Last time on HQ...

Shei took a long detour through the garden instead of going to Mudi, believing that her capture of his gigginox was a mere game and test, common among occultist social circles. Flaming, who went into the garden to contact Ecclesia by conch and inform them of the plan, joined him, and together they met Little Journey, Vortigern and a dragon named _____, supporters of Buiwong who were also helping Mudi.

Amy's conversation with Vizsla and Mudi continued. They discussed the logistics of getting into Tartarus, particularly with how Mudi will have to be moved in a snowglobe which Vizsla recently vomited up. Vizsla's sudden earnestness with helping the mission gave Mudi pause, but nobody questioned it too much...

Meanwhile in the Velvet Vimana, the silver eye finally twinkled. The code phrase included with Sugar's music box had been describing the chiming of the bell in the Twinkling Belfry, a signal that the angels were coming to rescue all the mortals who had been secretly gathering in the Crystal Workshop, awaiting salvation. Many demons rushed into the Velvet Vimana at the sound of the bell, but were effortlessly slaughtered by a great number of explosive javelins launched by the angels from the Birdcage.

Vortigern nudges the both of you into the cottage through the back door, leading into a room with many hoof-made arts and crafts, wrought from dead things and destroyed technology. Her hooves feel cold and distant as they rustle through your hair comfortingly. You hear Mudi, Vizsla, Amy and the others speaking in the adjacent room, just through the doorway.

(1/2)
>>
>>29057976
"A pity you must shepherd such a wild and easily-distracted batch of children," Vizsla laughs. "I'd not have the patience for any of it. How's about we make a Shei souffle?"

"Vizzy..." Mudi sighs with annoyance.

Vizsla giggles hungrily. "Yes, yes, you moody little filly. As the minotaur mentioned, t'would be a thing of folly to rush right into Fantasia immediately to pillage Tartarus. Doubtless such a thing will stir the attention of the entire region. What I suggest we do is at least inform the mortals and the nearby demon lords of Mariposa of the plan.

"The angels will not approve no matter what we do. Yet, the demon lords MIGHT listen to us, especially as I am dating one of their number. If they do not agree to directly help us, we might at least get them to agree to protect us from whatever demons on the surface try to attack us at our vulnerable moment. Finally, this Ecclesia, as well as many other smaller groups of survivors will tremble at the thought of a mortal-demon alliance. I don't plan to stop even if they swear to kill us all, but your allegiances to Ecclesia may pose a problem. They could brand you terrorists and traitors if you do not at least inform them of the idea. They barely have enough power to defend themselves, let alone kill us, but you never know how bloodthirsty a cornered possum may be."

"Quite true," Hope says grouchily, finally speaking up from the corner where he stands. "Go ahead, enlighten me of your sales pitch to mortalkind about sewin' up the wounds and establishing some kinda 'peace'. With a demon-humping witch at the helm. I should trust you... why?"
>>
>>29057959
The breezie banker and her bodyguards reappear at the mention of your banking number. "Hello, mister Spice," the central one says. "Very good to see you again! We've processed your request, and it seems that one Sugar, as well as a stallion named Neither-Nor have been sighted in the Birdcage, accompanied by four hunters, all female!"
>>
>>29057976
>>29058127
After answering any questions you might have, Vizsla stands and walks to the door. She opens it, revealing a frozen wasteland rather than the cartoonish world. "We've spent quite a bit of time here anyway, so why don't I go on ahead and inform the lords that we'll be speaking with them shortly? Be back in half a shake!"

She shuts the door, vanishing.
>>
>>29058127

"You should trust me because I want peace," Amy says to Hope with a smile. "Everyone else is just killing each other."

"I'll convince everyone to stop hating each other, no matter how long it takes. Everyone," Amy repeats the word, looking to Mudi and Vizsla briefly.

>>29058168

Amy stares at the door that Vizsla just disappeared through and blinks. She turns to Mudi and points at the door like a curious child. "How did she do that?"
>>
>>29058163
"It's Pryce."
Pryce mutters to correct. As they follow with the news, his face brightens up with hope at having a location, but dread quickly follows suit.
"I-In the Birdcage? That Birdcage, up there?"
He repeats, pointing up at the towering structure surrounded by rust for confirmation.

