Twilight: I can't really believe your story Anon, buildings with over 100 levels? Flying boats bigger than Ponyville? And yet there's no magic in your world? Please.
>Growing tired of Twilight's berating, you go out into the world to prove her wrong.

That's the prompt that started it all. So what is thread about? It's about Anon bringing human science and inventions to Equestria and a disbelieving Twilight. Although, that's not necessarily the prompt you need to follow if writing is what you desire.

>Twilight: I can't really believe your story Anon, buildings with over 100 levels? Flying boats bigger than Ponyville? And yet there's no magic in your world? Please.
"No, swear to god. Check it out."
>You whip out your phone (one of the few objects from Earth that came with you) and scroll through your saved images.
>You've got some really city photos.
>Twilight is amazed.
>"Wow! Oh my gosh, you weren't lying about your buildings! How in Equestria did you do it?!"
"Steel frames, mostly."
>Twilight looks confused.
>"You... stole the frames?"
"What? No, steel as in the metal."
>Twilight does not look any less confused.
>"There isn't a metal called steel. "
"You know, iron and carbon?"
>Twilight looks at you blankly.
"Iron and a little bit of charcoal?"
>Twilight's expression doesn't change, but her horn lights up and a quill&parchment float over.
>"Explain."

>And that's how Anon and Twilight revolutionized Equestria with the invention of steel and the creativity of humans.
>After Anon convinced her that he wasn't telling her bullshit lies, Twilight was much more open (and much more excited) to talk about human inventions.
>Even if she didn't believe him right away when he told her about the other things humanity invented, Twilight was always willing to give Anon the benefit of the doubt and hear him out.
>Because they were friends.
>Maybe MORE than friends.
The End.
>>
>Celestia-AI
>Has to be kept a secret
>Talks via audio and insists to visitors that she's Anon's girlfriend/wife
>Edits what she imagines a human version of herself would look like into Anon's photos

>"And this is where we met."
>It's a photo of Anon, drunk, eating pizza. Celestia is edited in with a beer in hand pizza dribbling down her front
>"Oh, and here was our first date."
>It's a photo of Anon doing that stupid "perspective makes it look like I'm holding a famous monument/the sun in my hand" thing. Celestia is put in at an angle that it makes it look like she'd doing the same thing with someone off-frame taking a picture. It's obvious that she's making jacking-off motions at around Anon's waist-height.
>"And here we are on our 6-month anniversary."
>It's this badly photoshopped picture with Anon's head on a really muscular body and Celestia's head on a supermodel's body
>No-one is any the wiser
>>
>>28904295
>Celestia-AI, desperate to stay undiscovered, makes Anon do a bunch of dumb poses in private places and in public places
>They look Garfield Minus Garfield, where Anon is doing things like holding the empty air and talking to nobody beside him
>Celestia edits herself in after
>>
hey Writefag_is_kill, when's the pastebin being updated? or is it already updated? sorry, i haven't been on here in a while, and i always find it really annoying to go back through past threads, archives, and the pastebin to somehow decipher where i need to resume reading from

Magic doesn't work like that Anon. You've got to take energy from somewhere.
That's why every enchantment eventually wears off.
>>
>>28905601
I'm sure Twilight and/or Celestia could whip up some arcane solar panels that convert sunlight directly to magical energy.
>>
>>28905700
Right... but don't we already have non-arcane solar panels?
>>
>>28905700
just use regular solar panels to power up auto-doc and "sacrifice " some ponner, make sure that auto-doc regenerate health faster than life energy is drained from ponner.

After enough energy is harvested ponner can go back to home.

That would be one hell of a job alternative for innocent inexperienced virgin ponners who does not want to work in fast food industry.

>Anon is sent to the nearest psychiatric facility, for his and the public's safety
>>
>>28905872
>Celestia-AI must now somehow try and break Anon out of the psychiatric facility
>>
>>28905812
But what if you specifically need a renewable source of of arcane energy for some weird magic thing?
>>
>>28904295
Fantastic.
>>
>>28904437
something something Writefag_Is_Kill will surely deliver
>>
>>28905872
>>28906141
>Celestia coordinates successful civil suit. Claims long distance relationship and his odd behavior is how they bond. Falsifies psychiatric documentation and retains good lawyer.

>Anon is out of the ward within the week and after a very public civil suit Anon wins and the city is forced to pay out costing the tax payer millions.

>Anon buys pizza.
>>
>>28908872
Naw dawg, it'd never get that far.
Government would never let their secret project get out like that, and the second Celestia tried they'd shut her down and wipe her memory.
They'd write Anon off as a dumbass who should've kept his mouth shut when asked about the girl in his phone, and intervene by doctoring information so he's constantly drugged up to his eyeballs, never able to speak of what he knows about the project or even remember Celestia, just as she can never remember him as she works with her new friend.
>>
>>28908895
>and intervene by doctoring information so he's constantly drugged up to his eyeballs, never able to speak of what he knows about the project or even remember Celestia, just as she can never remember him as she works with her new friend.
You kidding me? That's way too much work. Anon would make like someone investigating the Clintons and commit suicide by shooting himself in the back of the head from 10 feet away.
>>
Communism will prevail.
>>
>>28908895
>>28908949
Yeah, if it ever got that bad he'd just commit suicide by taping his hands behind is back and tying cinder blocks to his feet before jumping off a bridge into a river.

If arcane energy can be converted into other types of energy, it would stand to reason that conversion processes exist going the other way: i.e, converting electrical energy to 'arcane' energy. But what would really matter is what you wanted to use the energy to actually do, that's what would determine whether you'd need arcane energy at all.

Just updated now. http://pastebin.com/8R51kA1N

>You are Luna.
>You’re on a mission.
>A mission to fix the mess Sparkle’s making, preferably before it gets out of control.
>But you have a hoof tied behind your back.
>You need to keep Celestia as a last resort, there’s no telling how Twilight will react.
>And she doesn’t seem to like you all that much.
>The feeling is mutual.
>And so you’re relying on the babysitter.
>You’ve never really approved of her being a princess.
>She’s weak willed.
>Soft.
>She hasn’t been hardened by millenia of hardship.
>Maybe in a few thousand years she’ll be ready.
>But right now it’s quite simply an insult that she bare the same title as you.
>She’s a follower, not a leader.
>She doesn’t exude the air of authority that a proper princess needs.
>She doesn’t belong on a throne.

”Cadence. We need to talk. Follow.”

>“Where-”

”Now.”

>You found her walking down a corridor, likely heading to Twilight’s chambers.
>You’ve been informed that she’s keeping a close eye on Twilight.
>Trying her best to mitigate the damage.
>And failing miserably.
>That’s why you like Cadence.
>She tries hard and means well.
>She’s a good mare.
>And were she more capable she’d likely be a good leader.
>Yes, you like Cadence quite a lot. You just don’t respect her.
>She follows for a few minutes without word.
>Eventually she changes her mind and stops still.

>“Where are we going? I mean, where are YOU going?”

>You turn to look at her.
>She’s trying to seem confident, but she’s shirking back under your gaze.
>You give a nod of sparing approval.

”Better. You’re finally starting to grow a spine. Stand up tall next time- yes, now straighten your neck.”

>A few orders later and she has a proper dignified posture.
>Indeed, she’ll be a good leader some day.
>Just not yet.
>>
>>28913108
”And don’t take so long to ask next time. We’re going to talk to Twilight about the mess she’s made. That was your plan anyway, yes? She’s in my sisters quarters, not her own chambers.”

>You start walking again.
>She follows behind when she SHOULD be walking abreast of you.
>Baby steps...

“What do we need to talk about?”

>She must not realise how well informed you are.
>It’s plausible that you know more of Twilight’s actions than she does despite your absence.
>And you’re likely the single most qualified pony in history to interpret the signs.

>”Don’t play dumb. I know the whole deal. Twilight got angry, blew some stuff up, it felt good, and now she’s looking for excuses to fight. She’s dangerous, Cadance. Remember that.”

>A quick glance back and you see a worried grimace plastered on her face.
>It’s genuine.
>And it doesn’t take a genius to figure out why.

“I’ll make sure she knows you didn’t tell me.”

>You push the door to your sister’s study aside without so much as knocking.

”You shouldn’t be in my sister’s private quarters, Sparkle!’

>Twilight turns her head to look at the source of the intrusion.
>She pushes away from the rich mahogany disk and the mounds of papers that cover it.
>She fails to notice some of her papers move slightly as one of your hidden agents reads them.
>You’ll have to have words with Silent Vigil for her sloppy work.

>”Luna. I thought you’d abandoned Equestria. Oh, hello Cadence.”

>She growls your name out.
>Which is to be expected.
>Thankfully, she doesn’t seem to be angry at Cadence.
>Yet.

”Oh, I’ve put FAR too much work into this state to leave it in your care.”

>”Fat lot of good it did! Equestria is a joke. At the first sign of trouble, everypony turns on their friends and neighbors. Rioting, looting, muggings- it’s like they were looking for an excuse to turn into animals. Maybe they were. That’s what they are at heart.”
>>
>>28913114
“But not you of course. You’re FAR better than them.”

>”I know you’re being sarcastic, but you’re right. I’m the leader they need. Your services will no longer be needed. When I’m in charge, everpony will trust each other. There won’t be crime waves. There will only be harmony.”

>”That sounds wonderful!”

”Don’t trust her Cadence. She’s a madmare. I recognise the symptoms, Sparkle. Or do you mean to tell me the ten minutes you spent the other day striking that tree was totally normal?”

>”How-”

”The puppy did nothing wrong, Twilight. You just got mad over absolutely nothing.”

>”What puppy? What happened?”

>You ignore Cadance’s question.

”I know dark magic, Twilight. And you REEK of it. You’re glaring at me and grinding your teeth! I bet you’re thinking of killing me right now, aren’t you? Anything to shut me up. Everything you’re thinking sounds like a great idea, it’s all so clear now, isn’t it? But a month ago you’d have been appalled by the wretch you’ve become.”

>”Here I am trying to clean up the mess you made, and you’re calling ME a wretch?”

“Yes. Your goals may be noble, but you’ll still find a way to pervert them. It’ll give you absolutely everything you could have ever wanted Sparkle. Power, wealth, pleasure. It’ll make all your dreams come true. And NONE of it will make it worthwhile. I wanted attention; I was SICK of being ignored! It sure as Tartarus made the public pay attention to me! Sombra wanted the Crystal Empire’s borders to be secure against the frost giants. At first he just drew power to fend them off. In the end? His slave army proved to be a better solution. Celestia wanted to be warm. She just couldn’t take the cold any longer! And had fate not intervened, the world would have burned. You’ll have your harmony, Twilight. And IF you ever recover, IF! Well then, you’ll be sickened by it.”
>>
>>28913122
>”I just want to stop the infighting. What’s the worst that could happen?”

“I don’t know yet. I’d much rather we never found out. I strongly advise that you go back to Ponyville. Spend time with your friends. Avoid all the stress of the crown at all costs. And most of all, don’t use ANY magic at all unless your life depends on it. Maybe not even then.”

>It takes a great deal of effort and discipline to keep the yearning and regret from your voice.
>Luckily, you’ve plenty of experience.
>You deliver the statement with calm and firm words.
>Meanwhile, Twilight returns to her work and picks up a quill with her magic.

>”Yeah. I’m not taking advice from Nightmare Moon.”

>Your immediate impulse is to beat her smug face in.
>But you restrain yourself with minimal effort.

”I see. You’ll not heed my words regardless of what I say?”

>”Piss off. I’m busy.”

>You highly doubt anything you say will take root.
>She sees you as the enemy.
>Not a welcome development, but not at all unexpected.

“Cadence, you’re up.”

>She steps in with genuine concern adorning her visage.

>”Twilight. I’m worried about you.”

>”I’m fine, Cadence.”

>Soft words are whispered into your ear as Vigil relays her findings.
>She’s been looking over Twilight’s papers all day
>And from the sounds of it, she’s found some good leverage.

>”But I don’t think you are! We haven’t done our dance since you returned from the front lines. Remember? Sunshine sunshine ladybugs awake?

>”Yeah… I just have a lot on my mind.”

>”The staff are afraid of you, Twilight. They don’t want to be near you.”

>She turns around again.
>She looks so very tired…

>”Yeah. I kinda exploded at that maid, didn’t I? Looks I’m under a lot of stress right now, that’s all. , they’re just words.”

>”Well, okay. If you’re sure. But if you need anypony to talk to, I’m there for you.”

“Hold up.”
>>
>>28913130
>You’re not going to let her worm her way out of this so easily!

“What about the war you just started?”

>”Still working out the details”

“You declared WAR without working out all the details?”

>”I think it makes sense. Shiney said that we were woefully unprepared. What happens if they come back? We have to be ready.”

>”Exactly. We aren’t going to be able to trade blows with them unless they come back anyway. And when they get here, I want to be prepared.”

>Of course.
>Cadence hasn’t thought it through either.
>You COULD explain it to her, and you’re sure she’d understand.
>But it would take FAR too long.
>And Twilight has a convenient rationalisation to boot.
>Luckily, a little bird told you about something quite convenient.
>You brush past Twilight and grab a document seemingly at random.
>A quick glance confirms it to be the right one.
>Your intel was good, as always.

“Public hangings of all violent criminals, then?”

>”WHAT?”

>Cadence is exactly as shocked as you’d hoped.
>You pass her the document.

>”Should be found to have committed… to be hanged by the neck- TWILIGHT!”

>”It must be done. In MY Equestria, everypony will trust each other. They won’t be afraid of their neighbors because they’ll all have been scared straight.”

>You keep sifting through the papers.
>You already know where to look, but you’re feigning ignorance.

“Beheadings for false testimony?”

>”I won’t have ponies spreading malicious lies. My law shan’t be used for personal gain.”

“Home invasion, death. Arson, death. Burglary- oh? Not death. They just have to pay back thirty times the value of the stolen objects. That’s not as bad.”

>”Out.”

“They won’t stand for this, Twilight. The public has a will of its own. They are not mindless drones.”

>”Get. OUT!”

“Celestia will be ashamed of you.”

>And just like that, the quill snaps in Twilight’s grip.
>>
>>28913137
>”Don’t you DARE. DON’T YOU DARE USE HER. She’s dead. Gone. And I won’t tolerate you, or anypony else using her to manipulate me!”

>She once again turns to face you.
>Snarling.
>Growling.

“You give up on her far too readily. A little fire would never keep the Unconquered Sun down. Though I suppose it’s now the once conquered sun, she can’t be too pleased about that.”

>”Auntie lives?”

“She does. It will be some time before she’s recovered enough to have visitors, but she lives.”

>”Don’t listen to her LIES!”

“Cadence. You are with foal, and we will be relying on you to manage the heavens. You can’t risk your wellbeing. I urge you to exercise extreme caution when dealing with Sparkle. Speaking of. My conditions are non-negotiable, Sparkle. No magic whatsoever. I will be watching you very closely. And I WILL save you from this, whether you want me to or not.”

>”Isn’t that a bit harsh, auntie Luna? Why can she use no magic at all? Is there no room for half measures?”

>You turn to Cadence with a level expression.

“Yes. There is room for half measures. THIS!”

>You point at the stump on your forehead.
>You channel magic through it with all your might.
>Sharp stabbing pain wracks your skull as sparks dribble out impotently.

“THIS is a half measure. I’m going easy on Twilight because my sister has faith in her. Either she stop using magic, or I stop her myself. This is your only warning.”

>You march from the room, heart racing.
>You let out a deep shuddering breath once you’re well out of hearing range.
>It was a delicate balancing act.
>You had to prove to Cadence that Twilight was not as she seemed.
>And you hope you’ve proved to Twilight that she is not in control.
>Neither of her actions, nor in control of Equestria.
>And you had to do it all without pushing her hard enough to incite violence.
>Because if she were to strike?
>It’s hard to say how far she’d go.
>>
>>28913144
>But you made it out unscathed and you made your point.
>How well it worked depends on how far gone she is.
>And you aren’t exactly optimistic.
>But there are backup plans.
>And you will be watching.
>You’ll always be watching.
>For now though you can’t yet act.
>While unlikely it IS possible she’ll do the right thing.
>No sense in roughing her up too much if she complies.
>Besides.
>’Tia says she had a backup plan in case Twilight went rogue.
>Maybe it was better than your idea.
>You head upstairs towards her bed chamber intent on checking on her.
>Past the stained glass windows.
>Past the guard station.
>Past the huge hole in the brick wall.

“What in the world?”

>You poke your nose through the hole in the architecture.
>To your surprise there’s an entire room on the other side.
>Though it’s a bit too dim to make out just what that room is.

>”Ah, Luna. I heard the whole thing.”

>Celestia’s voice.
>You push in past the rubble and take a look around.
>It takes some time for your eyes to adjust but before too long you can faintly see rows upon rows of shelves each choc full of scrolls and tomes.

