That's the RP behind the ball. The real meaning is cross-board exposure. It increases traffic across the boards. Boards also creates content as "gifts" to each other, giving inspiration or just exposure to the diffrent chan cultures that have formed. Meme's are spread, and people may become cross-posters as a result. It's a fairly serious, yet prosperous celebration.

I think that change to Midnight Sparkles dress might have done it, because it suddenly became incredibly hard to pick my 3rd favorite. Looking at it now, I could see that waist spikes would have made it difficult for close intimate moments. That wouldn't have been good.

It was an insanely difficult choice, but in the end... I had to go with #7 as my 3rd. The changes to #10 almost made it my third choice, but as I was looking at the waves, the simile "making waves" came to mind, and it made me think of what we might be doing come this Winter Ball! And that was a tough choice to make too since I'm such a sucker for bluish hue color schemes.

Regarding what I felt might had been missing from Luna's dress, I thought about it and this was my thought: dark lace, either as sleeves, draped over the face, or both You don't need to draw if you don't want to! They're fairly easy to visualize and I'm just brainstorming to myself right now. Believe me, you've done unbelievably fantastic work for us! Especially just by drawing minor suggestions!

But I'll explain my thought process: from the way I see it, the princess dresses seemed tailor made for those whose personality and color would be best suited for their respective wearer.

Luna's dress sets a tone for a particular type of person/pony who displays and/or reminds you of a particular range of color, as do the other dresses. So by trying to match the color, you're in a way trying to gussy yourself up for the dress. Doing so does mean straying from the original design though.

Point is, I probably think too much... Drawfriend, please don't let yourself feel stressed by our change requests, and do forgive me for being so... finicky.

honestly i think the red dress(es) is too uninspired from a design standpoint. it looks like a mish mash of marinara and wool, it clashes too much in the first place and the leg slit is way to tacky- the wool covers up the shoulders so you don't get the skimpyness of legs and shoulders. it's a glorified burka stained by the blood of it's boring ass designer. i don't like the red dress concept- it looks like whomever's wearing it is the side girl at a play-boy's funeral. whomever wears this dress needs to be driving her husbands old mercedes after she pushed him in a wood chipper and collected insurance.

This is not cute, it's mature and sinister. which is not what i think the board-tan is wearing.

And that's how the poll turned out for, and if we're going to argue the turnout of a poll then the poll's use was pointless and if we decide on another otherwise then it's not properly representing the wishes of the board.

Up to this point, I've assumed that the Winterball was a very elegant social event.

Agreed, but it was a gesture to other drawfags. I personally don't like flowy dresses so I'd keep it tight. However, if it hugged her legs like that, she wouldn't be able to move and drawfags would be very limited in how they could draw her. The leg slit offers mobility which means she can be drawn in all sorts of positions without compromising the integrity of the dress.

Poll has been open for a bout a day now and between the 42 votes, it looks like 9 wins by a large margin with 3 and 9 almost tying for second. Should we just call it here? We might get more votes but I bet it'll just be a power struggle between 3 and 7. I can't 9 getting out of first at this point.