"Do you... know who these hunters are, or would that charge me extra?"
Pryce adds on after, voice filled with worry.
>>
>>29058119
>>29058127
As Vortigern ferries them into the cottage again, looking around at all the many arts/crafts littered about the room on display, she gives a rough pull away from the Pegasi's cold touch, not keen on being pushed around as she stares daggers at Little Journey, silently mumbling, "I wouldn't go on a run with a calf like you if you were the last one on the plains... and Hearts and Horns Day should be..." she pauses, "I... I actually can't remember. What's today?"

As he mentioned the buffalo being pushed north-west wards, she pauses, looking at him in surprise. "W-wait.... they fled to the northwest? I-I thought they fled AWAY from me when I got separated. They're in this part of the continent?"

>Moving on with them into the chamber of Mudi/Viszla/Amy
>>
>>29058192
"Right now I'm feelin' like trustin' ya just because ya seem too simple to lie, lassie," Hope chuckles, tapping at the burnt half of his face in thought. "Right... peace. That's all you want. An end to all the killin' and brutality."

"Will you repeat the entire conversation?" Rus asks sarcastically.

"Just chewin' the idea," Hope says. "But it's simple enough for me... yeah, I'll stay out yer way. Hell, I'll toss in a voucher for Ecclesia as well. Doubtless they've put a fat bounty on me, as I've found myself the leader of quite a lot of bloodthirsty hunters and cooperative demons in recent time."

"I don't know. I've never seen her cast a spell that powerful," Mudi says with a little worry.

>>29058204
"Aw... you look like you could be a challenge to race. The Second Dance is coming up in thirty-eight days exactly."

"Our people left much later than other groups fleeing Accorsia, but even though this should have resulted in our demise, Buiwong protected the faithful, unlike the Devas."

You enter the room, seeing Mudi and Amy speak with Hope.

>>29058197
"We don't have them in our records, but for a teensy little price increase, we can open up a wind tunnel that can take your right up there, out of range of their javelins."

"I ain't goin'," Wireframe says. "I ain't havin' shit to do with the angels, and River will need someone to protect her. It's you, Zjetya and the squirt."

Zjetya nods. "I know we haven't had much practice with that song thing of yours, but maybe my experience in singing will let us harness some of it if we put our brains together and cooperate in the casting."
>Songspinning is available with Zjetya's help, at the cost of a +1 increase to DC.
>>
>>29058127
Shei-Sher enters the cabin with Shorthorns and their escorts. Shei tacks on a comment to Hope's inquiry "I too am interested in hearing this 'sales-pitch.'"

Shei-Sher eyes Mudy cautiously
>>
>>29058291
[theres my name]
>>
>>29058291
When you enter the crowded, fairy tale-esque cottage room, Mudi is the only one who looks remotely real, although her body is covered with a scratchy, drawing-like filter. Everyone from the Witch-team besides Blessings is there. Hope is an old pegasus stallion with a large burn coating the left half of his face.

"There you are," Mudi says distractedly, her mind obviously preoccupied with other means. "Do you want the gigginox or not? We're off to go speak with the local demon lords about not getting in the way when we go to Tartarus."
>>
>>29058260
Flaming blows out a puff of hair out of her face. "Be too much for you, with that thick as syrup coat weighing you down. That has Sinking Rain tattooed all over it."

"So... Buiwong protected MY clan?" she puts an extra emphasis on the 'my'. "I wouldn't believe it if I saw his stripes with my own eyes. Where are they now then?"

>>29058260
>>29058192
As Mudi and Amy speak, Shorty returns in with the others following behind, "I'm back. Where did you guys get to? We have some sort of plan yet?"
>>
>>29058260

"Thank you, Hope," Amy says with a smile and a tail wag, taking it all as a compliment. "That means a lot."

Then, Amy turns to Mudi, giving the door one last quick glance to make sure no one is coming through it. "Well, now that she's gone, I want to talk about her. I don't like talking about ponies behind their backs, but she says a lot of mean things then laughs about them. Please don't let her get in your head," Amy says to Mudi warmly.

"I can tell that you are like me... at least a little bit. You just want everyone to be happy. The demons included. So, if this works, don't be mean to the demons - or anyone else. Don't let her get in your head."

>>29058332

"We should probably talk to Ecclessia before we do anything else," Amy says with startling clarity, even getting names right.

