underneath that, there are tight wooden stocks for the back hooves, to keep them in place

>from the large crowd, there is no hustle and bustle
>just silence
>Their eyes as you emerge from the ramp leading down to the prison cells all lock onto you, as you are escorted by guards out to them
>>
>>29422373
>You can only greet them with a blank stare
>There is, after all, no good news to convey
>You are escorted past the metal gated barrier, and the gate shuts behind you, leaving you as just another pony in the crowd

>hardly even whispers can be heard from the other ponies
>but even with other floggings that have happened in the past, none were like this
>even though whippings were horrible, at least in the past you ponies could all see why they were deserved

>but everyone, EVERYONE, knew better about Derpy
>Everypony liked her
>and they all knew she could never hurt a fly, or even want to
>this had been a very serious accident, a very costly one, but it was still an accident
>not defiance, or rebellion, or intentional destruction

>but your Master did not see it that way.
>Whispers of Derpy’s sentencing had reached your ears just this morning
>and when you heard them, you didn’t want to believe them
>If the rumors were true…

>During your brief visit to her cell only minutes ago, you dared not tell Derpy the rumors yourself.
>you hoped with all your heart they weren’t true.
>you had to hope.
>>
>>29422376
>Startling you from stewing in the midst of your thoughts, you suddenly hear a murmur in the crowd
>your head turns, and then you see Derpy come into view
>She’s flanked by two guards, and a third one walks behind her
>and off to the left, another man walks up beside them all…

>There he is.
>It’s Master.
>his same, cold, unfeeling look as always
>large forehead revealed by his very short black hair
>he forges ahead of the rest, and walks up the stairs to the stage first

>Derpy is so terrified.
>you can just see it on her face
>she’s shaking at the knees, and her crossed eyes dart all around, taking in the whole scene
>You want so badly to run out there and hug her close, keep her safe, but you know that will do nothing.
>You try to get her attention from the crowd of ponies, but you get a sinking feeling in your stomach when she doesn’t see you.

>She ascends the steps to the stage
>The two guards flanking her stay very close, boxing her in
>but the one walking behind them crosses the platform, until he is standing next to the whipping post.

>Derpy hides her eyes behind her blonde mane, shivering visibly
>You could swear that everypony in the crowd was staring straight up at her
>in the midst of the square, you could hear a pin drop
>>
>>29422383
>Then, Master steps forward
>holds out his hands, gesturing to the entire crowd
>Now, the ponies shift their eyes to him

>and if looks could kill, none of you would be slaves.

>He appears totally unperturbed, however.
>He gets straight to the point, as usual, taking no time for fanciful introductions

“My ponies,” he says, voice neutral as ever, “Today, we are all here to witness the punishment of your fellow pony, Derpy Hooves. For the careless causing of extensive damage to major property, for jeopardizing the lives of my men and ponies, and for setting this building project back for weeks to come, Derpy has been sentenced to receive a flogging.”

>With every accusation, Derpy flinches
>and at the word “flogging” the tears start to flow
>Master pauses for a second for his words to sink in, and then, he steps aside to gesture to the whipping post

“And so, in accordance with the seriousness of these crimes, crimes of which have never been committed her before, Derpy shall receive the maximum punishment possible: 50 lashes.”

>Your heart stops.

