Because it was a shitty fight. It's a vocal minority that likes fights because OMG LAAAASEEEERS WOOOOW. Most people enjoy pacing and build up. They like seeing the combatants get close and personal with each other. They like hard hitting brutal scenes or displays of skill and finesse. They like music that compliments the action. Twilight vs Tirek was all lasers with an unfitting score plastered over it.

That's why I don't like it when people compare that fight to DBZ. DBZ isn't all lasers, it's guys punching each other with the occasional laser. Of course the energy attacks are more effective and would be a better choice to rely on, but for all his many mistakes, even Toriyama knew people liked seeing real fighting more.