>>29058291

When yet another person sounds disapproving of the plan, Amy looks over angrily to see who it is, then sees that it is Shei. She had opened her mouth to speak, but now it just hangs open awkwardly. She quickly looks back to Mudi across the table awkwardly.
>>
>>29058350
Flaming flaps her ears down, "I tried to get into contact with Ichimonji but, she's been harder to contact lately..." she says with a slight bit of shame, thinking back to what Laciela said about her having a 'mother' complex.

"I talked to both of the Princesses about it though. I... I didn't tell them all the details but they say Ichimonji probably wouldn't like the idea. They said Galton would like that idea a lot more though and we should at least try talking to her about it."

She whispers, "I think Galton might have something to do with the whole 'Laciela' wing thing Mudi has though... Laciela says she remembers her wing got really hurt during her escape from Mariposa but, Galton patched it up after they found her."
>>
>>29058319
>Do you want the gigginox or not?
Shei-Sher appears dumbfounded "You would just relinquish him to me?"
>>
>>29058350
Shei occupies himself with Mudi, not even turning eye to Amy. He feels equally as awkward in Amy's presence.
>>
>>29058364

Amy sighs. "Yeah... I wouldn't expect them to approve right away. But, there's no harm in trying to convince them. And trying again. And again. And again," Amy says resolutely.

"I mean, as long as you don't consider being annoyed a problem," she laughs.
>>
>>29058429
"Ecclessia is a preeeeeetty busy group. They might not appreciate it. But, I doubt they'd do anything to stop you from at least asking."
>>
>>29058332
"As I said, the territory of Amlapura is very far south from here, nestled securely in jagged badlands with the mountains surrounding Nibbuta's perimeter at their back. OUR people should be safe. We should set aside a time to discuss this further. Oh! Perhaps we could find a river to clean up in together?"

>>29058350
With a nod to you and Flow, Hope steps out of the cottage. Mudi rolls her eyes like a beleaguered little sister. "I've known what you mean for a hundred years yet. She is she, and I'm me. I'll do what I have to to keep the peace, but unfortunately that means exerting a powerful presence. Meaning some demons will have to die if they challenge me. Strength which exceeds theirs is the only thing that a lot of demons respect."

>>29058374
Mudi looks at you with a lot of annoyance. "You're trying my patience, kid. And can I taste the remnants of a mind control spell on you? The one thing I challenged you to not use?" she asks, disappointed. "If you hadn't taken so long trying to smell the flowers, you'd have known we're talking about something much much bigger than any of us."

>>29058364
>>29058374
>>29058350
After a little while, the door to the cottage opens again, revealing the frozen landscape. Vizsla stands there, holding out a snowglobe, which she tosses to Mudi. "Are you ready? Our meeting is set to commence in just a little bit. Mudi shall be brought along separately by sweet little Bosta. The rest of you, hang on tightly to this," she says. She passes along a very long coarse black string for each of you to hold onto.

Busta gulps, dodging Vizsla's gaze. Rus, Onion and Renee gather their belongings, while Blessings comes downstairs, avoiding Mudi's gaze. Mudi stares at Blessings somewhat regretfully. Box swallows up the sleeping Farm.
>>
>>29058420
As Shei shies out away from Amy, Flaming huffs and gives his haunch a small jab with her hind-leg. "Well?" she whispers very quietly.
>>
>>29058364
"I am reaching for the cliffnotes on this alliance we are establishing, but considering last we saw Ichimonji we were ushering a small horde of demon-afflicted ponies and I made some gross trespasses within their camp. They are aware of the kind of people you run with. And Ichimonji can be quite the scary character pony."
>>
>>29058462

"I understand," Amy nods to Mudi. "I've had to kill ponies and demons since this all started. All you can do is try your hardest to convince people to be better. But, you can't let that put others in danger. If someone won't listen, you have to do something."

Amy sighs. "I just wish I was strong enough to beat them without killing them. Then, they'd definitely listen."

>>29058474

"That's stupid," Amy blurts out angrily. "They don't like who we are with because we like to help ponies who are in trouble? Ichimonji said she wants to help everyone. That's what I want to do. If she wants what she says, she'll listen!"

As she finishes yelling, she looks down at the table, blushing. "I-I'm sorry..." she stammers. "For throwing up on you..."
>>
>>29057949
>4. No roleplay.
>>
>>29058462

Amy grabs the string without a second thought.

"Wait..." Amy says as everyone is set to go. "Where are we going again?"
>>
>>29058462
"I will not cease using something beholden to me by a dear friend. Especially on the grounds of a threat. Please, excuse me for not wishing to enter the lion's den." Shei in steadfast in his statement.