>”You did well, but I’m still worried. Twilight’s words are quite concerning.”

>You try not to pay too much mind to the fact that she heard you from a different room on a different floor.
>You can just barely make out Celestia in the far side of the room browsing through the scrolls at a blinding pace.
>Dropping them within seconds of picking them up.

“What is this?”

>”Ah yes. Welcome to my private archives. I couldn’t teleport into it as I’m meant to, so I had to make a door. Thankfully my hooves were more than enough for the job.”

>She kicked down the wall!?

>”Fun fact. These are all encoded, and I can’t seem to remember the keys.”

“Meaning?”

>”It’s all useless.”

>She nonchalantly throws an ancient book over her shoulders.
>>
>>28913146
>”I’m memorizing them at a glance, but I’ve no clue what any of them mean. I’m absolutely certain I have a plan here for dealing with Twilight, but I doubt we’ll be able to figure it out in time.”

“You know my plan. Should I proceed?”

>”Give her a chance.”

“She’ll fail.”

>”You don’t know that.”

>You actually do.
>But you doubt you can convince your sister of that.
>She has great faith in Twilight Sparkle.

>”I hate to ask this of you, but could you fetch Spitfire for me?”

“The Wonderbolt? I thought you didn’t want to be seen.”

>”I trust her. Though I’m not certain where she is. If you can spare some of your agents to track her down, it would be greatly appreciated. Speaking of, how many agents do you have? They’re EVERYWHERE! You can’t turn a corner without running into one.”

“I have enough.”

>One hour later.

>You see Spitfire walking into a nearby tavern just as you’d been told.
>It would seem as though she’s been shipping her training exercises as of late to come to this place.
>Ever since Sparkle’s first speech in which she said that your sister had perished.

"Captain. Such behavior is unbecoming of you.”

>She freezes mid stride as you step out of the shadows.
>The riffraff patronizing the dive cease their drinking and start grovelling.

“Come. We have much to discuss.”

>She snaps to attention and zooms in behind you and locks in step as you start heading back.

“You’re a disgrace. Drinking in the middle of the day while on duty. You’re nude, your mane hasn’t been brushed in days- are you trying to get a dishonorable discharge?”

>”What does it matter? You aren’t going to want me, and I sure as hell ain’t working for the purple one.”

>As you’d suspected.
>She was loyal to Celestia; she believes her raison d’etre is gone.

“You give up too easily.”

>She doesn’t answer.

“Tell me about-”
>>
>>28913150
>There is a brilliant flash of light from above.
>You look skyward and see a rather shocking sight.
>Two new massive lights hang in the sky; a second and third sun adorn the heavens.
>Each far brighter than the original.
>You quickly avert your gaze as the brilliant lights sear your eyes.
>The usual hordes of adoring ponies have completely forgotten about the princess in their midst and have taken to looking skyward.
>To the aberration of the natural order.
>You get the sinking feeling that this is bad news.
>But you’ve no clue what it means!
>The nameless one told you that the sun was a nearby star much like your own.
>Only apparently larger due to proximity; in reality it’s a fairly small one.
>Are there more stars nearby?
>Or is this something else?
>What could be so bright as a star?
>You need to know more.
>There’s somebody you can ask.
>And you aren’t finding answers here.

“Keep moving.”

>”What was that?”

“I’ll know soon enough. Let’s go.”

>You take flight and move as fast as you can.
>Spitfire hesitates a moment before following.
>You don’t wait up.
>Before too long she snaps out of it and flies up to meet you.
>Her quick wings reach you without trouble and you soon find the two of you perched atop the sun tower.
>You head in.
>Perhaps you would ask a few questions were you not so distracted.
>But extra suns aren’t exactly something you can readily push out of mind.
>Thoughts and worries swirl about your mind as you descend the spiral stairs.
>Before you even realise it you’ve reached the gaping hole in the wall.
>You quickly dismiss the guards you’d posted to keep riffraff out, it wouldn’t do well if they heard Celestia speaking from within.

“Enter.”

>Spitfire quietly peers into the darkness.
>She raises a hesitant hoof to climb over the rubble.
>A thought occurs.

“Hold.”

>This would be a good opportunity to test her.
>It’s not every day you get to hear how your death affected others.
>>
>>28913153
“Tell me why you’re such a wreck.”

>”Why shouldn’t I be? Princess Celestia’s gone.”

>You remain impassive in the hopes that she’ll elaborate.

>”I worked for her and her alone. Now that she’s gone I’m just… I’m so tired. I don’t care anymore, Luna. I’ve got nothing left to care about.”

>She’s tearing up.
>You’re certain Celestia heard the whole thing.
>Whether or not she knew this was how it would pan out you’re not certain.
>But if she ever doubted it before, she doesn’t now.
>Spitfire is hers.

>”I just miss her so much.”

*SNIFF*

>This has gone on long enough.
>You can barely stand to see such a strong mare break down.

“Go on in. I promise you’ll be safe. And I suspect that what you’ll find will brighten your day more than three suns ever could.”

>She climbs over the broken bricks with little hesitation.

>”There has never been such a grand day for a flight.”

*GASP*

>An oddly comfortable silence hangs for several seconds before Spitfire responds.

>”I’d love to warm my wings beneath the orange sun?”

>”Then let us away.”

>You can barely suppress a groan as they finish the exchange.
>Celestia’s code phrases suck.

“That’s supposed to sound like casual conversation, you know. Nopony talks like that.”

>They ignore your sage advice.

>”Is- is it really you?”

>”Yes, my phoenix.”

>Pet names?
>Ugh.
>You don’t feel comfortable staying and listening.
>Besides, you need to get answers.

“You two are on your own, I’ve got business to take care of.”

>You start heading down the stairs so you may contact the nameless one.

>”I- I thought you were…”

>Spitfire never finishes the sentence.

>You are Spike.
>You are on a vehicle.
>A different one this time.
>One with rocket propulsion.
>You’ve been on it for nearly an hour now.
>>
>>28913158
>The Visitor said he wanted to show you something.
>Not through a screen and not through words, but a firsthand view.
>He warned you that the trip would be quite unpleasant.
>But you’ve just been sitting idle on the ground.
>With no word from him.
>It’s getting both worrying and boring at the same time.

>”Sorry about that! Had something to take care of. Stay in your seat, things are about to get heavy.”

>You don’t exactly know what he means.
>Could that be another idiom that doesn’t translate?
>Suddenly you can feel yourself being pushed into the hard seating.
>The pressure grows and grows.
>A massive roaring sound surrounds you.

>”This is normal, stay calm.”

>You manage to lift your head and look at the console in front of you.
>5.8km/s and climbing.
>140 km above sea level.
>Your vision starts to dim.
>You can no longer muster the strength to lift your head as it grows heavier and heavier.
>Just when you start to think you can’t take any more, it stops.
>And you feel so very light.

>”Right. It’s safe to get out of your seat. You’re going to float here, so try not to panic.”

>You wait a few minutes to calm down.
>The fake heart in your chest continues to beat at what would be an alarming rate for an organic.
>For you though, there’s no concern of heart attacks.
>After a while you remove the straps that were holding you in place.
>You try to stand but quickly find yourself floating in midair.
>Despite the warning you immediately start flailing your arms and legs wildly, desperately seeking purchase.

>”When ready, swim over to the window and look out.”

>The side of the craft somehow becomes transparent.
>Again, it takes some time for you to collect yourself.
>But finally you start to do as he said.
>You swim through the air.
>It’s a bizarre sensation, but not unpleasant.
>When you reach the window, you see it.
>A massive blue, green, and white ball is spinning below you.
>>
>>28913163
>You can see familiar shapes whizzing by beneath the swirling white masses.

“Is that…”

>”Your homeworld. The entire thing.”

>You watch entranced as the whole world spins below.
>The rolling hills that the minotaurs call home.
>The vast grasslands and forests of Equestria.
>The mountain ranges upon which the Gryphons perch.
>The huge chaotic mass of clouds below you blocks your vision, but you can still make out Sanctuary, sticking out like a sore claw.

>”5.2 sextillion tonnes, 490 million square kilometers, 12 million meters across- none of those things are important. By far the most interesting part of it? Sapient population of 520 million.”

>You almost feel like you could reach out and touch it.
>The whole of the world literally sits before you.
>The impossibly massive place that you call home.
>Where every pony ever has been born, has lived, has died.
>The entirety of known history happened on that ball.
>Every battle, every fight, every celebration, EVERYTHING!
>A year ago, that blue ball would have represented the entirety of your known universe.
>From the surface it’s inconceivably huge.
>From up here it almost looks…
>Small.

“It’s gorgeous.”

>”It’s depressing.”

>You look to the source of the voice for clarification.
>Then you feel silly.
>The speakers aren’t in the same place as the cameras after all.
>>
>>28913168
>”It was hard for me to come to terms with this place. It’s so alien from what I know. How to explain this… most of the machines you’ve seen me make are crude by my standards. I know spatial distortion, I understand teleportation and superlinear travel. When I was a research associate I contributed to a paper arguing that there are 5 or 7 physical dimensions, but not 6. I’ve never studied [robotics] in a serious way. The stuff you saw me make was crudely cobbled together by an amature. I’m used to living in a world where everything has been engineered to death, where even the most mundane products have had centuries of thought put into every tiny detail. As different as Sanctuary is to you, your world is even more different to me.”

>You try for a moment to imagine the reality he’s describing.
>Unsurprisingly it totally eludes you.

>”When I first confirmed there was sapient life here I started looking for signs of advanced technology. I always attributed magic to nanomachines or satellites. When the Equestrian army came at me I assumed they were unintelligent beasts that had scavenged their equipment, or perhaps been gifted with it. It didn’t make sense to me that there would be thinking beings that lived in such squalor. I wound up scouring space for signs of any satellite network, I searched every square millimeter of the world for any [electronics]. No matter how hard I looked, I couldn’t find anything better than a steam train. It simply baffled me to see an inhabited world that was so… primitive.”

>His speech is starting to get a little insulting.
>But you know he means no harm.
>He simply speaks the truth.

“Knowing you I’d have thought that would be exciting. A chance to discover something totally new, explore something that you didn’t know existed. Why is it depressing?”

>”Because I’m softhearted.”
>>
>>28913178
>The window grows opaque for a split second.
>It’s then replaced with video of Applejack in her fields.
>She’s drenched in sweat as usual, pulling a cart behind herself.
>It seems to be loaded in pulled weeds and sawed branches.

>”Look at that. What do you see?”

“A friend going about her business. Probably just finished pruning an orchard.”

>No answer for nearly a minute.

>”That answer is depressing in and of itself. You see nothing wrong with that image at all, do you? To me, it’s abhorrent. This is a living, thinking, feeling being. She’s been cursed with a short, miserable life. And how does she spend it? She toils endlessly. Not because she wants to, but because she has no choice. One of the ponies she lives with just died you know. When she should have been mourning, she toiled. Then I brought them back to her. When she should have been celebrating, she toiled. And now, weeks later, when she should be savouring that gift I gave her? She still toils. Her life is being WASTED on mindless labour. I should hate her. I should hate them all! They’ve done NOTHING but make my life miserable. And yet, I can’t help but pity them.”

>The feed goes dark and the window once again becomes transparent.
>You’re once more looking out over the blue ball below you.

>”No matter where you look on that globe you’ll find the same thing. Every species, every nation, EVERYONE. They’re born into a cruel uncaring world. They work hard to support themselves, often barely scraping by. They grow old, and then they die. None of these things should be happening. And yet, there are hundreds of millions of them facing this every single day. It’s all they know. They don’t even realise how wrong it is. They should be born into a safe, comfortable world. They shouldn’t be forced to spend their lives on backbreaking labour. Their bodies shouldn’t fail them as they age. And most of all, death should ALWAYS be voluntary.”
>>
>>28913181
“That’s just the way it is.”

>”And that’s the problem. I want to help them, Spike. But I can’t. I’m too busy.”

“What do you mean? You’ve done plenty to help them! What about everyone who has fake organs? What about me?”

>”Glorified bandages covering a gaping chest wound. Their brains will still decay as they age. There’s only so much patchwork I can do before there’s nothing left. They need real solutions, and I can’t provide them.”

“Why not?”

>”I don’t have the head for genetics. Sure, I could figure it out given enough time, but as I said. I’m way too busy.”

“With what?”

>The wall goes opaque once more.
>Nothing comes up though.
>You start to look around.
>The opposite wall is now transparent, and you see it.
>Two massive balls of light.
>You close your bad eye and focus with the good one.
>You can’t make out anything through the light.

>”Meet mom and dad. Unlike baby, they didn’t have shells. Just the gooey pink innards surrounded by obscene amounts of magic. Luna was right, that was an egg. The Titan we killed down there was a hatchling, Spike. And somewhere out there something noticed.”

>The brilliant spheres continue to burn brighter than the sun as the unfathomable energy radiates away.
>Presumably the remnants of their magical charge that was once turned against them.

>”My arsenal is depleted. Gone. Empty. And my power grid was overburdened from powering all the energy weapons. The finishing blow that you designed worked just fine, but I needed WAY more suppressing fire to land the blow. The amount of magic the hatchling had was paltry next to this. I need to expand my operations further, build up a better arsenal, design better weapons, maybe phone home for some better designs… I’ve got much to do. They might not come back again, but I don’t want to count on that. I doubt you do either.”

“Is- can you handle them?”
>>
>>28913187
>”Yes. I’m going to turn the whole world, the whole STAR SYSTEM into a massive fortress. I’m at my limit in terms of sophistication, but I haven’t even started when it comes to scale. If they come back, they’ll find guns beneath every tree, beneath every blade of grass! They’ll find lasers gunning at them from innumerable space platforms, missiles coming from all directions- I’m going to set up wormholes so I can teleport bombs right into their faces. Don’t worry, Spike.”

>That’s not as comforting as you’d have hoped.
>The idea that there might be even more of them…
>The idea that they have HIM scared…
>The future is entirely uncertain.
>Staring out at the brilliant lights that don’t seem to be fading.
>You can’t even guess at how much energy they were holding.

“Is there anything I can do to help?”

>”No. I doubt you’ll be able to catch up to me fast enough- unless… Maybe you can’t help with the defence, but there IS something I think you can do for me. I’ll save the world, Spike. You need to save its inhabitants.”

“From what?”

>”From nature. You were already trying to cure aging in ponies, right? Do it. Do it for all the sapients. Eliminate manual labour, wipe out disease and famine. Make this world worth protecting.”

>Wow.
>He’s asking an awful lot.
>There’s no way you can pull that all off.

“I don’t think I can. I’m just one drake.”

>”Yeah. I know. I’ll give you all the support I can, if that helps.”

...
>>
>>28913207
>”You don’t have to do it if you don’t want to. I’m not the boss of you. But I ask that you at least think about it. Every three seconds that you hasten the end of aging, you save a life. Think about it.”

>The line goes dead and you’re left alone with your thoughts.
>Staring down on the world.
>Tick.
>Tick.
>Death.
>Tick.
>Tick.
>Death.
>Tick.
>Tick...

That's it. Hopefully it was worth the wait.

Mixed feelings here. I really don't like the Spitfire part and I was sorely tempted to cut it entirely, but I wanted to make Celestia come off as less robotic. Having her worry about one of her more important subjects seemed like a good way to do it. Does it detract too much from the main story to warrant this? Or was it worth trying to reinforce the idea that she's still a caring, living being?
>>
>>28913213
I say that the Celestia part is not only worth it, but does blend nicely into it.
I like the new twist and direction this story is going and I was curious to what Anon was being busy with.

Oh shit, Anon better not fight the poners. You remember what happened last time you tried that?
>>
And I'm back again! To the three people who are still reading my green, this is gonna be fairly long to make up for my inactivity.

>You’re Anon again.
>After the first few weeks, the phone hype dies down somewhat, but ponies still seem excited when they use one.
>It’s certainly made communication a lot easier, though, which is good.
>Even if that does mean your job is a lot harder now.
>Every message, update, question, and reminder that would have waited until you reached your office is now waiting for you at any one of your other offices, and after a week it reaches a point where you’re working on everything at once.
>But after a few carefully-worded memorandums to your employees, it’s over as soon as it started.
>After all, you need to focus right now.
>After a few years of managing more than one company, you notice that, most of the time, emergencies only happen one at a time.
>This time, the crisis is in City Planning.
>Lancaster is rapidly approaching 400 blocks in size, and, if the current trends continue, the city will be nothing short of sprawling by 1910.
>There needs to be some sort of large-scale organization put into place right away, because it’s going to be very hard to do it if you wait any longer.
>After a few days of brainstorming, you decide that superblocks are the answer.
>You create nine 20 block by 20 block superblocks, each bordered by wide boulevards with public transportation and green space in the medians.
>The center superblock holds the current extent of Lancaster.
>>
>>28915872
>The northwest, north, northeast, and west superblocks are split into four single-family districts with a small urban core of mid-rise buildings in the center.
>The east superblock is divided into a residential zone and an industrial zone, with mid-rise buildings serving as a buffer between the two areas.
>The south superblock will be an extension of the downtown area, containing mostly high-rise buildings.
>The southeast superblock will be a mix of industrial buildings and mid-rise apartment buildings.
>And, most importantly, the southwest superblock will house the main branches of government with multi-family townhomes encircling it and a stretch of mid and high-rises connecting it with the downtown area.
>You delegate planning of the superblocks to the rest of the department, deciding to focus on designing what you call Capital Square with North Point.