>You narrow your eyes, saying nothing at first.
>She’s not the least bit discouraged.
>She laughs, even.
>”Heheheheh. C’mon now, don’t be like that. Didn’t run ya down this time, did I?”
“Yeah. I’m jumping for joy. Look, if you came to beg for more food, the answer’s no. This stuff’s reserved.”
>Her eyes flick to bag, looking it over, then focus on you again.
>”Hooch n’ sweets, by the look of it. Sure you ain’t got anything else in that place of yours?”
>Ugh.
“Barely. Just give it up, alright? I’m not about to start paying food expenses for you and your sister. If she even exists.”
>”She’s real, alright. And she liked them chips you gave us. Didn’t ya, Bloom?”
>She calls out to the empty alley, except it’s not empty.
>A tiny shape slinks around the corner of the building, dark red mane reaching down to her hooves.
>Amber eyes look at you with apprehension, but she slowly trots to her sister’s side.
>She looks like she’d bolt if you so much as sneezed.
"Gonna blackmail me, is that it? Trying to see if I want her on my conscience?”
>The elder pony wraps her foreleg around the smaller one as she rebuts you.
>”I’m tryin' to find a way to get food that doesn’t involve drawin’ police attention or…”
>She grimaces.
>”Favors.”
>You gnaw the inside of your lip as she continues.
>”You got a bit of pity in your heart. I know that. Means you ain’t no rotten apple. You helped me once. Even if ya don’t this time, I’ll never forget that.”
“You’re banking on me to save your hide because of that? A single bag of chips?”
>She nods solemnly.
>”I know my apples.”
>What the fuck is that supposed mean?
>This isn’t Ditzy, you can’t trust her in your home.
>She could be lying, scoping out your place to come back and rob later with others.
>But…
>Your gaze drifts down to the little yellow one at her side, who just stares back, never saying a word.
>…you’re a goddamned sap, Anon.
>>
>>29422870
“Fine. I can make you some food, but you stay put where I tell you and don’t touch anything or else. Clear?”
>A smile breaks across the orange bandit’s face.
>”You betcha.”
>The both of them follow you into your apartment, and you hesitate a moment before gesturing to the armchair.
>The two ponies settle into what has become your pony perch while you turn to your fridge.
>The page long grocery list magnetized to the front does not bode well.
>You open the door to find cold air, an empty six-pack, and…
>Eggs.
>Welp.
>You heave a sigh and get to work while your guests watch from their seat.
>You figure you’ll just make egg in a hole, since you still have a couple slices of bread left.
>Might be some jam in the cupboards somewhere, too…
>The orange mini-horse breaks the silence while you grease the pan.
>”What’s yer name?”
“Anonymous. What’s yours?”
>”Applejack. ’N the little one here’s Apple Bloom.”
>Still not a sound from the smaller one, and the staring orange eyes are starting to make you uncomfortable.
>You momentarily wonder what kind of shit you have to see to get eyes like that.
>The next moment, you decide you don’t want to know.
>You use a glass to make the holes in the bread, then throw them on the heat, doing your best to ignore the stare drilling into the side of your head.
>”Whatcha makin’ us?”
>At least someone’s trying to break the awkward silence.
“Egg in a hole.”
>”…at night?”
“Look, if you can find something else to eat, I’ll be happy to cook it.”
>It was just a clumsy retort, but she actually gets up and walks over, opening your refrigerator.
>”…Gee, fella. What’ll ya eat tomorrow?”
“Tomorrow I’ll finally remember to get some actual groceries, maybe. Don’t worry about it.”
>You crack eggs into the holed bread while she talks to you again.
>”Yer an odd one, Anonymous.”
“Don’t remind me.”
>>
>>29422874
>Just a few minutes of heat later, you unload the finished product onto two plates, with the circular pieces of toast beside.
>And just like you thought, there was a bit of jam left in the cupboard.
>Not too bad for short notice.
“Food’s ready.”
>Your guests take their plates and tear into the food with zest.
>In no time at all they’re licking the tableware clean.
“…Did you even taste it?”
>Applejack sighs in satisfaction, offering you the plate.
>”I surely did, Anonymous. And it tasted mighty fine. I thank ya.”
“No problem.”
>You take her plate, and hold out a hand toward Applebloom, waiting for her to do the same.
>The smaller pony, for the first time, averts her eyes from you.
>”Thanks, mister.”
>You barely resist the urge to scratch her ears.
>You don’t think she’d appreciate it.
“You’re welcome, Applebloom.”
>Setting the plates in the sink, you dig out your books and sit down at your desk to do homework.
>No point in getting into the snack food you bought if Ditzy wasn’t here, and drinking didn’t have a good effect on your productivity.
>Silence permeates your little apartment, broken only by the scratching of your pencil and the click-clack of fingers on a keyboard.
“…You aren’t going to sleep here.”
>Applejack huffs.
>”Pshaw! I know that. My granny taught me how ta be a good guest, fella. Just enjoin’ your chair, here. You know how long it’s been since I sat in an armchair like this?”
>You know very well.
>Ditzy’s words about pizza flash through your memory.
“Fair enough. I’ll let you out before I go to bed.”