>>29058462
Shei-Sher grabs the black string with one hoof.
>Are you ready?
"I am teetering off the edge of my seat." He says sarcastically. Apparently in a bad mood.

>>29058464
"They're just acquaintances" Shei says agitated. He skirts the question, instead assuming she means the buffalo she was talking to.
>>
>>29058462
Flaming looks down at the ground, thinking about the prospect of Amalpura. "That's... not in the direction of where we're supposed to go next." She says ruefully, shaking her head. "I... yeah. Okay, we'll talk about it later when we get the chance. You are showing me where it is on a map." She scowls at him, not yet over the Buiwong worship. "No thank you. I don't want to get spiders in my fur."

>>29058462
"Actually, he's 'Busta' now." Flaming corrects Vizsla, before looking at the snowglobe in confusion as it's passed to Mudi, but figures to ask later what it's for.

She smiles, "Oh! You're taking us to the Birdcage, thank you..." she states, quickly grabbing on to the black string before she stares back at Blessings, looking on at her with a sad gaze. She wished she had time to talk, but offers her a piece of her string to hold onto as well, as if just to offer anything to take her mind off of Mudi's hut.

>>29058474
"Ichimonji is definitely a little scary but, she can be understanding. It doesn't hurt to at least talk to her about it."
>>
>>29058260
Pryce looks between Wireframe and Zjetya as yhey chime in.
"Alright, I wouldn't ask any of you to come if you don't want. And we'd need somepony to stay back for Volkama either way. Even without his injury, they wouldn't take his demon-ness well."
Pryce reaches into his robe to pull out the green flare he conjured before at the inn. He hands it over to Wireframe.
"Here, it was originally to signal if we found Sugar, but use this if you guys get in trouble."
Pryce looks over to River.
"You can use that gate thing to get you all back to the ship, or even back to Zha if you're in trouble, right?"

Pryce looks to Zjetya and nods.
"Right, should be enough to let us track Sugar down."
He turns to Spitshine.
"Are you ready for this?"

Pryce looks to the breezies.
"Please do, I don't think we could handle another trek through the demons. And, is there a better way to contact you about this payment after this is all done. I only have one candy, and they're supposed to be for emergencies..."

"I said I forgave you already." Shei says quickly without room for sincerity and just as promptly he changes the subject back to Ichimonji "Even so we should operate with some tact. Less Ecclessia declare war on our small renegade of compatriots. Galton seems more open minded to such things. Gegenschein would also be a fine person to speak the matter with."
>>
>>29058601

"But... so..." Amy struggles to get words out. "Are we... still... a thing?" she asks, scared to look Shei in the eyes, not acknowledging anything else said.
>>
>>29058641
Shei-Sher scratches the back of his head, he soon averts his gaze from Amy. He is visibly uncomfortable "Could we -talk about this later?"
>>
>>29058552
"You can't catch the lion's cub if you don't enter its den," Mudi says. "Take your precious gigginox if you'd like, but know you failed to prove your mettle as a proper caster."

You notice her wink at Amy.

>>29058554
Journey nods pleasantly, not bothered by the remark about spiders.

>>29058554
"I'm not taking you up there personally. In order to weigh the scales in your favor at the meeting, I'll have to remain sewn to Imaal's hip. Yet, I shall provide a means for you to enter the Birdcage, by yourself or with others if you wish," Vizsla says.

>>29058543
"Ordinarily their meetings are conducted in the luxury of the Mind Vimana. Yet, because the Mind Vimana has been stolen by the angels into the Birdcage, we will have to relocate to a much nicer spot: the Windhill, in the nearby Coppice Vimana," Vizsla explains.

Mudi winks at you after chewing out Shei.

>>29058556
Spitshine nods, hopping on your back with dagger drawn.

"Nope, just recite your number and think money-related thoughts. Rub two coins together if that does not work," the banker says.

Far above you, on the near side of the Birdcage, you spy a tiny circle of wind blowing a hole in the rust-colored cloud. It's too far away to see clearly, but you see a kind of faint buzzing around the hole, like a heat shimmer on a hot day.