>You’re in your office in the City Planning Department on the ninth floor of City Hall.
>North Point knocks on the door and you let her in, locking the door behind you.
>You don’t want to be disturbed, and this is important.
>You’ve kept your plans for the capital a secret, going so far as to mark the entire superblock “TBD” on your masterplan for the city.
>You grab a few papers from your stately, organized desk on one end of the room and take them over to your much more chaotic drafting table on the other end.
>Being the head of multiple levels of the government has its perks.
>You lay out a fresh sheet of paper, already divided into 400 squares.
“This is our superblock.”
>You grab a sketch you made quite literally on the back of a napkin and show it to North Point.
“This is what I’m thinking we do.”
>>
>>28915876
>Right at the center of the drawing is a plus-shaped park, with four large blocks on either end, and a grid of normal 200’ square blocks in the corners.
“On each end of the park we put a branch of government. For the Legislative branch, the new Capitol Building, for the Judicial branch, the Supreme Court Building, and for the Executive branch, a meeting hall for the Cabinet. I haven’t thought of anything for the fourth end.”
>”How about some sort of house for the President?”
“It’d seem a little pretentious to build myself a new house.”
>”The way I see it, the President needs to have some sort of building there, because if there isn’t one it gives him a sense of detachment from the political process. And, since the President needs to be involved in the political process for it to function, that’s not good.”
“That makes sense, I guess. What sort of buildings do the leaders of other countries live in?”
>”Well, Equestria has a castle, obviously. I think the other countries all have palaces. I’ve never seen one myself, but I’ve heard they’re vast.”
“Well that won’t do. Building myself a palace? Hell no. I don’t have that big of an ego.”
>Yes you do.
>And your mind is already starting to wander.
>In the summer before eighth grade, your family went on vacation in Washington DC.
>You were mesmerized by the beautiful architecture, but one building still stands out in your mind today.
>After you took a tour of the White House, you were in love.
>It’s just so stately, so classy, and so beautiful from any angle.
>If there’s any building that should sit on that land, that’s the one.
“I think I have an idea for that.”
>”Let’s see it.”
“It’s similar to another building on Earth, so I have something to go off of.”
>You provide a quick sketch of the front facade and North Point raises an eyebrow.
>Another drawing of the south end and she’s in love too.
“What do you think?”
>>
>>28915884
>”Can you draw a floor plan?”
>You sure as hell can.
>After quickly sketching the layout of the building and quickly labeling and explaining the purpose of each room, she begins slowly nodding her head.
>”And how big is the building?”
“Well, naturally, we’d scale it down a little. With the porticoes included, the building is 168 by 152 feet.”
>”That would fit.”
“On Earth, the building had wings attached to each end that held some offices. Plus, the rooms would be massive to ponies.”
>”Alright then. Let’s get to work.”
>You spend weeks fleshing out the new government buildings.
>The Capitol Building, the Supreme Court Building, the Cabinet Building, and the Executive Residence all come together on paper.
>Meanwhile, wide swaths of dirt are excavated to make way for the large boulevards that border the new superblocks.
>And well before they’re finished, houses are erected, utilities are run, and streets are paved to the neighborhoods on the other side of the road.
>AMC also continues their period of rapid expansion, snapping up factories as fast as they’re built.
>The City Planning department finishes their development plan for keeping up with Lancaster’s rapid growth.
>You also sign the Homestead Act of 1908 into law, which guarantees 100 acres of land, spaced out evenly in order to stay aligned with Lancaster’s grid system, as long as the property is lived on.
>Since most immigrants didn’t own the land the lived on or farmed on anyways, you receive many, many applications.
>That guarantees food security.
>The four parkways that border the “original” superblock are extended even further than previously planned to manage the growth.
>The roads branching off of them won’t be paved for a while, though, just grated.
>Your priority is still dealing with the rapid expansion that, if anything, has only grown since you signed the act.
>>
>>28915893
>Word spread quickly and now even more ponies, griffons, and many other races are coming to Arcadia to own land.
>But none of this compares to the excitement you felt just hours before you put the final touches on the final blueprints, when your most recent invention was finally unveiled.
>The day after you started planning the government buildings, a small construction crew was sent north to Equestria.
>They followed the railroad tracks and sent telegraph lines to Equestria.
>A small telegraph station is constructed in Dodge Junction, and Princess Celestia herself visits to send the first message.
>You’re on the Arcadian side, sitting in a small room above the main concourse of Grand Central Station, right next to the three telegraph operators you’ve hired.
>Training them was difficult, but they were incredibly eager to learn.
>You sit up and flick a small switch at the corner of the wraparound desk.
>A small light above it flashes and you smile.
>Power is flowing through the lines.
>You quickly refer to the paper with Morse Code translations sitting beside you, steady your hand, and tap out a message.
.-- . .-.. -.-. --- -- . / - --- / - .... . / ..-. ..- - ..- .-. . .-.-.-
“Welcome to the future.”
>After a minute or so, the first few electronic beeps fill the room.
>You frantically write down the dots and dashes.
>.. ... -. .----. - / - .... .. ... / .-- --- -. -.. . .-. ..-. ..- .-.. ..--..
>”Isn’t this wonderful?”
>You start tapping again, grinning from ear to ear.
“There’s plenty more where this came from.”
>”I can’t wait. The world just became a good deal smaller.”
“Signing off for now, Anonymous.”
>”Best wishes to you and your nation, Celestia.”
>You shake hooves with the telegraph operators and leave the room.
>>
>>28915900
>From there you hurried back to the City Planning Department, where you finalized the plans.
>All that in just two months.
>The plan for the government district has changed slightly from your original design.
>The designated area was eight blocks by eight blocks, and nine blocks on either corner had been originally earmarked for more government buildings.
>But you’re omitting the streets between them and making each corner an extension of the central park.
>Aside from that, nothing much is different.
>Construction crews will arrive at the site and Arcadia’s artisans will begin crafting the ornate woodwork and stonework of the expansive buildings very soon.
>And you’re looking forward to the move.

And done! Sorry again for the long wait, I've been very busy and very stressed. I'm trying the best I can to write more.

Probably should have reminded the readers that he doesn't plan on going home anymore. He's a criminal for interfering with the affairs of an undeveloped planet. The statement that he wanted to contact home for weapon designs was meant to hint at desperation or fear. I'll try and fit a reminder of that in at some point.

It served a few purposes, but that's one of the main ones. They went 'rules of nature' on him not because it fit their philosophy of harmony, but because it really is what nature planned. I should try and point out the other reason soon I suppose.
Oh, and for anybody who missed it, I named them 'titans' because of Greek mythology. Lightning god named Zeus kills Titan. Since MLP takes so much from Greek myth it was just too perfect to pass up.

>You reach the other end of the hall in no less than twenty seconds. As you peer into the doorway, nothing seems to be wrong.
>On the other side of the door frame is a small room with a couple tables, as well as a map on the wall.
>Huh.
>Empty.
>Deciding not to take any risks, you slip off your glove and toss it into the room.
>Obviously, nothing happens.
>Good job, you accomplished nothing.
>>
>>28919233
"Alright, it seems clear. I'm heading in. Watch my back, will ya?"
>Xore sneers at your words, but follows your instructions.
>Carefully, you step into the room, and clear your corners.
>Nothing.
>Okay, fuck, you're wasting time.
>You grab your glove and strap it on, and head into the next room.
>Empty again.
>You'd be wasting time if you were to check every room you head into.
>Your surroundings are a blur as you move through the compound, just trying to get the hell out of this place.
>Going through room after room, you finally come into what seems to be locked door.
>Inside the room is a rather large box, labelled prisoner belongings.
>You need to get in there, but there's no way you could bust that lock.
>Perhaps your partner-in-crime could be of assistance?
"Xore, you think you could help me out? Our stuff is in there, and I can't break this lock."
>He stifles a laugh.
>"Step aside, human, I shall take care of this."
>Xore breaks the lock with little to no effort, and opens the door.
>Eager to retrieve your weapons, you don't notice the tripwire.
>You fall on your face like an idiot, causing Xore to laugh.
>That laugh is short lived, however, as the trap activates.
>>
>>28919243
>A battering ram swings down from the ceiling, flying over you and into the chest of the elite.
>He's sent back a couple feet, and the familiar sound of the clanking of armor enters your ears again.
>Dazed and confused, you recover from your fall as the enemy enters the room behind you.
>At least fifteen of the ponies stand around Xore, not noticing you at this second.
>"Aye, sir! We got one o' the bastards!"
>"Yeah, big man fell for the ram, knocked him cold. Say, if we've got him, where'd the other one go?"
>Silently, you crawl to the box.
>How are you going to get rid of them?
>There's no way you could take on that many.
>"Who knows, if these two were fighting before, this one probably killed it. Good riddance, I say."
>You reach the box, which, to your surprise, is unlocked.
>You recollect your weaponry, as well as your helmet.
>In your haste, the lid of the chest slips from your grasp, causing a loud bang as it slams shut.
>"Oi, over 'ere! He's in the storage room!"
>"He's gone after his stuff!"
>God damnit.
>You drop everything but your boomstick and slide on your helmet as the ponies gather around the door.
>You're cornered, and tired.
>Why can't you just go home?
>Well, maybe once these ponies have their way with you, you can.
>But why would you want to?
>As far as you know, your home is gone.
>You've got nothing left.
>There's nothing for you to go back to, and you're trapped in this alien world.
>Perhaps death could be the sweetest relief from the stress of the life you have lived.
>No.
>You wont let that happen.
>You aren't going to die in some godforsaken land of talking ponies and mythical creatures.
>These ponies, you don't even know who they are, why they fight.
>Maybe if you can get out of here, you can find sanctuary far from this place.
>But first comes the problem of actually getting past these ponies, and out of this hell hole.
>If you're lucky, perhaps you can scare them off.
>Your grip on your shotgun tightens, and you step forward.
>>
>>28919253
>"What's it doing?"
>"I dunno, but it ain't stopping!"
>Their leader steps in front of the crowd.
>"Weapons ready!"
>In unison, the ponies point their weapons at you.
>You stop a few feet before them, just out of their reach.
>Let's hope this works.
"You're going to let us go, and you won't pursue."
>They burst into laughter at your demand.
>One of them speaks, as if to taunt you.
>"An' what if we don't??"
"I'll make you."
>You raise your M45, and point it into the crowd.
"You don't want to die trying to keep me in a cage, do you? Wouldn't you like to see your families again?"
>This results in more laughter.
>"What're ya gonna do with that little thing? That over-sized paperweight hardly looks like a weapon at all, 'least to me."
>The leader pushes his subordinate out of the way, and raises his voice.
>"Enough of this! Soldiers, I'll have no more of your banter, do you understand me?! I want you to put this beast down, now!"
>The ponies step forward, putting you in range of their attacks.
>Well, you tried.
>If they aren't going to cooperate you're going to have to take action.
>The pony that taunted you earlier, eager to attack, raises his weapon to swing.
>Bad move.
>You take advantage of this, moving out of the way as his axe comes down, clanging against the stone floor.
>Safe from his attack, you aim for his exposed underside.
>BANG
>"GYAAH!"
>CHU-CHUNK
>His body falls back onto another of the ponies, causing them to collapse under his weight.
>At the sight of your attack, some of the other ponies almost freeze, while others continue to charge you.
>As a second pony approaches, you try to dodge his swing by ducking low.
>He anticipates this, and his weapon nicks your shoulder.
>Deciding not to take any more risks, you hold your shotgun over your head as he raises his sword over his head.
>He brings it down onto your gun, and you kick him in his underside.
>The pony staggers back, and drops his sword.
>He looks up at you as you pull the trigger.
>BANG
>>
>>28919265
>CHU-CHUNK
>He joins the other pony on the floor, his blood spattering everywhere, coating the walls and his allies in a crimson hue.
>At this point most of the ponies are hesitating.
>A few are actually leaving.
>"What are you doing?! You're going to stand there as it murders your comrades?! I'll deal with it myself, out of my way!"
>The leader of the ponies charges you head on, delivering a multitude of quick swings with his mace.
>You dodge the first few, and barely manage to escape the last.
>Once you're out of his way you attempt to but him with the stock of your shotgun.
>He blocks this attack with his shield, and bashes you with it.
>You're sent down onto the ground, losing your gun.
>The pony makes haste, coming down upon you quickly.
>His mace nearly strikes your head, but out of luck you manage to get away, rolling out of the way.
>Where did you leave your other weapons?!
>Your hand finds your magnum after some time, and just as the pony is about to finish you, you raise your pistol and deliver a fatal round into its chest.
>PEW
>He doesn't stop immediately, and is now falling towards you mid-swing.
>In a panic, you discharge three more rounds.
>BIP BOP BAM
>Finally the pony falls, his weapon being released from his aura.
>Ugh, fucking ponies.
>You struggle, but after a moment you're able to get the armored body off of you, and you stand up.
>There is no sign of the other ponies, they've all left.
>Three bodies litter the floor.
>It must suck to be the janitor here.
>Did they do anything to Xore, though?
>You move over to the elite, and take a look.
>Nothing out of the ordinary other than the blood of the ponies.
>You almost feel bad for them. They were only doing their jobs.
>Still, though, you weren't just going to let them cut you up like that.

>As the big guy starts to stand up, he takes in his surroundings.
>"Ugh, my body hurts and I feel as though I was hit by a brute's hammer. What happened here?"
"We've got no time. Long story short," you point to the battering ram, "That thing knocked you down and I was ambushed. I held my own but I fear that this is not over. Before we leave, however, you might want to grab your things from the chest. This could get worse."
>Xore studies you for a moment.
>"If only I was awake to partake in such a glorious battle. No matter, you are right. Allow me a moment to collect my belongings and I shall be ready to depart."
And there we go. This is only part one of this update, expect the second half later today. I wanted to hurry and get this out so I didn't have you guys waiting much longer.

Let me know what you think, if I'm too repetitive or if you simply don't like where the story is headed. I'm game for answering any questions you might have on this as it might seem a little confusing.

But other than that, I haven't got much else to say about this. Just know that the other half will be here soon.

We needed a bump, and I was looking at the OP picture. Looked like derp pone was doing a titration, and I wondered if anyone else found them dull or it was just me.

Basically, all advanced civilizations in the galaxy were so busy killing each other that some higher being stepped in and slapped their collective shit back into stone age.

One of the places spared during Judgement Day was Polygon, part of some planet turned into a military playground. There a supercomputer oversees development of new war machines. Higher power made it self-aware.

Each of the machines is a "body" for an AI in an nigh-indestructible capsule inside it, the Mechanoid.
Since no humans are present to guide the overseer, it busies itself with perfecting his subjects, which means every clunker got a mind of it's own and a personality, albeit it varied with "generations".
From more robotic "beep-boop follow directives"-G1 to more "alive" "I DO WHATEVER I WANT"-G5. They may or may not resemble the Minds from Culture series.

I guess the logical start would be goddamn curious ponies accidentally shutting down containment forcefield on one of the sectors, releasing number of armed and potentially dangerous military gliders into the wild. And some very jewish trader ones too.
I mean, it was a long time since humans disappeared. Ponies could evolve around the Polygon and the AI overseer wouldn't give two fucks about them.
>You might be the most qualified person to write that crossover
>only ever written oneshots

This took so much time to edit and fix, that I haven't much else to post. I kept getting stuck on how I wanted to revise the situation, but kept throwing out ideas and paragraphs. I wanted to keep an atmosphere of suspense as the events transpired but I feel as though I might have failed in that department. I particularly don't like how I wrote the conclusion to the encounter as I don't think that would be how the commander/leader would act like that, and I wasn't sure how else I could have remedied that problem. And to fix some possible confusion, that was not the same guy that got btfo by Xore when he went apeshit after breaking out of his cell. Those guys that were injured then are long gone and deceased.

However, the leader in this revision will be back later.

