It is free to use. There is a paid version that includes one of the most revolutionary features in VTT it's a light source simulator that artificially creates shadows and shit, but it's fine to play free and it's one of most popular free virtual tabletops around.

That is actually my preferred VTT, and I'm currently trying to get everything together for a ToE adventure in it. That said, it's unlikely many people would be willing to play in it, so I'm more than likely going to run ToE in roll20

I have no strong feelings one way or the other, but it's probably too little too late. I hope it's a light game though, something that can be played when drunk or otherwise intoxicated.

Hardcore fa/tg/uys will know of the fanmade Ponyfinder and Roan RPGs, but I'll still most likely get this RPG. Here's hoping they go at least a little in-depth with the setting.

I actually play DnD with a group of writefags from /mlp/. Usually we have a blast but it can get a little crazy sometimes.

I would so totally GM a pony based game, my only problem is I still haven't found an online platform I like and my IRL play group aren't really pony enthusiasts.

The system they are using looks a lot like CRAM (http://imgur.com/a/xRdx5) which is great because it makes the game entirely about role play as opposed to rule heavy games like D&D.

and yeah, D&D can get crazy sometimes
we had a small group so we had to play 2 characters at once
so I had a half human/dragon who was supposed to have been sacrificed by her tribe but escaped
a half high elf and half night elf/drow, who was heir to the throne, but was usurped by her younger sister who was full drow by slitting her throat and barely survived it

they had been on adventures together before we even started the game
the half dragon was in love with her partner, but kept it a secret that got out late in the game, so... they had a "talk" in the room they were staying in at the time
suffice to say, they were a coupleafterwards

one time they had to interrogate a couple of employees at a porn shop (which was actually an entrance to a cult they had been following for a while)
there was horse porn on the racks not far away

she threw a knife for a reason and it stuck in a video that had a horse dong on the cover
so, as she went to grab it, she tilted her head, following the horse dong, saying in a questioning tone at the same time, "horses?"
you had to be there, but we all fucking cracked up and couldn't play for several minutes because of the timing from the rest of the situation when that happened

I also played a doctor who was obsessed with explosives
he must have nearly killed the party a dozen times (the dice really hated that character)

I remember back in high school I would play with a group of friends.
One night a guy was trying to inspect a door

The DM decides that he now thinks that the door is a wall.
He then decides to inspect the "wall"

Now he is stuck in the room until one of us helped him.
We didn't for about half an hour.

Change the character sheet up a bit and it would make a good oc reference sheet

I remember I was playing a Cleric once with substance abuse problems and a weakness for women, After a quick scuttle with a halfling I was wandering around town the next day when the gestation period on my std ran out and I started itching from crabs.
Not thinking I immediately rolled my heal check as I got +20 to it and smugly enjoyed dodging the DM's little trap. The DM then pointed out that I had just dropped my pants in the middle of the street and sprayed my junk with pesticide much to the horror of the populace.

Then there was the time he took drugs and blacked out, the DM decided to have him brew up a bunch of cow aphrodisiacs and plant them in everyone's gear so we ended being chased out of town by a stampede of cattle.

my explosive doctor took a lot of risks
nearly blew us up on a boat we stole in the first session, then sank the boat we were trying to capture
stuck lit dynamite up a guys ass because he wouldn't give us info (it was fake, but HE didn't know)
blew up my own lab twice, nearly destroyed the vehicle we were in by tossing a thermite grenade at the were wolf we were chasing (it was his from a disarmed trap)
blew up 2 buildings, a UFO, and a water elemental used my own motorcycle as a melee weapon against me
there's more, but it's all I can remember atm

it didn't help that the GM never reprimanded our characters, nor allow them to be killed

another game had a werewolf and werewolf hunter in the party
the werewolf accidentally (through their base doctor) infected the hunter and by the time they found out, it was too late
I was the GM so the werewolf and doctor were my npcs

all this talk really makes me wanna play D&D/D20Modern again, or at least the fun in creating characters again

my first character ever was melee and he was introduced into the party by being rescued by them because he was captured and trussed up like a turkey (turkey boots and all) for the zombies that were about to feast on him
the smartass of the group (in party and irl) decided to call my character Snack, and it fucking stuck
I never was able to do anything cool enough to get rid of the nickname, they always backfired
the only thing he did that was cool, was when he learned intimidation from an ancient dragon, then used it on a troll that was going to rat us out to the cops, it was like the only two times I ever rolled a natural 20
the GM felt that natural 1's or 20's deserved something special when they happen

I'm currently playing a game where I play as a female Half-Elf Cleric. Her past is riddled with tragic cliches: dead parents, lots of blood, father figures taking advantage of her, etc. Eventually at a young age she runs off and becomes a sailor.

The campaign we are playing now essentially has us be pirates. Being a Cleric with a sailing background I soon became the ship's surgeon. Thingis, despite having healing spells at my disposal, I prefer to using my healing skill and hack off body parts, use rum as an anestethic, you know, like actual old fashioned naval surgeon things. I was a noob to the game so I jokingly created an NPC simply named "Old Man" who's sole purpose was to help me make decisions. Eventually, my reliance on Old Man had him playing a larger and larger role in the game. The DM has tried many times to kill Old Man by having him perform crazy, life threatening actions. But he survived each one. Old Man has many times singlehandedly saved the day with bold and courageous actions. He has become a legend so much so that my Cleric has foresaken her former God and adopted Old Man as her new savior. I am currently writing his legend and preaching his name in-game.
