t u l p a
Me and my first tulpa wanted to cuddle a poner
What can I say
>>29321023
A tulpa is an entity created in the mind, acting independently of, and parallel to your own consciousness. They are able to think, and have their own free will, emotions, and memories. In short, a tulpa is like a sentient person living in your head, separate from you.
A definition I grabbed from the /trash/ thread.
>>29321033
Oh, you mean headmates like tumblr has?
>>29321049
To an extent, they're kind of the same thing, yeah, but the communities, practices, and beliefs all evolved seperately. Headmates are very different in a lot of ways; for example, most Headmates are believed to be metaphysical in some way, while tulpas are usually thought of as a purely mental phenomena. Another example is that headmates are usually unintentionally created, while tulpas are usually intentionally created.
Either way, tulpas are not really linked to tumblr much at all, they're mostly a 4chan thing; but the core concept of a separate person running around in your noggin is shared between them, yeah.
I know this whole concept sounds insane, but give it a shot. You might enjoy it. The worst it could do is give you a few hours of meditation if you don't succeed.

Then tulpas got banished to /x/ where they belong.
Probably the only good thing about tulpa threads is getting people to learn meditation, visualization, and deep internal focus, skills which are all valuable.

Correction, they started in /x/, got b& from /x/ for being a mental phenomenon rather than a metaphysical one, then moved to /mlp/. Then the scruffening happened and newfags now think tulpas are evil and not a part of /mlp/.

>good thing about tulpa threads is getting people to learn meditation, visualization, and deep internal focus, skills which are all valuable
And then they go flying over the edge and straight into schizophrenia and psychosis.
>>29321725
I happen to know a lot of people who have tulpa and none of them are schizophrenic or psychotic. They're good people.
>>29321731
Don't give him any (You)s.
>>29321725
>anon doesn't know what he's talking about: the post
Where could I find out about tulpas? I'm curious and wasn't around for the old threads.
>>29322752
to summarize, tulpea are imaginary friend final form. they're a cordoned off section of your unconsciousness given a personality, visual and tactile forms. you can see and feel them, but they're not there. talking to them is like talking directly to your unconscious.
the reason we had a tulpa general on /mlp/ is because people would make pony tulpas.
