You struggle back up to your feet.
It seems like that only your wing was injured.
From your judgement it might be broken.
Nothing a overcharged health potion won’t fix.
You take a big jugg from it, to which your wing starts to creak and straighten itself.

Time to head back to your friends, but not without giving the thing a buck.
It staggers a little, but not long till it swings again.
This time however you are ready and dodge the crystal hoof.
“Hey, your emperor is gone, you are free to life your own life, just leave the city.”

“Well that does not sound so good.”
You fly back towards the center of the empire and quickly catch up with your friends.

“So how did they stopped the last thing?”
>Tour leader:”The prince used his tactical knowledge, coordinated the troops of the empire, and used his magic to blast it to pieces. He truly won the heart of the ponies that day.”
“Blasting them to pieces with magic? Mh, maybe I could slow it down somehow. Lanika, do you have the earth dagger with you?”
>Lanika:”Yes, I have it. Here take it.”
She gives you the dagger.

With your new weapon you head back to the creature.
You use the magic of the dagger by ramming it into the ground.
The creature’s legs sink deep into the earth, it’s movement halted.

With the thing as your captive you can talk to it a little easier.
“Hey golem, if it’s heresy that the emperor’s gone, how can there be no sign of any of his work?”
You resist to urge to tip your hat.

For a moment you consider destroying it yourself, but it might be best to reinform the guards.
You lift off and catch back with your friends.
It’s close enough to the empire so you decide to just hang out with them.
>Sachiko:”Did everyone went all right?”
“Yeah, I stalled it. We should however inform the guard.”
>Tour leader:”Don’t worry, as soon we are back at the center, I will head out and take care of it.”
The wagon stops at the center of the empire.
“So since we mist a part of the tour, is there some way to get a discount?”
>Tour leader:”Well, if you want a discount, you should ask at our office, they do that kind of stuff.”

You doubt to get any money back, but maybe they’ll let you do another one to see the rest of it.
That can wait, for now you want to sell some things.
There was a pawn shop at the shopping row, that is probably the best place to start.

You head back to your wagon and gather some things in a shopping back you still have laying around.
On the way to the pawn shop you throw away some useless and poisoned stuff.
First the rock you took from the castle of the two sisters, while it might make a nice reminder, at it’s core it’s still just a rock.
Secondly the poisoned mushroom, you hope no dumpster divers eats that.
Thirdly the vial of poisoned blood, You spill it into the dumpster and wash it out with some clear water.

At the pawn show you put your items to offer.
The figurine.

The scare shot bullets.
>?:”Mh, ammunition. Usually I buy those at stacks, but those aren’t normal bullets. I’ll give you a bit per bullet. So that would be 10 for all of them.”
The spray paint.
>?:”No, No. What am I supposed to do with half empty cans of paint that you spray on things. Wait these are edible? That is interesting, we don’T have stuff like this here in the empire. 20 bits per can.”

Now you can go shopping.
You wonder if this guy has any filly dresses to sell, maybe Sako can help you to pick a good looking one.
“Excuse me do you have any dresses for fillies?”

Through the translucent crystals you see him open a box and pull out some cloths.
>Sachiko:”You don’t really want to buy a dress from a pawn shop?!”
“Well uh… Why not?”

Maybe the cloths could convince her, or maybe you should just head to the next clothing store in the shopping row.

Well it looks like Sako is pretty firm on that, rather not mess with her.
You leave the place as soon as you can and move to next outfitter.
As soon you enter a sales pony approaches you.

Sako and Swirl leave with the sales pony, you get in the stallion corner where the other stallion wait for their women to be finished with shopping.
There is an old grizzled stallion who tries his best to ignore you.
At least Jitterbug is still with you, the others also went shopping.

After a while Swirl comes back, she is wearing a light and shiny blue dress.
>Sand Swirl:"What do you think daddy? I like it."

That is a lot of bits. Maybe we can turn this into a yes instead of a no. Hand Swirl a reasonable amount of bits and tell her you trust her judgement and she can choose herself a dress. That means she has to stay on budget but we don't have to tell her no.

You take Sako to the side.
“That is a little too expensive for what we can afford right now. Hey listen up, I gonna give you 70 bits, that should be enough. You're free to get whatever dress you judge to be fitting, as long it stays in the budget.”

Swirl was watching you curiously while you were talking.
“Uh, Swirl. The dress looks really good, but It’s a little bit too expensive for what we can afford.”
You can see the disappointment in her eyes.
>Sand Swirl:”Oh, It’s okay, I don’t really need a dress. Never had one in the orphanage, so it’s really no big deal.”
>Sachiko:“Now, just because THIS one is a little too expensive doesn’t mean you have to abstain completely from a dress.”
“Yes, I gave Sako a budget, she will find you something nice.”
The little bat immediately switches back to happy mode upon hearing this.
Sako and Swirl go back to browsing through the cloths.


It takes them a while, but they manage to find a good looking dress in your budget.
After payment is done, you exit the shop, 70 bits poorer.
Now what next?

Well, looking for an alchemy shop might be the best thing to start with.


You walk through the shopping district, Swirl and Sako with you.
The rest of your friends decided to head back to the inn.


