The second is different. I'm actually a regular reader at /spg/. I'm even cool reading stories about slaves who would rather comply with comfortable slavery than risk their lives rebelling. People (and ponies) are different after all, and that's part of what makes reading interesting.

What makes me perplexed is that those one or two screeching anons are actually, literally so autistic that they cannot even consider the idea that people can have different feelings about and responses to things than them. They literally just assume people who say that even comfortable slavery would still pain them, significantly more than the mere physical pain of being injured or killed resisting, are either lying or that _they're_ the stupid ones.
It's like somebody hating peanut butter and assuming that everybody who eats it is just so stupid that they don't realize they don't have to eat it.

The worst part is the idea that these people begin to act like slavery, as long as it's not abusive, is morally acceptable, just because they could tolerate it. That they (or somebody) should be allowed to make choices for other people based on THEIR preferences.

I've never really understood this impression. Rainbow maybe gets fewer moments highlighting her devotion to her friends than the other ponies get that highlight their harmony trait, but she is repeatedly shown going above and beyond when her friends are in danger. Specifics beyond that depend on the birdpone. How conscientious and empathetic she is. I don't understand the argument you're trying to make with your fire rescue example. I mean, I understand you're trying to support this slightly strange thesis "saving another pony doesn't indicate loyalty to them." But Dash isn't employed as "falling people rescue"; the Wonderbolts are and they failed (which for some reason you mention in this paragraph as if it somehow supports your argument?). Dash is pushed above and beyond her normal abilities to rescue her friend.

The hibernation example is actually perfectly in line with the regular theme of "element of harmony represents their element too well, without consideration for consequences, and needs to learn moderation."
A perfect example are a bunch of the flaws you seem to have skipped over in your ending points. For example, one of Twilight's more persistent flaws is actually that she tries to take everything onto herself to save her friends from problems, instead of trusting them to help her together.

Is the problem the word? Can we maybe agree that "loyalty" is just a name, it refers to something that may or may not precisely underlie what either of us, personally, think of when we say that word.
Celestia at the end of season 3 also gives us the synonym "Devotion" for Dash's contribution.

That's basically the exact point I'm aiming for to begin with. The professionals had failed. Most reasonable people (who weren't frozen with shock) would have written them off at this point. Dash was motivated to do something because of her devotion to her friend; despite the fact that it was an long shot with risk involved.
I basically don't understand why you interpret this event the way you do. I suggest it might be some kind of inverse halo effect where her cuntiness and attitude prevent you from seeing her good aspects as well.

I was really frustrated and disappointed in this honestly. This had a lot of potential just from the prompt, but here you don't use the age difference issue and instead substitute in an emo mare plot that's tangentially related. That's fine, but there's hardly anything gained from it.

Now, I want to say I'm a sucker for negative emotion and emo style ponies. I love her design (seriously, I want to put my dick in that mare), but the conflict here has just about no depth to it. The dialogue is more or less repeating the same thing over and over with Anon giving these wise, emo-comradic one liners that made me cringe.

Credit where it's due, the story here gets really close to saving itself by introducing that the mare lost a loved one, and some of the conflict stems from how mares are supposed to toughen up more. That has a lot of potential to make her sympathizable and make us WANT to see her comforted, but we get these jarring bits where ponies apparently make fun of her... because her dad died... wow. And then Anon on top of this is awful to read.

What he comes off as is pure white knight with a dash of sue in the wrong places. He's feels like he knows exactly what to say and how to comfort her perfectly to make her open up to him. It's not wrong that he tries, and it's not wrong that it works for him instead of backfires or something, but jeeze, this guy isn't even phased or overwhelmed by how much emotion he's confronted with. He's calm and perfectly in control, and it reads like a white knight self insert character because of that. It wouldn't surprise me at this point if she declared she loved him for being 'so nice to me' within the next handful of updates.

I want this to work so badly but the context of her feelings wasn't established well enough, and there's next to no subtly or reserve that these characters show in their interactions.The scene's tone falls completely flat because of it. I don't want you to drop this but it needs a lot of work.

I agree with you guys to an extent. I'm not usually one to jump on something this early, but the scene in question here ended within those 3 posts. He's not in the middle of illustrating a concept still. The writer consciously decided that the scene accomplished its task, then stopped posting and asked for feedback. I take that to mean the stage has been set and we're supposed to know if we'd like more or not.

It may really redeem itself just after this, heck—that's what I'm hoping for, but there's no reason to believe the trend it started won't continue. Rather I wanted to make sure I said something early so the writer can work on it before he got too deep into the story. So far we have a lot of Anons praising whats here without giving anything constructive on why they think it works, and I feel this really deserves some more thought put into it.

I'm pretty familiar with BDSM culture, yeah, and I love that aspect of it even if I don't care for bondage itself.