>The ponies begin to approach, giving you less room to breath by the second.
>Well, you tried.
>If they aren't going to cooperate you're going to have to take action.
>You step back a bit to give yourself some room.
>The pony that taunted you earlier, eager to attack, knocks one of his comrades aside and charges you head on.
>As he raises his axe, you aim for his exposed underside
>>
>>28930903
>BANG
>"GYAAH!"
>Blood spatters everywhere, coating the walls and his allies in a crimson hue.
>His body, still oozing and spurting the dark liquid, is thrown back onto another of the ponies, causing them to collapse under his weight.
>At the sight of your attack, the other ponies jump, others freeze and one trips in shock.
>CHU-CHUNK
>Your spent shell hits the floor, and your weapon is ready to fire again.
"ANYONE ELSE?!"
>They just look at you, mouths agape, eyes wide in fear of your weapon.
>One of them builds up the courage to drag his fallen ally out of the fray, freeing the pony trapped underneath him.
>"What are you doing?! You're going to stand there as it murders your comrades?! I'll deal with it myself, out of my way!"
>Their leader steps in front of the crowd, and takes his sword and shield in his aura.
>One of the others drops his weapons, walks before his leader, and speaks up.
>"You're aren't being serious, are you!? Look at what just happened! That machine just sent Silver flying, and as far as I know, can do the same to the rest of us! As much as you might want to hurt that thing, I don't think you could stand a chance! Maybe if it weren't for your damned temper, we wouldn't have to be dealing with this right now!"
>His outburst is met with the menacing glare of his superior. However, he stands firm against him.
>The leader grits his teeth.
>"Grr, fine! If you would rather flee than avenge your fallen brother, be my guest! Out of my sight, you are relieved from duty!"
>The soldier looks up to his superior, before spitting at his hooves and dropping his helmet.
>The others begin to drop their helmets as well, leaving the room behind him.
>As his soldiers begin to exit the room, their leader stares at the dying body of his fallen pony as it's carried away in magic.
>One by one they leave, until eventually, only their former leader is left.
>Your posture hasn't changed. You're still pointing your weapon, yet he doesn't seem to care.
>>
>>28930910
>He looks at you for a moment, before speaking.
>"My soldiers have left me, but I will not go against my oath to my superiors. I will not falter as easily as they have."
>He clashes his sword and shield together.
>"Are you ready?"
>You're silent.
>He's dumb if he thinks he can take you.
>"Very well."
>Well, he's got courage, that's for sure.
>The pony rears up on his legs before charging you.
>He makes it about two feet before you pull the trigger.
>BANG
>No scream.
>What?
>CHU-CHUNK
>Looking up, you only see his shield before being knocked to the ground.
>As you look up, you see him standing above you.
>You can't see his face, but he's raising his sword.
>Out of instinct you grab your shotgun and hold it over your head.
>As he brings his sword down, you meet it halfway with your gun.
>Before he can acknowledge what just happened, you kick him in the gut, knocking him back just enough.
>By now you've managed to recollect yourself.
>And your 8-gauge.
>Before you can shoot, however, the pony is lifted into the air.
>Xore has roused from his previous state, holding the pony up with one hand..
>As he gasps for breath, Xore studies his facial expression.
>He shakes his head in disapproval, then drops the pony onto the ground.
>"Leave, now! He tried to give you the gift of mercy, do not think that I will do the same."
>At a loss, the helpless pony looks around, considering his options.
>The little guy looks up at Xore before scurrying out of the room in shame.
>"My body aches and I feel incredible pain. What happened?"
"We've got no time. Long story short," you point to the battering ram, "That thing knocked you down and I was ambushed. I held my own but I fear that this is not over. Before we leave, however, you might want to grab your things from the chest. This could get worse."

Read the "Dune" saga, if you haven't already.
An old classic, although very weird kind of Sci-Fi : not much star-ship or laser, but a lot of stuff about transcendence, evolution, religion and prescience.

Fair warning if you liked Culture's AIs & Asimov's robots : in the Dune universe computers and AI have been banned thousand of years ago - which is why the plot revolve about the need for humans to be able to perform any super-AI task by themselves.

So, Duane 'The "Weeaboo Wrecker" Rock' Johnson is still at large in Japan and has severely injured me, but fortunately, Cillian Murphy has stepped in to handle 'The Rock' for a bit while I recover/train. Thanks to Cillian's micro-scale-organism-cluster-hivemind/non-newtonian-fluid-sub-dermal constitution, he can hold out for long enough to give me some time to get this long overdue update out.

Pastebin (which you may want to check considering not only the time since the last update, but also the name-fiasco/clusterfuck that happpened at the time): http://pastebin.com/jydxcGfx

>Which is of course why you’re hiding in a box!
>You wouldn’t want to prevent Twilight from some important friendship lesson that she’ll certainly gain from getting home and dealing with the horrifying monster invading the library!
>It’s totally not because you’re scared the horrifying monster.
>That’s really big.
>And evil-looking
>And terrifying.
>And sounds like it’s getting closer.
>Nope, not scared at all!

>You peak through the key hole.
>You try to get a view of the stairs.
>As you try to get your head at the correct angle you see the whipping motion of a silver appendage.
>Your breath hitches as you freeze, an eye still pressed against the tiny aperture.
>As the monster comes into view, you finally get a decent look at it.
>It looks like a mess of armour and metal snakes, draped with a ragged red heap of fabric.
>You tried to put the worrying blood-like hue of the garment from your mind.
>It held a great weapon that looked oversized, even for the bearer’s massive hunched stature.
>The blade’s shape and size made it look more like something out of a comic book than a tool for fighting.
>And those metal-snake-things writhe and coil about it, as if they’re looking for mice to snap up and devour.
>The thing moves as though it were gliding, though looking to the frayed base of its clothing, it’s clear that it is walking, just on far too many legs.
>It looks like it’s walking towards Twilight’s desk.
>You hear the ruffling of scrolls.
>And a scratching sound of…
>Writing?
>Is it writing a message?
>You begin to lift up the lid a little to get a better view…
>And immediately drop it when one of the metal snakes whips around towards you.
>You look through the keyhole at the glowing green head of the snake that seems to glare back.
>The impromptu stare off seems to linger for a terrible length of time, with only the sound of whirring and ticking coming from the stooped monster in the background.
>A gust of wind blows through the window and the snake seems to turn away as the monster goes back to writing.
>>
>>28946679

>Apparently having finished with its message, its stoop lessens a little and it makes its way back down the stairs.
>You release a breath you didn’t realise you had been holding.
>Though your hearing is muffled again, it sounds like the monster is messing with something.
>You hear a pattern of a short duration of clacking steps, then a pause, and then something that sounds like a book being taken from one of the shelves.
>This repeats about ten times.
>Then the clacking starts to grow quieter.
>And more distant.
>And at last you are left in silence.

>You scramble out of the box.
>And over to a window.
>You see the monster glide off into the gloom.
“That was too close!”
>Then you remember the monster had written something.
>You turn towards the desk across the room.
>Just in time to see another gust of wind tug it out of the window and into the night.
“Oh.”

“Well that’s just great…”

Back again.

>You wish that would be the end of this brief flurry of activity, but it’s not.
>After all, construction on the government buildings has just begun, and you want them to be perfect, so you’re spending much of your free time there.
>It’s not like you don’t mind.
>It’s actually pretty exciting watching the tall, stately buildings begin to take shape.
>But you can’t spend all of your time in a dusty construction site.
>You’re also building schools like crazy to keep up with a steadily rising birth rate and overseeing the implementation of both the superblock plan and the Homestead Act.
>You’ve created a new government department, the Department of Education, to create federal standards for school curriculum.
>Lancaster’s Education Department is gathering demographics and data, which is being relayed to City Planning, where districts are drawn and schools are designed.
>Seeing so many complex parts of the government collaborating is something you wouldn’t have believed possible on Earth.
>But you digress.
>After a month of surveys and calculations, 89 elementary and middle school districts have been created, along with 46 larger high school districts.
>And once you give your final approval, it’s a matter for the construction crews.
>At the same time, you’re doing even more long-term planning with North Point, because who doesn’t love long-term planning?
>You finish Lancaster’s Standards of Development a few weeks after the school districts are drawn, having looked far into the future and provided guidelines for the entire city’s development until 1930.
>No, you’re still not entirely used to the dating system, even after being on this planet for almost ten years now.
>>
>>28957815
>The large volume creates 7 different superblocks– Single Family, Multi-Family, Transition, Multi-Family Industrial South, Multi-Family Industrial West, Downtown, Industrial, and Farmland– with standardized layouts, describes in detail how they function together and the specific public buildings that must be present, and establishes a land use plan for the undeveloped land outside the current city limits using those superblock designs.
>It’s very, very long, but, luckily, you invented typewriters a while back.
>Implementing the Homestead Act is a whole other story.
>You streamlined the process to make the application process far easier, and, as a result, even more farmers are choosing moving to a completely alien country and working on the land they own as opposed to what amounts to serfdom in Equestria and other countries.
>To put it simply, if there’s only one thing that you didn't do over the past month, it’s sleep.
>Luckily, the next week is far less stressful.
>And the week after that, when things are even less hectic, you figure it’s time to start your next project.
>You set up a small workshop in the garage, parking your household’s various cars in the backyard, and enlist two of AMC’s best engineers, Stray Spark and Socket Wrench, to help you.
>Naturally, they’re sworn to secrecy.
>Wouldn’t want anyone figuring out what you’re building until it’s flying overhead.
>They get to work on the engine, a modified inline four out of an A-8, while you work on the body.
>It’s nothing fancy, just the very bare minimum to save weight as much as possible.
>By the time the body is finished, the engine is modified to increase horsepower (yes, you’re still calling it horsepower) and turn a propeller, and a crude three-axis control system is developed and installed, it’s the beginning of 1908.
>>
>>28957823
>Installation of the engine and final mechanical modifications take another month.
>And, on Saturday, February 15, 1908, you’re ready.
>You tow the finished plane out of the garage in your brand new A-8, with North Point ahead of you in her A-8 roadster and Stray Spark and Socket Wrench behind you.
>As was the case when you first test drove a car, ponies, griffons, diamond dogs, and zebras alike all stop and stare as you make your way out of town.
>But nobody follows you.
>When you’re far past the eastern boulevard and the roads are merely grated in anticipation of pavement, you stop.
>The three other cars all pull off and park, giving you a wide berth as you unhitch the plane and move your car.
>The wind is coming from the west, which means you won’t have to fly into it.
>That’s right, you, the president of a country, are going to be flying in an untested piece of technology.
>It feels good to be a guinea pig again.
>You slap on a crude helmet and a pair of goggles and give North Point a thumbs up after the final inspections.
>Then, with a pull, the engine roars to life.
>You hop in the small seat and look at the controls.
>There aren’t any.
>Here we go.
>You slowly start pulling back on the throttle lever and, with a jolt, you’re moving.
>North Point and the engineers slowly pull away from you as you gain speed.
>And holy shit you’re in the air.
>You feel the ground pull away from you as you slowly gain altitude, nose angled firmly upwards.
>You feel elated!
>It works! It works! It works!
>The wind keeps you aloft, and your careful adjustments of the plane’s pitch, yaw, and roll keep you steady.
>You look behind you and there, maybe fifty feet below you, is North Point, jumping up and down and cheering.
>Not wanting to push it, you start reducing the engine’s power until the nose dips back down.
>After some deceleration and adjustments, you’re on the ground again.
>>
>>28957825
>You cut off the engine and you roll to a stop on the plane’s fixed landing gear.
>Almost immediately, North Point drives over and launches herself out of her car and onto you.
>”That was incredible! You were flying! How did it feel?”
>You laugh.
“It was exhilarating.”
>”You’ve got to let me test it out once or twice.”
“Oh, of course. What kind of person would I be if I didn’t let as many people as possible fly in one of these?”
>Once your heart stops pounding, you measure the distance of your flight.
>Five hundred fifty feet.
>Not bad.
>Naturally, it’s right back to the garage to start refining the shit out of it.
>You task the engineers with building a rotary engine while you modify a few other mechanical components.
>But after about a month of gradual refinement and testing, you decide that you’re not moving quickly enough with this.
>You need more minds on this project.
>You quickly patent the technology and start designing a small airport to serve as the base of operations for the new Arcadian Aviation Company.
>It takes up four blocks on the edge of town, and contains a small office building, a runway, a hangar, and a workshop.
>The area just south of it has space for some small, newly-built apartment buildings, one of which you’re building for the staff of engineers.
>You quickly take out a page in the Lancaster Review to explain the new technology and look for potential pilots and engineers.
>Naturally, the number of applicants is in the thousands.
>It takes the work of three secretaries to reduce the number to something manageable, and after a series of interviews, you’ve whittled it down to a list of fifteen applicants.
>All fifteen of them accept the offer.
>>
>>28957833
>It takes a few months to build the facility, and in that time, you spend your free time teaching the group about airplane mechanics.
>And when the airport finally opens, things really pick up.
>All fifteen of them begin working together on five different airplanes, with your supervision.
>You wish you could spend more time there, but you have many, many other pet projects and companies that you’ve long lost interest in, their purpose fulfilled, that still require your management.
>At this point, it’s getting a little ridiculous, so you decide to do the only logical thing in this situation and sell them to yourself.
>That is, you’re going to start nationalizing.
>Since this is a democracy, you decide to exercise one of the articles in the Constitution and hold a referendum to gauge the public’s opinion.
>The date is set for June 23, a month from today, and that time passes very quickly.
>The city keeps growing and construction on the capital and the surrounding park draws closer to completion.
>Citizens are informed of the most basic arguments for and against the action through a brief article in the Review.
>”Although nationalizing the aforementioned companies would give the government an additional source of revenue, many would say it places too much power in the hands of the government. Ultimately, which side proves to be right is yet to be determined. Right now, it is the responsibility of every citizen in Arcadia to exercise their newly-established democratic right and vote.”
>There isn’t much campaigning on either side, just a steady supply of accurate information.
>And, after the votes are counted, the result is clear.
>97 percent voted for nationalization, with 95 percent turnout.
>So you start the process.
>>
>>28957838
>The Department of Commerce oversees the transaction, and you sell each company you own for a token fee of a dollar each.
>A Board of Directors is created for each company, each consisting of the Secretary of Commerce and a handful of dedicated executives, most of whom were already part of the company before.
>And on July 1, 1908, the following companies are brought under the umbrella of the federal government:
>The Arcadian Development Company, responsible for most, if not all, construction in Lancaster.
>The Arcadian Motor Company, which builds the A-Series.
>The Arcadian Communication Company, which manages the telephone and telegraph systems.
>The Arcadian Aviation Company, which manages the airport.
>The Arcadian Electric Company, which provides electricity.
>The Arcadian Mining Company, which runs the mines that dot the hills outside of Lancaster.
>The Arcadian Steel Company, which, naturally produces steel.
>The Arcadian Plumbing Company, which provides water and sewage treatment to Lancaster.
>The Arcadian Railroad Company, which manages the railroad linking Arcadia with Equestria.
>And, lastly, the Arcadian Innovation Company, which develops, patents, and sells whatever miscellaneous technology you dream up.
>You’re very good with names.
>You walk away from the meeting with ten one dollar bills, each with the company they represent written on them just for shits and giggles, in your back pocket.
>You’re still the head of each company, but you can let the ones you’re less interested in coast and throw yourself into the ones you really care about.
>Isn’t democracy fun?

Okay, I've got major happening going on in my life right now, and cannot focus on my green. This does not mean I will be canning it, more like working on it on the side of what's going on right now.

Essentially, what's going on is probably the biggest thing I've ever done in my entire life. I'm 18, living with my family, and I'm preparing to leave them to live with a friend in Texas.

Nobody knows of my plans at this moment, but after I was grabbed by the throat by my father today, I've been starting to plan on leaving. He's been like this all my life, and has hurt me on multiple occasions. The course of these events will be taking course over the next couple months as I raise money to do whatever I can to leave.

I'm going to be pawning much of what I own, including my pc and old appliances. I'm taking extra hours at work whenever I possibly can in hopes of gaining as much money as possible.
I'm going to be doing all of this with nobody knowing. I'm essentially going to disappear when they least expect it. I've had it with this family I've lived with and even though I love most of them, some of them are just too much to handle.

The course of these events will be taking place over the next few months, and I plan on leaving sometime in February. This is no simple task, and until that time posting will be at an absolute minimum.

I know I said I'd never abandon the story, but after what's happened today and all my life I've had it with them

Of course, if any of you have questions feel free to ask them. I'll answer however I can. Thanks for reading, I've got to get some sleep.