Everyone clutches the black string, heading out into the frozen wasteland. It very quickly becomes impossible to see more than a few inches before you as the winds howl and toss about snow, but the black string keeps you warm and insulated. In the distance, you see doors all around you on all sides, even in the sky and in the ground, fading in and out of sight as the storm rages. Soon you reach a large stone door which Vizsla kicks open.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ocYgD2CrG28

You emerge in a stone castle, well-furnished, lit and filled with looted treasures and warm clothing. The castle is peopled with Farms, walking about dizzily with gems in their heads as they go about their business. Vizsla leads you through the castle's halls, all while chatting inanely about her special somepony Imaal. Mostly details about what he likes to eat.

(2/3)
>>
Vizsla brings you to a large ivory meeting chamber with exotic obsidian furniture. At the center of the room sits an amorphous table with many chairs. Seated there are five demons, with only two chairs open, presumably for Amy and Vizsla.

One demon is a floating collection of rune-covered rocks resembling wood, which folds in on itself in complex rhythms, bound by fungal growths and flowers with dark coloration reminiscent of aposematism. Standing beside him is a female Farm wearing desert garb. Vizsla quietly introduces the demon as Count Urapth.

The next two demons share a doublewide chair. Vizsla introduces them as Big and Tall.

Big has a face halfway between a bull's and a shark's, with a fat squat body all composed of broken armor and weapons. He wears a caricature of a ceremonial military suit, only his is full of holes. Through the holes one can see and hear the tittering of unstable magitech weapons and vehicles, ready to combust at the slightest sign of fire.

Tall has a beaked face halfway between a lion's and a hawk's, with his long, boa constrictor body all coiling in on itself in many knots. He wears a caricature of a ceremonial military suit, all decorated in medals, prizes and strips of banners.

Then there's Imaal, whom you recognize from the Splatterrock. He's a thin, bipedal lich-like figure with twenty arms which serve as a kind of cape, his body nothing more than tightly-knit orange crusts, with a head shaped like a broken tower, which molds into a highly deformed skull at the base.

Finally, there's Count Pravda: A very tall bipedal figure, wearing a multi-layered and complexly-folded robe woven of dark crimson and blue feathers, which stretches all the way to the ground. His "head" consists of a knot of hands all clasping one another, taking the shape of a wart-ridden rat's head with eyes of crystal.
>>
>>29058694
Shei-Sher feels Mudi stab into her pride. A deep seated anger bubbles in him as his face scrunches and compacts into an angry expression. But Shei relents from voicing it if it means he can have his pet back. He then sees her wink at Amy to which causes him to revert his gave on >>29058641 Amy questioningly.
"Keep your charity." As soon as the words leave his mouth Shei-sher immediately feels the regret sink into his stomach. "I-I'll find a way."

>>29058701
Shei's anger keeps him warm throughout the storm but that soon evaporates into astonishment as they enter the castle. Shei eyes about the area, turning his head to and fro trying to get a gander at every cranny.
Considering the sheer number of Farms Shei-Sher nervously comments "Well.. Count Imaal certainly has a large appetite."
>>
>>29058694
Pryce nods at the breezies.
"Alright, see you soon I suppose."

He looks to those staying behind.
"We'll head right here after this is done, and then to the ship if you left. Stay safe, all of you."

Pryce wobbles a bit as Spitshine hops on him, still a little worn from the day.
"Hold on tight, might be a bumpy ride."
He looks up a he hole forming in the rust barrier, then lowers his head to Zjetya.
"Let's get moving."
Pryce says with some nervousness, wings spanning out as he readies to fly.
>Flight [1d10+1]
>>
>>29058668

"No," Amy says, looking Shei directly in the eyes. "I'm sorry, but I can't wait. I need to know. I've been waiting all this time letting all the regret eat up at me. Please, just talk to me."

(presumably, the conversation happens as they walk)

>>29058694

Amy chuckles slightly at Mudi.

>>29058718

Amy walks into the room and looks at all the demons. "Ooooh," she says, admiring them. "You're all so cool looking! Howdy, new friends. My name's Amy Thest."

She completely doesn't get the hint and doesn't sit in the chair.
>>
>>29058694
She grimaces at the young, unperturbed buffalo. "...don't go anywhere, soon as we're done I have more questions."

>>29058701
As they arrive in the stone castle, Flaming looks around at the poor Farms gathered all around her, scowling at the thought of her 'hubby' enjoying their flesh over and over as simple fodder. "Please, let's... not talk about that."

As they reach the table and look on at the collection of demons, she looks in shock at their bizarre appearances (particularly Big and Tall's), before her eyes focused on Count Pravda, in her opinion the most disturbing of the bunch by far with his rat-like head and many clasping hands.

