Well being scared away from /mlp/ makes sense. Ultimately this is still 4chan. You need thick skin. /mlp/ used to be a melting pot of all board cultures and it was special. It's annoying when newfags make it what it wasnt. Every month it becomes more like leddit. Somewhere along the line someone convinced the newfags trolling your own board was how you get kicks. This is why we tell you to lurk, but lurking is moot when the board represents neo-mlp. Anyway, /mlp/ is the nicest of 4chan except maybe /ck/, those guys are always nice. Unfortunately most other brony groups are hugboxes and annoying. I was more curious how people get into mlp at all this late in the game.

What changed. Where to start. Old mlp was more cynical, ironic. Being counter culture was part if it all. It's hard to explain what we where without just pointing what we did. But to contrast, here is what neo-mlp does wrong. They spam and raid their own board. They can shit where they sleep because half of them are from other sites. Spamming glimglam for example, we would do similar things to other boards or sites and make them mad instead. We used to be a toxic group but not to eachother. It was so much more fun to laugh together then at eachother.

When the pony thread simulator started we got an influx of shit posters who would just post things they saw in there. Mindlessly spouting maymays but didn't understand the meaning or proper time to use them. Everything became unoriginal.

Each time eqd posts about us we get an influx of new people who try and act like us but then become bleeding hearts once something mean is posted.

I'll be honest, I've never had the heart to be mean myself. But I wasn't a white Knight sjw either. I tend to write mean things and delete them because I can't help but remember that's a real person. I remember one time I really dug into someone here a few years ago and got him to actually break down. I felt actually bad about it.

The loss of board culture is all over 4chan. I'd say the best way to see what /mlp/ lost is to see other boards.

I never knew anybody who watched the show until I started seeking them out, and it didn't air on any television channels I watched back when I was into cable. I saw some Youtube documentaries on Bronies after seeing ShellyD's video on clopping, and a few months later I checked the show out on Netflix.