>The hours flew by.
>Applejack had asked if you had any books to read.
>Upon being provided with "The Eye of the World,” she had begun reading to Applebloom.
>The sight made you feel better about letting them stay a while.
>Eventually you got enough work done to be able to safely procrastinate again and loaded up Steam.

>You pause and turn around, but she’s still reading to her sister, not even looking at you.
>Then where’s that noise coming from?
>You pull your headphones off and listen.
>You feel a pit in your gut.
>It’s coming from downstairs.
>Shouting.
>You’re up, out of the chair, and across the room before you know it, shoes halfway on.
>What are you even going to do?
>What can you do?
>Your guest interrupts your thoughts.
>”What’s the matter? Where you goin'?”
“Nowhere. Stay here.”
>She says something else, but you’re already out the door.
>You rush down the stairs, the noise coming from Keith’s apartment just like you knew it would be.

>The noise abates, and you hear Keith call.
>”What?!”
“Just a friendly reminder to shut up.”
>”Fuck off, Anon!”
“No, you. And don’t call me that. Open the door.”

>”…You wouldn’t.”

This. Instant ramen is the meme you're looking for. Back when I was in college I'd eat eggs, apples that were about to spoil from the bargain bin, and chicken. Very filling stuff. Other days I'd have oats, which are like 3-5 dollars for this thing which has 30 or so servings, I believe.

Eggs were my favorite though, you could do anything with them. Make a stew with tomatoes, fish sauce, and onions. Make an omelet, which you can put anything into. You can even just turn it into an egg drop soup and sip away at it while you study.

>>Just go home, make her forged papers

>You've still got two hundred gold and a decent amount of food, so there's no harm in going back home.
>You can forge some papers so that you have an excuse for using Star to carry your stuff around.
>Maybe even figure out how to get Star talking.
>You turn to face the east, stealing a glance at Star.
>Her annoyance at the guard has evidently faded, she's returned to her old neutral expression.
>You can totally play the long game.
>It would be nice to have someone to talk with, considering how much time you spend alone.
>Do unicorns talk aloud?
>You don't actually own a bestiary or anything, so you've only heard stories about unicorns.
>Most of that is mixed up in southern religious mumbo jumbo, so you aren't sure what's true and what's myth.
>Maybe you can ask Star once you figure out how to get her to talk.
>Wait.
>What if she had or orders not to talk or something?
>Shit, maybe she thought it was a test or something when you asked her to talk.
>Hopefully that's it, and she'll start talking if you make that clear.
>Well, not hopefully, that's actually pretty messed up.
>It's worth a shot though.
>You stop and turn to her, trying for a stern tone.
"Star, you are released from any standing order to not speak."
>She sort of just stares at you, stopped on the side of the road, now staring back at her.
"Or communicate in any other form."
>No response.
"Officially."
>No response.
>You sigh and return to walking.
>>
>Maybe if you talk to her?
>You turn while walking and catch what you think is a faint, fleeting, glimpse of a grin.
"I'm not going to punish you for talking."
>She neither smiles nor responds.
"Or smiling. I guess I didn't mention that before."
>Nothing, again.
>Dammit.
>You stop again, having only made a minute's progress from you're last stop.
"Well, I'm having lunch now and you're aren't getting hay unless you ask for it."
>You sit down, in the middle of the currently deserted road.
>You reach into your bag and pull out half a loaf of slightly stale bread.
>Star sits across from you, sort of like a dog, and stares at you.
>It's not begging, just staring.
"Don't look at me like that Star."
>She turns around, facing the road.
"That's not what I meant, c'mon"
>She turns to face you again and starts pawing at the ground.
>Hoofing at the ground?
>You can't watch this anymore.
>Grab the bag of hay and put it in front of her.
>She sticks her head in and begins to eat, albeit slowly.
>Lunch passes quickly and soon you're back on the road.
>The rest of the trip passes mostly in silence, but it's still better than being alone.

>Your house isn't actually yours, it belonged to your dad.
>He's missing now, though.
>So it's your house for now.