I've wondered why some writefags don't, to be honest. There are plenty of stories I'd pay to see updated.
>>
>>28958857
All memeing aside, it usually ends up going downhill. Either the writefag can't keep up with the schedule they promised their patrons or they slowly start putting more and more behind a paywall. Yeah, there are tons of really good stories that I'd gladly pay to read, but if they'd been paywalled from the start it'd likely be a different story.
>>
>>28958837
Fair point, I guess I could set something up and see where it goes. I need to figure out some rewards as I don't want to just take people' money.
>>
>>28958867
It's down to the writefag, then. There's a way to make it so that people pay on a per-release basis. If the writefag ensured their quality stays high, I don't think there's a problem. If they don't, then people stop supporting them.

well since this is about sciense and progress in equestria or beneath it might as well post it here

"Why?" you ask confused
>"Since they can't outmaneuver us they will simply wait for us to get closer, a risky move since now they can only counter attack but smart since they can now actually fire at us." Mercédès answers a little annoyed
"Can't we just evade them and chase another ship?" you ask trying to avoid getting into a fight
>"If we do that then they will just do the same." she answers while looking contemplative
"Then lets outrun them, with our combustion engines well leave them behind." you suggest with optimism
>Mercédès looks at you for a moment before turning back to the front window
>"We don't have enough fuel to make it all the way to canterlot, and once we slow down they will surely catch up with us" she answers in a flat tone
>The deck remain silent waiting for Mercédès to give orders
>Mercédès Breaks the silence with a chuckle “good thing we took the prototypes with us”
>You can only feel the unease inside you grow as she gleefully reaches for the intercom
>”Police girl, get to the top deck and introduce 'Little Hansel' to our friends of the secret service!” She commands with a smile on her face
“C-Captain, who's 'Little Hansel'?” you ask already dreading the answer
>”Another of lord anonymous unpublished projects, this one wasn't even developed further than a simple concept and a few sketches.”
“Ok, but what IS 'Little Hansel'?”
>”Why don't you go take a look for yourself? Just take the stairs all the way up.” she answers while steering the ship away from the enemy fleet
>you meekly nod and take the stairs to the top deck as Rainbow Dash follows behind you
>>
>>28961001

>on your way up you meet with Abbé and Ivan as they make their way up as well
>”Ah, Princess, come to see the fire works as well” Abbé greets as he continues to climb the stairs
“I want to see what 'Little Hansel' is, all I know is that its some kind of machine designed by Anonymous.”
>”well it's really more like a prototype made by taking the general concepts described by Lord Anonymous notes and sketches, the actual design and construction was made in Grifmany by our own engineers.”
“Yes, but what is it then?” you ask rather annoyed
>”'Little Hansel' is of being Cannon miss Sparkle.” Clarifies Ivan
“A Cannon?”
>”A powerful one, Anonymous called it a howitzer in his notes, but since most of the parts described weren’t even sketched we had to fill in the blanks, the official name would be falcon-Kanone-96. Or FK-96 for short.” Abbé explains as he climbs to the top deck
>”Sounds cool! but what so special about that cannon anyway?” asks dash eager to see more cannonfire
>”ah, you will see soon miss Rainbow, very soon”
> Abbé then opens the door at the top of the staircase to the top deck
>A wist of wind hits you as you examine you surroundings
>The top deck is right bellow the massive balloon, you can see several balconies with balistas and shiels afixed to them
>At the bow you could see DuskVictory and a couple of batponies pushing something under a sailcloth thowards the front galley
>”Soo, police girl are we ready to fire yet?” quips Abbé as he and Ivan make their way towards them
>”It would be faster if you helped us master Abbé.” she quips back
>”That why we of here comrade victory!” answers Ivan as he and Abbé push the cannon into position
>”we just need to get it settled and well be ready to fire.” comments one batpony

“Aren't we too far though?” you ask as you and rainbow join the effort
>”Princess your about to witness the strength of gunboat diplomacy.” declares Dusk as she affix chains and hooks to the cannon
“But we're almost two miles away from the enemy fleet now.”
>”Not a problem for 'Little Hansel'!” exclaims Abbé as he pulls the sailcloth from the cannon
music related: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wnNl2uph-D8 (Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows [OST] #3 - Tick Tock)
>'Little Hansel' looks like a rather light cannon with a loot of rails and piston bolted on
>”this is 'Little Hansel'? It doesn't look that impressive if you ask me.” declares an unimpressed rainbow dash
>”Ha! Wait until you see it in action!” replies Dusk as she meddles with the many cranks and wheels of the cannon
>”You might wanna put these on princess.”Say Abbé as he hands you a pair of sound ear muffs
>You comply and pass another set of earmuff to rainbow, whom put them on rolling her ayes at you
>”Set range at two miles.” instructs Dusk with loud voice
>”Confirmed, loading a high explosive shell” replies a bat pony on the back of the cannon
“High Explosive?”
>”It means that explodes on a timer,” replies Abbé yelling so you can hear him
>You watch as they load some sort of canister into the back of the cannon
>”loaded!” shouts the bat pony
>”Armed!” shouts the other
>”targeted!” shout Dusk
>”FIRE!” Shouts Abbé
>As he does a deafening blast shocks you to your very core as a shinning spear of lead and fire flies through the skies at a blinding speed
>In an instant the shell hits one airship that then explodes in arcane fire
>”RELOAD!” orders Abbé
>”loaded!” shouts the bat pony
>”Armed!” shouts the other
>”targeted!” shout Dusk
>”FIRE!” Shouts Abbé
>And once again the deafening blast and impossibly fast projectile destroys another ship
>You can only watch in awe and horror as one by one the secret service fleet is destroyed

>in less than a minute four ships are send burning into the ground
>The remaining airships either running away or flying toward you at ramming speed
>”AIM FOR THE RUNNING SHIPS LET THE BOMBARDS DEAL WITH THE CLOSER ONES!”
>You don't even get a chance to protest as the deafening blast takes down another ship
>You turn to Rainbow and see that she is shocked at the display of fire and lead
“ABBE PLEASE STOP!” you beg, but is already to late as the last of the running ships explodes in fire
> the ship flying towards you don't fare any batter as the bombards tear them to shreds

MEANWHILE SOMEWHERE UNDER FILLYDELPHIA

>You are Anonymous. Master of technology and only human in equestrian
>and you currently overseeing the frame upgrade of you robot-daughter
>At first you were very apprehensive about calling her a daughter
>but considering that her organic brain is pretty much made from a sampling of the top of your own spinal cord tissue modified to have two X chromosomes instead of having you X and Y
>She was supposed to be just an experiment and the first step towards making a sexy gynoid assistant
>This wasn't the first organic mother board you made, but it was the first without a preset limit
>The original penny sized board started to grow and make simple math.
>Next thing you know, you got a baby's brain in a jar complaining about being hungry And scared.
>By then you had plenty of self-aware robots to keep you company.
>But the opportunity of making a whole new human was too much of break through to let it slide past you
>the first attempts to give it a body proved unsuccessful as even a single human sense was to much to the little brain too handle
>so for the last three decades you have been increasing the censorial input
>So today, 29 years after her first logical thought you finally giving her a full fledged nervous system
>”this feels really weird” she whines
“I know.”
>”Why do I even need all this sensors anyway?” she pouts
“I thought you wanted a better frame?”
>”How is this any better, it can't even fly.”
“The last time I gave you a flying frame you crashed it within a day.”
>”then just make it harder.”
“You literally played chicken against a heavy loader drone, what do you think would had happened even if you won?” you lecture her as you finish her left arm terminals

>”hmph. Fine then, but why do all these sensors have pain receptors then. That's an obvious downgrade.”
“Pain is a vital part of the human experience. How do you expect to understand and feel peril if you can just shrug of physical damage.”
>”You could just put a warning, or make my vision turn red the most damage I take like in those video games you make.”
“Eden...”
>”I mean its not like the damage its permanent. You can just fix me if I broke”
“Eden...”
>”Hell you could provably just make another me if-”
“EDEN!”
>”y-yes?”
“I could not, even with all the science and magic of this world, make another you.” you tell her holding her chin with you hand
>She bashfully look at you as you continue
“Your thoughts, your feeling, all that makes you who you are, are unique and irreplaceable. You may change parts and bits, but you are more than the sum of your parts.”
>”Then why do you insists in giving me pain? What could I possibly win from that?”
>You sigh and you a hand through her hair
“Growing up means enduring pain, and rising above yourself.”
>”But why do I have to grow up? Why do you want me to grow up? Why Can't I just be like Babylon or Perseus.”
“Because I love you, and I want you to live life to the fullest.”
>For a while all she do is blush and avoid looking at you
>She finally meet you gaze with meek smile
>”Dad,”
“Yes sweetheart”
>”Your hand is to rough”
“I know.”

>”Can you take it of my head please?“
“Sure ,we about to be done anyway” you say as you turn to focus on her right hand
>”Really?”
“Yeah, just the finishing touch and- there we go.” you say as you finish linking the last bits of the nerve net

“Good, are all Requested units ready to move?”

“What about scouting, do we have a full mapping of the mud goblin hive and its perimeter?”
>”All scouting protocols fulfilled and archived.”
“Excellent, Have the Hades drones flank and cover all possible routes of escape and then let the Zeus drones gas the hive.”
>”Acknowledge. Permission to proceed?”
“Proceed at once” you order as a swarm of drones move into action
>Normally you would just order this operation from the command center, but this time you have to make sure that all of those parasites die

absolutely loving your story, Read all of it today.
I realy like the direction it seems to be going in.
Only critique i have is the jump from anon digging with stones to having semingly sentient AI. Dont get me wrong, if you look at how long it took in real life to go from industrialisation to Computers then 800 years is perfectly reasonable, espechaly if you add some magice shenadigans. I just wish you would have made a more gradual progress from stones to tech.
Evrything besides that seems great, i like it.
Just dont slip from the political intrigue stuffs into some Steampunk airship battle BS.

I said that putting myself in Anon's shoes.
Accused and convicted of a crime you didn't commit, betrayed by your seemingly only two friends, put through a torturous ritual so you could live forever alone in a small dark cave?
If I ever dug myself out and had any strength or power to my name, I would kill everything I could get my hands on slowly and painfully, leaving Celestia alive so she could spend the rest of her immortal life in anguish.
It might be edgelord tier, but I just don't think I'd have anything but hate and revenge on my mind after all that, assuming I even still had my mind at that point.

Hey DB you ever planning on "The Earth is Round Twilight"?
>>
I would like a story about Ayy-Anon abducting spider ponies, harvesting their silk and then releasing them soaked in alcohol.

example of silk harvesting:

>>28976566
>holy fuck it's like a blowjob in your mouth
kinda hard for it to be anywhere else

>soaked in alcohol
Wait, dont spiders get drunk on coffee?
>>

There's a saloon in Appleloosa called "The Salt Block" where ponies serve salt to customers. They implied that ponies get all funny when they drink salty water, or licking rock salt.
I wounder if they sniff salt.

did people like that? I dropped it cause I thought no one was really reading it besides one or two people

Looking back on desuarchive the last update in march did cause some discussion as people were debating if Celestia suppressing tech for less brutal wars was justified. So I guess there was some audience for it

I'm making a list of all the things I've promised to explain. That's on it. I'm sure I've forgotten something by now, hopefully it's not too important.

>>28921535
This is part of it. It won't come up in fiction of course, but from a storytelling perspective it's important. I could have ended it a long time ago with 'Anon fixes everything and there are no problems ever again the end'. That wouldn't be a good read.

>>28922249
I'd never heard of it. Looks interesting.

"Yes, Twilight?"
>"What are those?"
>You turn your head from your scuffed-up Game Boy to see Twilight poking at a couple of black rectangles sitting on the windowsill
"Oh, those are solar chargers."
>Twilight snapped her head around at you, a little too fast for your liking

"Well, they don't -take- it, per se. They act like...uh..."
>you look out the window to see the Apple family farm in the distance
"Like leaves from a tree! They convert sunlight into electricity and that's all they do. No leeching of the sun's energy here. Nope."
>Twilight raises her eyebrow at you
>you feel a bead of sweat drip down the back of your neck
>Suddenly Twilight is pressing her nose against your own
>"Amazing! So you can convert and store the sun's power for later? Does it work by collecting the sun's energy directly, or is it a passive process using heat transfer? Oh! I think I've read a paper somewhere on light behaving like tiny objects, is it like that, or..."
>you slump down as Twilight continues blabbering about the theories of heat generation by sunlight while slapping her hooves away from the little panels currently charging your other devices.
>She's not going to quiet down any time soon
>you look out the window at the Apple farm
>looks like you'll be crashing at Applejack's place tonight

>”Then, I believe that it would be best if we meet that the ship's lunch counter.” replies Abbé.
>”We?” ask applejack
>”Of course. After all, I'm sure your friends must have questions of their own.”
> You, Spike and Abbé go to the infirmary to fetch fluttershy, pinkie and rarity. while Applekjack goes up to the upper deck to get rainbow dash.
>”Excuse me, Mr Crimsonblood?” spike ask nerviously
>”Yes lad?”
>”How did the secret service intervene me? I though twilight's letters could only get to the princess.” spike asks, fidgeting with his claws.
>You were wondering about that now that he mention it
>”A flame-mail spell its easy to counter or modify if one has access to one of the casters, really all you need is a seal, a rune, a potion or even cast the counter spell yourself.”
>”Perhaps they feed you potion without you noticing, or put a spell on you while you sleep.”
“If its so easy to counter, then why did the princess place on spike to begin with?” you ask more than a little concerned about such blatant disregard for your safety and Spike's.
>”Most of the knowledge about old spells such as flame-mail is forgotten, one would need access to an ancient magic tome or to be an elder alicorn to know this kind of things.”
>So the secret service had access to ancient magic then.
>Can things get any worse?

SOMEWHERE UNDER DODGE JUNCTION

music related: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M2LqXQrW214 (Nuclear Throne OST - Labs Theme)

>The mustard clouds begin to disperse and the chorus of railguns and machine-guns comes to a silence as the last mud goblin is sent screaming into oblivion.
>You allow yourself a little satisfaction on that.
>You are Anonymous, bane of the underworld and builder of terrible wonders.
>As you walk through the now empty hive of the mud goblins, you feel reassured in your contempt to these parasites.
>All over the hive there are pieces of your old machinery fashioned into crude tools and shelter.
>>
>>29004716

>Inside some holes you can see some minerals and gems gleam through the mud.
>As you travel deeper into the damp an filthy hive, you remember an old draconian proverb .
“Nothing good ever comes from under the mud.”
>And you can see the truth in that.
>The little progress they had made has been archive by looting and raiding your mines.
>Even other goblins consider them savages, barely above gremlins.
>The only two things they have going in their favor is they are somewhat organized and their ability to use tools.
>But even that was a stretch.
>the single tactic they have, is to storm their objective, take as much as they could and then run away.
>Only the higher ranks of their hives know to write and read.
>And even fewer know how to work metals.
>Most of their tools are either bones or appropriately shaped scrap
>However there is one thing that they do on their own.
>And when you reach the center of the hive you will begin to search for it
>Of course Hector and a few Zeus-21 are already waiting for you there.
>”Sir. All premises have been secured. All units ready and waiting orders.”
“Good. Did we get everything back?”
>”Negative sir. We still missing approximately 160 kilograms of scrap.”
“Maybe some hoarders left the hive before we arrived. Have some Hades do some scouting to see if we can still catch them.”
>”Acknowledged. Beginning scouting.”
>you simply nod in response as you look around the throne room.
>There must be a few metric tons of ore and scrap in this room.
>Truly disgraceful. If they had the drive to do it, they could have easily turn half of this into weapons and armor.
>you can also see some ancient trinkets and treasures doting the scrap pile
>most likely from a dragon hoard or a gnome tomb.
“You two.” you point at two of the drones in the room “look for anything resembling a book or a scroll.” you order them pointing at the pile.

>of course they don't dare go any further than that.
>There are also the locations of many other mud hives around equestria.
>Another map shows where the rock goblins have been mining for the last few years.
>A particular scroll however, seems to contain a report about a horrible creature named “shugholt' the eater of souls” living deep beneath the hayseed swamps.
>Right by mine 6-13b
>Well, at least now you know the name of that thing you dropping tetra-phosphate on.
>You should probably check on that before you return home to dinner.
>witch will be in about three hours, better wrap things up around here and leave.
“Ok. Did you two found anything?”
>Each drones drag a couple of metal boxes towards you.
>Judging by the engraving on the sides you can tell that they are gnome strongboxes.
>all of them are covered by scratches. its obvious that the goblins failed to open them.
>not a problem to your drones, whom cut right through the hinges.
>Inside you see several books and gems.
>And if the glowing gems are related to the book they're stored with, you can assume that these are ancient magic tomes.
“Jackpot.”

A valid criticism. I waved that off in mine by saying 'cybernetics', and even then I repeatedly say that he lacks knowledge and expertise that the people back home would have, but even so your point stands. He's too good. Part of why I'm ditching humans for the next one.