She looks over at Amy and Viszla, staying close to Rus Tea as she looks on at Viszla unexpectedly. Her fear of the mighty Counts before her, she stammers, "T-these are the counts, huh? They don't look so t-tough. You're going to ask them if they can bring us into the Birdcage?"
>>
>>29058851
>>29058840
>>29058830
Flaming pauses to look at Amy and Shei, pulling slightly on Amy's tail and looking directly at Shei to pull their attention away, "Amy, Shei... you two have this covered? I think I should look into the Birdcage next while I have the chance. It's part of the whole reason we're here. I'll be back as soon as I can, I promise."

She looks up to Vizsla, giving a worried glances towards the demons before asking, "If you can send me on my way there, I'd appreciate it. My friends can do this on their own."

As you and Zjetya fly up through the hole, you notice its entrance is guarded closely by the rust-colored butterflies that accompanied the Bodhidharma. Yet, this time they pass to let you through, unharmed.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dOFd-blyVS0

The Birdcage is a beautiful sunset-orange on the inside. Upon a sea of clouds rests an entire Vimana, mostly intact structurally, but devoid of any sapient life. While the other lords seem content to merely size you up, Big and Tall share a laugh and flood the table with tiny model golems, which begin a mock battle.

"Chahahahahah!" Big laughs. "What scrappy little pipsqueaks you are! You'd be much beefier in my demonic army!"
"Dehehehehehe," Tall snickers. "You want to go into Tartarus with wrists and biceps as skinny as yours? Why should we help on that front?"

"I've told them very little of the plan," Vizsla says, "Aside from the general details. Lay out exactly what you want with them, and be ever so careful in your word choice. These are the kinds of demons to be sticklers about every word in the contract. Be veeeery careful or it'll bite your ass down the line," she says with serious concern.

Vizsla gives you a snowball from her pocket and sends you out to the castle's front door, which is a bare mountainpeak. The snowball quickly breaks like an egg, resulting in a small chariot which is pulled by a ghostly abominable snow chimera. Renee and Rus Tea board the chariot, shivering in anticipation. "What's the plan when we get there?"

As Vizsla hands her the snowy egg, she bows her head in respect, thanking her silently as she flees to the front to watch the chariot appear before her eyes. Looking at its reins, she steadily boards the ghostly vehicle before Renee and Rus Tea follow suit, giving them a quick snap of the ropes to somehow alert the chimera to go.

"I'm... not really sure I have one yet, to be honest but I think I know the basics. We just need to somehow settle this dispute they are having with Miracles and ensure that another angel will NEVER attack Zha Arlakane. Shouldn't be TOO hard, right?" She says with some lack of confidence herself.

She shivers and shakes. "Better than being stuck back in Mudi's weird world."

"Since the day I met you I have always criticized you on your capacity for self-control. To which I've learned you reserve none when considering my interests. I do not think I overreacted in the cafe. That was the perfect reaction when your date foregos eating icecream with you to instead indulge in a stranger's confections, within the darkness of a backstage floor. It would be like if I invited you to watch a play with me and then a second before we gain tickets for seating I decide I'd rather watch the show with a stranger you've never met before.I will admit it was a minor lack of inconsideration and control. Just enough to drive my insecurities. If I am not even able to share some bug infested icecream with you than how am I ever to expect we seriously be involved with eachother! That was what I asked myself. It would have fizzled away if you had just only talked the matter out with me but instead you expelled bile all over me for voicing my feelings on the matter! What kind of girlfriend does that! I know you harbor an evil spirit that influences you but that is no excuse! It wouldn't be any different if you gave into peer pressure from an old friend." Shei-Sher finally finishes punching into the air with his free hoof just as he finishes his exuberant tirade.

Pryce's body is tense in worry as they approach the Birdcage, worry of what lies inside, or if they'd even make it. He feels relief as nothing approaches them and they enter with ease, and he hangs hovering as the sights inside meet his eyes. An antithesis to the rust shell covering it, and the city lying down below. If it wasn't for his past experiences with the denizens that la claim here, he'd find it peaceful.

"Let's try that song, before anything notices us. The easier it is to move here, the better."
He says to Zjetya, pulling the Moonlight amulet out from under his robe.
"Ready?"
He questions with a little anxiety, hoping this works to ease their search for Sugar among the angels.

