I'd say she's halfway there.

Ease up on the obnoxious amount of appearances she makes and make me laugh when she does appear.

She's got the first part. Though it could be because I had to be out of town missing the thread with limited internet.

It's funny, if you got exactly that, you would be happy. But if I got that, I would be disappointed. I love seeing her, she asked overstayed her welcome no matter how many times she is used so far after all these years. And I feel her dramatic stuff is really the strongest aspect of her character. When she's used in drama, I really love how she is playing and how she plays off of others. She's a really nuanced character with a lot of stuff to unpack every time she appears. I don't want to see less of her, and I don't want her to stop being in drama pieces.

Not criticizing you, not at all, I just find it interesting that we can have such a wide breath of taste around here.

The juggling changeling paused mid search, looking over his shoulder at the friend who had gone completely silent.

That was his life now.

Scrubbing floors, scrubbing walls, scrubbing dishes and scrubbing toilets, scrubbing away everything that could be scrubbed until it was shiny and bright. It had gotten dirty, and he had to clean it, he had to give it his all.

Until it had cleaned away all the filth.

Scrub scrub scrub scrub scrub, until the stains were gone, and it was smooth and white again.

“What’cha doooin’.”

He would not stop, no matter how much the skittering little thing poked and prodded at his head, careful not to drop down from her webbing to disturb his work, and dirty up the things he’d worked so hard to clean away.

“But ain’t you worried about PJ? She ran off again.”

His work slowed, but did not stop before he resumed it again, scraping hard at the floor beneath him until his elbows burned and his breath was short.

>She is a grown mare, she can take care of herself. She proved it time and time again.

“Aren’t you just a little bit scared?”

This time he paused, but only for a moment.

>Just a little bit. But she is strong, she is smart, and she will do whatever it takes to stay alive, she’s certainly proved that.

Finally, he stopped, tilting his head up until he looked to the wide, innocent eyes dangling just above him.

“Sometimes, when they leave, even if they promise, they don’t come back.”

The answer did little more than lessen the worry on her face, but it was enough for him to resume his work again.

She lowered down, unable to hold herself up anymore, and he was waiting. He reared back, and grabbed hold before she ever made it to the ground, and held her.

“You changed, you did. I know what you did was bad… but you changed, and if they got a second chance, why don’t you? How much longer do you have to work?”

He held her, as tightly as he could, and he breathed in.

He looked away from her, down the halls, through the seemingly endless corridors, and to the very top of the massive castle.

This place had been his home, and it was dirty.

She was determined, and he knew there was no stopping her now.

Life doesn't have an end goal, and the CE crew are very much about life.

I see Chrysalis struggling as a ruler, Shining struggling while dealing with a child that isn't pre-raised a little bit, Cadence struggling to be everything like she was before, 18 struggling to keep up with everyone and keep her 'claim', and 42 struggling to be useful again when she can barely stand.

The Crew has a wiiiide future ahead of them, and very little of it has to do with romance, even though they are by far the most developed in that area.

Not going to lie, recent development of made me wonder what the future is for a lot of them. Not the CE crew, they seem to have their own thing going, but what is AJ's going to be in the future? We took away her romance option, which was fine, it helped her a lot, it made sense, it was a pretty good story. But now that it is gone, we never really asked, what is next? Is the romance completely dead, and if so? Where we going to go next? Can we open her up for other romance? What would our readers allow, and what would fit with the story? Romance isn't a necessity, but at the same time it is an aspect all the same. What do we want out of this going forward, and what do we want to focus on? I guess this is more for the readers then the writers, since most of them seem pretty open unless they have their own thing that they are dead set on, and they listen to criticism. What is next for her, with that aspect of her life?

The white stallion never looked over his shoulder, unable to tear his eyes away from those inside of the room he peered into. The tall, ebony shape above him chuckled in her dark little way, the only way she truly could no matter what she felt inside.

A long neck aided her in peering over his mess of blue striped hair, the crack in the door more than sufficient for her own curious eye to peer inside.

Inside, where everything precious was waiting.

"Ah. I see.'

Inside, a joyous child rubbed a big pink belly, her ear pressed tightly to it in hopes of hearing something inside. The caring, motherly look watching her was full of nothing but love, and the radiant smile on her face was enough to brighten even the dimmest of hearts.

Not too far away was another, scribbling away with a fevered pitch, scraping up and down paper after paper as she toiled for the safety and the growth of the land she had grown to love, and those within it. She kept her watchful eye on the pair as well, the one she watched so carefully and the one who made her heart aflutter, and she toiled happily for them.

At her side, ever vigilant and watching every corner her tired eyes could find, the soldier's head was weighed heavily by her multifaceted helmet, but she would not let the tiredness make her bow. No matter how deeply the wounds went caused by her own actions, she would not let her duty fall short. More than any other thing, she was a solider, and solider she would forever be.

Away from them all, a slight smirk on her face, the former Wonderbolt Captain turned Crystal Air Captain held a smile much like those on their own faces. Her face held so little of the bitterness that had been it's staple for so long, and not a trace of anger to be found as she giggled at the child's glee.

Above them all, both in stature and so many other things, the princess who had lived so long still found a smile that felt fresh as she made sure the smallest did not play too rough. Care and gentleness, traits she knew so very well and held as brightly as the sun she would raise.

This gathering, once seeming so unique and strange to most, had become the norm. To think anything else of this day would seem odd, in fact. These ponies belonged together, that much was plain for anyone to see.

"I hated you. I know, it's all so strange to look back on now. It seems like a whole other world. I'm not thinking of that, I can't think about it for too long, it just doesn't make sense when you think about it."