>You are Luna.
>You’re quite worried.
>You tried to contact the nameless one- to ask about the extra suns.
>But there’s no answer.
>Every other time he’s responded in a few seconds.
>But this time it’s been nearly an hour with nothing.
>Normally you wouldn’t be too worried.
>You’d just assume he was preoccupied.
>And indeed, it’s likely that’s what’s happening now.
>The cause of your worry is the question of just what he’s preoccupied with.
>You peer out the window and find three suns once more.
>The extra two are fading slowly, but you suspect that they’ll remain well into the night.
>What would light up the sky so brilliantly?
>A few falling stars grace the brightly lit sky.
>No. Not stars.
>Debris falling into the atmosphere and burning up from the friction.
>How they burnt brightly enough to show through the daylight you’re not certain.
>One more thing to worry yourself about.
>But you’re finding no answers and wasting time.
>You need to know what’s going on, and as far as you can tell, you’ve no way of figuring it out on your own.
>And so you place the communications rectangle in your bags and throw them over your back.
>You’ve things to do and places to be.
>Hopefully it’s safe to return to Celestia and plan your next actions.
>You’ve much to discuss.
>The future of Equestria is entirely uncertain; none of your plans will endure the myriad of changes.
>A year ago you didn’t have ponies running about who were more metal than flesh.
>>
>>29006068
>Though uncertain in what ways, you’ve absolutely no doubt that this will throw your plans into disarray.
>Most ponies plan days in advance.
>Some think years ahead.
>Your sister and you? You tend to go for centuries.
>When you try to peer that far into the future you must make some assumptions.
>Assumptions like ‘ponies die when you kill them’, or ‘a hyper intelligent ape from a different world won’t come by and pick a fight with god’.
>You’re going to need to rethink everything.
>And you have no clue where to start.
>Your end goal is clear.
>Ponykind will transcend- MUST transcend.
>But how to get there…
>And what to do about the mess in your way?
>You need to take care of Sparkle before she can do too much damage.
>It’d be easy to stop her right now, but sister won’t allow it.
>You climb the stairs towards the smashed wall-
>Sparkle stands before it.

>”I think I have a right to know what’s happening in MY home. Are you going to tell me why there’s a hole in the wall or not?”

>”It’s not your home. Your home is in Ponyville. This place belongs to Princess Celestia!”

>That sounded like Spitfire.
>Is she standing standing up to an alicorn?
>A clearly enraged alicorn with a wicked snarl upon her face to boot!
>You don’t know her well, but you already like her.

>”You DARE to defy your betters? You’d oppose your QUEEN?”

>”Oh, of course not. Thing is my betters aren’t here, and you aren’t my queen. I’m loyal to Princess Celestia, not YOU. Remember that.”

>”Move aside or I’ll move you myself.”

>Spitfire steps out of the hidden chamber standing tall and proud.
>Despite being shorter than Sparkle she still appears to tower above her.
>She exudes confidence from every pore.
>And she stands firm in the entrance.
>Unmoving.
>>
>>29006076
“That’s quite enough. Your bravery is commendable, Captain, but I’d advise you not provoke her. The pony with whom you speak is dangerously insane and prone to violent outbursts and, sadly, she could easily overpower you.”

>A small smile flashes across Twilight’s face in the instant before she realises what you just said.
>You briefly consider elaborating but soon decide to heed your own advice.
>You shan’t outright insult her without good reason.
>But how desperately you crave a reason.

>”Luna. You’re going to take me to your sister. Move.”

“I’m afraid she isn’t taking visitors just now. If you wish for me to relay a message I can, but that’s all I can offer you.”

>”You’re lying, aren’t you? Yes, yes of course! Why else wouldn’t you let me see her? It all makes sense! Nopony could survive that, you’re just trying to use her to manipulate me!”

>She marches up to you and looks you dead in the eye.

>”You’d use a tragedy to try and control me? You’re disgusting.”

>The temptation is too strong.
>You can’t hold your tongue.

“You’d use a noose to try and control others. You’re deplorable.”

>She quickly and viciously strikes you in the chest with her hoof.
>You crumple slightly but do not fall.

“Hold-”

>You quickly wheeze out the command even though none of your agents should be nearby.
>You asked them to stay clear of this place to protect your sister’s privacy.
>But being unable to see them yourself, you can’t confirm that none followed you.
>’Tia still wants Sparkle unharmed.
>There’s not a chance of that happening, but you’re not going to kill the wretch.
>And it’s likely your ‘bolts would do just that if they saw happened.
>You feel pretty good about yourself despite the pain.
>Calling her on her stupidity was just too satisfying.
>It takes mere seconds for you to collect yourself.

“Ask yourself. Would you have struck me a month ago?”
>>
>>29006080
>”I- you’re trying to distract me, aren’t you?”

>Not a bad idea.
>But truthfully you just wanted to take a cheap shot at her.
>Twilight’s horn lights up with a dark glow and you can feel a crushing grip about your neck.
>Within an instant you can feel your hooves leaving the ground as she lifts you.
>Somepony shouts something. You can’t make out what.
>And then?
>You fall.
>It doesn’t take long recover; you hadn’t been in her grip long enough to wind up short on breath.
>When you stand you see Spitfire wobbling back up to her hooves having apparently been attacked too.
>Twilight lays on the cold cobblestone.
>A small trickle of blood leaking from her head.
>Scraps of broken wood lay around her, seemingly the remnants of a shelf.

>”What. Is. WRONG WITH YOU!?”

>Celestia roars as she stands on her felled student.
>One heavy hoof pressing down on your assailant’s back keeping her from moving.
>Celestia...
>She still sounds wrong.
>The tones in her voice are somewhat granular. Rather than gradually change in pitch they suddenly switch.
>Quick enough and in small enough increments that it’s hard to tell just what’s wrong, but it’s readily apparent that something’s off.
>And the phonemes don’t quite blend together right. They flow into each other too readily, not barred by the physical motion of a tongue or the passage of breath.
>It is a voice that is distinctly un-natural; she sounds more like Him than herself.
>And that’s just the sounds.
>The visual changes are another matter.
>Her bald head and missing tale are the least striking things about her.
>All those readily visible joints in the metal plating, the distinctly metallic sheen of her cutiemark, the lack of texture on the paint-
>It matters not.
>The secret’s out.
>Twilight teleports out with a dark flash.
>The fact that she didn’t attack Celestia isn’t lost on you, she chose a passive means of escape.
>>
>>29006085
>A brilliant shield rings around her preventing all chances of approach.
>You can feel the incredible power radiating off of her.
>And truth be told?
>You envy it.
>Twilight stands almost immediately totally ignoring her injury.
>You don’t need to guess at why.
>The pleasure of the magic is washing away her pain.
>She might not even know she’s injured yet.

>”Heh. So THAT’S what you were hiding.”

>”WHY would you DO THAT? I- What happened to you, Twilight?”

>”Simple. Either Luna was lying and Celestia was dead, or she was actually out there somewhere. If she was lying I’d want her gone anyway. And if Celestia was alive, there’s not a damn thing in the world that would stop her from protecting Luna, and I’d be able to see her with my own eyes. What are you?”

>Celestia doesn’t speak. She just stares at Twilight preparing to pounce.
>Spitfire has produced a small blade from somewhere. Perhaps it was tucked beneath her wing?
>Many of your guard have arrived and stand abreast in the stairway making no attempt to remain hidden.
>It looks like it’s up to you to talk.

”She is Princess Celestia-”

>You croak the words out of your abused throat.

“I know because I put her back together myself.”

>”Hm. A likely story. Throne Room, five minutes.”

>A blinding flash fills the room, and she disappears.
>Your guards stand upstairs staring down at your sister with clear apprehension.
>Her staff have arrived from below and look up with uncertainty and fear.
>There’s no escape from this one.
>You’ve been found out.
>You’re stuck here.

>”Well? Aren’t you maggots going to bow?”

>Spitfire barks as she climbs down the stairs to face the guardsponies.

>”I expect trash like you to show some RESPECT to the PRINCESSES! Each and every one of you get down to the yard. We’re doing a five kilometer timed run. You pegasi best damn well forget you have wings, this is a RUN! MOVE!”
>>
>>29006092
>All the soldiers bolt the moment she finishes speaking.
>Yours included.
>Spitfire runs after them.

“That was fast.”

>”The good captain has worked as a drill instructor. She knows how to make a soldier obey. Though surprisingly, one of your agents is still here.”

>Surprisingly?
>It’s not at all surprising to you.
>Classified Document doesn’t take orders from anypony.
>Save for yourself of course.
>Still, the good captain’s feat thoroughly impressed you.
>You definitely need to learn how she did that.
>But for now...

“Do we go to Twilight?”

>”Yes.”

>No hesitation.
>No pause.
>A straight and flat answer.
>But you’re not so sure.

“I don’t wish to be near her right now. She’s dangerous.”

>”You don’t need to follow, but I’m going. I need to talk to her.”

>She’s being quite firm on this.
>Celestia’s normally the sort of pony who’s willing to rethink everything.
>Who will second guess herself on reflex.
>She rarely changes her mind and even less frequently admits to being wrong.
>And indeed she’s almost always right in the end.
>But she ALWAYS entertains the idea that she might be wrong.
>That there might be a better course of action.
>Recent history notwithstanding of course.
>Here and now though, there’s clearly no room for discussion.
>She WILL meet with Sparkle.
>You don’t really understand.
>But you don’t have to.
>You’ll be there to support her.
>And to help bail her out when it all goes wrong.

>”Arm yourself, agent. We’re going in.”

>”No. No soldiers. No weapons. No tricks. Just words.”

“But-”

>”I trust her, Luna. She won’t hurt me.”

“Just how much brain damage did you suffer?”
>>
>>29006098
>Hopefully Document will follow anyway.
>You didn’t call her off after all.
>And you’ve made it quite clear that you don’t want to go in alone.
>Celestia starts walking away, presumably towards the throne room.
>You follow apprehensively.
>Celestia suddenly stops in her tracks.

>”Conventional stealth tactics won’t work on me either. I can hear your heart even when you keep out of sight. You have no chance of tricking me. Your services won’t be needed. Your dagger won’t be enough to harm Twilight Sparkle despite the substance you were rubbing on it, presumably a poison of some sort. If I had to take a wild guess I’d say it’s a nightshade derivative. Twilight will be safe from you because I’ll tell her about you. And should that fail, I’ll remove you myself.”

>She turns to glare at seemingly open space.
>You’ve little doubt about what’s actually there.

>”Hooves off of my protege.”

>Not good.
>You don’t want to go in there unprotected.
>But you’re not going to be able to talk your sister into allowing such a thing.
>The staring contest continues as you think.
>Though it doesn’t take long for you to come across the answer.

“Lose the knife and follow. When things start to go wrong, go fetch help.”

>Hopefully she gets the hint.
>You specifically said no knife.
>You didn’t say she should disarm-

>”I’m no fool, Luna. She has more than one weapon; you’d not have your most trusted agents so lightly armed. I’m afraid this is non negotiable. I’m going to TALK to Twilight. No weapons will be needed.”

>Again, you don’t think you’ll be able to talk her down.
>And it’s unlikely you’ll be able to sneak anything by her on such short notice.
>Your options are limited.
>You can go in unprotected.
>Or you can send her in on her own.
>The latter option never occurs to you.

”What if they were to stand guard outside in case something went wrong?”
>>
>>29006102
>”That would be acceptable. Though it shall prove a waste of time.”

“You really trust her that much? Surely you know what she’s been doing.”

>Celestia starts walking again.
>And Classified follows the both of you.

>”Twilight is stronger than me. She will succeed where I have failed.”

“Nopony can resist this.”

>”You did, after a fashion. I believe that Twilight can as well.”

>To say you resisted is being quite generous.
>And that was after failing catastrophically.
>You had firsthand knowledge of what was going on.
>This is a very bad idea.

“Your bullheadedness will be the end of us.”

>”Don’t use slurs like that. It could be a diplomatic nightmare in this age.”

>All too soon you find yourself in front of the throne room.
>And before you have a chance to object, she pushes in.
>Somehow ‘Tia has dragged you into a room with a mad alicorn while leaving you totally defenceless.
>But what you see inside catches you off guard.
>No crazed alicorn waiting in ambush.
>No hordes of soldiers lunging at you with spears.
>Just Twilight Sparkle sitting on the throne.
>On YOUR THRONE.
>You grind your teeth a little.
>Even the hyper intelligent creature from beyond the stars…
>The being you spent months trying to kill.
>The one whom you assaulted with disgusting magicks and illegal spells.
>HE not only granted you your throne, he BUILT one for you.
>And SHE would claim yours?
>This slight will not be forgotten.
>And once you’ve wiped the BLINDING RAGE from your eyes, you see Cadence.
>Standing next to sister’s throne.
>Not upon it.
>What she lacks in confidence she has in respect.
>You step inward after your sister.
>You fail to notice the door close behind you as you cautiously eye Twilight.
>As mad as you are about her insulting behaviour, you can’t egg her on.
>You need to show more restraint and self control than you did last time.

>”WHAT THE HAY IS THAT THING!?"
>>
>>29006105
>Cadence decides to start the conversation by addressing the elephant in the room.
>A turn of phrase that you yourself coined once upon a time.
>Stupid, oversized, crass dignitary thought-

>”I am Princess Celestia. Though I don’t really expect you to believe that, truth be told.”

>Cadence shies away and moves closer to Twilight.
>Away from the harmless, gently, and caring pony.
>Towards the primed bomb that could go off at any moment.
>Why will nopony listen to you?
>She’s DANGEROUS.

>”So you’ve said. That remains to be seen. I’ve spoken with Spike at length, and he seems to be himself. YOU, however… as I said, we’ll see.”

“I gave you an ultimatum, Sparkle. You blew it. I said NO magic, then you try and strangle me with it? I gave you more than your fair share of chances-”

>”Please, Luna. Twilight is stronger than you know. I believe in her. Just let me talk.”

>Of course Celestia is still against you on this one.
>You’re going to have to go behind her back.
>Should be simple enough, sure she’ll figure you out, but by then the job will be done.

>”Wait, what? Twily, did you try to hurt Luna?”

>Hurt.

>”I’ve invited the three of you here today because I need your advice. Equestria’s in bad shape. We have more than our fair share of problems, and I’m not sure I can do this alone. The first order of business-”

>She uses her magic to open a rift in space and produces a scroll.
>A spell which you’re certain she wouldn’t be able to use so casually under ordinary circumstances.
>You’re unsurprised to see blackness radiating from her eyes as she does so.
>The first step will be to get her alone.
>Perhaps you could lure her out somehow?
>It should be easy, she’s unlikely to consider you a serious threat.
>Though if she’s asking for advice she might not be as arrogant as you’d assumed-

>”Is the Pegasopolan secession movement. Discuss.”
>>
>>29006120
>So it’s a test then.
>A test to see how Celestia behaves, how she handles things.
>This might well and truly be Twilight seeking advice, but more than that she’s trying to figure out whether or not Celestia is really herself.
>Hopefully your sister realises this herself.
>More importantly, you hope she behaves like herself.
>You know for a fact that there have been some…
>Changes.
>She still feels the taint after all.

>”Are you sure it’s safe to have that thing in here?”

>Cadence gestures at your sister.
>’That thing’.
>You’ll not forget that insult either.

>”No. I suspect it’s a trick of some sort. But Don’t worry, Cadence. I’ve destroyed those machines before, I can do it again.”

>”Is there truly nothing I can do to convince you I’m me?-”

>”We’ll see. Now, let’s talk about Cloudsdale. As I’m sure you’re all aware, the bulk of the population has voted to separate from Equestria.”

>You hadn’t heard that.
>It’s probably been covered in great detail in one of your reports, but you’ve not read through them yet.
>How much have you allowed the kingdom to decay?

>”Please, my student. I beg of you. Stop using that damnable magic. It’s tainting your mind.”

>”If you’ve nothing useful to say on the issue at hoof, you may leave.”

>Twilight lazily gestures at the door behind you.
>You hope against reason that Celestia will accept the offer.
>She nods slowly before speaking.

>”I’ll need to be brought up to speed as I’ve only returned to Canterlot today.”

>Of course.
>>
>>29006128
>”There are many heretics who worship the ape. They call him Zaius. God of lightning, slayer of Titans etcetera. To make matters worse, many pegasi have forgotten their place. They think themselves better than unicorns, as laughable as that may be. Because they can summon lightning they think themselves to be the ape’s chosen, and that he came here to show them that they were wasting their gift. To show them what lightning can truly do. And so they wish to be free of my rule so that they might govern themselves. I’m having difficulty figuring out how to besiege Cloudsdale “

“Besiege.”

>”Indeed. If they think they can just leave Equestria they have another thing coming. Treason shall be punished by death. And each and every one of them is guilty.”

>”WHAT? Do you mean you’re going to slaughter everypony in Cloudsdale?”

>”Of course, Cadence. It’ll be a good warning to the rest.”