Amy listens to everything Shei has to say. Though, many of his words hurt her, shocking even herself, she doesn't cry. Maybe it's because this situation is so familiar to her. People rarely find it in their heart to forgive her.

"I understand," Amy says with a sigh. Her heart sinks into her stomach, and she feels queasy, but still she doesn't cry. "Everything you've said is absolutely right. I forgive you for not helping me. You were right not to."

Then, an iota of hope wells up in Amy. And, with it comes tears in her eyes. "But, Shei... I feel like you need to hear this. If I can't say it as your girlfriend, then I'll at least say it as your friend. You hold grudges way too much. I get not wanting to forgive ponies, trust me. I get it a lot. But, I keep watching you hurt yourself just to hold on to hatreds that just don't matter."

"If you don't care about me any more, that's fine," Amy says choking up a bit. "But, I love you too much to just keep watching you hurt yourself. So, please think about-"

Amy cuts herself off as she realizes what she said. She stares at Shei wide-eyed for a moment. Her face turns red, still void of expression other than her wide eyes. However, as they arrive at their destination, she quickly turns away, not saying anything else.

"We're gonna attack Tartar Sauce!" Amy says with a bizarre sort of peppy excitement for the situation. "The plan is to have Moody to get across a flower field and into The Infinity Pool," Amy says, completely making the names up at this point.

"Then, she's gonna be the new king of demons! Or... Queen, I guess? Either way, I'm sure a lot of demons won't like it. They'll probably attack us. Then, they'll die. That probably includes the Accuser. I'm sure you'd all like to have a shot at killing him, right?"

"But, even if the Accuser himself doesn't fight, any demon who thinks he has a shot at being in charge is going to fight us. And, that means a looooot of high ranking demons are gonna die. If you're in on our plan, that means you get to prove you're stronger than them. Even if we fail, if you're in on our plan, you'll definitely rise up the demon chain of command," Amy says with an assured nod.

You ascend and steer south, with Renee and Rus exchanging nervous glances. The bloated Birdcage is extremely easy to reach, as it's grown so large and floats over so much of the city. Having remained with Hope as he claimed to Amy that he believed her, you and all the other inhabitants of the cartoonish world are forced abruptly back into the real world. Your eyes adjust just in time to see the destabilizing image of Mudi vanish into a small snowglobe, given to her by Vizsla. The snowglobe is caught by a human-sized fly demon, whom the others referred to as Busta. All around you, all the ponies who were in the cartoonish town, without a care, begin to panic, but several demons rise up, apparently serving Mudi. They begin to corral the ponies peacefully into the buildings.

"Well lad..." Hope says, finally sighing with relief as the fly demon buzzes off. "I think we may have found our mark. You saw that, right? With the blank bounty posters? Check them now." He shows you all his bounty posters: Not a single one of them is blank. However, after a few minutes, they fade again, becoming blank, and you cannot remember what the bounties were.

The demon lords tense up at the mention of the Accuser. Soon they all bicker, talking over one another repeatedly, with only a care for hearing the sounds of their own voices. Vizsla goes and sits upon Imaal's lap, stroking at his cheek seductively.

"And what is in this 'Infinity Pool' that would rocket this upstart of a witch to kinghood?" Count Pravda asks, scowling as he spreads warrior-vermin across the table, swarming Big and Tall's golems. "For what purpose would we allow her to attain such a title, when we could easily snatch it up for ourselves?"
"And why has no Umbral from Tartarus gone into the pool yet if it's so powerful?" Tall adds.

Amy realizes she should actually put some effort into remembering things right now. She screws her face up in thought as she tries to replay the conversation that happened in her head.

"Okay, it's actually called the Momentary Lake and it's in the Soteiro Field," Amy says, looking up at the ceiling as if to obtain confirmation that she said it right. She hopes that elicits more of an actually knowledgeable response from the demons.

"From what I've been told, the Soteiro Fields make anyone who enters them not want anything. So, they just sort of fall over and lay there until they die. So, the only way we can get through is to find someone who is enlightened enough to not want anything already. But, if you can think of another way through, that'd be neat too."

"I think that Soteiro Field is the biggest reason no one has used the Momentary Lake. But... Moody wasn't clear on why SHE has to be the one to use it. She just said she was the strongest."

"As for why none of YOU can use it..." Amy says, putting a kind but threatening smile on her face. "Well... to be frank... I won't let you."

Amy stops walking, frozen in place.

