Over the last few weeks I have been considering to make a new /mlp/craft server, since I don't have much else to do in the vecation.
First I wanted to know what people would be interested in seeing in a new /mlp/craft server though. I have been working on a list of mods that might make things more interesting, but before I start working on the actual mod pack I wanted to make sure this would be something people might actually be interested in.

Every time we try this it goes the same.
People join, it seems fun for a week or two, then everyone blows themselves or eachother up.
Then people get bored or get too busy to bother showing up more.

Man, if we're gonna do some kind of PVP server again (which I'm totally fine with), we seriously need to implement 2 sides.
Someone needs to modify factions/towny/whatever so when people join, they either join team Red, or Blu. They can make their own little outposts inside their own respective team colour (so they can run themselves), but we need to stop the fifty million different factions who all want a reason to kill someone, but are all chicken shit to start stuff.
We don't have a big enough population for that. We do however have enough of a population that if we were split into 2 sides, it'd be okay. That way if someone jumps the gun, at least that idiot will have backup.
Also another important thing, stop fucking limiting things at the start. I remember we almost had a guns plugin, but it was never fucking turned on. Enable everything from the start with the exception of whatever nerfs you feel are necessary.
Lastly, a race plugin would be fun as well. Maybe something like Earth ponies increase farm growth/spawn rates in whatever chunk they're in, pegasi can jump multiple times and don't take fall damage, and unicorns have a longer reach. Switching is fine, but there's a 24 hour cooldown or something.

It's really only sustainable for a week or two of pure, uncut autism. That's why it works best over breaks like Christmas or whatever.
Since we are starting to get results I would just like to remind people that the optimal choice for a server with lots of mods would be 1.7 or 1.6. So if we do go 1.10/11 there probably won't be as many mods.

Not really. It added airships without being too overpowered.
Only problem was their super high fuel cost, which was pretty shit.

You had to click to move a single block forward. It consumed a stack of coal every 200~ blocks.
The airship had to be 80% wool, and the engine system was stupid.
There were only two sizes of airships; Under 80 blocks and over 1000 blocks.

You see I played for a really long time about a year ago on one of these servers. (I remember it had >boop near the spawn) but all anyone did was build there houses/bases and then log off.
We need more interaction between players and/or events.

It would probably be faster to name the ones that are in 1.10 rather than the ones which aren't, checked 20 of the mods and none of them are supported in 1.10.
However I'm currently considering simplifying things and making a 1.8 server with just flans and a few essentials for military warfare autism horse fun.

sponge and shit under 1.8 would work best for modded server thats recent, 1.7.10 cauldron would give you mods + bukkit but its a little old, 1.9/1.10/1.11 doesnt have much in the way of stable mod/plugin combinations so its a shit show when it comes to managing things

In all honesty this is a good idea. We just need a way to get the word out. I've seen my share of pony servers, and after the initial start they just peter out. I would play on it, but it'd just be forgotten over time.
