She realizes that she lead her life in a horribly wrong way and became incredibly ashamed of her past. In addition to that, she has to cope with fears and breakdowns now that she used the avoid back in the day and snowballed out of control ever since she had her one traumatic experience as a filly.
In addition to that, during her time as a leader, she adapted horrible social skills, that make her think that it is alright to brainwash ponies to do what she wants and she has become unable to see the line of how far she can go.
She is so broken in the head she knows it, and her closest friends know it, but despite all of that, she still tries her best to become a good pony and friend to others.
I find her determination despite her constant fight with her own problems very likeable and it is nice to see her improve and better herself.
Also I can relate to her, having head problems myself.
