If I could have one interaction with Twilight, just one, I'd love it to be about my disdain for reading. I want her to ask me about my favorite books and just see the reaction from her as I tell her I don't have one cause I don't like reading at all. And it's not to troll her, I legitimately hate reading.
I figure she'd of course be shocked but then would just let it pass because we're both adults, but at the same time I wish she'd pursue it trying to convince me I'm wrong.

Be careful travelling to Equestria. Non-citizens have virtually no rights and mares are horny as fuck, you WILL become a rape victim if you fail to defend yourself.

I suddenly started hearing "Women are stupid and I don't respect them" in my head.
So, what exactly do you hate about reading? I mean, I can understand not being into it, but outright hating it is something naturally associated with children.
>>28964438
Not them but it's a lot less relevant than it used to be. The modern economy puts more emphasis on technical skill and less on eloquence and social ability. Even if they're still necessary, you don't need to develop them as much to get by. Additionally, there's a lot of empty or misleading material that gets published, so it's easy to spend most of your time reading without really learning anything. On top of this, there are people who still assume all books will automatically make them smarter than they were before, so if you find someone who considers reading their main hobby, it's entirely possible for them to be an idiot who gets preachy about how great books are. I personally know two people like that and I don't have a large social circle. It's great that Twilight loves books but if she could just hit ctrl+F whenever she needs information, she'd probably be wasting her time.

I agree in almost all counts, but I still don't understand why that'd make him *hate* reading. Yes, books aren't magical artifacts that'll make you smarter, and many actually outright feed you lies. Yes, there's obnoxious pricks who will use any socially acceptable excuse to convince themselves of their superiority to hide from their own insecurities. That doesn't make books something to hate, I think.
Books are like any other media. There isn't much of a difference between watching a (usually very padded and slow-paced) documentary about something, and reading a book about the topic. You might be surprised at how misleading some documentaries can be. That said, depending on your reading speed, you can easily read a book with a lot more content on the subject in less time than it takes to watch the watered down documentary made to appeal to the masses.
Once you talk about fiction books and fiction shows or movies, it's all personal taste. Saying you hate reading would be like saying you hate movies or TV. I can perfectly understand not being into those. Hating them feels exaggerated. There's the usual "the book was better" which sounds very pretentious to many... which very likely haven't ever read a book that has had a movie made out of it. Because movies can't last long enough to show *all* the cool scenes and dialogue. Things are sometimes played up or down regardless of their importance to the plot, simply to appeal to the masses: More explosions, more sex, or less blood and less sex so that the children can pay for a ticket too.
When I was young, I used to read a lot, and while I don't think it made me smarter, since it was mostly fiction anyways, it sort of made me genre savvy enough to avoid stuff other children stumbled with at that age. It's also a very good tool to learn another language, which is why I can communicate with you now, and enjoy the internet as a whole. I don't read books at all anymore, though. Lost my taste for them.
your book is too small for her

School basically made me hate reading. I never enjoyed it to begin with, and school (understandably so) emphasized it so hard in so many ways it completely turned me off to it. I never enjoyed anything I read in high school nor college either. I can't get into it. Secretly i'm jealous of people that love to read, I know it's supposed to be good for you, but I cannot get into it at all. I'm a stickler for getting the scene right, and when they try to describe a scene, environment or character, I have to reread the same paragraphs over and over until basically I'm already sick of what I'm reading. Its not the books fault, but I still don't enjoy it.
I guess what I'm actually resentful of is how much people harp on doing it.

>>28965729
Interesting. Ever read any Orwell, Hemingway, or Steinbeck?
>>28966015
If I did I don't recall. I simply know of the books like of mice and men and grapes of wrath. But I don't remember if I ever read them because if I did it wasn't by choice.
All I can remember reading was white fang, red badge of courage, Tom Clancy's Rainbow six, and the Congo. Idk why those are the only ones I can recall.
>>28966066
Based on that, I highly recommend All Quiet on the Western Front, The Killer Angels, and For Whom the Bell Tolls.

>>28967140
Just because I detest reading doesn't mean I can't, I'm at least a learned enough individual to use grammar properly. I just don't like doing it anymore than I absolutely have to. I liked the Lord of the Rings movies, but if you set the books in front of me I'd tell you to shove them up your ass because I have no interest in reading it, no matter how many details the movies gloss over. Hell I tend to skip over long greentext threads simply because I don't want to read them. And also the stories I do read are such generic trash.
But I will give smut a chance.
>>28967184
Why smut?
>>28962839
Why can't she try and fail to do normie stuff again? Books were only a small part of that.
It's because of "princess stuff" isn't it.

Fluttershy. The transition was odd and somewhat drawn out. There was a time that I liked both equally back in 2012-2013, and I'd clop to ship pics of them together. She's still second best pone for me, though.
