I liked Legacy of the Pony. It's based on Legacy of the Wizard and draws influences from other NES/SNES games. It has a very Game Boy feel.

These are the pony romhacks I know along with the ones you mentioned.
Pony Fantasy 6 was a huge project and the successor is completely overhauled 2 years after the first release.
Super pony all stars is a recent one and it has a lot of sprite changes.
SFL2 is made by the same person who made pony poki panic so it's just a small sprite change.

To put it VERY VERY simply, its in a post apocalyptic cyberpunk world, and a corporation that has distributed robotic husks as replacement to physical interaction with the world (improve life span, eliminate crime, increase physical strength in custom work models, etc) has just taken them over and trapped the hosts in their CIB' s (Consciousness interface booths, the hub where you control the robots, often referred to as drones). You can take over drones by taking the violent route and killing their hosts where the sleep, and the drones can be hot swapped through, strategically placed throughout an infinitely procedurally generated world, and will act as a sort of life. The house you spawn in will be upgrade able and after a point int he game waves of drones and other robots will periodically attack your base getting harder over time. There is also a heavy aspect of augmentation in order to make it so the game isn't just over when you loose all your drones, but will have a tense aspect (at least if you get immersed in the game, as you wont just be sending your robots out it'll be you, and it'll be your last chance). Its actually pretty heavily pony, at first it wasn't going to be, but the I started thinking about futuristic accommodations and augmentations for a mlp style world, and i've been filling notebooks with ideas since. Also, I switched from ncurses to SDL in order to remove dependency from the terminal. Most people don't even know how to access their terminal now-a-days, and making it cross platform (as my current version functions on OS X, Windows, and Linux), and finally its harder to package that version into a .app, .exe, or .deb. Btw, its actually not turn-based, I'm using a more advanced system for processing enemy and user actions based on a speed/energy system

Seeing as the game is a traditional ASCII roguelike, there wont be pony graphics ofc, but there will be pony based dialogue, bosses(probably the mane 6), npc's, and pony based scenery, locations, and ive been thinking of how computers and what not would be created in order to accommodate for hooves. The whole transition fro our world to pony world is actually very fascinating, and if you get immersed in games a lot, I'm hoping to make this one stimulate your imagination and allow you to create some of your own characters lore and what not as well.
