She isn't an awful character in my opinion.

Don't mind the butthurt /b/tards who are mad because she upstages their waifu.

That being said, I would much like it if they would focus on the Mane 6 a touch more on the show. But that doesn't make Starlight any less charming. She's a fun character to watch no less than the others. Some fans just don't know how to handle change properly.

She's alright. The only reason I don't like her is because she did a bunch of dumb shit and didn't get punished for it. Don't get me wrong, I understand that it was about forgiveness and understand that what you did was wrong, and that she regretted doing what she was doing. She's poorly written. She gets no consequences for her actions, is naturally gifted at nearly everything she does. Her backstory, while good, is really weird now since it has a seemingly unnatural baring on her actions. She's friends with Twilight and Spike, not the rest of the mane 6 so when they interact with each other it's odd and clunky or Starlight is mysteriously absent for some reason.

She is a horribly written mess. People say Twi was a mary sue, but at least she failed every now and again and experienced the weight of her actions. Starlight nearly doomed the world, mind controlled the mane six, etc and it's just "oh well, ponies will be ponies amiright?"