Sadly you don’t find an alchemy shop.
You're actually surprised by this.
The crystal empire is like a time capsule, you expected ancient recipes, and long forgotten transmutations.
Well maybe with this Sombra guy the public just didn’t get access to that.
In a alley you find a Griffon who is selling rare herbs from his homeland, sadly he is all out of stock for today.
Maybe you should check there again tomorrow.


During your exploration you also pass a park, even the plants here are sparkly.


Finally you come to a big library.
Busy Crystal ponies are loading books from a cart and carrying them into the library.
What is this about?
Did someone forgot to return a few hundred books?
Heh.
Anyway, maybe you could find an interesting book in here.
Though...a library might bore Swirl and Sako a little bit.

It won't be boring to look around inside the building and see how many books they have and what kind. Infrastructure is amazing! They must have something for foals there too.

We can also ask if they have alchemical books and where they might be stored so that we can look at them more thoroughly later on our own time. Also if they happen to have any books on wendigos.
if swirl asks what a wendigo is ask how much she knows about hearth warming.

Oh right, if possible after the library we should go to the train station and find out their schedules so we know what time to leave tomorrow.

You enter, the interior is stunning.
The crystal book shelves stacked with books, stretch up over three floors.
While admiring layout you you spot a counter with the librarian behind it.
“Excuse me, do you have any books on Alchemy or Breezies? Also where can I find the children's books?”
The mare fixes her classes before answering.
>Librarian:“Oh yes, we have some Alchemy books, but most of them are in use by this mare over there. She only left a few books on ingredients and their categorisation.”
She points at a unicorn sleeping on top of a stack of books.
Wait, that’s the one you met on the way north!


>Librarian:”We don’t have much on Breezies though. All I know about is a notion in an Encyclopedia. You can find our filly section on the second floor.”
“Thanks. Say do you know where that Sombra guy has kept his book collection, if he had one of course?”
She shutters at the mention of the name.
>Librarian:“They were in the castle, but after the new princess moved in a friend of her and spike the brave and glorious went through the collection. They are now delivering most of the books to us.”
“Oh, is that what that cart is for?”

Mh, looks like someone was faster on those Alchemy books.

Sorry, had to work a bit longer to build up some time for Christmas. Also I kinda lost time playing pokemon. I'll put a text update out tomorrow and maybe more over the weekend. Pictures will be back on probably Monday.

Well, it’s SOMETHING you have no alchemistic knowledge about it.
It’s also a book for foals with only a few basic things.
You take a few notes, just to be sure.

After putting the book back you walk outside to help the ponies with the cart.
Maybe you could get a Alchemy book from them.

The ponies are happy to get some help from you, and you manage to get your hooves onto an alchemy book.

After you got your book time to look for the rest of your family.
Breezie time.
As you suspected, the encyclopedia is not really helpful.

You also look for bat ponies, but you find nothing.
Upon asking the librarian she just asks this.

Seems like they have nothing on that topic.

It takes a while for Swirl to decide upon a book.
She ultimately decides to go with Princess Valor Shine the dragon fighter.

Now that everyone's book needs are fulfilled, you make your way back to the inn.
It would be nice to spend some time with Swirl.
Maybe you should play ball with her, or read the book she just got.
Right now you can only do one thing, unless you come up with rules for book-ball...

Maybe you could find something you could use as a goal and she has to get the ball past you while you guard.
Then you can switch and she guards while you try to get the ball in.

This one crystal pillar and the side of the inn would make a pretty good goal.
Just need to be careful not to hit any windows.
They are probably crystal anyway.

After getting the playing ball out of the wagon you can finally begin.
Of course you go easy on Swirl for the first round, she manages to score 5 goals before you switch sides.
You try to not make it to obvious and whiff most of your shots.
The ones you want to put in go in.
All while making sure to never shoot to strong so that she wouldn't be hurt by the ball.
The end result is 5 to 4 for Swirl.
Damn, keeping the act up is more exhausting than actually playing the game.
But the smile on the little battie's face is worth it.

“Puh this was fun. Good Game. So what do you say, do you want to do some of your own alchemy and create your own crystals?”
>Sand Swirl:”That sounds amazing!”

With that you move back inside and prepare for the creation of crystals.
Swirl carefully puts the humus into the water and steers till it’s dissolved.
Now the thread…
You don’t have thread around.
Damn, without it Swirl won’t be able to create these crystals.
You have to find a thread somewhere!

We might need to find a mare and cut some of their tail hair. or find masquerade! She has to have some thread.

If masquerade can't be found then asking lanika for some bandages will make a good alternative. At least I hope.

I'm glad she had a good time but I guess we'll need a break eventually too

Well best place to start looking for her would be at the reception, maybe they know where her room is.

She has a long tail, but you're pretty sure asking would not be appropriate.

There are a lot of different things going on, a mare decorating her mane with small crystals, a stallion wearing a dress, a mare throwing a horseshoe at you, two foals having a pillow fight and finally a fellow pony practicing her show introduction in front of a mirror.
Hey you have found Trixie.
You tap on the window and startle her.