>It's actually quite nice, if not a little weird.
>It's three bedroom house with indoor plumbing.
>By itself that's not that weird.
>But your house is in the middle of the woods, barely even in a clearing.
>You turn to Star, not actually expecting a response anymore.
>You literally have not heard a single sound from her yet.
"Well, this is my house."
>You open the door and Star follows you into the kitchen.
"You can have the room over there-"
>You to a door down the hall.
"-that's the guest room."
>You grab your writing materials from the bags she's carrying.
"You can just drop those wherever you want."
>Now she's just carrying your food, some gear, and a few books.
>You watch her trot off, probably to set up in the guest room.
>Now what should you do?

"What about you, Seismic?"
> Grinning, you give the stallion a nudge.
"You got yourself somepony nice and soft to squeeze?"
> "I'm, uh... not... interested right now."
"Oh, come on. Not even some filly you've got your eyes on?"
> "Hah, hah."
> After a moment, however, he doesn't go on and you begin to realize that maybe he was entirely serious about not being interested.
"Hey, uh, Seismic, if you lost somepony and I just-"
> "No, nothing like that Thunderlane."
> He actually manages a smile - an honest, real smile - and you relax.
> "S'appreciated, though. Thinking of me."
"Phew. Was worried I'd ticked you off."
> "If you actually annoyed me, you'd know it. I'm not some mare who's going to stand around waiting for you to guess what's wrong."
"Good. Prefer it that way."
> But then the silence returns, creeping back up between the two of you.
"If I can, ask, though... if it's not 'cause you lost someone, why-"
> "Sorry. It's... a private thing."
> That pulls a little frown from you.
> Was there something else about it that was bothering him...?
> "...want to go take a look at it?"
"Huh?"
> Your thoughts had apparently drifted so far as to completely detach you from the conversation.
> "The memorial. Museum. Whatever they're calling it now - want to go take a look after our patrol is up?"
"Yeah, unless they can figure out something else to drag us off to do."
> Lacking a proper location as of yet - the final rec building was only just in the planning stages - a former warehouse had hastily been cleaned out and quickly refurbished to meet the need.
> It's still a very obviously temporary measure - the cavernous structure and utilitarian lighting still lend the space a rough air - but already ponies were hard at work making it more appealing.
> Off to one side, separated by a partition that is little more than temporary drywall mounts held together with a variety of lumber assembled by skilled hooves, is the 'memorial'.
>>
>>29432089

> By far the most impressive outpouring of support to the new project was the sheer number of things that had been donated for it.
> Most - like your Wonderbolts' mural - were carefully reconstructed from memories carried in the exile from Equestria.
> Images, texts, no less than three recreations of the Equestrian flag, memories of important events and locations carefully laid out on whatever paper ponies could find...
> But a shocking number of true relics of the lost land had come out of hiding as well.
> Closely kept mementos shepherded by careful effort and small miracle until they reached this point:
> A genuine Apple Family Cider bottle - its contents long since drained, a necklace made in the image of the lost Element of Magic, a certificate - charred but legible - signed by Celestia herself...
> They'd come in boxes still damp from the earth they'd been concealed in, tucked in the layers of a book, and stitched into a foal's blanket and carried by the pony who'd once been that foal himself.
> They had-
> Your ears cock as you approach the museum, voices rising in anger from within:
> "...a real part of Equestria, you know! If you pretend we didn't have-"
> "We're not pretending. But we have to be very, very careful about what we add, especially at first."
> "You mean we have to bow to Anonymous' decisions. What's the point of this if we're leaving out how strong we were?"
> Both you and Seismic eye each other, then move in towards the entrance.
> Before you can reach it, however, another stallion sweeps out - head held high and hooves thudding into the concrete floor with considerable force.
> Catching sight of you, he snorts - but avoid a confrontation, opting to go around you.
> "...guard dogs."
> Ignoring his muttered comment, you opt to simply let the stallion until he vanishes back out the door.
> Only then do you actually step through into the museum.
>>
>>29432093

