Slavic is just a language family.
English are Germanic but you'd be they're absolutely different from Germans or Scandinavians.

Same with Slavs. Take Hungary, for example. They're not Slavic because they still speak one of the Urlaic languages (Finland, Siberian populations) but they're identical to the countries around them as far as heritage (same genealogy, i.e. ancestors) is concerned.

According to legal statistics, the US has a lower crime rate than England. I can't say for sure about Germany, but the general rule is 'the less guns in civilian hand, the more crime'.