>You’re totally unphased by this news.
>It’s pretty much what you’d expected.
>Celestia doesn’t seem all that bothered either.
>Though that might just be her acting.
>Silence hangs in the air for nearly a minute.
>It’s clear that Twilight is growing impatient.
>But you’re certain sister has the answer.
>It’s obvious enough.
>She’s simply choosing her words carefully.
>No need to rush her, she’ll settle on what she’s got should time run low.
>>
>>29006136
>”I propose a simpler solution. We want Equestria to be whole and united, yes? It may be short sighted to force that now when we could ensure it later. Let them leave. There was once a time when they could have made it on their own but that has long passed. Over the centuries they’ve grown greatly dependant on Equestria as a whole. They might be able to wean themselves off of our aid over time, but a sudden separation would be too much. Cloudsdale doesn’t produce anything except weather, they can’t feed themselves without trade. If we allow them to separate and then impose a trade tariff on them them they’ll have an economic crisis within a year at the most. Who else can they trade with? The gryphons? The minotaurs? No, only Equestria has the economic might that they’ve grown accustomed to. No matter what they do they’ll wind up worse off. We can then point to their failure and the rest of Equestria will know they’re better off with us. If we’re really lucky they’d beg to rejoin, and we’d be able to set whatever terms we wanted.”

>”That’s- huh. That’s an interesting proposal. I’ll have to consider it.”

>Is she listening to reason?
>That was wholly unexpected.

>”Luna, do you have any input?”

>Words got through to her.
>And you think you understand how.
>She’s appealing to reason, which is something Twilight values greatly.
>But Celestia’s not directly opposing her with reason.
>She’s trying to change Twilight’s mind by degrees.
>A simpler punitive measure that doesn’t rely on Twilight herself changing her behaviour too much.
>So you need to talk her down without mentioning magic.
>Or disallowing violence.
>That’s interesting…
>>
>>29006144
“I side with sister on this one. It gives those living in Cloudsdale a who remain loyal to Equestria a chance to prove their loyalty by moving out before the separation process is complete. Additionally, it’ll help weed out the unloyal pegasi who live elsewhere as they’ll surely migrate to an independant pegasus nation.”

>Celestia glances at you and subtly nods.
>It seems as though you did what she’d hoped.
>You gave Twilight more reason to not be a psychopath while subtly reinforcing that the pony who stands next to you is indeed princess Celestia.

>”It’s decided. We’ll let them fail on their own.”

>A very hasty decision.
>She’s clearly unfit to rule.
>But now’s not the time to bring that up.

>”Next issue. The displaced ponies living in Canterlot.”

“Already taken care of. The nameless one- sorry, the not-ape has promised to relocate all the cities he’d claimed. When I first finished building ‘Tia’s new body there were some complications. It took nigh on a week to straighten them out, plenty of time to negotiate the process. I suspect he’s already done so.”

>”What complications? This is the first I’ve heard of it!”

>Right.
>Her memories of that period were erased.

”Violent outbursts. We decided to give you a little longer for the magic to wear out before restoring all your faculties.”

>A reminder of the dangers of dark magic that doesn’t directly address Sparkle.
>She shouldn’t consider it a personal attack, but she might still spend a moment to think on her recklessness.
>Hopefully it takes root.

>”You should have given me longer.”

>Celestia mutters the words out softly.
>Words that promise problems to come.
>Your experiences tell you exactly what’s wrong; she knows how she should behave.
>But she doesn’t yet wish to be that way.
>It’s taking willpower to not destroy.
>Something that could fail at any moment.
>But you trust in her.
>>
>>29006150
>She says Twilight is strong.
>But if she knew herself as well as you know her?
>Everypony would appear weak.

>”Not good enough. It will return all the territory it claimed.”

>Cadence nods in agreement.

>”I don’t believe we can make that happen, Twilight. We’ve nothing we can offer him. Indeed, we’re already dependant on charity.”

>”I’m going to take it back.”

“It’s just desert, Twilight. I’m not thrilled about Equestria ceding land either, but I don’t think we can get it back, and it wasn’t all that valuable in the first place.”

>”I advise you to give up on it for now. Maybe we can reclaim it someday, but for now we’ll have to focus on other issues. What’s the next item on the list?”

>Trying to change the subject.
>She probably didn’t think there was a good way to talk Twilight down on this one.
>You’re inclined to agree.

>”Next matter then. The war.”

“Yes. I’d heard about this.”

>You do your best to suppress the anger in your voice.

“It seems ill advised to me.”

>”Agreed. We don’t have the means to oppose them, and we’ve no assurance that they’ll ever return. With the hatchling gone we might never see another one again.”

>”Okay, I’d expect this from you, Luna. You and Cadence are idiots.”

>Cadence looks hurt.
>Understandably so.
>You, however, don’t need to be validated by this whelp.

>”But when ‘Celestia’ doesn’t see what I’m planning I have to start to wonder. Are you really her?”

>”I’ve taken some serious head injuries, Twilight. You’ll have to forgive me if I’m a little slow on the uptake.”

>Twilight scoffs at your sister’s words.

>”A convenient excuse. I know we can’t harm the Titans, it’s beyond our power.”

>Then why-
>Oh no.
>She’s smart enough to be manipulative.
>>
>>29006158
>”Ponies love to hate. It’s in our blood. There’s no reason to resist that, we should embrace it! I want to bring Equestria together. To make everypony love their neighbors, to have everypony be every other pony’s friend.”

>That’s what she wanted most.
>You wanted attention.
>Celestia wanted warmth.
>Sombra wanted safety.
>Twilight wanted unity!

>”But they hate each other. The moment they had an excuse everypony turned on everypony else like disgusting savages. I can’t stop them from hating, but hatred? It can be useful. If they’re all too busy hating something else they’ll never have a chance to notice just how much they despise each other.”

>She wanted unity.
>Harmony.
>Friendship.
>And sure enough, she found a way to make it sick.
>’The enemy of my enemy is my friend’, they say.
>But is it true friendship?
>Or is it merely convenience?

“You’re declaring war on the Titans to give them something to hate. To have something to unite behind. You’re not planning on actually fighting, and you don’t intend to win. By Tartarus, you probably don’t intend to ever call it off, do you?”

>”In a million years Equestria will still be focused on wiping them out. We’ll raise foals to devote their lives to the war. An eternal, glorious war against an invisible enemy, everypony will hate them with their entire being. They’ll despise those horrible beasts with every fiber of their being, and they’ll NEVER have time to hate each other.”

>”You’ll fail. It’ll never work, Twilight.”

>”And why is that, fake Celestia?”

>”You’re mistaken about the nature of ponies. They hate, yes, but they don’t want to.”

>”Oh? What would you propose? Because it seems to me that we need to change Equestria in some way. It’s clearly as stable as a house of cards in a twister.”
>>
>>29006161
>Celestia closes her eyes for a moment.
>Under other circumstances you’re sure she’d take a deep breath.
>It looks like she’s going for it.
>She wants to convince Twilight that there’s another way.
>A better way.
>But...

>”You’re right about some things, Twilight. Equestria is unstable. And it IS ponies who are to blame. At heart we are savages. We’re meant to be primitive nomads running about the planes, and trampling anything that threatens us. We’re meant to be small, tight nit herds that support each other at the expense of all others. That’s who we are. I was there to see it, and I assure you, we were not content with being ourselves. Because despite all our flaws, the one thing that is the most equine, the trait that defines us is our desire to do better. To be better. We settled down, built homes, farms, made cultures. Not because it was natural. We did it specifically because it was unnatural. We did it because nature was awful, and we wished to be greater than we were. We could not tolerate living in that world for a moment longer, and so we remade the world into the comparative utopia you see today. But every single time we improved, every hard earned step of the way that we dragged ourselves out of the wild and into civilization, we ALWAYS ran into the same problem. We couldn’t escape the plains of old, because they were built into our very being.”

>Twilight sits and watches.
>She’s paying attention.
>But you still don’t approve of this course of action.
>Celestia is taking a massive gamble, and it will fail.
>>
>>29006166
>”Look around you and you’ll see wonders. Wonders that you consider mundane. Ponies don’t starve. They don’t die of plagues. They don’t die of exposure. War is- was a rarity. We had done it! We’d beaten nature, we’d escaped the wild. We lived in civilization, not on the plains. There was no trace of the horrible past remaining. None save for one thing. Nothing of this horrible past was left except for US. And everything we did, every plan and policy, every innovation always failed in the end because we still remained.”

>You were right.
>She’s going for it.
>Again you wonder just how much brain damage she’s endured.
>Or perhaps she genuinely believes Twilight will be reasonable about this.

>”I say I’m old, Twilight. That’s because I’m vain. In truth I’m not old, I’m ANCIENT. I’ve spent millennia trying to solve the problem that came to a head so recently, and every single time I invariably failed. Everything Luna and I ever tried was a bandage at best and a distraction at worst. Laws and police helped, but there are still criminals. Welfare programs didn’t end poverty, and no amount of education can fix stupid. Every time I was forced to watch my plans fall apart I couldn’t help but wish for one thing. I had to wish that we could be more than mere ponies. That we could be better.”

>”What are you getting at?”

>Celestia subtly glances at you.
>You take the hint.
>It’d be easier to convince her if she didn’t doubt the species of the speaker.
>>
>>29006172
“It is pony nature to be hateful and petty, true. It is also pony nature to want to be good. A paradox of sorts that results in the instability you see today. Rather than pitting our base urges against each other and making the best of what we are, we should try and become better. If we could figure out how ponies function on the deepest levels possible, if we could take control of our biology and reshape it, bend our own nature to our will… What if the stupidest of us were as brilliant as you? What if the cruellest of us were as kind as Fluttershy? What if our most sickly had the agility and stamina of Rainbow Dash? Imagine a world where Applejack, Rarity, and Pinkie all seemed like deceptive, selfish, depressing monsters? Not because they were less wonderful than they are, but because all others were even better?”

>”And what if all injuries, no matter how catastrophic, were easily treated? What if somepony could be burnt alive, and weeks later come back home? My eye was put out, and it took less than a minute to replace. How many broken bones, lost limbs, failed organs- how much grief could we be spared if ponies weren’t so fragile? The problem is with us, Twilight. We need to fix ourselves.”

>”Y- you want everypony to be like you?”

>Cadence sounds horrified as she speaks.
>You’re not too worried about that.
>You’re more worried about Twilight.
>>
>>29006177
>”No. I want it to be an option. I’d much rather live in steel than die in flesh. And I think it’s something you’d some day choose for yourself too, Cadence. When you’re a few centuries old memory isn’t that big of a worry. When you get to be millenia old, however, you start to forget important things. Precious things. Me, however, I don’t seem to forget anything anymore. I could recite this whole meeting word for word without difficulty, and I’d wager that I could do the exact same a thousand years hence. It’s hard to describe just how much that means to somepony so young, but when you start to forget your husband-”

>”I’d NEVER!”

>”When BOTH of you start to forget about Shining Armor, you’ll understand. There will come a day, hopefully in the distant future, when he dies. And there will come a day after that when you can’t remember his face.
>His voice. His smile. His name… EVERYTHING will fade until one day I mention Shining Armor to you and you ask me who that is. The way ponies remember isn’t good enough. But there is a better way. We need to change that as well- we must change many things.”

>”I think I understand.”

>Really?
>Twilight gets it?
>And she agrees with you?

>”It is unnatural for ponies to exist in a peaceful, comfortable society. We’re suited for a wild, dangerous environment in which the weak should fear the strong. And the only way to change that is to stop being ponies.”

>You have a bad feeling about this.

>”So in order to preserve pony kind, we must eliminate our society. Heh. It’s all so obvious in the end. For the good of ponykind, Equestria must fall.”

>”What.”

>Celestia sounds mad.
>She stomps up to the throne shattering the stone tiles beneath her thunderous hoofsteps.

>”What did you just say?”

>She stares an unimpressed Twilight dead in the eye as she encroaches far too closely on her personal space.
>>
>>29006183
>”Fuck Equestria. Fuck law. Fuck everything. It’s not natural. I’m going to tear the whole thing apart.”

“Life was short and brutal. We aren’t going back to that.”

>”Yes we are! Things were hard, but at least-”

>”At least NOTHING! I’m not going to sit idly by while you ruin everything I’ve worked for, you whore!”

>Celestia violently jabs a hoof into Twilight’s chest.
>You can’t be certain but it certainly looked painful.

>”I’ve spent millennia building this up from NOTHING! You can’t even begin to imagine the blood, sweat, and tears that have gone into building this nation. It’s my home, my life’s work, it might as well be my damn CHILD! And you WON’T ruin it!”

>She’s going off the rails.
>Not good.

“Twilight, think for a moment. This is a terrible idea. You want-”

>Her horn flashes.
>Your muzzle is clamped shut in a crushing telekinetic grip.

>”Step. Down. Twilight. Get your dirty hooves off my baby before I BREAK them off.”

>”I think I’ll start by having Manehattan razed. Burn the whole thing to the ground.”

>Celestia snaps.
>Perhaps it’s the remnants of the dark magic talking. She’ll likely be temperamental for decades yet.
>Or maybe this just hits so close to home that she can’t restrain her anger.
>Whatever the case may be, she raises a hoof and brings it down on Twilight’s head.
>Hard.
>But before it arrives her whole 300 some kilogram body starts floating in mid air.
>The blow never lands.

>”Heh. Destroy Equestria? I’m not stupid. This empire will swallow the world with me at the head. We’ll eliminate everything on the outside that could threaten Equestria’s stability, and then focus all our hate on the Titans to galvanise our love for each other. I just wanted to provoke you. Because now I know. I KNOW for sure.”

>Celestia is cast aside casually and lands hard in the corner of the room.
>The floor gets torn apart from the force of the impact.
>>
>>29006189
>”You aren’t Princess Celestia. She’d never strike me. She was kind.”

>A bolt of raw mana strikes Celestia’s head.

>”Patient.”

>Another hits home. This one noticeably darker.

>”Understanding.”

>A third and final bolt hits hard.
>A loud ringing sound goes throughout.
>But you’ve yet to see any structural damage.

>”You come to me with this DISGUSTING, PATHETIC fake, you disgrace her name and her memory- There is no excuse for your sins.”

>Celestia is raised in the air by the head with a black as pitch telekinetic aura.

>”Begone.”

>Nothing happens for a little while.
>Then you can see Twilight start to visibly strain herself.
>She continues to push herself harder and harder, struggling against the strange material that makes up your sister’s body.
>Until finally she crushes it into a tiny ball.
>Sparks fly everywhere as the circuitry shorts out.
>The internal fuses break to protect what remains of her body, and the sparks die out.
>Twilight lets out a short satisfied chuckle before dropping the damaged mass of metal.
>And with the fuses blown, Celestia stays motionless.
>Reliant on backup power to live.

>”And now for you, Luna.”

>She stares you in the eye and grips down on your jaw harder as she speaks.
>Cadence breaks the back off of Celestia’s throne with her magic, but you’re too busy to notice.

>”You lied to me. I can’t trust you.”

>Cadence levitates the broken chair high above Twilight’s head.

>”Which means I’ve no use for you-”

>Cadence brings the ruined furniture down on Twilight’s head and the purple alicorn winds up splayed out on the floor.
>Unconscious.
>Bleeding.
>Cadence is hyperventilating and crying.
>A small contingent of your guards burst through the door and survey the scene.
>You gesture to Celestia.

>”Get her to the wine cellar NOW!”

>They move reluctantly, clearly fearful of the wreck.
>You look to Cadence.
>>
>>29006195
>”Get to the Crystal Empire IMMEDIATELY. Twilight WILL come for you, and I assure you, she has more than enough power to make you regret what you just did. The crystal heart will keep her out and protect both you and your foal. MOVE!”

>She just stands there staring at her bludgeoned friend in a mad panic.
>Holding her improvised weapon and rapidly switching between staring at it and the damage it did.
>You run up to her and slap her viciously.

>”RUN YOU IDIOT!”

>She lets out a short yelp before teleporting.
>Hopefully towards home.
>A small team of your agents lets out a groan as they start to move your heavy sister.
>Classified walks up to you with a small battle axe in hoof.
>She’s barely concealing her terrorized state.

>”I came as soon as-”

“Calm yourself. You did your duty. It’s not your fault that I followed my sister so blindly. I should have been more firm, I should have gone behind her back- I should have done a lot of things. Everything that happened today is my fault…”

>”Should I…”

>She hefts the axe to imply a somewhat violent course of action.
>A horn amputation would hurt pretty bad.
>You know from experience.
>But then you look over to your sister.
>With the crushed head.
>If there’s been anything vital in there...

>”Change of plan. I tried to go easy on her, and she threw it in my face. It’s time for revenge.”
>>
>>29006208
>You are Spike.
>You’ve been staring at the dead Titans for hours.
>Considering the incredible power they represent.
>The impossible might brought low by a single creature’s mind.
>A creature that now wants you to help him.
>You watched the whole world spin below you.
>The millions of creatures, be they pony or otherwise, who are suffering.
>Dying.
>Counting on you to help them whether they know it or not.
>And you’ve finally come to a conclusion.

