I told my two best friends. One teases me about it and dislikes my "pony friends" probably cause soon after he moved out of state i got into the show and made brony friends and lost contact with him for about 2 years. I hid my power level for the first year or so when people still thought it was weird. Once most folks recognized it as an internet thing I only brought it up to people I thought would like it. For example my bro hated the idea of liking it, and can't stand to watch an actual episode, but thought the first round of the MAS was genius.

For me it was less of a weird thing than it might have been for some other people because I've always watched cartoons, have done some music for them and have friends in the animation business. So the fact that I'm into a cartoon that's currently airing doesn't raise an eyebrow even though I'm a middle aged guy.

There was this friend from uni, we were pretty close. I helped him sort out his life when he was kicked out, lend him a hand. We talked a lot and watched anime. I could always count on him and he always counted on me. I had to move out, but everytime i traveled back i paid him a visit.

On one of those visits, i told him about the show. How good it was and that, while it wasn't better than some anime series, it was better than average.

After that meeting, i never see him again.

No, really. He didn't answer the calls, or the e-mails. When i traveled, i made sure to send messages to him and his then-girlfriend that i was in town and wanted to talk to him. And the answer was always the same: Silence.