"And yet, here we are. So, I don't think about it, not for too long. I'm just... looking ahead."

Finally, at long last, he looked to her.

When she met his eyes, she could not find another word to say.

"You've got so much coming, I don't know if even you realize it, Chrysalis. After all you’ve been through, from the ballroom to the stadium to being hated and then not and then the move and now… you’re making your own kingdom. You. You're actually making a real, tangible, solid kingdom, you see why that’s huge, right? This is all so... big."

She was the first to break her gaze, the first to look back to the gathering just a few scant steps away, and the first to swallow the lump in her throat to speak again.

"It is.. It is getting so... big."

He too looked back, subtly drawing closer to her as he looked away, even if he did not realize he was doing it.

"I know we've come a long way, Chrysalis I don't need to say that. I'm thinking about... where we're going. Like I said, marrying Cadence, making a home with her, that was supposed to be the end, that was the big finish I thought my life was building to."

"What if it's just the beginning?"

The question hung in the air between them, the endless expanse of possibilities laying out in a cosmic storm of paths that eclipsed the heavens beyond.

So many roads lied ahead, a thousand paths, infinite choices, infinite worlds that could be created as wonderful and as horrifying as their own would seem to themselves just a few years ago.

To change as much as they had was a wonder.

To discount they could change again, and even more unbelievably, foolish.

What lie ahead, neither of them could truly say. They could not even guess, knowing it would be little more than a shot in the endless dark beyond.

Once again, he looked to her. He took his time when he turned his head, he made it last, and when he finally looked her in the eyes it was all the more special.

"Do... do you wonder if..."

She waited, her breath long since having left her, as he struggled to find the words. She waited with heart stopped, and head full of fuzzy things that scattered about every which way.

"Do you wonder if we're missing something?"

Her whole world crashed back with a blink of her eyes, everything descending into rapid darkness as she tried to process what it was she had heard, and understand it more than the whiplash in her head would allow.

"What?"

She looked back up, back into that warm, cozy room. Back into the love and caring going on inside. Back to their whole world.

Inside that room, she looked, and she searched.

"You mean... Sombra?"

"N- well, yes, but there's something else, isn't there?"

She searched, and she searched, and she searched.

She did not find everything.

While it's almost certainly bait, in the event he just picked a bad line of thought, I agree with some sentiments.

The thing I like about AUJ is that we get to discover her. She has a whole story and life up to this point that we get to fill in, and we get to piece together her relationships piece by piece. What she became, what she did, and how she did it all get to be discovered through events, and not exposition. Now obviously, liking her for this reason isn't a slight against the original, since you obviously can't do that with a main character who we literally saw her entire life up to when she shifted in this whole series began. But I do like the mystery and what she can become.

When those words reached her ears, she knew it did not need to come from an Applejack to be genuine.

~We’ve made such terrible mistakes, time and time again. Long after when we should have, or when we should know better.~

One by one, they stepped forwards.

(But we’re learning, every single time we mess up, we learn a little more.)

One by one, they joined each other.

They fell silent, those six powerful mares. Not a single one of their eyes could be seen past the wall that was the glare that bore into her. The mare from another world did not need to see them to feel them, everyone, burning into her.

When the stiffness left her, when she finally felt the means to move again, her hoof stiffly reached up, and pushed her glasses back.

The pony's words could barely be heard over the rushing water of the shower, the fact she mumbled them out like a student giving a speech on the importance of not doing drugs didn't help matters either.

The glass shower door flung open, and a torrent of steam welcomed them inside. Emerging from that steam like a creature from Tartarus with brush in mouth and smile a mile wide, Sunset barely contained her glee.

"You've got help this go round. I'm giving her a Fluer Cut!"

"Too late to back out now! Thirteen! Join me!"

The sickly changeling hesitated for only a moment, before she eagerly slipped inside the shower, and grabbed the spare brush.

"Too late!"

Ice suddenly coated the ground beneath her hooves, and before the massive changeling could steady herself she was telekinetically pulled inside by two magics. The door closed, and all they could hear was her roars of surprise.

The stallion shrugged, splashing another cupping of water on his face.

(I don't know, but, hey... more interesting than where we've been, isn't it?)

She pushed them aside, eagerly trying to peer past the glass and make sense of the roaring black shape dancing within.

They only had a second to register that before they heard what sounded like thunder above their head. It took them far longer than it should have to notice that steam had not gone away yet, and now looked distinctly darker.

Their protests and screams as the cold rain was let loose in the bathroom was met only with glee, and laughter from the pair inside. Chitania would have eagerly joined them, had she not currently been sitting crosslegged and grumpy as two eager mares went to town on her hair.

Sunset paused her assault, just long enough to grab her massive neck, and rub her cheek on the frowning chitnous one.

I dunno. Sunset's bitten the dust before, and came close to two times after that. We once stood at a crossroads where we seriously debated making Chitty kicm the can too. Sweet Note was close as well. And Flash and Fizzle aren't yet established enough.

If she was going to go down, it would've been either her first appearance, against Rarity's nuke when it was unexpected and by the last one one would think, or in her final run against all of Canterlot after running out of juice. Or against Spikezilla in order to hype his power level, I guess. Chitty actually dying would get the same result the mentor from Pommel's adventure got 'oh, it finally happened!'

Sunset would be less shocking too, because she already had a death scene and we'd wonder how she's coming back THIS time.

Sweet Note would be eye rolling. "Oh, you mean you killed off the side character to make Chitty mad? Never saw that coming!"

Flash and Fizzle, like said, aren't established enough, it wouldn't have the impact.

13 would probably have the most impact.
