It might look nice at a glance, but it's actually extremely unpleasant. The memes are almost always terrible and unfunny. When it comes to waifuism, people think it's a funny game to post things they think will hurt you the most at any chance, and they love explaining how characters they don't like are worthless shit. People are separated into factions based on what character they like, and people are so concerned with the reputation of those factions that they'll pretend to like a different character and say dumb shit to freak fans of that character out because they'll be worried that the rest of the board won't like them anymore.

When I see waifu culture on /a/ or /r9k/, I'm envious.

This is true, and it sucks balls. There are some things that annoy the fuck out of me, like using shipping as banter. I love some ships, for me it isn't harder to self-insert as some character than to self-insert as anon, and I love some the pics of those ships. I can't never post them because they piss off some of my fellow waifufags, OK, I can live with that, but then I see idiots using those pics to shitpost le ebin cuck maymay and it sucks to see something you like used to trigger people you like.

Anyway, the truth is, people are too thin-skinned. They should learn that trolls' opinions mean nothing. Many people hate my waifu, I don't give a fuck, I love her and that's all I need.

"Thin-skinned" wasn't meant as an insult, I'm not saying that people who get easily offended should leave, I'm saying that they (you?) should learn that the opinion of those idiots who try to hurt other people saying "mean" things is worthless.