> Some of the interior 'walls' are no more than a sheet hung up over several standing bars, but the sheer volume of donations means they are already cluttered with hung-up objects.
> A low whistle escapes your lips as you look about, eyebrows rising.
"...impressive."
> "I don't think - oh. Thunderlane."
"Cheerilee... hello."
> Poking her head out of an adjoining room, she was now paused with one hoof raised.
> You'd had a few other awkward moments before, but this ranked pretty far up them...
> "You didn't have to come around just for him."
"We, uh, didn't."
> "Oh."
> The frown already worked onto her face deepens, eyes darkening.
> "Come to check up and make sure we're not encouraging sedition or something, then?"
> "Not that either. We just... want to see."
> "...ah."
> Cheerilee blinks, as if not quite expecting that.
> "I, uh... come in?"
> Taking her up on the offer, you follow her back in to the gestating museum.
> "Sorry about snapping at you. Things've been pretty... hectic."
"I figured. Sorry - I think I might've contributed to that a bit."
> When Cheerilee gives you a questioning look, you add:
"The Wonderbolts poster?"
> "Ah, the big one."
> Her grimace fades, actually melting into a proper smile.
> "That's one's actually pretty welcome."
"Oh?"
> "Well, we don't have a lot of... organizations from Equestria that we can put up, you know. The Royal Guard is of course not going to be shown here, but the Wonderbolts... they're just safe enough."
> Eyes askance, you shoot a glance at Cheerilee's back.
> Like you she still bore a few scars of her whipping at Cadance's hooves, but she had only take half the lashes and so they were considerably fewer and less severe.
"You're willing to take that risk?"
> "You donated it. Aren't you?"
"Absolutely."
> Cheerilee nods, her smile growing ever so slightly bigger.
> "Well, there you go."
> It only lasts a moment, though, before fading back down again.
>>
>>29432103

> "It's good that somepony understands. I've already had to turn away too many."
"Like that one who just walked out?"
> Another nod - this one more sharply jerked than the last.
> "He had a photograph - his brother's graduating class of officers in the Royal Guard. Smuggled it along in a 'bandage' for an old injury in his leg. It must've meant the world to him, and..."
> She goes silent, eyes drooping.
> Beside you, Seismic Shift stirs.
> "Surprised you're willing to do that, Miss Cheerilee. Way I heard it, you were pretty clear about wanting to teach ponies the truth..."
> "I'm not... happy. But somepony has to do this, and at least now..."
"At least now you're not lying completely."
> "Yes. Don't have to pretend that we didn't have modern medicine, or that we lived in constant fear of monster attacks, or that our princesses and government weren't anything more than a hive of corruption and nepotism... all those lies are gone. At least now I can tell the truth, if even not all of it."
"Have there been other ponies like him? The one who brought the photo, I mean-"
> "Others? A whole lot of others. Whole, whole lot of others. A lot of ponies want this to be a way to - to strike back at him. To defy him."
"You don't want that?"
> "Of course I do. But I'm a realist, too... I don't have to lie anymore, and that's enough for me."
> She turns back to the displays, head tilted.
> "Something we have to teach every foal: You can't always get everything you want all at once."
"Don't I know it..."
> "I'm afraid, though... if enough of them get turned away, then what?"
> Silence follows that, during which you shuffle uncomfortably.
"Cheerillee-"
> "Thunderlane. Listen to me... you probably know already, not everypony has given up on pushing back."
"Who?"
> "No names. I'm not ready to give that yet... but ponies are willing to push. Me? I'm... not sure. I was, but now... we can use this. Fighting isn't needed; fleeing, or even just ensuring we are remembered..."
>>
>>29432109

"And they don't see it that way?"
> "Some ponies aren't so discerning about what we're teaching here. Total freedom, or it's nothing at all."
> You have to admit to yourself that they have something of a point:
> Even if Anonymous had allowed this, there would be still be a great deal that could not be said.
> Important things - fighting back against his lies.
> But...
"Do you know what they're going to do?"
> "No. But I have some suspicions."
> She doesn't elaborate, though, and after a few moments you realize hoping for that much may have been too much as well.
"I'll, uh... go, then. And-"
> "They're build their own 'museum', holding what they want to see. Trying to teach ponies to fight, not just to remember or even to run away."
"How do you know?"
> "How?"
> At last Cheerilee turns to face you again, a bitter expression on her face.
> "I've seen how plenty of angry colts and fillies act - looking for any excuse to pick a fight. It doesn't matter who gets an ear bitten or hoof twisted in the process."
> You nod, and she turns back - returning to her work.
> "...you got a plan to deal with this, Thunderlane?"
> Grimacing at Seismic's question, you nod.
"I'll have to do a bit of planning with Gene again, but I think..."

