I don't think there are AUs in MLP. Rather, what happens is magic is a more fundamental force of nature than gravity, and even supersedes linear causality. Time in MLP is governed by magic and works like a Word document, and you can go back and change or edit whatever you want. An actor from a timeline that no longer exists is protected from paradox in the same way as if you copied a sentence and deleted the paragraph it was in, then saved. As far as the document is concerned the paragraph doesn't exist, but the sentence you copied still does.