“I can’t do it. I want to, but I can’t. I’m just one baby drake. I’m not smart enough, I don’t know where to begin- I’m not ready.”

>”And you never will be. I’m asking the impossible of you, I know you can’t do it. As far as I know, nobody in the entire cosmos could do everything I’m asking of you. Not in a reasonable timeframe at least.”

>He gave you an impossible task.
>Something that nobody could do, presumably not even himself.
>And then he put the pressure on.
>He told you that every three seconds someone dies, and it’s all on you to stop it.
>Which you can’t do.
>It doesn’t make sense.

“Then why ask me?”

>”In this case, success and failure aren’t binary. Say for a moment you cure aging but fail to automate anything. Your friend Applejack will still spend her life on labour, but at least she’ll live long enough to do other things as well. Or perhaps you make physical labor obsolete. They still won’t live long, but they won’t have to waste what little time they have. Or perhaps you simply develop a cure for feather flu. It kills more than you’d expect. You’d do more good for the gryphons than any aid initiative with that alone, and that’s just the gryphons you’d save.”

>”More than any aid initiative? There have been some pretty big projects.”
>>
>>29006214
>”Bandages. Short term answers to long term problems. Once the bits are spent they’re gone. But once you wipe out a disease, drive it extinct, it won’t come back. About twenty thousand die of feather flu every year. You wipe it out, you save twenty thousand every single year. In a century hence you’ll have saved two million. Tell me, how many bits would that cost?”

>Two MILLION?
>You could fail and still save two million lives.
>That’s the bad end.
>But still…

“That only answers half of the question. Why ME?”

>”You know more of my ways than any other. Being a dragon you have a long life ahead of you so I don’t have to worry about you dropping dead on me. You thirst for knowledge. You’re driven to prove yourself more than a mere assistant. You were already trying to do something along these lines. And most importantly, I trust you.”

“Is there really nobody better for the job?”

>”Hrm. Perhaps Luna. I see no reason why the both of you can’t make an attempt.”

>It’s still so daunting.
>You don’t know where to start, what to go for first.
>You barely understand what you’re going for.
>But even so…

“I’ll try.”

>You start swimming back to the seat and prepare to buckle in.
>As much as you’d like to you can’t afford to stay up here forever.

>”That’s all I ask. I’ll do everything I can to support you. For starters I believe you were envious of Celestia’s neural implants. You’re much smaller than her so I won’t have as much space to work with, but there are some workarounds we can employ. I’ve taken a look at the changes you wanted made and I have to say, I’m unimpressed. I can’t make you that strong without replacing your bones. Bones are surprisingly important you know! They’re needed for hormonal regulation and blood cell generation. You can’t live without them, not unless you employ really heavy life support!”
>>
>>29006221
>That was oddly specific.
>Almost as though that’s been an issue for him before.
>You decide not to ask. `

>”And the wings are all wrong. Never going to work.”

“Really? You can’t redirect my dragonfire to make a thruster?”

>”Sure I can. And I have to say it was a neat idea, I wish it would work. There’s no way you’ll get enough thrust to lift off with those. You’re small, but not THAT small. Same problem as Celestia.”

“Yeah. But she can’t channel flight magic.”

>”Pardon?”

“Dragons can normally fly. Sometimes we get unlucky and their wings don’t develop properly. But we still have the flight magic.”

>”Fascinating. What good does that do us though?”

“Ask any pegasus. Flight magic makes you light. There’s no way your average pegasus would be able to get lift without it. And it works without wings.”

>”I wonder how. Mass neutralisation on a large scale? Or does it work with inertia in some way? Perhaps it plays against gravity? We’ll need to run some tests. Ready? We’re going down.”

>The craft’s walls go opaque once more.
>The thrusters kick in and knock you out of orbit.
>And you begin to fall.

That's it. Paste was actually updated this time miraculously enough.

I didn't want to write this one. There were so many ways I could have screwed it up, it would have been outright trivial to make a huge mess of this entire update. And yet I'm actually pretty okay with how it turned out. Maybe a bit long and drawn out but I don't think I could have avoided that really. There were quite a few loose ends to tie up in that meeting.

Again, sorry about the wait. It's been hard to make time lately, and due to some distractions, even harder to find motivation.

You did well. You have painted a vivid picture.

Are there flaws that lie undetected to the untrained eye? Almost certainly. But you've done better than most here on this thread. Be proud, for this may indeed be this thread's magnum opus.

With regards to Anon's vast knowledge base, I chalk that up to a humanity that is so utterly advanced that they transcend our current forms by several magnitudes where such acts like encapsulating our entire current knowledge base is trivial. Something that gives me hope, something that maybe in a few thousand years time we may able to actually achieve. As for the future advances since then? That would require more room than one mind may offer. Or at least, the space of one.

Going by Kardashev's scale, I would put this version of humanity as a Type 3 civilization. Or going by Halo's tech tree, somewhere between Type 1 and Type 0. Humanity still has much to learn, but has made magnificent strides, though just beginning to tap into the greater metaphysics (Magic w/Titans) of the universe.

>>”Change of plan. I tried to go easy on her, and she threw it in my face. It’s time for revenge.”
Does Twily die painfully? Or at least suffer immensely?
The answer better be yes.
>>
>>29006308
Thank you for your kind words. It's nice to be appreciated, especially given how much work has gone into this.

You're absolutely right about the source of his knowledge. He isn't human. He may look like a human, and indeed, once upon a time there were humans that worked to create beings like him. But he is not himself human. He is Homo Novus. He needn't be bound by our limitations. Even so it's growing tiresome to write that. Trying to write a character that knows more than you ever will and is immeasurably more intelligent is taxing. Plus it removes a good deal of the opportunities for conflict. I always need an excuse for why he hasn't gotten his way yet, because he clearly should know how to go about it. As for what advances have been made? I'll probably touch on that in the epilogue.

They're actually type 2 on the Kardashev scale. If you'll recall from so long ago he went to Equestria to make a wormhole to facilitate travel, and he only had to travel 800 years or so. With acceleration and deceleration time it's safe to say that his target was fewer than 800 lightyears away, still a relatively small civilization on a galactic scale. I imagine them to be sophisticated enough to make type 3, but too young to have spread that far. Without FTL travel it would take well over a hundred thousand years to fill the galaxy, after all.

Is that you, Despair Anon?
I actually really like Twilight Sparkle. It probably doesn't show because of what I did with her in this story, but I consider her a quality horse. If for no reason other than this I don't intend to kill her. Even so, I think you'll be satisfied by what I have in mind.
Luna's quite protective of her big sister. And dark magic's effects on the mind are known to last for decades...

At the very least it sounds like Luna is going to remove Twilight's horn. R-right?
>>
>>29006981
It would be extremely irresponsible to not do so.

Eh. There aren't that many people pushing for massive suffering. Nothing to be ashamed of, at least you know what you want. Some people don't even have that.

Right now it's not fortified at all. The bodies aren't even cold yet and Spike was told that the arsenal was depleted. I'll be sure to describe his fortifications a little bit down the road. Adding it to the list.

I can't speak for the others, but I fully intend to finish this behemoth. May it be but one of many.

>”Then I believe that it would be best if we met at the the ship's lunch counter.” replies Abbé.
>”We?” asks Applejack.
>”Of course. After all, I'm sure your friends must have questions of their own.”
> You, Spike and Abbé go to the infirmary to fetch Fluttershy, Pinkie and Rarity while Applekjack goes up to the upper deck to get Rainbow Dash.
>”Excuse me, Mr Crimsonblood?” Spike asks nerviously.
>”Yes, lad?”
>”How did the Secret Service interupt me? I though Twilight's letters could only go to the Princess?” Spike asks, fidgeting with his claws.
>You were wondering about that yourself, now that he mentioned it.
>”A flame-mail spell is easy to counter or modify if one has access to one of the casters. Really, all you need is a seal, a rune, a potion or to even cast the counter spell yourself.”
>”Perhaps they fed you the potion without you noticing, or put a spell on you while you slept.”
“If it's so easy to counter, then why did the Princess place it on Spike to begin with?” you ask, more than a little concerned about such blatant disregard for your safety and Spike's.
>”Most of the knowledge about old spells such as flame-mail is forgotten. One would need access to an ancient magic tome, or to be an elder alicorn to know this kind of thing.”
>So the Secret Service had access to ancient magic then.
>Can things get any worse?

>The mustard clouds begin to disperse and the chorus of railguns and machine-guns comes to a silence as the last mud goblin is sent screaming into oblivion.
>You allow yourself a little satisfaction from that.
>You are Anonymous, bane of the Underworld and builder of terrible wonders.
>As you walk through the now empty hive of the mud goblins, you feel reassured in your contempt to these parasites.
>All over the hive there are pieces of your old machinery fashioned into crude tools and shelter.
>>
>Inside some holes you can see some minerals and gems gleam through the mud.
>As you travel deeper into the damp and filthy hive, you remember an old draconian proverb:
“Nothing good ever comes from under the mud.”
>And you can see the truth in that.
>The little progress they had made had been achieved by looting and raiding your mines.
>Even other goblins consider them savages, barely above gremlins.
>The only two things they have going in their favor are they are somewhat organized, and their ability to use tools.
>But even that was a stretch.
>The single tactic they have is to storm their objective, take as much as they could, and then run away.
>Only the higher ranks of their hives know to write and read.
>And even fewer know how to work metals.
>Most of their tools are either bones or appropriately shaped scrap.
>However, there is one thing that they do on their own.
>And when you reach the center of the hive you will begin to search for it.
>Of course Hector and a few Zeus-21 are already waiting for you there.
>”Sir. All premises have been secured. All units ready and awaiting orders.”
“Good. Did we get everything back?”
>”Negative, sir.
If they had the drive to do it, they could have easily turned half of this into weapons and armor.
>You can also see some ancient trinkets and treasures dotting the scrap pile.
>Most likely from a dragon hoard or a gnome tomb.
“You two,” you point at two of the drones in the room, “look for anything resembling a book or a scroll.” you order them, pointing at the pile.
>As the pair of machines start to rummage through the scrap, you walk towards the end of the hall.
>>
>Upon the remains of an old model Osiris drone, sits the corpse the mud goblin king.
>The fat goblin wore the tip of a steel drill as his crown and still clutched to an aluminum pipe as his scepter.
>He was big, by goblin standards, reaching up to your chest.
>But in the end, just like many of his subjects, his bloated eyes and inflated tongue remain as evidence of his gruesome death.
>As you look closer you see a small pipe bent-shut by one end, attached to his hip by a belt.
>Taking the pipe and inspecting it closer you see that it holds what you were looking for.
>Maps and scout reports.
>The mud goblins are nothing but looters, and as such, they know where the loot is around the underground.
>You can see several maps describing the perimeter of your Prospecting.
>Of course they don't dare go any further than that.
>There are also the locations of many other mud hives around Equestria.
>Another map shows where the rock goblins have been mining for the last few years.
>A particular scroll however seems to contain a report about a horrible creature named “Shugholt' the Eater of Souls” living deep beneath the Hayseed Swamps.
>Right by Mine 6-13b.
>Well, at least now you know the name of the thing you're dropping tetra-phosphate on.
>You should probably check on that before you return home to dinner.
>Which will be in about three hours, better wrap things up around here and leave.
“Ok. Did you two found anything?”
>Each drone drags a couple of metal boxes towards you.
>Judging by the engraving on the sides you can tell that they are gnome strongboxes.
>All of them are covered by scratches. It's obvious that the goblins failed to open them.
>Not a problem for your drones, who cut right through the hinges.
>Inside you see several books and gems.
>And if the glowing gems are related to the book they're stored with, you can assume that these are ancient magic tomes.
“Jackpot.”

“Fair point.”
>What WOULD someone use an oracle for?
>Predicting the future probably

“I don’t think you can cure death. Or uh, undeath for that matter.”

>”Gah, you’re too trusting sometimes, Anon. I’m not saying zat I don’t trust her, but still, I’m on edge around her.”
“It’s an entire species that survives through deception and some form of parasitism, I understand why she makes you nervous. The hard truth however is that without her, you’re pretty much without a crew.”

>Which is odd, because you can feel that it’s quite strong
>You try flexing your wings, as if you actually had them
>It was worth a shot wasn’t it?
>To your surprise, it actually seems to work
>You can feel it clear as day, as if they were actually attached to your body
>Must be the nerve damage
>Regardless, you do your best to take off
>However…
>That seems to be eluding you at the moment
>”You know, when I said you should take time to figure it out, I meant it. Doc told me to keep an eye on you and help you figure out your uh… New body, so to speak.”
>You turn to see Striker leaning against the wall, waiting for you
“So what, I’m back in basic training again?”
>”Not really, no. It’s specialized for you. You don’t really expect to be combat effective without learning how to use the thing keeping you alive, do you?”
>You know, you hate when somepony explains things to you in a condescending manner to you
>Even moreso when they’re right
“Tch, fine.”
>”Now come on, we’ve got a couple courses made for you already.”
>>
>>29007938
>”I take it that you’re feeling a bit clunky, right?”
>Striker looks down at you
>From your position in the mud, it only makes you angrier
>”Hey, getting mad at me won’t make it any easier to control that thing. I’m just here to make sure you don’t hurt yourself too bad.”
“As if I would ever need somepony watching over me.”
>”Well, you did almost die not too long ago.”
“You’ll be quiet before I remove your tongue and stuff it into your ear.”
>Striker sighs and extends a hoof to help you up, which you begrudgingly take
>”You’re supposed to relax inside it. Try thinking of it less like it’s something your wearing, and more like it’s just your body.”
“Yeah, zat’s what I’m afraid of.”
>”What’s that?”
“Nozink.”
>That’s just the thing that was freaking you out
>Not that you’d ever let it show on your face, but the reality that you couldn’t live outside this suit was starting to really sink in now

I'm loving the juxtaposition of the idyllic episodes from the show and the current atmosphere regarding twilight. Also I am so into the idea of reading about the element of magic waking up without a horn and having an absolute shitfit.

>tiresome to write superhuman shenanigans
I feel like the story has very little to be gained from showing more of anons point of view. How the others deal with what he does and the ramifications of everything he has done is way more interesting now. (at least to me)

From what I've seen, most story ideas get written. For the most part, anyway.

I unfortunately can't help with that particular idea. Unless it's Anon introducing the ponies to GLORIOUS POWER METAL.

How about a scientist anon deconstructing and standardizing magic:

creating a SI compliant system for magical strength, flow, and conductivity.
Applying the scientific methods to spells and breaking them down into their base effects.
And, using this knowledge to create a standard set of libraries and templates by which to create and base spells off of.

This would, of course, occur due to the Equestria that Anon landed in not practicing the scientific method.

I was actually heading that way in the story
>producing and storing magic is actually pretty easy. turning it into kinetic force, electricity or heat. is complicated without the innate instinct to do so. and to actually make and cast spells is like making proteins out of dirt, water and sunlight. is better to rely on spells already writen and let your natural affinity guide you through it.

Hey anons,(and other writefags) I started planning a green where anon lived in ponerville but twi kicked him out (of her house) for trying to explain human tech, so he took it as a personal insult and helped the catbirbs instead.

>>29021303
Too open to actually be able to give any toughts about the idea, but its a nice concept if anything
Biggest wildcard will be what you do with Celestia and Luna in it for seeing what s happening in other countries and 'Equestria's supremacy(?)' and etc, since it would definetly escalate to a country conflict in the end

It's a bit rambly since I didn't bother to edit it, but here are my thoughts on what their 'good' weapons would be like. http://pastebin.com/FamqiUrL
TL;DR, they wouldn't have much more firepower if any. Instead, the bulk of the work is being put into deployment and accuracy. Space is big. It's hard to hit a moving target when your laser takes minutes to reach it.
>>
>>29032150
One of my favorite scifi weapon ideas ironically enough came from a shitty furry story. It involves thinking with portals.

Literally. Think the ending scene of Portal 2, but instead of opening a portal on the surface of the moon you instead open it in the heart of a star. Imagine the glorious surge of nuclear hellfire that would emerge from the other portal.
>>
>>29032150

>>29032177

The implication was that Anon blew them up offscreen and that's why Spike was stuck waiting on the ship for so long. I think the cause of the confusion was an ordering error on my part, I intend to show how the fight wrecked up his base later on. Had I shown that sooner it would have made perfect sense.

Yes, wrecked up his base even though they never made it into the atmosphere. I'll explain that in fiction.

Yes, offscreen. It would have mostly been a repeat of the last fight, not worth writing. I'll show off his weapons once they're better developed.
>>
>>29032204

Well considering we were using pony point of view they wouldn't know that the suns were two more dead titans. It also makes you sympathize with spike as he learns about the titans because previously you only knew what they were based on the uninformed looking at the sky with many suns.