She turns to Shei, tears now streaming down her face. "Y-you do?" she asks with barely contained joy.

Before Shei can answer, she picks him up and embraces him, then kisses him on the lips. At first, it seems the kiss will last but a moment, but then she doesn't stop. It approaches awkwardly long territory. Then, she suddenly stops. She pulls back and looks at Shei with a confused expression.

"You require the impossible, for even the grasses and the rocks hold desire. "How can you ask us to sponsor such an implausibility?"

"Why, we hardly know how complete the information on Tartarus is that my dear sister uncovered," Vizsla adds. "We know the Field was engineered to keep the Umbrals from accessing the Lake. If it was engineered, surely it can be un-engineered and taken apart as well. Or, just as the mason builds a door in the wall of his fortress, so too is it likely that the meddlesome Sons allowed themselves a spot to wiggle through."

"If Mudi does anything that we all can agree is bad for all of us, then I'll kill her myself," Amy says simply. "And, if I can't do it alone, then I'll get help from whoever I need to. That might include you. But, there's no need to touch the Lake to do that. Teamwork is better than that."

>Would you prefer to starve in the desert or fall into a den of manticores? I've led ponies to death with lies about both!

"Why?" Amy asks like a child out of genuine curiosity, cocking her head.

"Y-you don't know where Tartarus is?" Amy responds to Tall, actually a little dumbfounded.

"I couldn't answer that question anyway," Amy says to Shei and out loud to the demons. "I have no idea where it either," she says completely truthfully with a laugh.

"I just figured, you know, what kind of demon WOULDN'T know where Tartarus is?" Amy continues to laugh at the ignorance of the demons.

[1d10] to be convincing about touching the Momentary Lake being unnecessary with compassion

Flow smirks at Hope as he leaves.
"Aye sonny, I'd be appy' to give em a violent show."

He lets out a sigh as Hope leaves, and stands next to the pterodactyl left behind.
"Ah bloody ell...where to start?"
He gets on top of the pterodactyl, and sits on it, confused.

"Uh...you alright, mate? You know where the uh...the Windhill is, eh? Wot about the Birdcage? Let's go there, eh?"

Shei looks perplexed "Well we must gain their favor somehow. Without, I doubt we would last a minute in Tartarus"

"Appeal to their kinder nature," Amy says completely unironically.

Shei just makes a face. He wants to think she's being sarcastic.

You lead the way over the sleeping angel without disturbing it. This lower level continues in a long hallway format, with many scorch marks all along the ground. In the center of the ground ahead, you see a very tall and wide metallic rosebush (30 feet in all directions), broken and mangled, shedding metallic feathers all over the place. Angels pick over it like insects, nibbling at it. Atop the bush rests a twisted, blackened hunk of metal, melted and yanked apart in places like a bit of carrion. A circular emptiness in the middle of its body suggests that there was supposed to be a wheel there, but its sparking metal guts suggest that said wheel had been ripped straight out.

The hallway becomes a T-intersection at the end, with a left and right branch.

"Such a thing shall not occur again," the angel intones, its voice a mass of male voices. The loudest voice speaks in Neighsco, but the quieter voices repeat it in Equish as a translation. "For the deviant who sought presumptuously to awake the Bodhidharma with the Vipaka's spirit has been caged."

"You're with Ecclesia too, aren't you?" the blue Yagi says. "Hey, hold that thought, do you have time to spar?" she asks, pounding her angelic prosthetic chest eagerly.

One of Big's toy golems slaps your elbow, shaking its head disapprovingly at your bad manners.

The pterodactyl takes off with a mighty caw.

"Yeah, Tall, you big fat stupid!" Big laughs. "What demon dunno where the entrance to Tartarus is? It's basic demon history for anyone with roots in this region!"
"You don't know what old god's up to down there. After the Emptying, he could have decided to relocate, perhaps even to another World, or tried to devour a little more of this World with another entrance, swindling a new group of do-gooders with fanciful tales."

"You need to make up your minds about whether you'll put up a fight when we take the Lake," Pravda says. "Not that I mind either way. Been a while since I directly splattered some upstart all over the walls myself."

"You shall give us time to convene and discuss this matter as lords. Alone," Imaal says, affectionately patting Vizsla's head.

"But before you go... I have something to grant the half-fused if she will have it," Urapth's Farm says for him. "Both a show of good faith and a piece of the Tartartian history she seems so curious to explore."