As she begins to recognize you, her composure returns.
“Hey Trixie, could you let me in?”
After a sigh, either relieved or annoyed, she gets up and walks towards the window to open it.

“Thanks I was looking for our friends, the mare down at the reception wouldn’t tell me where you were. So I decided to look around.”
>Trixie:“Well you found me. Luckily I checked in with the others and paid attention, unlike you, so I know where they are.”
Trixie gives you the Numbers of everyone's rooms, you should now be able to find them without problem.

Damn you can’t let Swirl wait any longer.
“Of course I can get you one. You’re my friend, there is no need for trades like that. I’ll have to see about the ingredients though.”

You head back to your room where you find an abandoned pot and a Swirl bouncing on the bed.
Guess stirring a pot was a little too boring for her.
As soon you enter the room she runs to your side.
“Hey Swirl, I got the thread. Now we can cook the water and make a crystal out of it.”

You do as it was written in the book and soon after you have a nice little blue crystal, all cooked and made by Swirl.
She seems very proud of it.

Now what?

we can make an invisibility potion easily with an effiga and a ventus so might as well just get that out of the way.

since an invisibility potion is easy to make swirl can help us since we won't have to subtract anything. i'm also a bit curious as to why masquerade wants it in the first place. remember to tell her that it only works for an hour.

“Congratulations on your creation Swirl, you took another step towards becoming a good alchemist. What would you say about making a necklace out of it?”

“Sure, but we will need to work a little further on it. Masquerade could probably help us with that. Talking about her, I need to make her an invisibility potion. Would you like to help with that Swirl?”
She eagerly nods.

You get to your wagon and grab the ingredients.
“So Swirl, you know how the circle looks, why don’t you go and draw it?”
>Sand Swirl:”Uhh I’m not sure if I memorized it completely.”
“Oh, don’t worry.”
You quickly show her a picture of the circle from your notes.
She musters it a few minutes and then starts to draw it.
It’s a little shaky but it should be good enough for the transmutation.
As she returns the chalk, you notice that she used a little more than what you would have used.
Which is to be expected from a beginner.
“You did good Swirl, now I’ll prepare a bottle and the alcohol. Meanwhile you can get a piece of ventus and effigia. If you have problems identifying them, you can look it up in my notes.”
You take an empty bottle and fill it with whisky.
Since that didn’t take so long you check on Swirl who is digging through the ingredients.
She has found the Ventus, but seems to still be looking for the effigia.
“Hey Swirl, it’s a little further left.”
With your direction she gets it quickly, and proudly presents you the ingredients.

Swirl seems to try pretty hard but doesn’t manage to get the magic running.

With a little tap on the circle you combine the ingredients to a invisibility potion.
“Great now let’s bring it to Masquerade.”

Back in Masquerade’s room you give her the potion.
“So here it is. Can I ask for what you need it?”
>Masquerade:”I was thinking that I might be able to transfer the magic into a mask. Imagine a mask that turns you invisible when wearing it. It would not just mask your face, but your whole body!”
“Oh, that sounds useful, and a little dangerous in the wrong hooves. Just remember the potion as it is will only last an hour.”
>Masquerade:”Oh, thanks Speed.”
“Your welcome. Thanks for the thread also.”

Swirl shows the unicorn her crystal.

An invisibility mask, huh... I wonder a bit on how she makes them, but it's not our wheelhouse, really, so no pressing reason to keep Swirl waiting, I don't think?

I thought it looked pretty nifty even in its natural shape, but it's up to Swirl. It's her new jewelry, after all. Plus it's a good bonding experience between Swirl and her and her Auntie Platinum. One thing spring in your eye, they have a huge bowl of mushroom gravy, seems like it’s some sort of specialty of this place.
You find something new in the dessert area, frozen fruits.

For now you decide to take some mashed potatoes, that goes well with that gravy.
A smaller serving will leave room for something else if you want to try anything after that.

Back at the table you find your friends chatting and eating.
Anything you want to discuss during the dinner.

So, due to sickness I took my Christmas leave earlier and don't have access to my pc. Also unlike last year I don't have to a laptop compatible to my tablet.

Now, you should probably go to bed yourself, but first a little reading.
You still got that stone alchemy book.
But first, time to get comfortable.
And the best way to this is get into the bed and cover yourself with a nice blanked.

Once you reached a good level of comfiness you start to read.
The book expects the reader to already have a goodgrip on how transmutation works and so goes directly into the complicated bits.
At Least you are saved a chapter of introduction.
The first transmutation In the book creates a straight wall of earth that expands straight forward.
Mh maybe you should give that a try the next morning.
For now, sleep.

The next morning after having breakfast, taking a shower, and leaving Swirl with Platinum, you head to the train station.
Obviously your little Breezie marefriend tacks along.

At the train station you make sure to check the schedules. Seems like there is a train leaving for canterlot in the morning, around noon, and in the evening.
Then you would need to change trains in canterlot, with a 20 minutes stop there.
“Alright looks like we could leave around noon, or in the evening.”

“According to this right here, it should take us a little over 3 hours.”

alright so there are three routes so far to make sako bigger. give her a growth potion, give her a polymorph potion, or give her to celestia.
