I think of cons more for facilitated social gatherings. Panels, GoH's, and the Dealers' Den/Artist Alley are all great, but the true con experience is wat you do with the other con attendees. Especially when you go with friends [spoilers] or contain your spaghetti enough to make new friends, [/spoilers] the entire con turns into less an event dedicated to horses and moreso a time you can spend with people you haven't seen in possibly months to a year and beyond, talking, having a good time. All my favorite memories from the many cons I've gone to all involve the guys I got to share each con experience with.

There's solid cons like NMND, PPC, ROTL, Ciderfest that have awesome staff and know how to run shit. Then there's meh cons like BABS that have awful staff but everyone goes to anyway. You just gotta find one that you like.

Cons just never did it for me. Most likely because I'm a Brit. It'd be clingy and autistic when someone starts talking about porn to the staff in a room (most likely) with kids and their parents in it.