Choice time: How do you proceed:
> Start hunting down the other knots of resisters who would violently act out.
> Set a watch on the Security building - we know something fishy is already going on there and can use that to get a lead.
> Ask Sunburst if he knows anyone in his circle who isn't reacting well to Cadance's orders to them, and work from there.
> Do nothing. You're fed up with being Anonymous' enforcer.
> Something else (specify)

If we start a horsehunt off the bat without a lead, they'll know Cheerilee's been talking shit like they wouldn't hear it and she'll be a target to senseless violence. If they are as violent as she's making them out to be, they probably wouldn't hesitate using force to overpower anyone they deem a "traitor"

Can't play with kid gloves all the time. This compromise is too valuable and new to risk dumb ponies pushing the envelope. Atleast set up the watch. Maybe increase pony patrols around the board houses for any chatter if no leads come up.
>>
>>29432566
Hopefully.
>>
>>29432333
Well, I can't ignore numbers like that. Normally I'd give you less info but trips are sort of like criticals in my book. Anon knows:

>Supposedly unicorns have a strong connection to white magic, accounting for their connection to the tribals.
>They're pretty intelligent and have been known to communicate with people, but you aren't sure how.
>They're generally peaceful, although their tribal protectors are anything but.
>Since the tribals have a long tradition of white magic, unicorns are revered and supposedly taught the first white mages.
>Now, they're basically treated as exotic beasts up north and used to make potions that mimic white magic.
>>
>>29432116

Do almost all the options:

You could inform Anon but first you must obtain evidence, you must go with the other guards and check their records, making a list of the ponies with worse history and that meet the characteristics that fit within the pattern or are just angry ponies, with Sunburts to know if such ponies are with their group or are independent, to make him see that any premature and violent action that they execute would jeopardize the plan endorsed by the princess and hurt many ponies, with the support of Seismic to maintain a discreet surveillance of the ponies and locate their meeting points and find out what kind of memorial they are doing, at all times should avoid attracting the attention of other human guards, who could take advantage of the situation to denounce you to Anon as a traitor for not immediately reporting on Your findings.

Now that it think, that such if after do all the research and get to a conclusion rather than inform to Anonymous you report to the Princess? That would prevent that Anon closed memorial which both means for everypony and together find the way to solve all of peaceful and discreet way

Do not forget to see Vapor Trail to make sure she and her baby are OK

Thanks. Maybe you should so what QM's do on /qst/ make a side pastebin with MC info, inventory and house and land titles, and non-meta knowledge like this so we don't forget and do a write-in that's out of character in the future.

>>29432222

>>
>>29433041
On the other hand if Thunderlane informs the princess and both inform Anon in the end, as a gesture of goodwill, not only will not close the memorial but also support its construction demonstrating to the ponies that he respects his history and his traditions of Friendship and concord, and not violence and hatred
>>
>>29432925
There won't be an update until tomorrow because of real life stuff, so I'll make something like this.
>>
>>29432103
>Cheerilee is convinced to curate the museum
>Rebelliousness diminished because she can finally speak the truth
Wish Anon can see this. One rebel rouser already calmed down by an act of kindness. Though I imagine if he knew just how much of the old country Ponies snuck in here, he'd be less enthused.

>>29432116
>>29432222
Unfortunate but Cheerilee is in the right: we can hold onto the relics representing the military/might of Equestria until after Anon is no longer jumpy to undo his experiment before it can cause trouble, but it needs to wait.

We can't exactly go cracking down on ponies for not actually doing anything, though: setting up their own museum isn't exactly breaking any of the rules as far as I know, and they aren't vandalizing/planning a break out. I think we should increase the watch just to be on the look out, and maybe stake out in front of the security station some more to see what was going on there before. Not to arrest either but, track down that pony / the pegasus who was starting shit in the cafeteria the other day on off-hours and talk to them, try and make them realize the danger of this if they try and incite rebellion with a more aggressive museum. And how the one they just got could be destroyed as a result.

>>29432915
Oh yeah, absolutely report it to the Princess, not Anonymous. He said he wanted ponies managing themselves, they'll manage it themselves. This is a pony issue for now and Anon we can't trust yet to keep his word if there's even a hint of shit going south.
