As for the faces, for me its not that its too big or stretched, its that they make the nose small and mouth big so that it looks like a flat (human) face, notice how almost all the faces people complain about is from the front, where its easy to loose the feeling of a muzzle. Having these kinds of big floppy mouths makes no sense. ill draw what i mean in a moment.

I thought Fluttershy verbally ripping a strip off Coach Dash was the high point of the episode. That's the problem. This concern with "meme faces" is purely a fandom-driven concern. There have always been "meme faces." In season 1 the ponies made funny faces and we made them into memes all the time. But a large part of the fun was taking something and using it for a purpose it wasn't meant for. After season 1 the show became aware of its internet popularity and this created fundamental problems for certain aspects of the fandom. Every time the characters made a silly, exaggerated face we had to wonder: was this SUPPOSED to be a meme face? Because if it was and we let it become a meme, we would no longer be anarchic cool kids co-opting something for our own purposes, but would instead be playing right into Hasbro's hands.
