Dude, she's OBVIOUSLY going to be in S7. She's prominently featured in the intro, she's been setup as having a giant feud with Starlight, was shilled as the entire POINT of S5 and S6 (seriously, the plots had no meta-arc except for her), and they're churning out side material about her non-stop (The IDW arc is all about her saving the day because the mane six are powerless, they just had a chapter book dedicated to her, and the next twilight appearance is a FF comic with her and starlight).

Twilight becoming an alicorn after season 3 was Hasbro's idea. Given that Glim was the show creators' idea I doubt they would feel the need to force the character to change for merch purposes given that she was one of the few important secondary characters that have been introduced that wasn't created for that reason. (Cadence, Shining Armor, and Flurry Heart all exist because of merch purposes)

Realistically I would hope she becomes a royal magician that continues to study magic. Sort of like Starswirl 2.0. She should have a different endgame then Twilight otherwise she really will just feel like Twilight 2.0.
